Pakping Hostel

Koki was an amazing staff. The location was great, I could basically walk to the main points of Chiang Mai. I liked the neighborhood a lot. It's honestly one of the cheapest stays and it was very worth it! The bed was comfortable, and I appreciated the capsule setting, which provided me enough privacy when needed.

Breakfast was only served after a certain hour. In Chiang Mai most of the day trips start very early, so I was only able to have breakfast once out of a four days stay.

Koki & Paul are amazing and welcoming hosts. The hostel is spotless and has such a chill vibe. Really enjoyed our stay!

Staying here felt a bit like visiting friends from university who had invited me to stay at their place. The location is fantastic, the atmosphere is lovely, and I genuinely really enjoyed my time here. The hostel was very clean, and the hosts were incredibly helpful and easy to communicate with. I really appreciated their recommendations and happily followed quite a few of them. As a vegetarian, I was especially grateful for the restaurant suggestions, they were all fantastic! The beds were comfortable and well prepared, and the lockers were great too, with individual keys provided. I absolutely loved my stay in this part of Thailand. It’s a place I’d love to return to and explore for longer, and I would definitely choose to stay at this hostel again. I’m really rooting for the owners and hope they continue to grow and run this wonderful place for a long time to come.

I’m not a fan of having a bathroom in the room. If you happen to have noisy roommates, it can be quite disruptive. I personally used the shared bathroom one floor below so I wouldn’t disturb the others.

A really friendly, modern hostel. In a great location too. The lady on the front desk was amazing, she went above and beyond to help me with storing my luggage and giving me recommendations for onward travel. The breakfast offerings and filtered water were great and really useful.

I got bitten a lot by mosquitoes one night but I think this was because I was closest to the window.

Pakping Hostel — Old City, Chiang Mai One of the best experiences of my entire trip through Southeast Asia. The hostel has a great location in the old city, but what really makes it special is the team, especially Koki at reception. Koki went way beyond what you'd expect from any accommodation: she helped me sort out an issue with a motorbike rental, mediating and handling everything with a patience and professionalism that you really appreciate while traveling. And as if that wasn't enough, I left a pair of shoes at reception when I left Chiang Mai, and she personally arranged to send them to me all the way to Pattaya, hundreds of kilometers away, asking for nothing in return. This kind of care isn't something you find just anywhere. If you're heading to Chiang Mai, stay at Pakping Hostel, and if you're lucky enough to be helped by Koki, know that you're in the best possible hands. Highly recommended.

everything was super clean, and the host was the sweetest, there is a small kitchen area which was very hand, perfect place for people who want it to be peaceful

L’auberge est vraiment super; bien agencée, avec des lits confortables et une literie propre. Les dortoirs sont bien sûr équipés de la climatisation. Les lieux communs sont très propres. L’auberge est située par ailleurs dans une rue très calme à deux pas du très beau temple Wat Phra. Enfin, la propriétaire est très sympathique ! Ne ratez pas l’occasion d’y séjourner.

One of the best hostels I’ve stayed at! I only came for 2 nights and ended up staying for more than a week. This place feels like home and Koki the person who runs it is warm and welcoming. It’s so close to everything and if you want a safe and cozy hostel and to meet amazing people, this is the place! Highly recommended for anyone visiting Chiang Mai ❤️

The hospitality and cleanliness were outstanding, but what truly makes this place special is the owner. She goes above and beyond in every way extremely kind, caring, and genuinely involved in your travels. She makes you feel like family. The whole hostel has a peaceful, chill vibe and all the guests reflect that energy. Beautiful person, beautiful place.

Die Sauberkeit wird hier sehr hoch geschrieben. Es wird regelmässig geputzt, im gemischten Schlafsaal darf man die grossen Rucksäcke nicht reinnehmen; aus Platzgründen aber auch, um unter anderem Käferchenbefall zu vermeiden. Es stehen aber Spints zur Verfügung. Es gibt ein leichtes Frühstück (Cornflakes, Toast, Milch, Kaffee, Fruchtsaft) gratis dazu. Zudem hat es eine Wasserstation, wo man gratis die Wasserflaschen auffüllen kann. Die Leute sind super freundlich, man kann auch Touren mit ihnen buchen. Es hat alles in der Nähe (Restaurants, Massage, Muay Thai, Park, ...).

Ya es mi segunda vez en este hostel y sigo extendiendo mi estadía. No es un simple hostel, es un hogar en Chiang Mai. Las instalaciones son cómodas y todo está súper limpio. Incluye toalla gratis y desayuno, cosa poco común. Koki es una persona adorable y siempre está dispuesta a ayudar en todo lo que precises.

I had a great stay at Pakping ! Koki and her staff were so welcoming and made me feel at home immediately ! The location of the hostel is great and a lot of things can be done within a walking distance. The hostel itself is super clean, and very comfortable. I definitely recommend staying at Pakping !

The location is absolutely excellent for Chiang Mai; nestled in the heart of Old City it is right in the centre of the action but, tucked into a sidestreet, suffers from no noise pollution from the area surrounding. The property itself is wonderful; the rooms are very clean, with super air-conditioning and privacy curtains for the beds in dorms. It has a great 'chill out' area that is also easy to work from with super-fast WiFi, and there is also a nice area to eat and prepare snacks (with a microwave, free coffee and a fridge available to use). The owners Paul & Koki are also lovely, with lots of good advice on things to do in the area and excursions.

Me gustó mucho, la chica y la mujer que vi ahí trabajando eran súper agradables. Llegué antes de la hora del check in y pude dejar mi maleta ahí y como tenía una cita importante me dejaron ducharme aunque no pudiera hacer el check in todavía, se agradece mucho ese tipo de gestos. Además, el lugar era muy bonito y estaba muy limpio, me encantó. Cuando vuelva a Chiang Mai el próximo año me quedo aquí 100%

I stayed in the private room (there is only one). It’s a lovely room, large window looking out over the city with lots of natural light, it’s on the top floor so there’s a few stairs you have to go up (no elevator). Room has no kettle, so prepare a large water bottle. No hair dryer. Basic soap and shampoo provided in shower. Bed and linens are really comfortable, very soft, softest bed I’ve had in a long while. It can get hot but there’s a AC unit and it works super quickly. WiFi was reliable throughout my stay. The hostel can help you organize some tours. The hostel has two common areas, one for lounging and one for eating food. They have a common fridge you can use. No food or drinks except water allowed in any of the rooms, also no large bags in the dorm, large bags are kept in lockers downstairs. This is to prevent bugs from being attracted to the rooms. It’s possible to meet people here, but it’s not a super social hostel and certainly not a party hostel, it is quiet during the day and at night. Location is good, walking distance from many sites and with lots of restaurants and massage places around. Owner is really friendly. There’s a small, simple breakfast provided in the morning. Check out is 12pm.

Comfortable and clean hostel. Dorm beds had AC, curtains, electric sockets for each bed. The host is super nice and went out of her way to help me with bus tickets. Location inside the walled city.

The place was nice and cosy. It's on the quiet side of the area but also walking distance to the Sun night market, Sat night market and other places. Lots of good reviews of the massage shop nearby there. Can walk the old city square around 10-15min walk to one spot. Grab bike or car also will be cheap to any place from here like the One Nimman area. The owner is a couple and they are friendly and can speak English. I took the private room which is on the top floor so be prepared to carry your luggage up the stairs of 3 storeys. The room was nice and spacious. The toilet was good as well. I like the bed and pillow, both are soft. The bed maybe too soft as I felt like I'm sinking but still nice to sleep on. Fridge you need to share in the kitchen area. So far no need to worry of no space or people stealing it. It wasn't that crowded on the days I was there. So plenty of space to sit in the kitchen and also the lounging area. Got hot and cold water dispenser to refill your water daily. You can use the kitchen utensils for your meals. There's a microwave too. You are only allowed to eat at the kitchen area to prevent ants or cockroaches in the room. Simple breakfast is also available in the morning but I skip it as I wanted to eat Thai food outside. So can't comment on that.

My only issue was with the shower head. I didn't like how the spray of the water came out. It's a bit hard to shower especially when washing my hair. The building is also not sound proof as it is an old building so you will hear other people from the dorms going in & out of their room or using the shared toilet. But it was not bad during my time since not many people.

Best hostel in Chiang Mai! Highly recommend it.

It's a simple, clean hostel, but Koki (the host) makes all the difference. If you ask her for help she goes way beyond what is necessary and she just makes you feel at home. She anticipates needs and will research anything you would want to know. Don't expect parties or social activities, but a quiet place to call your home away from home.

De locatie is top! Volop leuke en lekkere eettentjes op loopafstand te vinden. De accommodatie zelf heeft een heerlijke rustige sfeer. Het personeel is super vriendelijk, behulpzaam en denkt graag met je mee.

住宿地點在老城的巷弄中，遠離酒吧和交通大道，適合晚上喜歡安靜休息的旅客。 另外一個值得稱讚的地方是，大型行李必須鎖在2F的置物櫃中，房間則在3F和4F，可以減少旅客在房間中開開關關大型行李所造成的噪音，讓房間成為真正安靜休息的地方。 櫃檯接待人員很友善、健談。

It was my second time at Pakping. I stayed here for 16 nights, and I would definitely choose them again. My first stay was in the female room (2023), but this year I chose to stay in the 10-bed mixed room (cheaper). Bed: Super comfortable, with curtains, a private locker, and drawers. You also get a private locker. (Big enough to hang some clothes and save your bag) AC: Works all the time Bathroom: You get a shared bathroom for females and another one for males. Breakfast: Toast, Cereal, Coffee / Tea, Honey, Milk (Soy Milk too!) Juice, Toasts. Kitchen: Fridge available + Kitchen elements to have all your meals (It's not possible to cook) Location: The best!! Close to everything and at the same time far from the chaos. Atmosphere: Hard to explain, but for some reason, I feel this is a safe place for women. I would describe it as a nice, small hostel for Digital Female Nomads. Wifi works great, desks are available for working, and it is almost always quiet. I was working at that moment, but needed some time to study and I could find the peace and silince I needed.

The shared bathroom has only 1 toilet and 2 showers. The toilet is inside one of the showers, so when someone is taking a bath, you need to go downstairs and use the common toilet (Kitchen floor). It is not comfortable when the mix room is occupied mainly by women.

I had such a lovely stay at this hostel. What I appreciated the most was how peaceful and calm everything felt, perfect place if you really want to rest. Koki at reception was amazing. She genuinely cares, gives great recommendations, and is always happy to help with anything you need. You can really feel that she wants you to have the best possible experience. I loved how quiet and cool it was inside, a real escape from the heat outside. The beds are very comfortable, so it’s easy to get a good night’s sleep. The hostel is kept incredibly clean. The location is perfect too. Super recommended!!

今回だけかもしれないが寝室内が静かで宿泊者のモラルが高かった。 寝室内は清潔で涼しかった。 スタッフが欠かさず挨拶をしてくれて笑顔で対応してくれた。おすすめ観光スポットも教えてもらった。

The owner / manager was extremely friendly, accomodating and helpful. The dorms were very comfortable.

I found the other guests, with one or two exceptions, were extremely reserved and basically just ignored me. Maybe I'm too fat, old and scary looking? This is something I have experienced in other hostels too, but it was particularly pronounced here. Of course this is not a criticism of the hostel, only a feeling of loneliness (as a solo traveler) and rejection, which is a bit sad. Thankfully the owner / manger lady compensated for this with her warmth, friendliness and hospitality.

Ich habe mich im Pakping-Hostel vom ersten Moment an super wohl gefühlt! Das familiengeführte Hostel ist sehr auf guten Service und Sauberkeit bedacht. Es gibt gratis Wasser und man kann sich in der Küche ein Frühstück zubereiten, wobei es fußläufig viele wunderbare Lokale gibt. Das La Naview bietet sogar ein großzügiges Frühstücksbuffet zum kleinen Preis an - sehr zu empfehlen! Die Lage des Pakping-Hostels in der Altstadt ist top!

This place felt like a home away from home, Koki along with the cleaning lady truly try their best to accomodate all their guests' wishes and needs. The hostel is beautifully designed with great attention to detail, spotless clean with cozy communal areas. A very quiet place, yet you always get to meet nice fellow travellers. The location is perfect, right in the very centre of the old town but a little bit hidden in a side street from the noise of the city. If I ever come back to Chiang Mai, I will definitely stay here again!

Koki is the absolute sweetest! Wishing her much blessings to come. The cleaning staff is also very sweet an efficient.

Only thing is the toilet is such a tight space you basically have to sit sideways if you are a little taller than most. Also the shower head placement. You either have to turn it to the wall or get pretty aggressively sprayed if its facing you.

如果超過18:00入住，就只能自行按照屋主指示，按圖索驥，雖然不是大問題，但 check out 以後，行李就無法放超過18:00

Sehr nette Mitarbeiter, man fühlt sich sofort wie Zuhause. Alles ist sehr sauber gehalten und die Lage ist auch perfekt da man zu Fuß alles erreicht. Eine kleine Küche ist ebenfalls vorhanden und ein schöner Gemeinschaftsraum.

Beim Frühstück könnte es ein bisschen mehr Auswahl geben.

Insgesamt hat mir die Unterkunft gut gefallen, das Personal war sehr nett, Wasserspender und gratis Frühstück, Kühlschrank und Gefrierschrank, bequemes Bett

leider nicht so viel Platz um den Rucksack/Koffer zu öffnen, Schrank zum abschließen nicht besonders groß, mein 50l Rucksack hat gerade so reingepasst (6er Frauenschlafsaal), unangenehmer Geruch im Bad

Very helpful staff, exceptionally clean. Clean towels and clean bathroom, you can tell they make this a priority. The owner was always giving helpful tips, I saw her talk with everyone. There is a good community sense there to be nice and respectful. All in all had a great experience. Breakfast = coffee, tea, cereals, and some spreads.
