Balmaha Lodges and Apartments

The apartment was super clean and cozy, making it easy to relax after a long hiking day. To top it off, the staff kindly gave us a complimentary room upgrade due to a last-minute cancellation. A big thank you to the staff for being so kind and attentive—highly recommended!

Our lodge was a great size, very clean! The heated floors were brilliant! Staff were very welcoming. Would definitely stay again.

Too much furniture in the main room - 2 large settees when the accomodation is only for 2 people. Because of this you had to sit on bar stools on a small table to eat whereas if they changed one of the settees for a chair then they could fit in a small proper table. Also nowhere to dry swimming costumes or towels, need to provide a drying rack.

I was really pleased with our lodge, even more so because we got offered an upgrade which gave us a bigger lodge! Staff were really accommodating and friendly when we arrived.

The location, spacious, hot tub were all good. Lots of coffee pods available 😁big sofa.

The curtains not dark enough to keep the light out in the bedrooms. Kitchen very small, not enough room to do dishes. Conductor hob, nightmare for keeping temp (was cooking pasta, took forever) beds not too comfortable especially the singles (perhaps better mattresses) no cloth or sponge for washing dishes provided. No salt pepper or sugar (this would be handy) didn’t want to buy it all for a 2 night stay?! Tv was quite small for the size of the wall/ space

I did not like the privacy about the lodges as not all windows have curtains Also that I have to dumb the trash when I leave and they have not cleaned or changed any of the towels.

A little rundown, but they are doing them up. Could have been a bit cleaner. Hot tub was nice but not very private. Parking wasn’t allocated and can’t park outside the lodge and we almost didn’t get a space after going out one day

Location and hot tub

Hot tub wasn't properly clean, a brown ring around the water line, the property was uncomfortably hot when we arrived and also a stained sofa, in need of some tlc. But overall a beautiful place, it has alot of potential!

Friendly staff and great facilities despite ongoing renovations.

Access to the site from public carpark as people would casually enter the site.

Lodge was fantastic, layout and facilities were great and we loved the hot tub. Value for money was outstanding.

Would be good if little bit of initial amenities provided - tea, coffee, sugar, milk but this would be a even better and would definitely not put me off booking again

Grouse Lodge was excellent, with everything you need for a few days stay, spotlessly clean with a good bed and good shower and it's own private hottub. Enough facilities to cook a meal or breakfast or you could go to the Oak Tree Inn which us just across just across the road. Plenty of good walks nearby and a five minute boat ride over to Inchcailloch Island is worthwhile or a trek up Conic Hill which is a bit more strenuous, but great views when you get to the top.

Hottub wasn't very powerful, and far too hot at first, but managed reduce the temperature and when I returned in the evening it was good to go.

One of the best location on thr walking distance from Loch Lomond. Peacful and well maintained lodges under the hill. Cleanliness was perfect and property was well maintained and well decorated. Colin, the Manager was very friendly and professional guy.

It was secluded and fab hot tub

It wasn’t very clean at all, no change of towels given. Kitchen had just bare essentials and worst of all no hot water from taps.

So peace. Owners are in the process of upgrading the lodges, but they are still very clean and comfortable. I arrived on my birthday to find banners, balloons, a card and 2 miniatures of malt. A lovely touch. Will definitely be back.

Location seas nice.

We had neighbours playing music from a speaker at 9:30pm when we were trying to rest. Interior of the apartment was very tatty, old, cheap (in terms of wallpaper (it looked like a diy) mould on ceiling. The hot tub was nice, however it was falling apart. The back garden where the hot tub was located wasn’t very visually appealing.

Excellent location. Very central. Spacious 1 bedroom chalets. Plenty of room.

Colin is currently updating the accommodation and when this is complete it will be spectacular. Our bed was very low to the ground and too soft for my liking.

Colin and Josephine greeted us and made us feel at home. They are friendly and efficient and deal with things onsite immediately. The lodges are very clean and comfortable. With amenities in walking distance. Great for families and dog friendly. Highly recommend a stay here

The location of the property is the best feature as you can easily visit places around Loch Lomond from Balmaha, do some hiking and there is a lovely pub, shop and coffee shop across the road.

The owners send a list of many, many rules about what you cannot do before your stay making for quite an unfriendly welcome. We were not at all opposed to the rules but would have preferred a friendlier welcome and for the properties to be much cleaner, brighter and set up properly for people to enjoy their break. We used the property as a base only.

I knew the property was dated and needed a refreshed. That was fine. I didn’t expect the property to be unclean. Cobwebs everywhere and lots of dust and stains.

We were a little worried about what to expect when we received the emailed list of rules, but all was well. Josephine was lovely and the apartment was spotless and well laid out. We had the ground floor of a two story cottage, so no view but only a minute’s walk down to the edge of the beautiful loch. The visitor’s centre is just a walk through the hedge next door for the start of the Conic hill walk and for information about the little ferry across to the island. It was nice hearing the happy chatter coming from the direction of the hot tubs too.

Location is ideal! With cracking scenery and hikes available! Also ideally situated for getting. To other land marks! The Lodge is practical. With a placid atmosphere!

Only downside is the trees to the back of the lodge block out natural light and the path to the hot tub is a little muddy!

The golden eagle. It was very enjoyable and very inviting. The staff were amazing and couldn't ask for more. Its new owners who are on a mission. I thank you all for the great time. My Wee dog shadow loved it. Will will be back. Hats of to you all. 👏👏

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Brilliant location, spot on stay – would 100% return! Location Couldn’t be better – surrounded by stunning hills, directly opposite the loch. Pub and local shop literally 1 minute from the gate, ferry to the islands only 2 minutes walk away. Views are lovely, and it’s nice and quiet – perfect for relaxing. Facilities & Cleanliness Everything was absolutely spotless throughout. Hot tub was brilliant and kept perfectly clean, bed really comfortable. Kitchen had everything you need – only tiny thing, would have been handy for some multi-surface spray to wipe down after cooking, if you're lazy like me it's be worth packing your air fryer 😂. Water pressure is a bit low but that's beyond their control so can't mark them down for that. Service & Arrival Staff were so friendly when we got there, took the time to show us how everything works and made sure we were all settled. No hassle at all. Overall Great value, great spot, great stay all round. If you’re looking to get away by Balmaha/Loch Lomond this is ideal – we’ll definitely be back!

It had everything we needed . The hot tub was superb and the decking was perfectly placed for sunbathing.Balmaha is beautiful and has some great walking trails. Oak tree inn is across the road and food there was excellent. Would definitely book again.

No plug socket near and mirrors so was a struggle fixing my hair.

It was in a great place and we felt it was pretty private.

Nothing. For what we paid it was great. If I was to be picky there were a few things that were a little tired but we overall loved it.

It would have been nice for somewhere to sit outside as we were at the back there was nothing to sit on especially when it was nice . On two occasions something tripped the electricity the first time got sorted .But second time was the day we weee leaving and had no hot water for shower and no lights in bathroom .Tried to get a hold of reception but didn’t get hold of them until we were home .

Lodges were spotlessly clean,hot tub was great,great shower,kitchen and very spacious. Great 3 nights sleep,as its very very quiet at night. The owners were excellent,as they explained everything about the lodge facilities. Will definitely be back with our children and granddaughter next time

That's it's near conic hill

If you're ok the west highland way the reception doesn't open before the pickup for baggage transfer so you just have to leave your bags out in the open and the rain and pray. Also just generally they are very cheap, no tea bags even.

We were in number 17 Rosefinch Lodge it was excellent and had everything we needed in it ,the Hot Tub was excellent ,all Staff were polite ,friendly and helpful , location stunning , Millarochy Bay is five minutes away from the Lodges this is our fifth time at the Lodges .

We stayed in an apartment. Very spacious and clean with free WiFi and Freeview satellite channela on both TVs. Obviously, the hot tub was the main selling point and it didn't dissapoint.

Access to the hot tub was gained via a muddy path. Would benefit from a path of some kind being installed. There was no vacuum or brush and pan to clean up the mud and debris that you bring back in to the apartment after being in the hot tub. Also no hooks on the back of the bathroom door. Small things but would make a difference

The lodge was great, lovely comfortable stay. Hottub ideal especially after walk up conic hill which is right on your doorstep. Hopefully return.

Needs a bit of an update.

The lodge was quiet and private. The bathroom was away from the bedroom which was a better layout. The bed was comfortable after a 20 mile walk. The location was great for the West Highland Way. The shower was very powerful.

The lodge had its heating on in the middle of May! It took some time to figure out how to turn it off. The window blinds and a curtain rail came loose when using it. The furniture was very dated. The light switch in the bedroom was hidden behind the bed. The host did not need to tell someone born in the 90s how to use a television.

À notre arrivée, il n’y avait malheureusement personne à l’accueil et nous avons dû attendre une petite demi-heure avant qu’un responsable soit prévenu. Par ailleurs, la literie semble avoir bien servi et mériterait sans doute d’être renouvelée afin d’améliorer encore le confort du séjour.

Heating not working so was left with 2 small mobile heaters , no hot water, bed extremely hard, fridge door shelf missing and decking not cleaned. Hot tub plastic unit floating in tub and no privacy in tub. Surrounding grass not cut and slabs that were laid just before we arrived…of which the cut grass was left in a pile at the entrance. A disassembled shed in full view outside bedroom window. The water from the shower running straight outside as connection hose not in place correctly. We complained and received a full refund.

Great appartment, really comfy and loads of room.

The only suggestion would be to provide some basic tea and coffee. As we were running the WHW, we hadn't brought our own as we thought it would be provided.

Staff were very helpful and delivered my luggage straight to my room.

We love the location of the property and the lodge had lots of space, also really clean . Loved the hot tub.

The oven didn’t work, also creepy kitchen floor. There was a lot of building work being done which we weren’t told about.

It was not very big but comfortable and had everything you need. All the furniture is good quality and the decor is modern and stylish.

It was a really nice cosy wee lodge. The place was quiet and ideal for a good night sleep.

Great location and a modern, newly built facility. Everything was clean and well-maintained, and the balcony was great.

The mattress was overly soft and didn’t provide enough support - it really needs replacing, as you tend to sink right into it. There is also some ongoing construction around the property, which slightly affects the overall value for money.

Location was perfect

Great lodges, great location with parking. Very clean and bed was comfortable. Spacious and had everything we needed.

The heating was turned on high when we arrived so every room was roasting. Was difficult to sleep the first night as it was so warm. There is also no view of the lake from most lodges due to a new house being built right in the way which is a shame.

Fantastic location for exploring the area. After a few hikes it was great to come back and jump into the hot tub and sleep in a lovely comfy bed. Was also great to have a kitchen area. Our original pod had electricity issues so we were upgraded which was a lovely surprise.

Only small issue was the noise from the boiler. When the heating clicked off or on, the temp was changed or if a tap or shower was ran it was very noisy. I understand this would be an expensive issue to fix and would not put us off returning.

The location was amazing. The staff was so very helpful. It was in a beautiful place and it was a modern, clean and well appointed cottage. Loved it.

The only drawback was there was no laundry available, however, a wonderful member of staff helped us out.

We were upgraded to anotjer lodge which was itself beautiful, clean and homely to stay in. The private hot tub was an absolute bonus and brilliant to use. The view of the Loch was stunning too.

When we got there, there were renovations going on and we weren't informed our lodge was not available due to flooding after trying to get a hold on the owner. This did take a bit of time to get an answer as we they weren't available on the property and I had to await a phone call after leaving a voicemail. We didnt realise the lodge's central heating wasn't working till later on in the night so it was absolutely freezing. At the time I had a slightly runny nose, but due to how cold the property, I think this didn't help and I ended up leaving with a chest infection. Whither this was just a coincidence or not, im not sure, but its was terribly cold that i vouldnt sleep the first nigt. I had tried to make contact with the owner via phone call and email who did notify the cleaner but she stated she would have been unable to fix this. It was only luck that someone who lives in an adjacent lodge was able to fix this, (said he helped with some maintenance around the lodges). However due to how I was feeling we were unable to stay the last night. The hot tub was stunning but there was no outdoor lights whilst using this during the night so thay was a slight inconvenience.

Very dated, never got given the apartment we booked, not worth the price.
