Nice quiet place for a break. Would recommended
We loved the cube-style apartment we stayed in at the Oak Tree. It was clean and very quiet since it was self-contained. Parking was convenient in the back right in front of the cube. The young lady in reception was friendly and very helpful. The area is absolutely beautiful. Wish we had more time to explore the Loch. We had an excellent dinner though service was a bit spotty because I felt they were understaffed. Would highly recommend this Inn.
We loved our stay at the very quaint Oak Tree Inn! We also had a beautiful dinner in their restaurant. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We will go back if we are ever in the area again.
nice views outside
Very special hotel. Good breakfast.
Booked a superior room which was in a separate cottage. Parking easy, room lovely and clean and comfortable. Had a view of loch lomond too and a balcony to sit outside if we wanted to. Nice ensuite too.
It was our first night in Scotland and what a great place to start our trip. The room was nicely decorated and comfy with the restaurant right next door. Food was great and we loved being able to walk the nearby trails and view the lake.
Hotel on Loch Lomond. Nice comfortable room and a great restaurant on the property. Would stay there again
Awesome place - pod just needed a little fridge!
The people were very friendly
Shame fairy lights on all night as the blinds didn’t quite fit the window so lights shining in room. Restaurant- lovely meal, brilliant friendly service there. Well deserved tip. The hotel wasn’t ageist but it’s very much a young weekend stay for young couples/singles. I was the only oldie in Coffee shop this morning too. No complaint but might help other solo travellers.
Beautiful property, amazing scenery. Very helpful staff. Amazing delicious food. Highly recommended
The hotel is fine and has a good restaurant but the Internet in the ABER cottage area of the property has extremely poor internet services. So if you need internet and are assigned to this part of the hotel you will have a bad experience.
Nice food options
We really like this quaint little place, comfortable, charming, good views, good food.
Isolated location the hotel cabin rooms are functional although not exactly on the shores of the Loch. The restaurant menu is unusual and there are alternatives a short drive away.
Beautiful area, great scenery, and very quiet. The cottages were nice and cozy.
This place is excellent! We will be back! Great food, drink, and atmosphere.
Lovely property and location. Would highly recommend.
Good food , comfy bed , good internet and good parking
The staff genuinely cared about you, there’s great entertainment and a great atmosphere. The food was wonderful - what a treat!
Lovely area. Rooms outdated and a little stuffy/musty smelling. But room was quite large.
Loved the friendly staff, location, beautiful Loch Lommand views, proximity to hike, convenient stores. We took an outstanding roundtrip loch cruise . Dinner & breakfast was very pleasant with fast service. Staff very ac attentive & accomadated and upgrad to a luxury lakeside pod which we loved! Highly recommend this gem!
The staff made us feel right at home! We loved how we could shop, dine and hike without ever getting in our car. We felt like we had found our own undiscovered tiny slice of heaven!
Lovely hotel, beautiful area and the food in the restaurant was amazing. There was a live singer one night of our stay and she was absent fantastic
Very impressed with the friendliness of the staff, cleanliness and quality of the room. Also, a most beautiful setting
Our stay here was short but sweet. We had dinner at the hotel in their quirky restaurant. The fish and chips hit the spot. The room was well equipped with some nice extras including wireless charging stations and French press coffee. Would highly recommend. It was conveniently located as a kick off to our hike up Ben Lomond the next morning.
We enjoyed a great stay at this hotel both the accommodation, food and staff exceeded our expectations. We would highly recommend this hotel .
The staff were super friendly and helpful. Our room was clean, comfortable and the location was perfect. Our dinner in the restaurant was top-notch!
Exceptional
The unique ancient feel to the restaurant was very special. Our cottage was looking onto a large green area just before a lovely view of Loch Lomond . A few novel luxuries in our apparent 😊
Had a two night stay in a Superior Pod that was larger and more comfortable than many UK hotel rooms. Brand new, very clean. If you're looking for a quiet escape, you can’t do better. Loch views just a short walk, and right by the national park entrance. Lovely pub, restaurant, and coffee shop on the grounds, meals and baking are fantastic. Be forewarned there is very little public transport in the area, plan ahead or you'll have to hitch a ride.
Very basic room with basic amenities for the price! Bed was not comfortable and the pillows were old and thin. One step above camping for the standard room. Surprisingly the staff was not very friendly or hospitable, which was not the case in the other hotels we stayed at. The food and beverages in the restaurant were excellent and the wait staff was nice. The staff in the store next door was super friendly however. Great store! Highly recommend the store and restaurant.
Nice place
Small hotel with good food and cute rooms. Not a lot of extra stuff like shampoo but the staff were very nice and super helpful. Good for hikers. Pretty spot! We slept well there.
This hotel was a favorite on our recent travels throughout the UK. The view of the Loch is amazing. Our room was perfect The restaurant had delicious food and wonderful atmosphere and all of the staff made our stay one of the best. I highly recommend the Oak Tree Inn
The view around the property was beautiful, very nice trails and the food was excellent
The property is very pretty and the room was beautiful. It would have been nice to have a mini fridge. The shower although is dangerous. The water would alternate between very cold water and scalding hot water within a few seconds of eachother. The water pressure is very weak but that seems to be the norm in Scotland. I had dinner (fish and chips)at the adoining restaurant and enjoyed the service and the food despite having read some negative comments.
We loved this place! Perfect location with a killer restaurant downstairs. Room 81 is basically an entire apartment with views of Loch Lomond. Don’t miss this awesome place if you come to hike the Ben Lomond
Clean, comfortable, great food. Favorite place while hiking the WHW.
Nice property on Loch Lomond. Lakeside trial that’s part of the West Highland Way is right outside the door.
The room was very nice. Very comfortable bed, a good sized bathroom with walk in shower and a nice deck to sit out on and enjoy the late afternoon sun. The evening meal was good but the breakfast was average.
Staff friendly and extremely helpful, especially kirsty on reception, checked us in early and upgraded us to a lake view apartment. Only downside was all orders from the bar are made from downloading QR code off table, took too long for us to figure out and actually make an order, then waited ages for drinks.
Only problem was the humming noise all night which ruined our sleep. We were in room 1 which should be avoided! Shame because hotel is in a lovely setting and we had a great meal
We had a lovely stay at the oak tree inn , the cottage’s were worth the extra , beautiful views and lovely inside. Staff were great , food was nice , would definitely be back , we had a fab time .
Great place when you are traveling in the highlands. We had a small pod room that had everything we needed. It was a quick trip but we would have loved to stay longer. The restaurant was very good even for us vegetarians. Cool hiking vibe
Booked a short notice overnight stay in one of the upgraded pods. It was very nice with a very nice location. It was really quiet and peaceful. We booked dinner in the restaurant and the staff wee attentive, accomodating and very polite. The food choice wasnt huge but the quality of the food was good. It was a little pricey for what it was but you are paying tourist hotel prices. Overall we had a lovely time and would consider booking one of the larger cottages for a family event in the future.
This was a beautiful place to spend the night! The room was large (with a surprisingly large bathroom), the dining was delicious, the service was impeccable and best of all, the employees were the nicest we’ve met on this trip to Scotland. We highly recommend the Oak Tree Inn!!
The photos of the rooms were misleading. Paper thin walls. We booked the deluxe double room, which according to photos, had a fireplace and balcony. We did not have either of those although we did have a window looking into the lake and a storage yard of some sort on the next property. We had made a booking for dinner weeks before and they had tried to seat us in a table crammed in front of the main door of a family room, fortunately we asked for a better table and they found us a much nicer area to sit in the pub which was part of the appeal of this hotel in the first place. Not a great experience when hospitality isn't a given. I would choose to stay elsewhere if I were visiting again.
Fantastic place! Loved everything!
Fabulous 2 night stay , friendly helpful staff, room comfortable .. bar/restaurant inviting, Wonderful area to explore.
We loved our stay at the Oak Tree Inn! We stayed in a deluxe double, which felt like we were staying in a castle. The staff were kind and super helpful, and the location is fantastic for hiking Conic Hill! The food was also scrumptious. All in all a great retreat in Loch Lomond. We would book again.
Check in was nice and easy with clear directions to the room in another building. I think the building was called Loch Say. The room was one floor up and likely a converted attic. Bed was comfortable and, shower nice and clean with all amenities expected. The steep sided roof was annoying and other than the bed, there was no furnishing. We literally sat on the floor to watch TV and make tea/coffee. Location wise, the hotel is centrally located, directly opposite Conic Hill Car Park and where a shop and cafe are located.
Fantastic property with great restaurant and bar. Room fit out was very nice and fresh. Perfect location for Loch Lomond
I was charged on my credit card 1 day before when I should have paid on arrival
The staff were very plesent and welcoming the accommodation was lovley clean comfortable. The second night of our stay we were celebrating my patners 70th birthday with 8 other friends, we were refused any more drink served to us as we were too loud! If we had been asked to tone it down then we would have, it was a birthday! The way the staff went about it was upsetting and embarrassing that took the shine off our weekend. Apart from that we did enjoy our stay.
Great accommodation. Friendly staff
Absolutely stunning views. So quiet and peaceful and the food was delicious. Lovely place for a nice chilled weekend. Will definitely be back.
Friendly staff & good breakfast. Great location for touring the area
Beautifully set out lodges and cottages, picturesque setting, loch and jetties nearby.
We ended up staying an extra night due to a storm and the staff were very accommodating. Food was amazing and so too was the atmosphere in the bar. Very friendly and welcoming staff and the family room we had was lovely. Would definitely recommend.
Beautiful cottage room fantastic restaurant food and staff great place to stay.
Excellent property. Super clean and it has a great restaurant and bar. Staff was very accommodating. Across the street is hiking and lots of outdoor activities.
I asked for a room with a bath and received a free upgrade to stay in one of the cottages and it was beautiful. What a great space and view of the Loch. Staff were very friendly and the food was delicious as always.
Amazing.
Really enjoyed our stay, beautiful place and surroundings. Slight negatives were noise from adjacent rooms and 10am Sunday checkout. Otherwise, food, service and atmosphere all great and plenty of lovely walks.
Good parking, clean refurbished room, nice restaurant on site, helpful staff. Great view of the lake. Would highly recommend.
Stay was good hotel done up lovely for xmas staff friendly . Food was good . And it was clean .
The Oak Tree Inn was easily signposted and welcoming upon arrival. We were a little early for check-in but were shown where to park the car and get food. We stayed in a twin room in one of the cottages just down the road from the main reception site and restaurant. The room was clean and warm! Ate in the onsite restaurant both nights good was great and reasonably priced. The staff was very friendly and helped with directions to places to explore. I would recommend the 'Devil's Pulpit' if you're up for a climb down into the gorge. Also, the Loch ferry across to the village of Luss is great for seeing more of the Loch. Balmaha is a beautiful village and we will definitely be returning on our next Scotland trip.
The staff and location were great
The blind did not cover the bathroom window so we couldn't use the shower. Room could do with a makeover as looking pretty dated and damaged.
The hotel was warm and welcoming staff friendly Room clean amd comfortable Lovely food and bar Right on the east side Loch Lomond Lovely shore and hill walks close by Dont forget to visit Tom weir's statue and gardens next door to the inn
I could rave about how friendly and accomodating the team who runs this B&B is (it's a family business), and how amazing the restaurant was in terms of delicious food options. I thought my cabin was just nice for me, and totally warm and comfortable. My favourite feature: Beautiful Location for views, hiking, attractions, everything! I walked across the street to hike Conic Hill (visitor center right there too), and also walked along the West Highland way from Tom Weir statue loch-side towards the next town, it was lovely. I especially loved the Mocha Cafe and grocery store next door for treats and supplies, everything was within walking distance and super convenient!
Spent 2 nights in a superior cabin, absolutely loved our stay. Staff are lovely, food in the restaurant is absolutely amazing, nothing is over priced, we will definitely be going back and would recommend to friends and family
Disgraceful and appalling, an absolute blight on Scottish tourism. Booked and paid for a deluxe room which all website photos show as large spacious rooms with separate lounge sitting areas fireplace and balcony with seating. Ended up in a small room 1/3 the size and a smaller uncomfortable bed, no room for our suitcases which we left in the car. Staff assured us restaurant was safe for coeliacs which it is definitely not as it's own menu and other reviews attest to. AVOID!
The room wasn’t presented as shown in the photos, it has at sometime leaked with paint peeling off the wall and had a damp smell. The bedding was clean however the pillow cases were well worn with holes. Bathroom was not particularly clean and there was no storage or any place to put bags. Definitely not worth the price we paid. The area was a great place to visit though.
Brilliant
Breakfast was excellent...... Everything spot on. Evening meal was also excellent, although a little expensive..... But you do get what you pay for.. Umbrellas were a nice touch as required, for walking too and from reception or restaurant.. Would definitely recommend.👍👍
Great stop at the end of Day 1 walking the west Highland Way . The room was a little on the small side with virtually no storage places and only a shower not a bath (that would have been perfect). Very clean with tea and coffee facilities. The restaurant was part of the pub which was very busy and was mostly pub food. Staff were very friendly. Only wish there was somewhere for residents to go and relax - ie a few sofas - as we had to sit in the noisy restaurant all evening with all the other pub goers. Great cafe and shop on site to get bits for the next day too. Would book again .
A lovely atmosphere at the Oak Tree Inn. We had two delicious, hearty evening meals. Unable to review the hotel room, however, as we couldn't find our Expedia booking in the preceding days before our arrival. As the payment was not made in advance, we thought we'd failed to complete our booking.
The pod looks fairly new. You can park right outside. Shower was strong and hot apart from the shower cubicle is on the small side. Double bed is comfortable with clean bedding. Once you put the heating on the pod becomes warm. Two down sides, there was no remote for the TV and I couldn't get the WiFi to connect. But once I went to reception and connected it worked fine. The hotel it self is great, good food, nice bar. Also very busy clearly a popular hotel. Really good coffee in the coffee shop.
The property is across the street from a hiking park and that made the 2 place's to eat hard to get into. The price for breakfast in the main dinning is not worth it. The coffee shop is a better value. In the main dinning it says they have a bar but they don't. You can order drinks that are on the menu but the staff will not make anything that is not on the menu for drinks even when you explain how to make it with the ingredients they have. The housekeeper was very nice and helpful. The place could do with some maintenance but was clean.
Accommodation is in rooms in various buildings around the village. Everything was comfortable but very expensive.
After a long day of hiking the West Highland Way, the Oaktree Inn was absolutely awesome
This place is a hidden gem. The dining area and pub decor is great. The hotel room, which was a cottage was very clean, the bed was comfortable. I would definitely go back!
Very loud. Next door group kept us up almost the entire night. No one at front desk to assist
Wonderful location with friendly and helpful staff. I would absolutely stay here again.
The room we booked was not available. But for the inconvenience, they offered us complimentary wine with dinner and a free breakfast or lunch. That was nice.
One of our favorite places we stayed during our 18 days in Scotland. Nothing not to like!!
Pod room was great, food okay
Great place to stay at Loch Lomond. We had room 41, with its own lounge and amazing view to the lake. Staff are all lovely. Food is really good. Buffet breakfast was great. Cannot fault it.
We enjoyed the size of the room, location and convenience
We were not ready for the cuteness overload! This hotel is so special, my husband I didn’t want to leave! Lake Lomond has truly imprinted on our hearts! Clean, quiet, friendly staff, a wonderful restaurant on site, a delicious coffee shop next door as well as a gift shop, and it’s pet friendly! What more can you ask for? Don’t think twice about booking this location! Oh, and the views from room 81 are spectacular!
Fantastic, very happy with all aspects of The Oak Inn. Will definitely be returning!
Dining room on premise was convenient and staff was helpful and pleasant. Building and furnishings a little old and hot water difficulty to get.
The Oak Tree Inn in Balmaha, Scotland, offers a charming and welcoming retreat for travellers seeking a cozy and authentic Scottish experience. Nestled in the picturesque village of Balmaha, The Oak Tree exudes a warm and inviting atmosphere, with comfortable accommodations and friendly hospitality. The traditional Scottish cuisine served at the inn's restaurant is a true delight, showcasing the best of local flavors and ingredients. The stunning natural surroundings of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park provide a breathtaking backdrop for guests to explore and enjoy outdoor activities. Overall, The Oak Tree Inn in Balmaha is a perfect choice for those looking to immerse themselves in the beauty of Scotland while enjoying a comfortable and memorable stay."
The Oak Tree was a disappointment. Not as presented in their photographs. Rooms are tired and in need of updating. Food in the restaurant was good but surroundings very rustic. In my view expensive for what was on offer.
Exceeded our expectations. Every detail clean and well done. Food options really nice. We missed evening and live music time I imagine it’s memorable too
It's a difficult review. The staff are great, the food is great and the rooms are very nice and clean.however,we were in Dan's cottage room on the lower level. The soundproofing is unfortunately non existent. We could hear and feel every footstep above, every toilet flush, every hairdryer and every muffled conversation. It's a shame as the room, hotel and balmaha are lovely.
We loved our stay here. Our superior pod had everything we needed and the little patio with the view of the Loch was just perfect. Good mattress and plenty of hot water - the most important things for me. The hotel and cottages were beautiful. Might try out the cottages next time! Reception staff were delightful. Friendly and welcoming. We had dinner our first night and it was terrific. This was our first time having haggis and I think it spoiled us! The Cullen Skink and Sticky Toffee Pudding were also great. Lovely whisky flight also
