Reviewed Aug 22, 2026I just love this place! Been here fives times already and will surely return when in the area. Staff is great, rooms are great value for money, the pool and its views are awesome. Make sure you sit outside in the evening as elephants come really close to the lodge. Breakfast is basic but good, on site restaurant is also fine. The restaurant deck is overlooking the river where always is something to see from hippos to kudu and birds.

In terms of value for money, customer service and overall quality, I would score Rio Vista 10/10. Just to add, I stayed at this property for 11 nights
The only thing that lets the property down is that it doesn’t have its own restaurant. The restaurant facilities are provided by “The Deck” restaurant, which is adjacent to Rio Vista. It’s a pity the staff aren’t as friendly here, and the food is “very average”. I’m guessing it trades on its location rather than customer service. Just needed to make this point, but please do not overlook Rio Vista, this is a great lodge and there are other places to eat in town, which is only 2km away.

Reviewed Aug 3, 2026Toller Blick auf den River mit Tieren direkt am Hotel oder gegenüber. Fernglas mitnehmen. Restaurant am Abend einfach aber gut. Frühstück kann man ausfallen lassen und woanders essen.
Teilweise komischer Geruch im Zimmer. Frühstück für den Preis zu wenig Auswahl.

Reviewed May 18, 2026A localização é muito boa, bem próximo ao portão 9 do Kruger Park, cerca de uns 10 minutos de carro. O quarto é bem amplo e possui geladeira, microondas e varanda. Os funcionários são muito atenciosos e prestativos. E a dona do hotel é uma simpatia. O café da manhã é bom. Os preços do restaurante são justos. Recomendo, excelente custo/benefício.

Abendessen, leckeres Frühstück und große Auswahl beim Abendessen im Restaurant direkt daneben, gute Ausgangslage für Safaries im Kruger Nationalpark - nur ca. 15 Minuten bis zum Eingang Malelane, Schwimmbad mit Blick auf den Fluss, schöne Zimmer, gute Betten. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Fliegengitter fehlen, daher konnte das Zimmer schlecht belüftet werden. Teppichboden könnte erneuert werden.

Reviewed Apr 24, 2026Wir waren schon vor 6 Jahren dort und fühlten uns sorfort wieder zuhause. Insgesamt waren wir diesmal in unserem 6-wöchigen Urlaub insgesamt13 Tage in der Rio Vista Lodge. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich, das Essen ist gut, die Zimmer sind sauber und man hat einen erstklassigen Überblich über den Kruger-Grenzfluss mit all seinen Tieren, die zum Trinken aus dem Park kommen. Absolute Empfehlung!

Reviewed Apr 21, 2026Room is not special. But the pool and restaurant on the rivers edge are making up for it. Very nice! Dinner and breakfast are good quality. Staff is attentive and friendly. There is wildlife to spot. Opposite Kruger.
I don't like the sign at the reception at the watercontainer: this water is only for hotelguests. Any staffmember using this water will be.... I was in shock. If you treat you're staff this way, how you think your staff will treat the quests.

Sehr strenger Geruch im Zimmer und Bad. Das Zimmer braucht dringend eine Renovierung, alles war sehr alt. Leider waren auch die Bettwäsche und die Handtücher nicht sauber

Reviewed Mar 30, 2026I have stayed some other hotels in Malelane, and have stayed Rio vista for several times. My conclusion is that Rio vista is the best place to stay in Malelane. Their receptionists and restaurant staff are very friendly, professional, and always helpuful. I always appreciate their hospitality. Reponse from the receptionists on whatsapp is very quick. The view from the deck is beautiful, facing Crocodile river and Kruger park. I'm happy to give them 10 score.

Cupboard door hinge broken and wobbly. had to handle with care. Doors leading out from patios can't be locked or unlocked with keys, so one has to go around every time you want to go somewhere, River facing rooms can be locked, so i think this must be done the same, it's just more convenient. STORM CAME UP AND CARPORT WAS RIPPED, STEEL CABLE THAT WAS HOLDING UP THE SUNSHADE BROKE AND WAS BEING BLOWN AGAINST THE FRONT OF THE CAR AND SCRATCHED IT. I SAW THIS AND MOVED THE CAR, NEXT MORNING, THE SHADE NET HAD BEEN LIFTED FROM ITS DOWN PIPES IN 2 CORNERS AND WAS HANGING DANGERIOUSLY CLOSE TO HITTING ANOTHER CAR. I moved my car again as we were now looking at potentially denting the car.

Kitchen staff very loud and disturbing during meals. They were busy with renovations during the day and very disturbing when seated at dining area.(understandable but still disturbing) Room clean, but strong chemical smell in room. No window (able to open) during evening , only sliding door on river side as to allow for fresh air, the only window (opening) located in passage/bathroom.

Reviewed Feb 27, 2026Struttura molto bella immersa nel verde. A soli 15 minuti dal Parco Kruger. Vista sul fiume meravigliosa, con la possibilità di vedere animali e numerosi uccellini. Camere molto belle ed accoglienti. Pulito e ordinato. Il personale molto gentile e disponibile. Anche la titolare molto attenta e cordiale, si è soffermata con molto piacere a chiacchierare con noi. Ci ritorneremo! Consiglio!!

Reviewed Feb 11, 2026Отличный лодж в 10 мин езды от ворот парка Крюгер ( Malalane Gate). В отеле есть прекрасный бассейн с видом на Crokodile river, в которой можно увидеть лежащих бегемотов. Территория лоджа очень красивая, есть лежаки, лавочки для отдыха, зеленая лужайка. В номере было достаточно чисто, но ремонт уже староват. Имеются все необходимые принадлежности для душа, а также чай, кофе, чайник. Включен сытный завтрак (яйца, сендвичи, йогурт; кекс, мюсли, фрукты). Если вы уезжаете рано на сафари, то завтрак вам упакуют с собой. Также на территории есть ресторан, но мы там ничего не заказывали. Если собираетесь заезжать в парк Крюгера через Malalane Gate, рекомендую остановиться в данном лодже.

Reviewed Jan 21, 2026Wir haben die RioVista Loge für eine Nacht gebucht um am nächsten Tag früh in den Krügerpark zu fahren. Die Unterkunft liegt traumhaft direkt am Fluß. Wir konnten die Hippos und Krokodile im Wasser beobachten und auch ein Gnu lief direkt vor der Anlage vorbei. Auch das Abendessen im zugehörigen Lokal war sehr gut.
