Pleasant staff on checkin and in bar.
The room barely had room to walk around the beds. Decor basic. Bathroom had mould in it. The next morning breakfast was hit and miss I was told jam had not been delivered etc poor breakfast for price and a lot of excuses from the host. This could be be much better, not sure if we hit a bad time or this is regular. Certainly not value for money- overpriced.
Staff friendly
Shabby room - dated , not clean - toilet very dirty ( pedestal stained and not been cleaned for a long time) needed a lick of paint. Bed not very confortable - new mattress rqd. Bedroom door very difficult to lock. Breakfast not included yet when I booked it on website it showed it was. Evening meal - only one person in kitchen so booking s were taken in 30 minute intervals so had to wait over an hour just to order.
Jack was very welcoming and informative about the area. We requested and got a room with a king, very comfortable. Breakfast was nice and included, and dinner was absolutely wonderful. The service by all staf throughout our stay was wonderful and the inn is very charming.
The room had a bath which was ok, but a standup shower would have been nice.
Old style charm
Noise of guests shouting under bedroom window
Staff very helpful and friendly. Good location. Amazing breakfast. Dog friendly and everyone made us very welcome.
The bathroom was a little tired and one of the taps was just about to drop off.
The location was great for our needs and it looked cosy and quaint in the brochure photos.
A lot of the furnishings were very shabby and it would all have benefited greatly from a good clean ! Worst thing was our bedroom on the top floor which was over 40 degrees due to the heatwave. Dusty fans didn’t help, air conditioning is definitely necessary! The owner/manager was well aware of this and therefore shouldn’t have let the rooms in this condition as it was impossible to sleep.
Food as good service good
The room No shampoo Too congested
Nice clean room friendly staff lovely meals
Minor issues only. Room very warm(weather not their fault) but as blinds at window instead of curtains even with window open there was no fresh air coming into the room. Had to ask for milk for our tea and spare toilet roll small housekeeper problem
The food was excellent, both for breakfast and dinner. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, aiming to please. The Coach House is ideally placed for visits to Rutland Water, Burghley House, Stamford and Oakham.
No real dislikes to report.
The staff at the accommodation are just so lovely and super helpful .
Good location to get around and good parking
Slightly disappointed with the daily service of the room, water and milk not replaced, did report an problem with the window handle, which I fix myself, head room in the bathroom could be a issue if any taller.
Location, parking, food and staff
Nothing
Staff tried hard
No 'continental' type breakfast on offer. Shower was impossible in my room because of available space. Room was very hot and the provided fan did little to help.
We had problems getting the TV in the room to work but wasn't a major issue
clean. easy to find. close to Stamford.
Mobile reception poor and took a while to get a taxi. But didn't affect the stay.
Location
Broken bed and no hot water
Staff excellent, food excellent
Thought the bedroom needed updating and the stairs and landing areas needed cleaning
Lovely place to stay and eat.
Clean and cosy
Location good for dog show I went to
It was very hot in the top of the building and although a fan was provided it was very effective
Super friendly coach house. Very dog friendly. Lovely dinner. Everyone couldn't have been more helpful & attentive
Lovely people, lovely place to be.
Evening meal was good
Decor rather tired looking
Bed was comfortable
Property really needs updating. It isn't really in walking distance to anywhere and it is on a main road so there is traffic noise. The tv reception was terrible so you couldn't watch anything and the en-suite was tiny.
Nice breakfast - very filling. Staff were the saving grace to this property. Emily & her mum offer exceptional service and they deserve to manage a property as good as they are.
Room was very dated. Mattress incredibly uncomfortable. No dressing table. Lack of sockets. Not particularly clean due to all furnishings being tired and dated. Bathroom effectively a cupboard, and the shower enclosure tiles & fittings riddled with black mould.
Great pub, food was tasty and the service was good. much work.
The room is dated, bed very low, TV had only 2 channels working, couldn't get anything else to work. Main light didn't work either. No proper shower and the rooms were noisy. It's a shame as they could do a lot better for the accomodation without much effort
The landlady was fabulous. Really friendly and extra helpful. Nothing seemed too much bother .
Location and staff
Nothing.
Friendly staff , clean and tidy evey thing you need.for a night stay comfortable bed
Fabulous little coaching house. Very comfortable and brilliant breakfast.
Nothing really perhaps the low ceiling in the en-suite if I’m being picky.
Very friendly staff My husband really enjoyed the chicken pie
The bathroom was hard to stand up in and the bed had a very soft mattress
Breakfast and evening meals were very good. As little or more as you liked for breakfast with multiple variations of cooked breakfast. A pleasant stay in a pretty village not too far from Stamford, Oakham and the A1. Staff were very polite and helpful. Comfortable bed.
Room probably needs a repaint.
Nice bright dining room. Cosy inviting bar area
Our room was quite small but had everything we needed
Lovely country pub, Staff were friendly and the food was good.
Unfortunately the bed was the worst I’ve ever slept in, very low and the mattress was old and uncomfortable, left a day early.

What a little gem we found with the coach house. Set in a beautiful little hamlet very close to Rutland Water and the historical town of Stamford. We were made welcome from the time we arrived. The room was comfortable and had everything we needed for our short stay. We had a meal in the restaurant and the chef made a special vegan meal for me which was delicious. The generous portion of fish and chips was good too. We had a good hearty breakfast with plenty of choice and after a quick chat with the chef and the offer of another tempting vegan meal it led us to book a second evening meal which did not dissappoint. The bar area was lively with locals which is always a good sign and full of original charm given the age of the building. We would definately stay again and reccomend a visit to this charming little Inn steeped in history.
A warm welcome, from both staff and locals, delicious food, and a comfy bed await at this rural gem. Special thanks to the local Welsh representative and to the landlady’s daughter, who ensured my full enjoyment of the available refreshments. Apologies for the late night.
I didn’t like having to leave…
Friendly staff from checking in to leaving
Stayed in 'Luffenham' room on top floor. Very hot, even with a fan. Not enough plug sockets- bedside had lamps which could be snuggled but 'standard' 3 pin plugs would not fit!!
A convenient location for a family visit. Very nice and welcoming staff.
Nothing to complain about.
Good location welcoming friendly staff excellent food
Nothing
Traditional coach house with a warm friendly feel. Staff were warm and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Big shout out to the chef whose carbonara was the best I’ve tasted in a very long time!!
We didn’t have any complaints about the property or staff. We will be sure to return for another stay.
Locations, staff, food, room. We'd stay again.
Two things stopped it being perfect, the TV didn't have any signal and the hotel confirmed our request for a double bed but we were given twin beds instead.
The room was comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful.
The TV didn’t work very well at times and the decor in our room (Luffenham) needs a bit of TLC.
Amazing food, all localy produced and cooked by the proprietor-chef.
TV reception in the room. Intermittent signal.
Friendly and helpful staff
I think the room looked a bit tired needed a lick of paint
They were incredibly welcoming.. The meal was good and the inn had a lovely ambiance. They had sorted out a twin room for us especially and gave us fresh milk for our room plus some chocolate brownies.
Nothing.
Really nice place to stay, comfortable room and nice bar downstairs.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was delicious.
Rooms needed a bit of TLC.
Fantastic hotel and pub.
Nothing.
Convenient location for visit I was making. Parking avaiable. Clean room and good quality linen Comfortable bed Excellent breskfast.
Nothing .
Great food, great hosts in the evening (less so at breakfast!). Emily & her Mum run a great ship during the evening, but at breakfast in their absence it almost sank. To be fair there was just a chef running the kitchen & FOH on his own, with a full breakfast room, but some acknowledgment prior to me going into the kitchen would have been nice! We waited over 45 minutes for service, but I haven’t knocked my scores down as the guy was fine when he did get to us. Great breakfast - but very dry in the absence of beans & mushrooms.
No new potatoes! (A joke for Emily!). 🤣 Seriously though, the poor breakfast chef needs someone running FOH & serving drinks & food with him, not to be left to do it alone with 5 tables of guests all waiting. Add beans & mushrooms to the breakfast choices, it’s very dry without them!
Friendly and welcoming staff, food was delicious and there was a great village buzz in the bar which really added to the atmosphere.
Not really a complaint as we know it's an old pub, but it would be good to add some double glazing to the bedroom window to dampen down the noise of road traffic
Breakfast wasn’t consistent as the full English varied according to who was working and didn’t get what I was told I would get
Sausages were not very tasty and could do with cooking better. There was a old ladder in our room with wood worm which I presume was to get out of the high window in the event of a fire.
Really friendly staff, very warm and welcoming. Dinner and breakfast was excellent, very high quality.
Excellent staff and chef. Very welcoming.
Hospitality was excellent as was the food👍
Room was not clean, TV was not tuned in. However at less than £60 for the night I can't really fault it as I was just looking for somewhere to lay my head down.
The chef was amazing. The evening meal was divine. The staff were lovely and helpful. The Inn was in a pretty village away from busy roads.
I thought the breakfast was included in the price, but was told it wasn't when I checked in. Booking.com need to consult with the inn on this as it still says breakfast included on the website. I wouldn't class the room as luxury. It was a big bed in a small room with the bathroom with a slopping sealing. It was fine, all we needed, but not luxury. Just a misleading tag. There was a door on a landing which would be safer closed for fire safety but was wedged open. I closed it but someone wedged it open again.
Very friendly, fabulous food we had lunch evening meal and a great breakfast. most welcoming, will definitely stay again
Lovely local pub, stayed for work so ideal for location just outside Stamford. Very friendly staff, good food, good value. Would stay again if I needed to. Clean comfortable room. Nice to see a pub still popular with the locals
The food was good, the restaurant was quaint and the staff were very polite and couldn't do enough for you. There was ample to eat.
The place could do with a little tlc and the tv could have been better, as it kept cutting out. The noise from the bar on a Friday night may be a disturbance to some but thankfully it didn't bother us.
Friendly, welcoming staff and conveniently located.
The mattress was very soft and uncomfortable - I could feel the springs.
Very accommodating host. They even rang me to ask what time I was arriving so that the pub kitchen would prepare food for me.
The earliest breakfast could be served on the Sunday was 0830. With it being a work trip, a 0800 breakfast would have been ideal. It is well worth highlight that the freshly cooked breakfast was fantastic and the host was able to kindly ensure that I was served first so that I could get on my way sharpish. I will be staying again.
The warm welcome and the food was first class
Parking was initially a bit tricky but that’s due to the time we arrived - which coincided with a busy time in the public bar on a Friday evening.
A quaint country pub, serving good food. Staff were very friendly & keen to please.
Our room on the second floor was quite small, the bathroom wasn't very warm & the bed was too soft for us I'm afraid. Additionally, the TV wasn't very reliable & needed retuning every time it was put on.
Very good breakfast with lovely, friendly staff on both mornings we stayed.
The TV in the room was ancient and had no HDMI socket to plug our devices into.
Breakfast was excellent as was our evening meal.
Staff were really welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was excellent and we also had lunch there which was also great. Great location. The
Great location for my stop travelling to London from Scotland. It really is excellent value. The food is great and the staff very helpful. The breakfast is the highlight, full English, super value at £15. The rooms are comfortable and clean.
Nothing to add here.
Cosy and comfortable room in an unspoilt old building, with really good freshly cooked food at dinner and breakfast and friendly staff. Fresh milk for tea and coffee in the room. The pub is in a small, quaint village.
It was a bit cold in the bar, .
Excellent stay for the evening, comfortable clean rooms. Great breakfast Friendly staff
Friendly accommodating hosts in a great location
Excellent breakfast, very friendly staff made to feel very welcome, by staff and locals very good beer and food , would recommend
All was fine for my expectations
We had a wonderful stay at The Coach House Inn in South Luffenham. From the moment we arrived the team made us feel completely at home; there was a genuine warmth to the welcome that never felt forced, just friendly and relaxed. Nothing was too much trouble and there was a sense that they really cared that we enjoyed our time there. The food was exceptional for the price. The menu is not vast, which we actually appreciated; it is focused, with a smaller number of dishes done to a very high standard and offered at very reasonable prices. The beer was well kept too, which is always a good sign. Breakfast deserves a special mention. It was outstanding – probably the best we have ever had at any hotel – with generous portions, quality ingredients and everything cooked perfectly. And finally, a word for Belle the dog, who was an absolute delight and even took it upon herself to show us around the village of South Luffenham. A lovely place, lovely people and we would happily return.
If I had to mention anything we struggled with, it would be more about my own mobility than the hotel itself. The Coach House Inn is a lovely old building, which does mean steep stairs and no lift. When you book via Booking.com you are automatically allocated rooms at the top of the building which, if like me you find stairs a bit of a challenge, can make getting to and from the room hard work. It would be helpful if this was made a little clearer at the booking stage and, for anyone with mobility issues, I would strongly recommend contacting the hotel directly in advance to ask about a room on a lower floor. The team are so friendly and accommodating that I am sure they would do whatever they can to help.
Very friendly service and a clean, cosy room with ensuite.
We had breakfast and evening meal and both were delicious. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The accommodation was perfectly positioned for our visits to Rutland Water Nature Reserve, Stamford and Burghley House.
Car park was crowded early evening. Arrive during afternoon or after work commuting is over!
Lovely room at the top of the building with everything you could need and a large comfy bed. Lovely location
The bathroom has a bath with shower head attachment as it is in the eves space, so if you prefer a shower then this may not be the room for you
Very friendly, great food and excellent service. Really went out of their way to make your stay great start to finish. Breakfast was great and everything cooked fresh.
Pool table upstairs is a great feature. But there are lots of broken cues and cues with no tips. Only one available for use.
We had a lovely stay in the Coach House Inn. We were in the area at a sailing regatta on Rutland Water. The hotel was less than 10 minutes from the venue, so perfectly placed. It was lovely and warm and cozy to come back to after a cold day on the water. We had a delicious meal and enjoyed playing pool & chess in the evenings. The staff were all really accomodating and friendly. Big thank you to Emma for making our stay so pleasant!
nothing
Fantastic, let us check in early because we had a weeding to attend. Staff was really helpful, especially Emma who went above and beyond, we left our car at the wedding place and she gave us a lift to our car. Can't fault this hotel 5*****
Nothing
Old property but beautifully warm
Nothing
The location was ideal, plus it offered evening meals and breakfast all in one location without the need to leave.
Nothing it was a great place to stay.
Friendly staff, nice country pub, comfy beds and room, quiet. Not too far from the lovely Rutland Water and the interesting old town of Oakham
The carpet in the room was a bit smelly and needed renewing. The location is NOT in Oakham as described in the website. It is about 9 miles away on slow country roads. We were a bit surprised at that
The staff were very accommodating and performed over and above what was required, very friendly and a lovely breakfast.
Poor tv reception but didn’t spoil the stay
The staff at The Coach House were very friendly and helpful and got me checked in quickly and efficiently. They were also working in the bar that night and made sure I had everything I needed and helped me with deciding what food to order. The room was small but cozy, and the bed was a large single. I slept fine. I'm just sorry I didn't have time to stay for breakfast!
The room was quite small (but perfectly adequate for a 1-night stay for one person). The bed was also quite low to the ground. Anyone with hip or knee issues might find it quite tricky to get out of it.
We love the location it was close to Rutland Waters. Visiting with the dog and make us and the dog so welcomed was amazing!! Breakfast experience was amazing. The quality of breakfast was superb ! Emma her self make us feel so welcomed and all team was very attentive. Bed was very comfy and room were great size for all 3 of us.
Nothing like everything 😌
Lovely vibe to the place.
Good freshly cooked food . Comfortable bed .
Quite small room .
Staff were amazing, great food and very accommodating.
