Such a beautiful hotel. Amazing location.
Excellent hotel. However I was very unhappy about 2 amounts deducted unauthorised after our departure . Not good
Great location with lots of potential. Unfortunately has a hotel wide ant problem. Tldr had to move rooms throughout, where both had ant infestations. Hotel staff did try to mitigate the issue, however having your stay disrupted with staff coming in and out to spray/apply solution, and having to move our things was not something anyone wants to do during a vacation. Was told the solution applied takes 30 minutes for ants to die; woke up with dead ants everywhere all over the floor and bed. Spoke to reception and was advised by the manager they are aware of the issue and have been trying to combat it for quite some time but that this is common in Portugal. We stayed in 3 other hotels across Lisbon, Lagos and Carvoeiro, no issues anywhere else. Would've also been nice if the rooftop pool bar/patio didn't close at 8. Waste of an evening spot (and likely lost revenue to the hotel) for folks who want to stay in after spending the day out. Needless to say it was an unfortunate experience.
The Avenida hotel was our first stop of a 10-day trip in Portugal and our favourite hotel of the 4 we stayed at. The location is great, you can walk to the old town where all the bars and restaurants are, and it's right across from the marina which is both pretty to look at and convenient if you're doing a boat tour (which we did). There's a bridge directly across from the hotel that you can walk across to go to the marina where boat tours leave from and there are some restaurants and shops, and it was nice to even watch the bridge open and close to let the boats go by. The hotel itself is small and modern. The restaurant is award winning, but we didn't have dinner there. Breakfast is included with the stay and it was incredible - the freshest fruit, amazing pastries and croissants, delicious coffee and then there's also a menu you can order off of that's also included with breakfast, and we had delicious poached eggs on sour dough toast and waffles. We still talk about the breakfasts. Another highlight of the hotel is the rooftop pool/bar. We would go there every afternoon after a day of exploring and relax by the pool, get a drink and take in the views. The pool isn't deep, so you can do laps or just stand there with a drink taking in the views which are beautiful. Even the music they played up there was great - I loved all the playlists - great vibe. And since it's a small hotel it was never crowded. The rooms are small but clean and comfortable, and you're really not in them for long anyway. The only thing that's a bit of a pain is parking. The hotel has 3 spots behind the hotel but they're almost always full, so you have to pay to park in an underground garage that's a few minutes away and a bit annoying to get in and out of - but still it wasn't the biggest deal. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and on our last day we had to leave at 7am to catch a train to Lisbon and since we missed breakfast they packed us a lunch to go. I wouldn't recommend this hotel for families with kids, but for an adult getaway it was the absolute perfect spot to stay in Lagos. I would 100% go back. I'm still dreaming about the rooftop pool and delicious breakfasts.
Not enough hanging space for dresses and it’s big enough is the room for more wardrobes
Staff went above and beyond! Loved all the waitstaff and the bartender up at the pool. Perfect atmosphere and very clean! Ideal location and delicious breakfast every morning.
Literally everything about our stay at this hotel was wonderful. The room was clean, spacious, and well equipped, modern but still with a breezy, cool, natural, effortlessly chic feel. The location was close to everything, and we were even able to find street parking for our rental car relatively easily nearby. The service was outstanding. Every staff member we interacted with was friendly, genuine, helpful, and simply fun to chat with. The rooftop pool was beautiful, with an amazing view, and so refreshing after a day of sightseeing. Breakfast at the restaurant was fantastic. Everything you could want and then some, and the food was excellent. Which isn't at all surprising considering the restaurant is Michelin-star level for dinner. We made reservations and had dinner there one night, and it was one of the best meals of my life. Every detail was carefully curated, every bite was memorable, and the entire experience was exceptional. The sommelier was also incredibly knowledgeable and picked the perfect wine pairing for us. Lastly, and this is a small thing but every detail counts, they stock Castelbel Porto products as the hand soap, body lotion, and shower gel. I've been trying to figure out which scent it is ever since because it smells absolutely divine. I wish I knew so I could buy it and use it all the time. Our whole experience was perfect. No notes. Thank you, Hotel Avenida!
Nothing I didn't like.
A must-stay! We were so fortunate to spend three nights here, and it exceeded all of our expectations. The location is perfect, the modern minimalist design is beautiful, and the views are absolutely breathtaking. The staff was kind, knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful throughout our stay. We also loved the beautiful swimming pool and the outstanding gourmet breakfasts, which featured a wonderful variety of delicious regional specialties. We highly recommend staying here and can’t wait to return!
What a delightful hotel-conveniently situated if, like us, you arrive by train-an easy walk from station. Overlooking the Marina and lifting bridge . This means a bit of road noise at night but worth putting up with . A short walk into town. Staff were helpful and breakfast buffet and cooked offerings, outstanding. Clean and stylish rooms ( although we weren’t keen on the current trend of having the toilet and shower as part of the bedroom, albeit separated by a curtain! )We had to leave before breakfast on the last day to catch an early train-the staff kindly insisted on giving us a packed lunch for the journey.
The location was fantastic
The water leaked out the shower.
Location perfect for a stay in Lagos . Breakfast superb. Beds very comfortable.
Not sure why but I could not find any satellite t v channels
Absolutely 5 star accommodations. Breakfast was amazing, pool, rooms and staff were awesome!
The staff were all very pleasant & willing to help in any way. Our room was comfortable and clean. Our restaurant dinner was fantastic. Each morning we had a wonderful breakfast with many options. The roof top pool/bar was comfortable, especially after a full day of walking. We were able to walk to the hotel from the train and it was close enough to everything for us to walk to. It was a wonderful stay.
I would have liked brewed coffee available before 8AM. We used the instant coffee in our room. The restaurant opens at 8 but we are up early.
We stayed at the Lagos Avenida Hotel for three nights. The rooms are nice and spacious. We walked all over the area so it's convenient for walking. The hotel is easy to locate because it's right by the walking bridge. We enjoyed the rooftop pool. The hotel staff is very helpful and the breakfast they offer is excellent. We really liked the Lagos Avenida Hotel.
Super Hotel in bester Lage von Lagos. Zimmer alles prima. Super Frühstück
Matratze unbequem
Lagos Avenida Hotel is perfectly positioned — close enough to walk to the charming old town, yet quietly set apart from the tourist bustle. Whether you're arriving by train or bus, the hotel is an easy walk from both stations. We stayed in room 403 — a generously sized room with double balconies. While it doesn't overlook the marina, the space and the outdoor areas more than compensate. The service was great. We had an early departure and, rather than letting us miss breakfast, the staff kindly prepared a packed lunch for us to take on our way. We would happily return and recommend it to anyone visiting the Algarve.
The one area with room that could have been designed better is the bathroom. There's a single basin with limited counter space is a bit of a constraint. The frosted glass toilet door is also a design choice that may not suit everyone. Also, a coffee machine is typically standard in a 5* hotel - there's just instant coffee sachets. None of these are deal-breakers.

We had an exceptional stay in Lagos for our first visit to algarve. It was An amazing hotel. The staff were kind, the breakfast great. An amazing location as well.

Small room. Bathroom area
Location, design
The staff! The location! The breakfast! The rooftop bar!
Lack of privacy in bathroom.
Great Hotel Great location Lovely staff and great à la carte breakfast Heated pool on 5th floor is a dream Lovely comfy Bali beds .Michelin star restaurant is a bonus in this hotel it is expensive as all Michelin stars are Plenty options to check Menu pre booking We had a lovely room facing Marina and no noise issues thankfully Highly recommend this hotel with great location and one can walk everywhere Thanks to Gabrielle in reception for her courtesy ,professionalism ,and so accommodating with our reservation .
The food was outstanding. The location was the best! We loved the view and that we could walk everywhere!
Staff size of room and location weee excellent
Breakfast was a little hit and miss
Frühstück konnte man a la carte bestellen - keine Wünshce blieben offen.
We’ve just returned from a great stay at this super hotel. Ideally placed to enjoy all Lagos has to offer it offers a home from home experience with clean, comfortable rooms, excellent breakfasts and wonderful staff! Highly recommended.
Café da manhã excelente
Ar condicionado não funcionava a contento
Great location, beautiful facilities, yummy breakfast
Nothing
Convenient to the main are of Lagos. Rooms are clean, nicely appointed and soundproof. Breakfast was extensive.
Location, close to the main area. Good location to boat trips and resturants. Choice of beaches both 10 minute walks away.
Some of the famous beaches were a longer walk up a hill but to be honest they were very busy so I preferred the beaches closer to the hotel.
This hotel is in a prime location for the train, boat tours, walking about, and entertainment. The rooms are lovely and spacious. The rooftop pool was warm after a day on the boardwalk and the breakfast downstairs had some tasty options. The best part was the staff. They are welcoming and friendly. The front desk gave us some recommendations for places to eat and each one was a hit! Definitely would stay here again next visit.
Maravilloso
The hotel is in a perfect location within walking distance of the town where there are plenty of nice shops, restaurants and bars. It is very quiet and has beautiful views. The staff are very friendly and efficient. The breakfast is fantastic and the waiting staff cannot do enough for you.
There is just one thing that I didn’t like and that is the situation of the toilet and shower in the bedroom. The toilet and shower have privacy glass walls but there is just a curtain to separate this area from the bed and personally I don’t think it gives enough privacy. We booked one of the best rooms, a superior double with a marina view but I think all the rooms are laid out in the same way.
I had a really lovely stay at Avenida Lagos Hotel and would happily recommend it to anyone visiting the area. The hotel is very clean and well-maintained, which made it feel comfortable and relaxing from the moment I arrived. The rooms are spacious, bright, and thoughtfully set up, giving plenty of room to unwind after a day out. One of the highlights of my stay was the staff , they were incredibly helpful, welcoming, and always ready to assist with a smile. It really made a difference and added a personal touch to the experience. The breakfast was also very good, with a nice variety of options to start the day right. On top of that, the location is excellent, convenient for exploring Lagos and getting to nearby attractions. Overall, a great place to stay with a warm atmosphere and I’d definitely come back again.
WOW. What an amazing hotel, from the location to the friendly staff and incredible breakfast. Our room was at the back of the hotel and overlooked the roof of the farmers market (held only on Saturdays - well worth a visit - amazing fresh fruit and produce and flowers, nuts, honey, olives, etc). I wouldn't say it was a picturesque outlook but I would recommend it as it caught the afternoon and evening sunshine. As we visited in March and the weather was high teens and low 20's it was an amazing sun trap away from the wind. Bedroom is spacious, beds are exceptionally comfortable and pillows soft and enveloping. Hot showers, good lighting and fridge, hairdryer, kettle, air con, bath robes, slippers, all on offer. Take note, no hair conditioner in the shower. It was a lovely clean room and well soundproofed from the neighbouring rooms. The pool was heated during our stay but it was very windy up on the roof (but a lovely addition) so we relaxed back to our balcony. I agree with another reviewer here that I am glad I didn't pay more for the upgraded marina view rooms as there is a road in between the marina and the hotel. The afternoon/evening sun was a better option for us for our stay. Food - we only ate breakfast - BUT we made it last 2 hours every day!!! Rose prosecco on offer, along with juices, yoghurts, all breads, rolls, cheeses, hams, parma ham, pasteis de nata, caramel muffins, pastries, fried breakfast, omelettes, eggs, prawns. You can even ask for a steak and lamb chops (which we didn't). There is so much choice and the food is of such quality that I would highly recommend booking with the breakfast option. Location: just about a 12-15 minute walk to the old town and it's beautiful cobbled streets. We found a salsa dancing class going on in a pub and thoroughly enjoyed being swept around! Other food recommendations include Pepperino's and Meu Limao for the mussels and different choices of sauce options. We also took a train ride to Portimao (cost of 2 euros 50 each way) which was a nice visit and we ordered a lovely coffee and cake from A Casa Da Isabel. We had 3 coffee's and 2 cakes for just over 10 euro's - but the meringue cake looked to be the best seller! Great cakes and coffee.
Best aspect of this hotel was the breakfast by far. Great service and exceptional food, with lots of options even for someone with a gluten allergy.
The front desk service was lacking, they were quite rude at times. We asked about turning the AC on because the rooms were so warm we were all sweating and unable to sleep, and they were quite rude in telling us that it wasn’t possible because the whole hotel was on heat mode. Why have individual units in the room if we can’t use them? I appreciate the eco friendliness, I just wouldn’t have booked this place had I had known. Also being the off season, the pool area was basically closed though appreciated the heated pool. We thought it was a let down for the price.
Location was excellent. Breakfast very good.
Diner erg duur. Buffet was fijn geweest.
De ligging
Diner erg duur. Buffet is fijner.
We appreciated the cleanliness and how nice the staff were. The location is perfect and the decor of the hotel is really cool, especially the seating area in the lobby. Rooftop pool was a fun treat! Breakfast was awesome.
Comfortable and good breakfast
You advertise it has a wellness centre but it does not!
Breakfast was amazing, the room was beautiful, and the hotel was clean and well run
View, location, staff
Room was small. Sink and vanity was separated from shower and toilet. Odd design.
great
Ubicación
Desayuno excepcional. La mejor french toast del planeta
Lovely hotel with an amazing location. The breakfast was A la cart in a top rated restaurant for dinner. The room was ok but the receptionist was so kind helpful and super friendly which made a big difference. Will definitely recommend and stay again.
Zeer vriendelijk personeel, heerlijk ontbijt, verwarmd zwembad.
Staff was very friendly and fun. Had an amazing reveillon dinner experience.
Parking moved to public across the canal but still close
Perfect location, very good breakfast, friendly staff,
Everything was fine
Excellent location with stunning view of the harbor from the rooftop bar/pool area. Pool is heated and open in winter. Excellent restaurant for dinner and delicious breakfast is included. Easy street parking.
Excellent location and lovely staff.
Breakfast was awesome, lots of options, location excellent.
Great location, bar and restaurant on site, well laid out room, comfortable bed.
Nothing
Great location. Excellent staff
Room setup strange, bathroom see through.
Spot on location. Great vibe inside the breakfast menu was superb!
Nothing at all.
Breakfast was excellent, a good choice of food. Location was good, short walk to old town.
The shower/ toilet facilities in the room, there is no actual bathroom which meant no privacy.
Everything from the decor to the location and amenities were wonderful.
There was nothing I didn’t like about the property! The bed and bedding could have been a little better but I do know it is a 4 star and not a 5 star. No complaints the property was lovely!!!
This is a Michelin Guide hotel and restaurant-- I'm skipping to the best part--Breakfast. This hotel provides one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. The kitchen has a group of chefs that is superb--the quality of the food and the recipes that are prepared at Lagos Avenida for breakfast are amazing. Oatmeal with coconut and basil. Eggs with seasonings and French Toast Brioche. Fruit that tasted like it was picked minutes ago. An Iced Latte that was a visual delight. And all the wait staff are nice, funny, and superb at their job. What an experience. Other reviews have discussed the rooms--and my only comment would be that we had a city facing room on a high floor and did not notice any noise that others mentioned (we travel with a portable white noise machine--get one for your travels--and then it is never an issue! :) Overall--stay here. We were just at the hotel for a late night arrival and breakfast so didn't get to enjoy the beach, patio or pool but will return to this hotel on our next visit! Stay here.
How is this hotel not ranked #1? After the overpriced closet we stayed at in Lisbon I was amazed at how large our room was. 2 balconies with 3 sliding doors. We had a side view room so we faced the side and back, which we found preferable to avoid looking at the cranes across the marina and it was quieter. We heard no noise with the doors closed on the top floor. Yes you have a view of the bus station as well but so what, look past it. We could see part of the marina and water as well as the entire back view. Beautiful beachy decor in the bright sunny room and lobby with light colored wood. Automatic push button shades blocked all light - a nice touch. Amazing free breakfast in a lovely setting with plenty of seats, good svc and both a la carte and buffet options. (Oatmeal with white chocolate and dates!) There is also a high end restaurant in the hotel for dinner but we didn’t eat there. My only suggestions would be put some privacy glass on the shower. As others have said it’s odd to have a shower just in the room with zero privacy. It would also be better to have 2 separate beds vs 2 mattresses on 1 wooden platform. If you’re not a couple you don’t want to sleep that close. :) Lastly, keeping the pool open past 7 pm would be a nice touch. We considered staying at Meia Praia but so glad we chose this. Extremely convenient to the bus station, old town, marina and boat tours (this was great considering we had to go to the blue fleet office more than once bc our tour was cancelled one day due to rough seas). Very pretty rooftop area with bar, heated pool, and lounge chairs/umbrellas with 360 view. I also want to single out the young woman with long, straight black hair who worked mornings. So friendly and helpful. Others were certainly nice but not as warm as she. So glad she was the one who checked us in!! And she was the most helpful with restaurant suggestions. (Unless you’re coming in winter, book popular restaurants before you arrive. We didn’t realize how busy things are.) So sad to leave!
This hotel was the best in aesthetics. Service was phenomenal with Isaza helping us drag our luggage in to the nice waiter at breakfast ❤️❤️❤️tall dark and handsome just forgot his name. Rooftop bar bartender was awesome making us the best passionfruit sangria!! Housekeeping very helpful too! I would stay here again . It was delightful!!
Location, Pool, Design!
Should have breakfast and coffee bar avail for early guest check outs at 6am! The toilet glass walls are a joke and should be with a proper wall + door. The glass is lame.
Breakfast was great especially the a la carte part. The staff at the front desk was friendly and helpful.
I didn't like that even though we were told hotel had low occupancy, upgrade was turned down when requested. Also, the fact that the room is still offering powder coffee is out of this world! Please get with the program and invest on coffee machines. It is 2025!!
