Stayed here for the Canton Fair and I must say it's a great way to enjoy the fair. Relatively close in distance with great service -- we came back from the fair via shuttle and was greeted with a performance and snacks at the lobby! The receptionists are also very helpful in receiving deliveries from Taobao. Would come back to stay!

It's been some time now that I used to go to this hotel during the Canton Fair time to support our business properly, with good quality accommodations, nice meals and close to the fairgrounds. This time, I experienced a problem with my personal safebox that opened due to low battery of the safe, which is very risky as we store passports, money, and other valuable items. Also would like to leave a note related to the food, which was much more restricted during breakfast time, as well as orders at the room service were of a so small quantity that it was scary. When we pay over the average places, we expect consistency. Hope you get my comments in a good way and use them to improve your services.

When my colleague and I arrived at the reception after our flight from Hangzhou and an hour-long taxi ride from the airport, the front desk staff were disorganized to say the least. There was no welcome, no greeting, no attempt to check us in. And, it is not as it was very busy. There was hardly anyone else there besides us. After we got their attention and informed them that we had reservations, they started the process of checking us in. This should not be the case in an IHG hotel, especially not in an Intercontinental! Our experience in the Char restaurant was very mediocre. Service was slow or absent and again, it was not very busy. We left after we finished dinner and having waited for several minutes for someone to come and present the bill. After we left, I got a call and paid the bill. The prices were outrageous for the quality and quantity of food and drinks we consumed! However, the Cafe Aqua was nice. We had buffet dinner twice and breakfast also twice. Nina was very helpful and friendly. Among the other staff, the concierge Bale and Sing were both helpful.

Very good experience, walk into the lobby, the environment is very good, everyone is very warm, the service is very good, everyone's attention is very high, my family and I are very happy to eat here, I think they work very hard, but everyone is very good passion.

Cannot fault this hotel. I do not speak chinese at all and was"out of my depth" in China in many ways when I came to visit my son. This hotel made it so easy for me to manage and was a great safe haven for me. The service was very personal and staff anticipated my needs before I even asked remembering my coffee preferences and so forth. Facilities are beautiful , comfortable and very clean. The food is excellent and there is a variety of restaurants to choose from. The location is excellent. We will definitely stay here again the next time we visit Guangzhou.

This was my third time in this splendid hotel, with amazing staff and a great kitchen. It gives you all the comfort to work hard during the day and have a great rest at night. Very good gym area and pool to keep fit during the stay. Love it.

If there were a global award for “Cooperation in Avoiding Accountability,” this hotel would win gold without competition. • A service mindset that says: “There is no heart here, but with enough money, you might get something.” 💁‍♀️ And most magical of all… My honest review was quickly deleted from TripAdvisor — as if by sorcery. The management team successfully destroyed a Black Diamond guest’s trust in under 10 minutes. Applause for their excellence in avoiding responsibility 👏👏 The CEO? Disappeared. Like a politician avoiding drama — with even more elegance. This place deserves to be a case study for hotel schools around the world: “If you want to understand how it feels to be a guest whose emotions don’t matter… come stay here.” It’s the perfect meditation retreat for the ultra-wealthy — A place where ego is destroyed not through silence and breathwork, but through humiliation and rejection in a luxury lobby. Designed with business travelers in mind, especially those attending the Canton Fair, the hotel offers more than just convenience—it delivers thoughtful hospitality. My Return Visit: A Stay With Purpose Having visited before, I returned on June 23–24 to experience the hotel again amid a changing hospitality landscape. As part of my IHG Diamond Ambassador membership, I booked a one-night stay for just under ¥900 (~$125 USD) in a Classic Room, which was graciously upgraded to a 1 King Premium Tower Bath View Room. A day before my arrival, I was personally contacted by Martha Roberts, possibly the only Argentine front office manager in IHG China—a familiar face who ensured every detail of my stay was arranged. Upon arrival, I was greeted not only by Martha but also by the General Manager, Bruno Bohl, who has brought seasoned leadership and a personal touch to the property. To my surprise, he even gifted me a plate of lychees he picked with his family—a gesture that set the tone for a deeply personal and memorable stay. The Room: 1 King Premium Tower Bath View Located in a corner of the building, Room 2917 offered sweeping 270-degree views of the Pearl River and Canton Tower. The 60 sqm room featured floor-to-ceiling windows, minimalist wood and marble interiors, a walk-in closet, and a tranquil bathtub with views that capture the spirit of the riverfront. The bathroom was well-equipped, with a shift from the usual Byredo products to local Calmac amenities—a refreshing touch. Club InterContinental: Lounge Above the Clouds Thanks to my IHG Milestone Rewards, I enjoyed access to Club InterContinental on the 39th floor—a refined lounge with panoramic views, elegant furnishings, and a calm atmosphere. Led by Claire He, the lounge team delivered exceptional service across breakfast, afternoon tea, and happy hour. It’s also a great setting for private meetings or simply soaking in the city skyline. Dining: A Culinary Highlight The hotel boasts three main dining options: CHAR Restaurant – A Michelin-guide steakhouse with a dramatic minimalist design. Highlights include the USDA Prime Ribeye and open kitchen concept. CHAR also has a sister location at Hotel Indigo Shanghai, famed by “Max the Meat Guy.” Canal Luna – A celebration of Cantonese tradition, offering refined local dishes crafted by a master chef. Ideal for those seeking authentic regional cuisine. Café Aqua – The all-day buffet offers everything from fresh seafood and international fare to Cantonese specialties. A vibrant and inclusive dining space for hotel guests and locals alike. I took advantage of the 618 Sale, similar to Double 11, with excellent value F&B packages: Café Aqua Semi-Buffet Lunch (¥168/$24): Featuring main dishes like curry chicken and steak, with a side buffet of seafood, sushi, and salads—prepared by the veteran Winson Wang. Canal Luna Dim Sum Set (¥138/$20): A traditional Cantonese dim sum menu including shrimp dumplings, wonton noodles, and mango sago. A complimentary dessert voucher made it even sweeter. Breakfast at Café Aqua: A broad selection from Western classics and dim sum to Lanzhou noodles, fresh juices, and even milkshakes and ice cream. I enjoyed breakfast with Bruno and was warmly attended by Winson and F&B Director Victoria Li. For a quieter option, the Club Lounge provides à la carte selections with stunning morning views. Facilities: An Exceptional Pool Experience The swimming pool is among the best in any Guangdong hotel—spacious, clean, and well-equipped with thoughtful extras like a high-speed dryer, sauna, and top-tier locker rooms. Final Thoughts: Service Defines the Stay This was my 7th visit, and it ended on a high note—a group photo with the team I’ve come to know and appreciate: Bruno, Martha, Claire, Winson, and Victoria. One absence stood out—Catty Chen, the new Director of Rooms, who had long been a key figure during my early visits and helped establish the relationships that keep me coming back. To me, the essence of a great hotel lies not only in its architecture or amenities, but in the genuine service and passion of its team. The warmth, attentiveness, and heart shown here are what make this property exceptional. Verdict: Without a doubt, this is the best IHG property in Guangdong Province, and personally, my favorite among all IHG hotels. If you’re visiting Guangzhou—whether for business or leisure—this hotel is worth every yuan. Treat the staff with kindness, and you’ll experience hospitality at its finest.

We had a very nice stay at the IC Guangzhou. The rooms were very modern, clean and spacious. Importantly, they have excellent labelling of food allergens which is uncommon in China. We really appreciated the effort they took to cater to my son’s food allergies. The staff were so helpful. I would definitely stay again.

I stayed at InterContinental GuangZhou Exhibition Centre (located in PaZhou)recently and the customer service was exceptional. This is why the IHG will always be my first choice when travelling abroad. I would like to specially mention the staff working at the executive lounge. They were very welcoming and the management there was amazing. The staff there are truly very valuable assets to InterContinental GuangZhou Exhibition Centre and I would definitely recommend this hotel to others coming in the future.

This hotel truly stands out with its impressive cleanliness and outstanding facilities. Our room offers a fantastic view of the Canton Tower, which is simply breathtaking. However, it is slightly far from the shopping and dining areas.

Of all the club lounges we've been to, Claire - manager of the club lounge, gave us such a warm, accomodating and fantastic service! We felt like we were at a 6 star resort. She truly went above and beyond for our requests and was very proactive in fulfilling all our requests. We also had this unusual request to go to Shunde, she promptly connected us to Golden Key concierge Bale Mo. Bale Mo recommended us amazing famous local places to visit in Shunde. We were able to make a day trip there on a Didi and eat all the good food around Shunde without a guide! :D Thank you Claire and Bale for making our stay in Guangzhou so enjoyable!

Absolutely great experience in InterContinental Guangzho Exhibition Center. Very stylish hotel, upgrade to a fantastic suite. Perfect InterContinental Club on the 39th floor with amazing views. But the real gem of the InterContinental and the Club is miss Claire He. She made our stay very comfortable and always helped with any questions about city and hotel. Air conditioner was not cold enough

I stayed with my wife for 6 nights at the InterContinental Guangzhou where we experienced a warm welcome and excellent service throughout our stay. Whilst we spent most of the time outside of the hotel, visiting friends, I would like to highlight the quality of the Executive Lounge and its ambassadors. Marta, the Asst. Front Office Manager took care of us, helped me with my SIM card and DIDI. She even paid my Didi ride in advance for me as I could not connect the app with Wechat pay. This was very impressive and much appreciated. The food offered during the happy hour was that good, I had problems to motivate my wife to go for dinner afterwards.... As well the lounge team, especially Tina, took good care of me, when I was sitting outside. She knew what I required after my first visit without asking. The room was very spacious, well maintained and the bedding is as all InterContinental setups just wonderful. I experienced a well-managed hotel, this is the reason why we extended our stay from initially 4 days to 6 days. Job well done and very memorable! Thank you, InterContinental Team! All the staff have been extremely friendly and helpful, especially Martha and Cici, during the 4 days of our stay at the hotel. A few issues with Alipay and taxis were all sorted out with excellent advice and patience. Recommendations on where to go and what to see, and how, was golden.

I stayed here as it was close to the trade centre, turns out it isn't and its a 20/30min walk and the hotel doesn't have a bus service so I had to get a taxi or walk to get to the expo centre. On the positive side the hotel and hotel staff were amazing and couldn't do more to help.

At this hotel, the stay is luxurious and pleasant even for business time. Amazing breakfast, exquisite suites, and kind staff every time. Fruits basket in the room once a week, as well as complimentary special desserts. Fantastic room service for those nights you want to enjoy dinner in your place.

Very friendly staff

As far as business trips goes, this was a real treat. The InterContinental Guangzhou Exhibtion Center Hotel is conveniently located near the Pazhou exhibition center which made it an ideal location during our business trip. However, apart from the close proximity to the venue, the service from the hotel was impecable! From the entire staff and managment to the food and beverages, the hotel had outdone itself. Everywhere we went in the hotel, the staff were freindly and helpful. Rooms were clean and serviced effeciently. The food in each restaurant was delicious and well prepared. The GM and managment were very friendly and always on top of everything in the hotel. I will definitely be coming back and recommend anyone visiting Guangzhou to stay at the InterContinental Guangzhou Exhibtion Center Hotel!

I have spent many a night at InterContinental Hotels even achieving the Royal Ambassador level. The IC Guangzhou is at the top of its game. From are smooth check in to the great staff. Martha Roberts makes all guests feel like family and important customers. Clair in the Club InterContinental was a deligh.t. We were a group of 6 and we all were treated as special guests I saw a gentleman standing in the lobby and knew right away it was the General Manager Adam Haywood. I went and introduced myself to him and compliment him on the hotel and staff. As busy as he was during the Canton Fair he made sure that we had a cab or the hotel shuttle to the Fair. When we arrived back to the hotel we were greeted by Mr. Haywood and stall to cold towels and beverages plus a Chinese Show (great touch after a long day). All the dining was great. But I think the the Club InterContinental was a bright star. Could not have asked for a more perfect stay. Thank you to all the wonderful staff.

We arrived here for a long weekend and had the good fortune to meet the General Manager, Adam Haywood. He took us up to the Club InterContinental to check in. This interaction with Mr. Haywood set the tone for what was to be a very enjoyable stay. We were met there by the Claire He, the Club InterContinental Manager who was absolutely amazing. Nothing was too much trouble for her and she was very, very welcoming. We were quickly checked in and Claire had helped us book a table at the Canal Luna Restaurant. We had booked a Junior Suite and found it spacious and well appointed. The lounge area was large and comfortable – suitable for relaxing or even holding work related meetings. The lounge had its own toilet and all the usual facilities for making tea and coffee, plus a mini bar. Throughout the suite there were ample wall sockets, some of which came with USB A sockets too. The bedroom was spacious and comfortable and the whole suite made the most of the wonderful views of the Pearl River with the provision of seating by the floor to ceiling windows. The bathroom had a lovely hot tub where one could relax and admire the view as well. All in all, the suite provided every comfort and if something was needed, such as a change of pillow, it was only a phone call away. The walk-in closet provided ample space and this would be welcomed by the business traveller who needed space for formal and informal attire. During our stay we were very well looked after by the staff on our floor, particularly by Yaoha who serviced our room. Lunch at the Canal Luna Chinese Restaurant was kicked off with one of the best selections of teas I have come across and the meal was classic Chinese Dim Sum and at just under HK$400 for 2 persons was pretty much as expected for such a prestigious hotel. The atmosphere was very pleasant and the staff were all very attentive and helpful. The Club Intercontinental provided the usual afternoon tea selection and evening cocktails. The lounge itself is beautifully situated with a view of the stunning Pearl River which is breath-taking by night. There was a good range of wines, beers, spirits, and mixers/soft drinks and a very nice selection of hot and cold dishes, catering for every taste. Manager Claire set a very high standard and it was obvious that her staff were also very happy to go the extra mile to make guests feel at home – I cannot praise all staff members at the Club highly enough as they were all very, very helpful and cheerful. We had the option of breakfasting either downstairs or in the Club. The restaurant on the 1/F had a wide variety of dishes catering for all tastes. The only problem here was that the choice was so wide, it would be impossible to sample it all, even during a longer stay. At the Club the choice was smaller but still catered well for most tastes and in addition to a buffet, freshly made to order dishes were also available. The hotel is very well situated for trade fair visitors but is also well connected by public transport for general visitors as well. The only problem we had was getting a taxi early on a very wet Sunday morning and this was easily solved by the Concierge who booked us a ride through Didi (Chinese Uber style app). We had a really relaxing stay thanks to Claire He and her staff and the overall impression was that one was a highly esteemed guest in her home. Adam Haywood is to be congratulated for running such a welcoming and well-appointed hotel. I would not hesitate to highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Guangzhou or the surrounding area and I will certainly try to visit here again.

A great travel experience, where you can clearly see your waist in the room you checked in. As night falls, the scenery gradually becomes more and more beautiful, but the only downside is the lack of a few stars. For those who have been busy all day, returning to the room can truly achieve physical and mental comfort.

All is good except asking customer to top up holding credit amount when charges are being put to room ( dining etc.. ). Gave me the feeling that they are afraid you do not have money to pay after check out. I have never encounter such issue before when travelling in different parts China at those international hotel chain.

My room was massive, with a great view. The service is impeccable and it’s fairly close to the Canton Fair.

Had an amazing stay at this hotel. The property looks new, well maintained, and has a nice design. We were also upgraded to a river view room, and the view looks spectacular. Always loved coming back to this hotel at night.

First moment into room, the curtains slides to the sides and a vista of the river from the floor 30 was a prize for me. BUT after one day, the weaknesses start flowing in which do not match the name of 'Intercontinental'. Rooms: Waste Baskets not cleaned everyday. Towel not changed regularly. Light of one bed not working. A bad smell probably coming from sewerage was spread everywhere in the room. Café Aqua: 3 broken glass windows were found and were not replaced during my whole stay of 5 days. Uncleaned utensils were found. Need special attention. Though staff was very nice but didn't know English. Some Suggestions for improvement: 1- An English language city map showing all gates of Exhibition center and the route to the hotel should be available. 2- A hotel card is needed. The current match box is too small and its color scheme makes it illegible. 3- Metro chart in English should also be available with the special mention of the hotel, exhibition center and other places of interest. 4- Please make some arrangement for city guided tour, on guest request. All this doesn't mean it was a bad choice to select the hotel. The Buffet was excellent with a lot of variety of food and the clear mention of the ingredients. The reception, concierge and the Taxi arrangements were fantastic but my above mentioned points need attention of the management.

The hotel is very pretty. However, the restaurant options are very expensive and when they charge $35 for a burger, I expect it to be good. It was not. Hotel overall is good, but just find it annoying that that they need to jack the food and drink prices to such a high level and not deliver on the quality.

Stayed at the hotel for the Canton Fair in fall 2018. (Go nearly every year to the Fair.). Hotel had a free shuttle to the fair, but if the weather is OK it is not too long a walk, either. Hotel staff was really attentive. Health club was great. Hotel had free movies. My room was big, bed was great, bath was excellent, everything was very clean and quiet. Top level service, very nice stay.

Good place for visiting and resting

This hotel is great for business travelers attending the Canton Fair. They have a short shuttle bus ride to the fair and it was always prompt and timely when I took it. Their customer service is great and every staff member is super attentive. The staff to guest ratio is really high and everybody is very polite and pleasant. The breakfast buffet has a good selection of Chinese and Western food. Their dinner buffet is EXCELLENT. Everything was delicious and they have the most seafood options I have ever seen. Their a la carte food items are so-so...go for the buffet! The rooms are very spacious with nice amenities. I did have an issue with the shower draining slowly if I tried using the rain shower head and the TV remote not being responsive but those aren’t dealbreakers for me. The only real downside is location. While it is very convenient for the Canton Fair, it’s also situated in a quiet/undeveloped area so there are no shops, etc. in the immediate vicinity. This was not a problem for me but for tourists who like to walk everywhere this location may be too remote. I would stay here again!

The price was expensive due to last minute booking so close to the fair date and proximity to the exhibition center but the staff were all very professional and polite made my stay that much more enjoyable

I stayed at the hotel from 23rd to 28th April and was quite pleased with the overall experience. The hotel is very new and just opened in January 2018. The staff are excellent and all of them speak English - which is a good thing in China. The only issue I had was that there were not many vegetarian options in the hotel - even in the room service. Nearby the hotel there are many food places, all within walking distance - unfortunately none of them catering to vegetarian foods.

Stayed here 3 months after their opening. I would give it high marks on comfort and amenities, but the food could have been better. Wasn't terrible, but wasn't what I'm used to from other Intercontinental hotels.

The food is way overpriced. I would recommend walking 10mins to dine in local restaurants. The hotel is a very expensive hotel with not a lot of difference between a deluxe and a standard. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming.

Great experience! everything was perfect, from start to finish.

Drilling start at 8 am every morning. Breakfast is terrible. Huge line to omelet station. Definitely not Intercontinental level. Will never stay there again.
