The property was tired and we had booked a game drive into the Kruger before we arrived which was confirmed by email. When we arrived we were told that the hotel game drive was fully booked so we could not use it. In the day we checked out the game drive vehicle was still at the hotel and when I asked the reception staff if there had been a game drive that morning they said there had not. We were all very disappointed as this is why we had booked this hotel for the game drive and it had been confirmed in writing before we arrived.

Barulho tanto da rodovia ao lado como de alguns motores ligados que não identificamos o que era. Espera-se mais silencio quando se busca um ambiente de “safari” ou savana/selva.

There was banging on the door and our courtyard gate was closed and the morning it was open.
We could hear voice at our window!

Reviewed Jun 26, 2026We enjoyed our stay thanks to the wonderful staff, who went out of their way to accommodate our group — truly the highlight. The location is convenient to Malelane Gate and the gardens and breakfast area are beautiful. The presidential suite is tastefully decorated with great mattresses and linen, and the generous supply of coffees, teas, milk, water, and amenities was appreciated. Breakfast is generous and delicious.
For a 4‑star property, some improvements are needed: the apartments and outdoor braai area require a deep clean, towels and blinds should be replaced, and certain areas of the façade could use refreshing. The highway noise is noticeable when outside. A coffee machine in the unit would be a welcome addition. One of the sliding doors to the patio area could not lock.

I have booked this hotel to make use of the spa as it was my husbands birthday. I phoned for an appointment 2 days in advance just to find out there are only 1 massage therapist available the whole weekend. What a disappointment as we wanted to do this as a couple together. The room that was given to us was clean but dark, with the lights on. This was a corner unit which clearly needs an upgrade. Outside the room cigarette buts were lying around, the braai wasn't cleaned from the previous guests and the paving not cleaned, with weeds already growing on them. I have left the next day which were supposed to be a 3 night stay, also due to a train moving around till late at night and early in the morning, very close to the rooms. I have also not stayed for breakfast due to poor food at the restaurant the previous evening. I have sent my fillet steak back as it was still raw and received yet another raw fillet. One good thing was that our waiter was very friendly, helpful and very apologetic. In future I will do a more in-depth investigation on all places to get proper accommodation that is worth our money.

The restaurant serve very good food if the right chef is on duty and if the waiters are willing to help you...
The stand around and play and talk in the morning with breakfast...not very eager to help....
It is a beautiful property and the gardens is well taken care off..but the service and attitude of the staff wow....
so disappointing...
We had to ask ...open the curio-shop...
Then they pull there faces..as if it is a huge favour...
No really...if it was my property I will be seriously worried...

I have very mixed feelings about this place. There are definitely some positives, but also quite a few negatives that could seriously impact its reputation if not addressed soon. In my opinion, an average rating of 8.8 is far too generous—I would rate it closer to a 5 at best.
On arrival, the property makes a great first impression. The gardens are well maintained, and the setting feels peaceful and beautiful. Its proximity to the Malelane Gate of Kruger National Park is also a major advantage for those wanting to stay just outside the park. While some of the buildings appear older—and a few even looked abandoned, which raised some safety concerns—our unit itself was comfortable and well-equipped. We had a ground-floor unit with lovely views of the water and fountain. The space was generous, with ample cupboard storage, a well-equipped kitchen, and braai facilities outside. All rooms were air-conditioned, and the bed, pillows, and linen were exceptional—easily the highlight of our stay. The bathroom and shower were also spacious, and we appreciated that our dishes were washed daily.
Several small issues quickly added up and detracted from the overall experience. Our interactions with staff were inconsistent—some were friendly and helpful, while others were noticeably rude and unhelpful. On one occasion, we returned from an early morning game drive at around 2pm to find our room still hadn’t been cleaned. After notifying reception, cleaners were sent, but their attitude was poor. As we were exhausted, we asked if they could clean while we rested, but they seemed irritated, handled items roughly, and ultimately didn’t change the bedding at all—even after we offered to step out.
Cleanliness was an ongoing concern. During our seven-night stay, the floors were rarely cleaned properly—we could feel sand underfoot most days, with the only properly cleaned day being when we were present and saw the floors being mopped. Our bed linen was never changed throughout the stay. The veranda area was also neglected, with dirty outdoor furniture and even a black widow spider found under one of the chairs. The bathroom ceiling had visible mould, and the in-room safe was unusable despite staff suggesting we use keys for a keypad lock. Additionally, a request made at reception about using the spa was never followed up.
The restaurant experience was particularly disappointing and ultimately prompted this review. At breakfast, I specifically requested beef sausages, but was served pork instead. After sending the meal back, I waited an additional 15 minutes—with no resolution—while my partner had already finished eating. During this time, it also felt as though the waitress treated other tables more warmly, which made the experience even more uncomfortable. We eventually left without my meal.
When we raised the issue at reception, the response was underwhelming. The staff member on duty showed little concern, offered a minimal apology, and made no effort to resolve the situation.

The Executive Suite G2 needs deep cleaning and a bit of maintenance. The main bedroom door does not close without being wedged, and toilet has a bad smell that is unpleasant. The en-suite shower has no door, no hot water from the same shower and the water flow from the shower is so low due to clogged holes. First bedroom on your right had filthy walls and curtains had black marks, while the second bedroom door gets stuck when closed, one has to leave it open for safety reasons.
The place is beautiful, the breakfast is great and the food at the restuarant is fantastic.
Reception staff, not helpful. A big reason we decided to stay here was because of the spa, which we only find out when we wanted to book that it now only operates on weekends.

The place was beautiful and accessible.
The fact that the groundsmen kept their equipment in our garage and were walking up and down from the early hours, disturbing our sleep. The backyard view was not so great; people were walking past in the field, and there was no privacy.
The environment was good and clean. Staff very assisting.
No enough facilities for children and the landscape is small.

Lovely chalets with all conveniences. Booked an apartment with river view for an overnight stay out of Kruger Park but was given a chalet with sugar cane plantation views. Near to the Kruger's Malelane gate. Place needs some TLC, deep cleaning and maintenance to keep it in good shape otherwise its going to deteriorate very quickly.
Abit noisy due to the train that passes by often.
Our rooms were flooding during a rain storm with multiples leaks in every room as said by multiple guests staying there. The bathroom facilities weren’t really clean as well with torn towels. Booked a 5am Game Drive, and the staff was over an hour late. Very disappointed!

Less than 20 km from the Malelane Kruger gate.
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
There was no braai but when asked they brought one.
The place was well equipped with everything you would need.
It is alittle noisy with the train, not being too far from the road, and a machine(probably from the plantation) but it wasn't unbearable.
Overall it was good stay.
The mosquitos, you cannot leave and window or door open, which is ok because there are air-cons.
I think they could do a deep cleaning, on the cupboard handles and the finer details.
The towels are really hard.

Our beautiful suit had a bit of a sewage smell in the second bedroom which unfortunately made it hard to breath / we can tell the staff really tried to clean but there maybe something wrong with the piping system?
