Provider-sourced guest reviews.
The location was ideal and it was beautiful surroundings.
The photos on the website under the room we booked did not match the room we had. The room had an odd smell, the bath was all peeling at the bottom and the shower glass and shower head was filthy. There was no milk and the curtains let through light as they were almost netting material. We were really disappointed as the photos made it look beautiful.
Our host was lovely, accommodation was modern and stylish and clean very comfortable, position of the property was perfect ,on the river near to the iron bridge. The food was very nice ,hot and plenty of choice.
Nothing ,we had a lovely stay .
Breakfast great sausage could do with being cooked a bit more, room clean and comfy great location
No parking and quite noisy due to live music
Breakfast was great , and staff were friendly
Room was clean , pillows were hard and the music from downstairs was ridiculous, definitely need some sound proofing !
The shower had no pressure cobwebs on the lights holes in the walls asked for toilet rolls and also was only given three tea bags and coffee and sugar and strong smell of dram we paid for thee nights and when I said I wood be paying by cash we were told we couldn't because of money laundering
Room was clean but in a poor state of repair. Looked very tired.
Location Room Friendly staff Lovely evening meal and breakfast
Could do with a clean in the harder to see places
Every thing
Beautiful location. Food delicious and good potions. Staff couldn't do enough to help. Excellent stay.
Amazing stay, however, room layout could be better. There was a dressing table in the room, but there was no light or sockets so couldn't use it for make up/hairdryer. However, small price to pay for the service received.
Beer garden was lovely and being able to choose whether your dined in or outside. The size of the room we stayed in was a generous size and good water pressure.
The bed was horrendous. Not designed for someone on the larger side. We’re not skinny people but not huge either, the bed was a metal frame and had thin wooden slats, 2 of which kept dropping out and 1 of them was already broken. We were nervous about moving in the bed incase we broke it, and when you did move it squeaked. The sofa was underneath the tv, so couldn’t really use it to sit and watch tv but not the end of the world. And although not the worst the cleaning wasn’t great and they appear to have a bit of a mold issue, the smell of air freshener mixed in with damp.m and patches dotted around the room and in the shower. Could do with a blind or curtain over the main door as the outside light was shining through all night.

Helpful pleasant customer service
Food could have been a little more vegan friendly although the staff did their best with limited alternatives available...
We were put in the cottage and it was exceptional
Nothing to complain about
Location was good, seemed a bit understaffed at times but very helpful when approached
No anti slip mat in shower , no toilet brush, no shelf in bathroom all toiletries gad to sit on the floor or the sink, the room had no window so got a bit stuffy, and no direct daylight.
The property is in a great location, minutes away from all the shops and the iron bridge , great outdoor area for drinks, and the food and especially the breakfast was spot on
Our room ! Shower plug was blocked and filled with water in the tray , bed was un comfy and squeaky , loud music from down stairs until late at night , making the room shake and impossible to sleep until it had stopped , was not warned of this at booing stage … toilet was stained yellow and loose , noise from corridor and doors banging , and very thin walls could hear neighbours taking and snoring
Big spacious rooms very clean and beds very comfortable.
Bed frames very creaky and noisy otherwise very comfortable.
Handy on the high street pub modern and clean
Disappointed in the accomidation in the building next to the pub. needs a good clean inside and out and a coat of paint to help it look like superior accommodation
didn't realise we where so close to ironbridge, the little village and shops where lovely to walk around
The room was very close to the pub, so whenever you needed assistance from staff, you had to walk through the pub to speak to someone. The bathroom was separate from the room, this must have been a mistake on my side when booking, However, we had to leave the room and walk across a short landing to use it. It was also located very close to the neighbouring room, which felt awkward. The staircase leading to the room was shabby and dirty, and it was a long walk up. The approach to the room was dark and dingy and did not create a welcoming first impression when walking up to the rooms. Another family member joined us on the trip and also booked accommodation. I had assumed she would be staying in the same building, but on arrival her room was located in a separate building away from us. The bathroom window also overlooked the main road, which did not feel very private. What was advertised as a courtyard appeared to be more of a lean-to area attached to the back wall, and it smelled damp when we arrived. The pictures were very deceiving and did not reflect the accommodation either of us stayed in. My family member was uncomfortable staying on her own, so my sister stayed with her, leaving me alone in my room listening to the music from the pub throughout the night. My TV also did not work. By that point I had already showered and changed into my pyjamas, so I did not want to walk back through the pub again to speak to staff. Overall, Ironbridge is a lovely place to visit, but based on our experience I would choose somewhere quieter and more exclusive next time.
RIGHT IN TOWN
A LITTLE BIT TIRED. COULD USE A BIT OF A RE-FRESH
Room was fantastic breakfast fantastic staff fantastic
Only sad face is the bed was very noisy
The place was absolutely filthy, the manager didn't seem bothered, she did get us another room in their other place (the swan) next door, that was cleaner but still extremely poor cleaning standards
We booked for 2 nights as my partner as been extremely poorly and we needed a break,we couldn't even unpack the case as there was only 1 coat hanger, but it was dirty everywhere
Breakfast was lovely. Room very quiet. Good location
Room was a bit tatty upon arrival. Wallpaper coming away. There was a freestanding bath in the room but was not plumbed in ?? Poor finishes
The venue was lovely as were the staff and the breakfast was amazing.
Nothing.
Lots of potential to be lovely. Bar area decorated nicely, room was generally clean with afew exceptions.
Everything needs a good clean! Glasses need polishing, breakfast cups need stains removed, Chest of drawers in the bedroom had crumbs on and when we rinsed down the shower after use there was dirt/mould coming off the tiles. Several things we asked for had run out (basic things) and breakfast was served with Nescafé sachets, teabags in a mug (no teapot), very cheap tasting orange juice.
The location
Loud music until 12 midnight. This is just a personal thing amdnwasn't the venue's fault. I just wouldnt gobhere again on the basis that we preferred quiet. The hallway in the building ehere the rooms were, were quite run down and the whole building needed renovating. The pub was understaffed but they really did their best.
Evening meal was reasonable
Vey noisy till at least midnight. Room / bathroom, mugs at breakfast we’re discussing, cleanliness was an issue . Some staff weren’t very helpful . Room was above the concert hall and extremely noisy till very late . Room was very warm and unable to open the windows there.
Good location. Friendly staff. Live music
The Penthouse Suite not quite as quirky as it used to be. No fans, exposed wires showing behind kitchen area (fridge)
Great location
No air conditioning
Room had no windows so had to leave door open and passage window open to get some air in the room. Fan was also on but only worked ok when door and passage window open.
Location
Everything!
The location
The attitude of the manger was awful and the room was so dirty ( we cannot upload all the photos)We asked to be moved as I suffer with IBS and our toilet was separate from the room and didn’t feel safe. My husband was having a shower and someone tried to come in the room. I didn’t sleep well because I felt like someone could have easily come in the room. We asked to be moved and they said there no more rooms. We asked for a refund and she said go through booking.com. We decided to stay because it was our wedding anniversary and had no choice. The room was so dirty and the bathroom smelt really bad the plug socket wasn’t safe to use. Then we’re having a drink outside and could see the manager putting notices on the tables saying reservations so I asked if we could and she said no they had closed there reservations and it was first come first served even though we were staying there? Then at breakfast we asked for orange juice to be told they sold our last night? The whole continental station was very limited and messy. We are absolutely gutted we have stayed her for the last 10-12 years and the overall stay and the attitude and cleanliness was disgusting. If we could have stayed anywhere else or gone home we would have.
The score for this hotel is unfair, it is much better than that. The staff were friendly and accommodating, the rooms were nice (we had 5 rooms). And yes, it’s above a pub but when the place closes it goes quiet, and the pub is nice, the ale well kept and again the staff very good - we recommend. Good breakfast and a special thank you the the manager Alicia
Foody quibbles with the food but it’s a pub not a restaurant.
The welcome was professional and very friendly.
Nothing
Good location.
Toilet wasn't working properly.
We had a fantastic stay at The Malt House. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming, friendly and helpful, which really made us feel at home. The live music created a brilliant atmosphere, the food was delicious, and our room was lovely—clean, comfortable and well presented. The bathroom was also modern and spotless. Overall, we honestly couldn't fault our stay. Everything exceeded our expectations, and we had a really enjoyable weekend. We'd definitely recommend The Malt House and would happily stay again.
Location good..food good..staff good..entertainment good
Didn't get fresh towels..had to ask for shower gel..bed very small and room (parlour)..no where in bathroom fir toiletries.. a shelf above basin would be useful.
Friendly staff, great food, comfortable safe atmosphere, clean rooms, perfect location. Reasonably priced and well run, the staff were super helpful. Breakfast was outstanding
Was very noisy it was a Saturday night and was half one before the noise stopped! Although the band was great I could hear them from the bedroom. It finished at 11:30 which was reasonable but the noise afterwards made sleep difficult.
Friendly staff, location excellent Clean and comfy room
Disappointed breakfast, given we were in not long after opening items were either over or under cooked... White mugs stained inside, which was of putting, (not good) which could of been afforded, with some hot water... Drainage in bathroom slow running Loo
Just the right accommodation that we needed, right location very friendly staff.
N/A
Pillows lumpy, bed squeaked constantly, no fan in room, room not aired or curtains drawn so due to extreme high temperatures it was unbearable. No where in bathroom to put your toiletries.
Loved the size; it was so spacious. The bathroom was so big with a lovely conservatory as an added bonus for our coffee in the morning. Fantastic location, a few minutes' walk to everything and far enough to get some peace and quiet. We will definitely be staying again and have already recommended it.
Only one thing was that the beds were squeaky every time you moved; they just needed tightening up.
Wonderful location
Lovely room, very funky decor but also practical and clean. Great little bathroom, and excellent breakfast menu. Comfy bed, and felt quite luxurious.
None of the windows opened, so it was quite warm and stuffy, especially in the bathroom. Floorboards were very squeaky, and I was worried about making noise for other guests.
Tv channels were basic and the food wasn’t great
Staff Friendly , very polite, , nothing to much trouble Food very good , except their pies ,they microwave them It makes them soggy
Rooms dirty, bathrooms ,mouldy in the showers My room the drawing room, cleaned down with wipes The back room much worse Cleaned room with wipes Shower that bad with mould Did.not take a shower . Noise from band until 1,00 am We had the worst rooms in hotel Drawing room , right above where the band was playing Vibration that loud we had to Take mirror off wall , move dressing table , it was moving with the noise My wheeled walker, wheeled across the room. .by it’s self Back room just as bad With the added noise of people Going to the toilet downstairs from the bar Also there were two chairs on the landing opposite the ,Back room ,people sitting there till well after 2.00 in the morning, talking very loud In both rooms could not open window, because of noise Plus the drawing room opened on to the fire escape That any one could of climbed in to the Drawing room I did email hotel asking two rooms farthest away from the music Only to be told that all Booking.Com rooms , are pre allocated Does this mean Booking. Com are allocated the worst rooms in the hotel Certainly looks like it
A comfortable and pleasant stay. Good central location and friendly staff.
Nicely situated alongside the river. Not to far from Pay & Display if no parking available on road opposite
Breakfast ok but nothing special. Had one evening meal- considered pricy for what it was. My car SatNav didn't choose the best route to navigate to it; I should have made a better note of its map position before I set off
Breakfast was lovely! And design of the rooms were nice
When we opened the draws they were full of dirt and it was difficult to find staff members to order breakfast in the morning it was a Monday so expected it was quieter but I had to knock the kitchen door to find someone which felt awkward
Great location
Rooms not worth the price and we had a power cut that lasted most of the night
Unbeatable location on the banks of the Severn River across from the museum. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. There was a cloudburst and the rain fused the pub. No lights, no cash registers, no kitchen. But everyone carried on smiling and making the best of it. We went to the pub next door and continued to eat and drink.
Parking was a slight problem especially as my wife cannot walk any distance.
The location was good
We were greeted with brusque "Yes, can I help you!" after standing waiting for a few minutes at the reception desk even though we had been seen stood there, the attitude improved a little then when we said we had a room booked. We were in the boathouse building alongside the pub, room was a good size and called Chocolate (not sure why, maybe because the grout in the shower is brown). The mattress was quite worn, the edge was so compressed it felt like you were rolling out of bed down a slope all the time and the courtyard lights being on all night shone through the glazed door with no means of blocking it out. The bar staff were so busy attending to the outside bar orders that the people stood actually at the bar inside were often ignored. We had booked a table to eat but decided to go elsewhere as we felt we were being treated as a number and there will be other customers along in a minute. We had a decent breakfast but on handing back our key no one asked how it was, did we enjoy our stay etc, just a quick thank you and gone. Ironbridge was nice but it's very unlikely we're going to stay or call in the Malthouse again
Lovely pub right across from the iron bridge lovely view very comfy bed and a good breakfast
We stayed in the front room my only dislike was the bathroom sink to high on wall to wash your face without getting water everywhere
Closeness to the Ironbridge.
Room small considering it was superior room. Ensuite across the corridor. No fans in rooms. The carpet on the stairway and corridor was filthy, threadbare in places.
Room was nice and clean, area lovely
I had a room over the live music which was really loud, wouldn’t have minded if it was just me but I had a child with me who struggled to sleep until it went off. Could have don’t with some hooks for hanging jackets and towels
Pleasant accommodation. The large wooden workbench and shelves in the bedroom were very useful. Everywhere was nice and clean.
The light over the stairs by the exit door did not work, making the lower stairwell very dark. There was a damaged plug socket fascia in the bedroom. No lightbulb in the fitting over the bed. The bedroom door didn't close properly unless it was lifted, due to a loose hinge. The bathroom lacked anywhere to place toiletries, towels or clothes. The toilet seat was not secured properly. The shower was far too high, I couldn't reach it. The shower cabinet leaked alongside the toilet. No toilet roll holder. No toilet brush. No lid on the bin.
Another great stay at the Bakehouse.
A bit noisy on the sunday night
Nothing
No parking every carpark full manager said not his problem busy day serving food . We went home as he said parkibg should be ok at 6pm Where were we supposed to park from 2 till 6
The room was nice and a good size
My room was directly above the live music venue that went in until gone midnight both nights. The floor was literally shaking with the volume of the music. I was not made aware of this at any point.
Convenient place for all locations that we wanted to visit.
Loud music Friday and Saturday night.but we where warned on arriving.
Everything
The area was nice and breakfast and staff in morning where great
The room was not clean was very dusty curtains has stains on them bathroom dust and cobwebs in corner of toilet then the disturbing part was there was a panel that would be easily accessible that had a fuse board and when seen inside the fuse board wasn’t even fixed on properly The bed was comfy though just for what you pay is not worth it in my opinion and same as people who also stayed at same time as we was at a wedding
Perfect Location bath was amazing.
Other guests banging door through the night
The staff are the best thing about this hotel!
The noise - VERY loud music playing - sound system the bass level was deafening in our room - just above The Drinking Den so much you could feel the reverberations in our chest!
Good location, breakfast good value
Rooms at first looked good but on closer inspection they are quite tatty. I was cold in bed as the quilt was very thin and pillows lumpy so I didn’t get much sleep..
Despite being a little tired looking the accomodation was clean, comfortable and spacious. The shower was good and hot..The cheap breakfast was above average. There was entertainment on at the pub next door in the evening but it was far away enough for the effect of noise to be minimal..Great location and fairly priced lodging in order to explore Ironbridge Valley.
Nothing much just a lack of biscuits on the drinks tray. Also be aware on Sunday many of the local eateries close early evening .S o booking ahead or travelling out to surrounding villages should be taken into consideration.
