最初に出迎えてくださった時から、一瞬で「歓迎されている」と感じるようなお宿でした。伊藤さんご夫婦のお人柄が本当に素晴らしく、最後までずっと気持ちよく接していただきました。お部屋や水回りも清潔で、過ごしやすいです。そしてKちゃん(わんちゃん)もとっても人懐っこく、大変癒されました。朝食も最高！こんな素敵な宿は、なかなか無いと思います。

Everything was exceptional. It was truly a home. It was like going to my grandparents house. They are really very warm and welcoming. I would love to go back and stay with them again and just relax. It makes me happy to talk to them. I don't know how they do this business at this age and still be exceptional.

La chambre était spacieuse, tout à fait charmante et le futon extrêmement confortable. Mais le vrai point fort du séjour n'est autre que les hôtes. Mr et Mme Ito m'ont réservé un accueil extrêmement chaleureux, et ont toujours été au petits soins. Leur anglais est excellent et Mr Ito parle même un peu français. Je me souviendrai longtemps des longues discussions au moment du petit déjeuner, mais aussi du pincement au coeur que j'ai ressenti au moment de partir. Alors pour ces souvenirs inoubliables, je ne peux que recommander de séjourner à Mokkoan. J'espère avoir l'occasion d'y retourner.

Outstanding place to stay while traveling to Tokyo. The owners of the Mokkoan were very welcoming, helpful and warm. It was pure pleasure to talk with them, share the stories and fully experience stay there with a lot of interesting cultural discoveries. Breakfeast was delicious, prepared freshly every morning with care and good ingridients. I am also very grateful for lifts to the station, help with managing luggage and navigating through the city. So if you are thinking that it is too far from the centre or there will be problem getting there - completely opposite, I was amazed how pleasant and easy was to get there. And the house with garden, I will only say that it was mesmerizing, wonderful traditional house with charming garden are really creating calm oasis in the bustling city. The whole stay is amazing and unique experience. Thank you for all your hospitality and great stay!

It was a great experience! I stayed in room 101, it was quite big and pretty comfy and it had a great view to the garden. It had everything needed to feel comfortable. But besides that, you're treated like one of the family. The breakfast is made that very same morning and the orange jam is home made! Thank you so much!

Mokkoan was truly a gem just outside of central Tokyo. The hosts were very kind and hospitable people. Although I stayed for only one night, I felt like I was being treated as a guest who would be staying for longer. Ito offered to pick me up and drop me off to and from Akabane train station (the main train station in the area as it would be close to a 20 minute walk one way. The hotel itself is one of the most unique and beautiful stays I’ve ever stayed in. From the garden to the historic building itself, it was a treat to be able to stay here. I wish I was able to stay longer. Breakfast is apparently made by the hosts every morning for their guests. One of their signature dishes involves using homegrown fruit from their garden to make a marmalade which I wish I got to try. It is probably one of my biggest regrets from this trip to not have breakfast here as I needed to check out early the morning after. Overall, I’d be happy to stay here again the next time i visit Japan. I will be sure to do so.

Akabane Train Station is about a 20 minute walk from Mokkoan.

Absolutely lovely place to stay, the owners have a warm welcoming personality and you truly feel like you're part of a family while you stay there. I am very grateful for the lifts to the station we were given and the lovely gifts we got on our departure. I truly hope to stay with you again when I find myself back in Japan next year! Can't fault anything - genuinely lovely hosts and excellent place to stay

By far the BEST stay I have ever had in Japan and the many other countries I have been to and THE highlight of my trip to Tokyo. This is an authentic Japanese Ryokan with a traditional setting and modern amenities to deliver the most sincere and heartfelt hospitality that gives you another solid reason to return to Tokyo for future trips. Mokkoan's location perfectly balances convenience (located near a major train station) and being able to find peace in the extremely busy mega city. The beautifully maintained garden is not only a real joy for the tired eyes to look at from inside your cozy room, but also soothes your soul with the fragrance of its flowers. What's even more impressive about Mokkoan is the super friendly and welcoming staff who host you with genuine pleasure and readily offer their assistance to really make you and any fellow travellers feel at home. A large part of the joys of travelling is the amazing people you meet along the way, and this is what sets Mokkoan apart from all other conventional hotels. Overall, a stay here is a truly unique experience in itself and I wholeheartedly recommend Mokkoan to anyone heading to Tokyo. I would have rated it 100 out of 10 if possible!

For my last night in Japan, I wanted to get out of the Tokyo hotel and stay in a traditional Japanese house. Mokkoan was perfect, in a quiet neighborhood a 15 minute walk from the station. The hosts were welcoming, kind, and spoke good English. They offered to picked up/drop off at the station as well. The breakfast was good, and the conversation around the table with the hosts and other guests was enjoyable. The stay turned out to be a highlight of my trip

Our stay was great! The traditional Japanese house is so beautiful and the owners were really kind and offered us a ride from the train station upon arrival and check out :) the included breakfast was also delicious!

Everything, Ito San and his wife were superb. We spent our first days of Honeymoon in Japan with them. We won't forget our how special this was. Breakfast was great and getting to interact with them was amazing. Such a great perople. We even forgot something and save it for us a few days. And the garden wow. Beds also very comfy

Lovely property with a lovely garden. Yasuhiko, Chieko and Yuki are so nice and welcoming. K-chan, the dog, is also very sweet. We loved our stay there. Akabane is a nice and peaceful neighborhood. We also really enjoyed the breakfasts at Mokkoan and the jam they make there with the oranges from the orange tree of the garden. We truly recommed stayind at Mokkoan :)

I cannot overstate how kind, welcoming, and accommodating the hosts of Mokkoan are. They made our stay here feel one of a kind. The breakfast was great, they have a lovely garden, and had a cute little dog. The beds were comfortable and had a lovely view. If you are looking for a more traditional stay just close enough to the train station then look no further.

Owners are among the best people we have met in decades of travels. Breakfast is a moment of socialization. Oranges jam is something you would want to be able to buy. The place is an oasis in a big city. Rooms are big, charming, beds are super-comfortable. We were four people and are still not able to find the smallest room for improvement.

Everything was wonderful at Mokkoan! The room was beautiful and big, Japanese style. The futon was extremely comfortable. I had my own bathroom. Everything was super clean. It is a very quiet and peaceful place. It’s well located. Only 25 minutes from Tokyo station. The owners are wonderful people. They are very kind, helpful, friendly. They make one feel comfortable and at home. The Garden is also very beautiful and well maintained. For someone who seeks to stay at a Japanese traditional house with warm welcoming hosts, this is the place to stay with all the comfort one needs. I highly recommend the homestay!

One of the best stays I've ever had! The room was absolutely lovely, super clean, cozy, and thoughtfully set up with everything you could need. You can really tell how much care goes into keeping the place in perfect shape. But what truly made this stay special was the couple who runs it together with Yuki and K-chan. They were so warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind. Those conversations after breakfast were when we felt most at home in our whole trip. We will definitely be coming back next time!

We liked everything about it. They were such a nice people, kindly introduced every little detail to us. We had a really great breakfast, was so tasty 😋 The rooms are just amazing 🤩 and the garden was lovely too.

The place was very clean, the surroundings were very calm and relaxing + the owners were very friendly, hospitable and spoke English very well. They went above and beyond to make sure the stay was one of the most memorable of our trip.

Top Hotel, komme sicher wieder. Badezimmer war klein (Doppelwaschbecken getrennt von Dusche und WC in einem Raum), alles jedoch sehr fein. Spitzen Gastgeber, süßer Hund, wunderschöner Garten, Zimmer zum wohlfühlen, super Frühstück, traumhaft!

Excellent service. Was picked up at Akabane St. and was otherwise offered to be driven wherever I needed to be. Room, toilet, the place in general was spotless. Will be my go-to place in Tokyo.

La struttura era fantastica, la camera curata nei minimi dettagli e il bagno degno di una spa. Gli host sono stati gentilissimi, la colazione buonissima è l’unica cosa che mi dispiace è aver passato da loro solo una notte. Tornerò sicuramente la prossima volta che sarò a Tokyo.

An absolutely outstanding stay at Mokkoan. I spent 3 nights there and honestly I do not understand how this place is rated 9.9/10 instead of a full 10/10. From the moment I arrived, the hosts made me feel genuinely welcome. Their hospitality is warm, sincere, and far beyond expectations. They were kind enough to drive me from the accommodation to Akabane Station, which was incredibly helpful and thoughtful. They also took the time to recommend great places to visit, making my Tokyo experience even better. The accommodation itself is spotless. The facilities are very clean, and I was impressed by the attention to detail. Fresh towels and bed sheets were provided every single day, which is rare and shows real care for guests. The breakfast was delicious and prepared with love, a perfect start to each day. To top it all off, I even received a lovely souvenir from the hosts, a small gesture that left a big impression and perfectly reflects how much they care. I loved everything about Mokkoan. The comfort, the cleanliness, the kindness, and the overall experience were flawless. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in Tokyo and have a truly wonderful, memorable experience.

The space is beautifully kept calm and peaceful. The room was spotless simple and filled with that quiet Japanese elegance that immediately makes you relax. But the real heart of Mokkoan is the people. The hosts do not treat you like a guest on a list. They welcome you like someone they are genuinely happy to have in their home. Every small gesture every conversation every bit of help with directions or suggestions felt thoughtful. The garden is a world of its own. I spent a little time there each morning and it felt like stepping into stillness. There is something soulful about this place that is hard to put into words. Mokkoan is not accommodation. It is an experience of kindness. If you want a stay that leaves you feeling calm seen and cared for this is where you go.

Adorable family! They met me at the train station and took me there whenever I needed. Otherwise, it is just 15 min walk from Akabane, very safe area. I stayed in a Japanese traditional room, it was clean and had everything needed. Definitely staying there for my next trip again :)

I really liked how cozy and friendly everyone at the residence was. It was very relaxing and comfortable for a solo traveller, especially since I’m travelling alone as a woman.

We enjoyed the home style Japanese home and excellent hospitality. The breakfast was delicious and they even accommodated my Gluten Free diet. We relaxed and slept well after a long journey.

숙소 자체가 일단 너무 예뻤구요. 뷰도 좋고 깨끗하고, 모든 곳에 다 배려와 세심함이 놓여있는 공간이었어요. 원래 오전에 일찍 일정 잡는 편인데, 방이 너무 좋아서 정원 뷰 보면서 더 오래 있다 나가고 그랬어요. 사장님 두 분 내외 덕분에 정말 편안히 묵다 왔어요 :) 체크인 체크아웃때도 그렇고 아침에 여행나갈 때 역까지 데려다 주셨어요! 조식 자체도 정성스럽고 맛있는데, 즐거운 대화와 케이짱까지 함께해서 너무 좋았습니다 ㅎㅎ 다음에 꼭 다시 올게요! The property is a gorgeous oasis of a traditional Japanese home, complemented by very caring and fastidious hosts - for whom almost nothing is too much trouble. It is comfortable, yet humble accomodation, but deeply more comfortable, spacious and personable than a hotel.

There is little not to like. Is it really 10/10.. well maybe not; one could nit pick a thing or two - it’s not especially sound proof for instance. But, who am I to let something so trivial to undo the glorious hard work the family have put in to make this a truly 10/10 experience. Oh, and TBH - I didn’t care much for the dog… sorry K-Chan, I know you’re a crowd favourite, I just like my dogs a little bigger.

Les hôtes étaient extrêmement sympathiques, généreux et accueillants (et le petit chien adorable) et nous ont donné leurs meilleures adresses dans le quartier. La maison est magnifique. Nous avons pris une chambre traditionnelle avec tatamis (magnifiques) et futons (les plus confortables sur lesquels nous ayons dormi au Japon) et vue sur le splendide jardin.

Sur la carte, la maison est un peu loin du métro/train et du centre de Tokyo. Mais ça n’a absolument pas été un problème car la gare reste à une distance accessible à pied (dans un quartier résidentiel très sûr), le train est rapide, et M. Yasuhiko ITO est venu nous chercher en voiture à la gare pour nous aider avec nos valises et nous y a déposés à la fin du séjour (ainsi que plusieurs fois en journée)

Just as other reviews said, this Stay is absolutely great. I love how beautiful Mokkoan is. The hosts were absolutely great and I am super grateful that they picked me up from the train station and even took me to it when I was leaving. Breakfast was very tasty! I even got to taste homemade orange marmelade which was great ❤️
