Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Philip was a great host and his breakfasts were top notch. Location was very close to everything we had planned for our stay. The unique shower was entertaining.
The bed was atrocious. The room was well defined with furniture and needs, but the bed was stiff as a board and very uncomfortable. We did have to use the fan to keep the room cool. Thank you for having the fan there.
Excellent
Very clean and close to everything! Philip was very knowledgeable about the area !
The breakfasts were wonderful, but I like having breakfast with other guests. The bed was not wonderful- needs mattress replacement. The host was very very nice.
the mattress.
Breakfast was served in the room, which worked out well for us as we had a to be at our programme at 9 am each day. It was a lovely breakfast.
Great location!
Room was small, had a noisy air conditioner and a tiny shower. The breakfast was delivered in a bag - not at a table- the omelet was lukewarm.
Phil was a fantastic host, breakfast was delicious, the grounds and home are lovely and so close you can walk or bikeride to everything in town.
we loved it all!
From the moment you walk in and welcomed by your host Philip it is truly a wonderful experience. From the well designed rooms with all the amenities to the amazing home made breakfast cooked fresh every morning by Philip himself was a special touch. The location could not be more perfect to top off the experience.
Breakfast was tasty
Offer hot oatmeal with the croissant
Breakfast was excellent. Couldn’t ask for a better location we lunched at the golf course which was a few blocks to the water. The main shopping area was just a couple blocks in the opposite direction. A lovely courtyard and a nice gazebo area to share a glass of wine. The host was a very personable and gracious man
In our opinion nothing. Even the weather cooperated. On site parking is a nice bonus
The location is perfect for Niagara-on-the-Lake. One can walk to all the restaurants and theaters. Our room on the first floor was weird -- shower enclosed in see-through glass on one side of the room that required all the window curtains to stay down as one was showering and dressing. There was no privacy taking a shower from anyone else in the room. Also, no directions on how to use the double shower -- it was trial and error. Breakfast was delivered to the room and the menu was decided by the owners, with no choice. I brought my own gluten and dairy-free food. Breakfast was only fair for those who ate the delivered breakfast. Finally, shoes weren't allowed in the rooms and had to be left outside in the hall to save the floors. An OK thing, but guests should have been warned so we could have brought indoor slippers. Or the owners could have provided cheap slippers to wear inside the room as ir was not all carpeted.
See above. Breakfast could have been better and allowed for some choices. Provide cheap slippers to wear in the rooms. Warn the guests assigned to rooms with the showers open to everyone in the room so they are prepared. And towels --particularly the bath towers -- should have been larger and thicker. At least for the price we paid.
Fantastic location and gracious accommodations delicious hot breakfast, right at the door
Our room was adorable and so clean. The breakfast box was delicious
Great location and fabulous breakfast!
Location
Small room
Phil serves an excellent homemade breakfast to your door
Our room was exceptionally cosy with added touches that really enhanced our stay. The lighting, the shower, the delivered continental breakfast,…just wonderful. Our host, Phil, was inviting and offered up terrific ideas on how to spend our short stay. Being just around the corner from the main street and walking around all the beautiful side streets was ideal. Definitely recommend and will definitely stay again. Thank so much, Phil!
Location
No counter space in the bathroom
This is a beautiful historical home in a great location. The host Phillip could not have been more welcoming or gracious. I loved the memory foam king bed but my husband did not like it as well. Since these room are remodeled in an old house they are a little odd but beautiful. Breakfast was delivered each morning about 0830. Croissants, fresh fruit, juice and yogurt also some hot egg dish (personally I liked the breakfast sandwich but not the omelette or the other dish). But there was plenty and it was local….great coffee. It was nice. Parking is good and it is so convenient to the downtown area and Lake Ontario. Phillip would help you with anything you might need. It is a quirky but perfectly lovely place to stay when you visit NOTL.
The just was very accommodating and friendly. Since we had to leave early in the morning, he packed us a travel breakfast! Awesome!
Phil was a great host and it was a perfect location! His breakfast was also very delicious!
Our host Phil was amazing and you cant beat the location!! We are definitely coming back!
Phil is a great host and cook. Enjoyed and appreciated fresh made breakfast. Highly recommend! Will be returning on future visits
Phil was very welcoming and personalized with our service
The host is genuinely kind, the breakfasts unforgettable, and every detail made us feel cared for and at ease.
Location was perfect and the breakfast was very good.
Maybe a little noise from what seemed to be the room above, but really not bothersome.
Great B&B experience. Other than a very small shower stall, the entire experien e was fantastic. Awesome breakfast brought to our room. Thanks Phil.
Perfect location and fantastic host. Short walk to everything.
No dining room or real common area, so breakfast had to be eaten in your room if the weather isn’t great (when you can eat outside in the garden area, which was nice)
We had a wonderful time! The place was beautiful, morning breakfast was delicious too. Great location to shopping and the lake. Phil our host was the best!
Love the location, staff was nice, food was great
Mattress was old
Wonderful property! Great location right between town, shops and Lake Ontario. The room was very pretty and comfortable! Nice outside sitting area. Good breakfasts. Our host was very accommodating.
Loved our visit at Old Ivy. It was quiet and very convenient to NOTL downtown district. Parking was easy. Breakfasts were filling and delicious. Easy walk to Lake Ontario and restaurants. Philip, our host, was very gracious.
Home, cleanliness, food and host were all great, we will return.
It was beautiful and the host was amazing
Great stay - walking distance to the historic district. Phil was a great host.
Exquisite room with all usual amenities. Lovely breakfast and gentle and thoughtful host. A pleasure to stay here.
Old Ivy Walk is the perfect place to stay while visiting NOTL. We were able to park our car at the house and walk everywhere. Our host, Phil was a pleasure to get to know. Even before we met he gave recommendations on where to eat, when to buy show tickets, etc. A delicious breakfast was waiting for us each morning. The house is beautifully maintained and very comfortable. We are looking forward to visiting again this summer.
Loved the area. So beautiful. Philip was a wonderful host. Breakfast served at the room was an added bonus!
Old Ivy Walk was a fantastic place to stay! The room was so nice and updated nicely. Phil was a great host and made us a wonderful breakfast. Plus , it’s just a block off the main drag which made it so convenient.
Everything was outstanding and Phillip was the perfect host.
This is a lovely, quiet location with excellent accommodations. Phil attends to every detail, and the attention and care for all areas is evident -- from the elegant breakfasts each day to the resources for local interests to the genuine interest in the guests. I would highly recommend!
Great proprietor. Great and spacious room. Great breakfasts.
Time to replace the mattress on the bed in the room we had.
Close to heart of theatre scene. Quiet, walkable lots of dining choices. People friendly.
Excellent location and host
Excellent experience, wonderful location. Beautiful!
Everything the room spotless comfortable quiet.
Nothing
Location. Breakfast was fabulous. Quiet
breakfast in a box was nice touch. Would have preferred a hot sit down breakfast
fully cook breakfast served from the beautiful kitchen
Friendly and accommodating.
Close to town, restaurants and an easy drive to nearby wineries.
Absolutely perfect: tastefully decorated rooms, comfortable beds, perfect breakfast (with home made pastries) and just incredibly warm and welcoming atmosphere
There was nothing not to like
Nothing fancy but very clean. I don’t know why but water smelled bad. Even I smelled when I was taking a shower.
The property and facilities were beautiful, and the host was extremely gracious.
The breakfast was delightful. We didn't expect a boxed breakfast which you could enjoy there or take it "to go". Quite a variety of items and all delicious! Our host was so nice - wish we were staying longer so we had more opportunity to chat with him. Rooms were comfortable and nicely decorated. Bathrooms were beautiful.
Nothing that could have been done better. The only thing we were a little disappointed about was that there was no "diningroom" where the guests met for breakfast each day, so we didn't get an opportunity to meet and chat with the other guests. This is something we are used to from our other B&B stays and something we always look forward to. Yes, there was a nice table and umbrella on a patio, but the weather was too humid to eat outside while we were there.
Highly recommend. Property is so conveniently located. Lovely bedroom. Washroom was nice and big with lots of counter and shelving space. Lovely garden. Parking. Host is kind and accommodating.
This is a lovely B&B with a very accommodating and sociable host. The breakfasts were delicious. It is very convenient and walkable to shopping, dining and theaterr. I highly recommend it.
Philip was delightful and the amenities were wonderful. A little humid in the room though.
Breakfast was wonderful, location was superb! Manager/owner Philip very accommodating
N/A
The location was great!
Parking was horrible. Breakfast wasn’t fresh (not made on the premises)
Phillip was very accommodating to a fussy diet! Philiip was also very engaging.
The breakfast and location were superb!
We are older and climbing stairs a little difficult with carry on suitcases. The air conditioner was extremely loud and we had trouble sleeping. The owner/ manager was delightful and the breakfast was excellent even though it was a carry away!
Everything
The host, Phil, is very customer-driven, friendly & helpful. The room was spacious , comfortable & filled with all the amenities we needed. A bountiful, scrumptious Breakfast was homemade & hand delivered each morning to our room. The property was in a perfect location for enjoying NOTL & area sight-seeing or just relaxing in the BnB patio gardens. THIS IS THE PLACE TO BOOK!
Location was great. House is beautiful. Phil was a great host.
Phil our host is a wonderful man who is detail oriented and extremely attentive to needs. We both had special dietary needs and he easily satisfied them and inquired about them. Bed is wonderful there- great nights of sleep. Back courtyard area is beautiful and we for once sat outside and actually relaxed- a rarity on vacations. The location of the Ivy Walk is phenomenal. In minutes we were downtown. Need something to eat?....fantastic restaurants in a five minute walk. Phil just runs a wonderful inn which he cares for deeply. We feel that we made a friend in Phil, a great man. We will definitely be going back !!!
Fantastic stay !! Not one concern.
The location, attractiveness of the architecture, garden areas and communication with management were wonderful.
We felt the facility and food were misrepresented as higher value than they were. We were highly surprised and unimpressed about the following: 1. no dining room for guests to sit and enjoy a tasty breakfast. We ate breakfast out of take out packaging in our room; 2. other than in season asparagus, the quality and taste of breakfast foods, juices and coffee and tea were far below the advertised ranking and per night price; 3. it was upsetting that our used breakfast dishes, and take out food wrappers were still in the room when we returned late afternoon. There were no instructions to put them outside the door.
The breakfast, although served as a takeout meal, was very good. Healthy choices were tastefully presented. The location was superb - just steps away from Queen Street and many attractions, including the King George Theatre. The garden in the back is lovely.
The shower stall in our room was a bit small, but given that the house is over 200 years old, that is to be expected!
I had the best stay! Phil was a kind and generous host. The beds were extremely comfortable, our room had a fireplace, bathtubs, and robes. Each morning, Phil personally greeted us with a warm breakfast and coffee served right to our room. Such special treatment! The location also could not have been more perfect being a block away from the main street. I would absolutely recommend and would love to return!
Nothing!
Lovely spot. Philip is an excellent, attentive host. Breakfasts were delicious. Room was spacious, clean, quiet and nicely decorated. Highly recommend!
Great location. Comfortable rooms. Waffles in the morning were best we have ever had. Philip, our host, was kind and helpful. 10 stars!
We liked that it was so close to downtown, just a few short blocks. It is a very walkable area, and Niagra on the Lake has some truly unique shops and restaurants. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The breakfast, which we ate in our room, was very tasty. Food allergy issues (lactose free and gluten free) were willingly accommodated!
Loved the house and location. Historic house with modern interior.
Beds were low to the floor.
Perfect B&B for Niagara. proprietor very knowledgeable and breakfast excellent.
Our room was perfect for our weekend getaway. It was clean, had a comfortable bed and its own bathroom. It was close to the down town area and a quick walk to great restaurants and coffee shops. The owner, Phil, was very kind and helpful. He also made some amazing waffles:)
We had a lovely stay at Old Ivy Walk, right in the middle of town. Nice big room, comfortable bed, hot water, delicious breakfast. Philip is very kind. Would recommend and stay again!
Like the option to have the breakfast to share or take away.
Everything was great. There was a little confusion on the last day. Another couple left early for a family emergency and thought the breakfast that had been left out for us to take was for them. They mistakenly took our breakfast on their way out. It was not a huge problem as we were stopping for lunch early anyway. It was just confusing with the way the breakfast was left out and not knowing who it really belonged to.
Breakfast was fantastic
the location was perfect and the owner was very attentive and staff were great.
the room itself. The bed was very uncomfortable as well as the chairs provided. the furniture was modern but the Inn was very old, which would have been nice to have matched. The bed was inches off the floor and no comfortable place to sit. Breakfast was good and creatively served.
Perfect location, one block from Queen street. Nice size room and bathroom with large soaking tub. Yummy breakfast delivered to our door. Lovely home. Only drawback might be the small shower if you are above average size. It was fine for us but just a note for anyone staying in that particular room (upstairs on right). All in all a lovely stay.
The location was great for the main shopping streets in Niagara on the lake. Also walking distance to the lake which was beautiful. The room was lovely in a stunning building.
Would have been nice to have been welcomed by the owner on arrival. There was very little contact with the owner, though we had his mobile number should we need him. No one to leave the room key with on departure so just left in table by front door. Again it would have been nice if someone had said goodbye to us. Would have been nice if breakfast was served in a dining room, rather than in a box dropped off outside your room. The shower was very small so nowhere to escape the initial cold water! Also no privacy as walk in bathroom with no door. Thankfully there was a separate toilet.
Loved it!! Delicious, nutritious and fun that we could take it with us. Great presentation!!😊
Everything was simply wonderful. The only thing I would add is a comfy down duvet and the king bed was too hard but that is a personal preference.
Breakfast was modest, was expecting a fresh cooked breakfast , not a waffle
Tv service was terrible, not working properly even after set up by ma ager
Location! Quiet!
No common area. No interaction with others. Never met the owner or staff??
