Very good place to be. We really enjoyed everything. Best was the breakfast of Shashi, our host. He was very kind and we got great tipps from him what to do here around. We absolutely recommend when staying around Ella.

This lovely quiet hotel is located a short tuk tuk ride from the busy city of Ella. The views are lovely. The service and meals are great. Sashi was a gem. He provided us with information on what to do and see in Ella. Highly recommend this as a place to stay. Especially enjoyed hearing the birds singing and the peacocks calling

Beautiful quiet area not far from Ella with greatl views, a delicious extensive breakfast, Shashi is very friendly and makes sure you have a good time location.

L’emplacement est éloigné du centre d’Ella ce qui d’un côté était reposant mais d’un autre côté pas pratique pour y aller. Heureusement Sashi a su nous aider et a fait en sorte qu’un tuktuk était à notre disposition.

The only good thing about this hotel was the staff named Shashi, He was very friendly.

Everything else was poor. Room so small, bed uncomfortable, no facilities, very bad location ( no Tuk or Taxi available). Breakfast was good but rooms so disappointing

Sashi was an excellent host available day and night The price and it's high ranking was a a good choice for us. Many thanks to mother nature outstanding view.

Hospitality was great, Shashi in particular was accomodating to our diet and went above and beyond to provide an exceptional service.

Die Lage oberhalb des Bahnhofes Kithalella ermöglicht einen tollen Ausblick in alle Richtungen und ein vollständiges Eisenbahnerlebnis . Man kann von hier aus in Richtung Demodara/ Ella also über die NineArche Bridge fahren, oder in die andere Richtung nach Haputale und dann mit dem Tuk tuk zum Lipton Seat. Wir haben die Schienen als Weg nach Ella benutzt und den Ella Rock bestiegen. Vom Hotel sieht und hört man den Zug. Das Hotel ist zweckmäßig eingerichtet mit sehr bequemen Betten. Alle waren super freundlich, besonders Thushara. Das Frühstück war üppig, abwechslungsreich sri lankesisch und dazu noch Omelett und Toast. Immer etwas neues zum probieren, alles lecker. Meine Tochter schwärmt noch davon. Das Abendessen hat große Portionen und ist sehr günstig. Die von Thushara organisierte Cooking class war in 15 Minuten zu Fuß zu erreichen.

Es gibt keine Abtrennung zwischen Dusche und dem Rest des Bades. Das Terrassenmobiliar könnte etwas bequemer sein. Aber Preis Leistungsverhältnis ist einfach unschlagbar

Nice hotel in a cute area with a nice view. Very practical if you want to climb to Ella Rock. Quiet at night but noisy in the morning, and curtains are not blackout ones. The bed are good, but the WiFi is capricious and very slow. Breakfast is good and the people are very nice and welcoming. Overall satisfaction 7/10, I recommend.

Kind of hard to get taxi from the hotel

A lovely little guest house situated in such a calm, peaceful haven. I felt like I was in a model railway! You can see the train coming into Kitgul Ella station from one side of the balcony and then you go the other side to see it curve round. Watching the birds is amazing too. Ella itself is a tourist trap with white faces outnumbering brown by a large factor. In contrast, Dream Catcher is a short trip away and it is super peaceful.

We liked everything of this stay. A good smell of cleanliness welcomed us into the room, which was very clean and full of comfort. The position was really nice, surrounded by the green area of Ella. From our balcony we also saw the famous train passing through the forest. The dinner and breakfast were great, made with fresh products. The staff was very nice and welcoming, they helped us during our stay and made sure that we wouldn’t miss anything. It was hard to leave and we would love to go back there.

Extremely friendly, courteous and professional staff. However, it is a one-person operation. Rooms are reasonably good with moderate amenities (no in room safe). Takes a good 10-12 min drive to go to restaurants/town. Breakfast is worth a 4*.

The rooms were really comfortable and cozy with a beautiful view of the outside scenery from the balcony. It ideal for both couples and families. The food was great and the service provided exceeds the expected. The hotel is situated very close to many tourist cites such as ella gap, little Adam's peak, 9 arch bridge etc. Overall it's an excellent place worth the price.

Clean accommodation, great views of the surrounding areas. Good start point to climb Ella Rock. Staff were genuinely extremely friendly and helpful. Nice quiet location which may appeal to some, however main town and restaurants a little further away requiring a longer walk (30 minutes at good pace along railway tracks) or 10 minute tuk tuk ride (always around).

The location allows you to se the famous train go right around the hill where the property is located. Location perfect ...just a few minutes outside the town ...in a quiet area that allows you to enjoy the " Ella " feeling.

If you want 4* forget this place it’s 0* Very basic and surprisingly very few photos of the outside , I wonder why ? Positives- the young man who seems to do everything checked us in cooked and carried cases . The views - yes stunning , the room no 1 nice except for peeling paint ! Food ok Negatives - bedding tired, balcony chairs old and tatty, NO hot water , railway line runs round the hill on which the place stands , very loud trains . Worst nights sleep on tour , peacocks - say no more !!! Definitely not a resort But if you’re happy to experience this as a change to 4* then do it for one night only !

The access to the property is difficult to find. The stay was very nice. Good food and service by staff.

This location is ideal: easy access to Ella’s rock through peaceful farmland, with a gorgeous train wending quietly through the lush valley. Best of all panoramic views in two directions from the dining room. And the best and most generous breakfast in Sri Lanka. A bargain and beautiful. Very sweet staff too.

This is not a slick impersonal resort; it is a small and humble place. Don’t expect 5* facilities. Do relish the proximity to Ella’s attractions but balanced out by the peace, away from the madness and constant noise of the town. If they could improve the hot water flow then it would be perfect.

Kithal Ella station is only a few minutes walk which was very convenient. The host and staff were very attentive and helpful. The room we stayed in (Room 2) was very average. However, room 1 seemed quite chique. The views were magnificent. The food and fruit juices were good. The hotel is up a steep hill.

Nice and clean place with all comfort and rich breakfast. The owner is especially helpful, picked us up at the railway station and took us to the trailhead the next day. He organized the tuk-tuk for a whole day waterfall trip at a reasonable price. Very nice and clean common area for breakfast and dinner. Moskito nets above the double bed.

The views are amazing every where on the property. The view from my room was amazing. It was so nice sitting on the balcony and looking the view. The breakfast in the morning is outstanding and a feast! The host makes you feel at home and even drove me into town and to my train. They went above and beyond.

I loved our stay here!! The rooms are high up and they have interconnected sliding doors - the wind sweeps through and it is just dreamy. The views are outstanding. Wifi excellent! Food was so fabulous - authentic and large portions. Special mention to the chef who makes the most amazing Sri Lankan potato curry - he has inspired me to perfect it when I get home. We also tried many varieties of Roti. The price is excellent and we will definitely be back!! There is a local tuk tuk driver named Lakshan who comes to pick you up and takes you to some lovely spots in the area - Zipline, Little Adam’s peak and the Arch bridge. The price for his 3.5 hours tour was less than I was willing to pay so I happily tipped him.

The area is hilly - be prepared for this!

We had a unique and memorable 2 nights stay at the lovely Dream Catcher Resort near Ella in a place called Kitha ella. The resort is set amongst the scenic serene hills, on one side you can admire the beautiful valley and on the other side you can see the train track and the hills. The location is amazing, far from the maddening crowd of Ella town, yet just 5 minutes drive and half an hour walk to Ella town. Very close to the Kuda Ravana falls and on the way to Ella Rock. The owner and the staff are so welcoming and will do everything to make your stay comfortable. The food cooked was fresh and delicious. The rooms are very clean and spacious. The road towards the place is steep, but nothing a Sri Lankan driver cannot tackle. We had lovely early morning walks/jogs in the vicinity. Night time star gazing was amazing.

Friendly staff and comfortable!

Walking to the main central area of Ella is via a short cut thru the train tracks. Am experience one should not missed. Lovely views and quiet area. Suited for adventure walkers who doesn’t mind the uphill. Otherwise, a fast tuktuk ride can take you to the accomodation within about 10 minutes. This can also be organised with the owner should you wish. Traditional breakfast was fab ! Staff were lovely. The Pekoe trail is worth a try and can easily be accessed without a need for a walking guide.

This boutique hotel overlooks the railway line and is high up with the most amazing scenery. The owner is most accommodating and couldn’t do enough to make our stay a pleasant one. Even the kitchen staff prepared lovely vegetarian dishes for us. The rooms are neat. The bathrooms however could do with an upgrade.

The location was stunning, off the beaten track, overlooking a train station with the train track semi-circling the hotel. We had a balcony on 3 sides. There were also mosquito nets in the room with 2 double beds. We had a Sri Lankan dinner at the hotel which was lovely and the Sri Lankan breakfast was also very good. No charges for paying by credit card.

We spent 3 nights there with my family of 5 in two rooms. We found the location difficult to find on the evening we arrived as it was dark and raining. When we arrived we were met by the owner and his staff who helped us with the bags to the room. Given the location we were met by lots of bugs near the room entrance as the hallway lights were on. The owner was helpful and quickly sprayed bug repellant. The room itself was basic but super clean. We were surprised there wasn’t any air conditioning but that’s our fault for not reading the description before booking. The beds had mosquito nets just in case you had the occasional fly or insect and the fan in the room kept us reasonably cool. The views from the room were beautiful and the good thing is the trail to Ella rock runs past the property. We woke up to the sound of the train horns every morning and jumped out of bed to view it. The owner aimed to cater for our vegan breakfast needs but on occasion we found the toast was undercooked, or the Sri Lankan meals which are externally catered hadn’t cooked the meals to the standard of other Sri Lankan meals I’ve eaten. The breakfast is usually heated onsite and when it’s arrived the curry’s have been a little cold so we’ve had to send it back. After mentioning to the owner they’ve responded and aimed to please. Apart from that for the price, location cleanliness you can’t go wrong.

Exclusive, calm, and hidden gem. Excellent views, from our room. A/C, superb bathroom facilities. Traditional Sri Lankan food and warm, friendly, staff. This is a hotel away from the coach tours, where we were looked after. We shall be returning to this secret hotel!

My brother, a Monk, my wife and I stayed here. The staff were so friendly and kind. Luckily, it is away from the coaches of tourists and is quiet and calm. The views are amazing.When we return to Ella we will stay here. No hesitation in recommending it.

Very nice little hotel on the top of the hill. The staff was very helpful and kind, breakfast and dinner tasty. Location was great, also you could see trains passing by, what was also special beauty of this hotel. Lots of wild nature and most important peacocks in the backyard.

The hotel is a little bit far from the center but the owner was so nice that he always drop me off or picked me up at the center.

A small hotel in a peaceful hill with pleasant views. Only 250 m walking uphill from Kithaella station (next to Ella main railway station). Very friendly owner and staff. They treated our driver very nicely. Large and tasteful breakfast. We did a traditional Sri Lankan cooking class that was recommended by the owner. It was exotic and nice experience.

Steep hill to get to the place can be a challence to some cars. We made it fine. Also tuk-tuks drive it well.

The view from our large room was very good and we had 2 balconies with chairs on each. We had a free tuk tuk to Ella town both directions. It's location is good for climbing Ella rock and there's a hostel which sells beer nearby.

Our mattress smelled strongly of mould, I often woke up smelling it in the night. We had booked 3 nights but only stayed for two. The manager agreed to not charge us for the 3rd night but only by cancelling our entire booking denying us the opportunity to write a review. Only through complaining to booking.com have I been sent a link to review the hotel. I cannot understand the good reviews for this hotel but perhaps he cancels the bookings of all his unhappy customers. I must say he was a pleasant man who tried to please us once we told him we were leaving early. The booking.com listing said this remote hotel has a restaurant, which it does not. Our first night there we pre-ordered food which was bought in from elsewhere. I think my prawns had been microwaved to death, they were small prawns still with their shells on which were impossible to remove because they were so overcooked. Breakfast the next day was just reasonable although the bananas were inedible because they were so unripe. There are no other restaurants open nearby, except the daytime cafe at the nearby railway station where we ate good kottu. We booked this stay based on its good reviews but found it very poor, especially at this price. We have stayed in many hotels in Sri Lanka on this trip and this was the most expensive and the most disappointing by far.

We had a fantastic stay at Ella Dream Catcher Resort, where the owner Venura picked us up from and dropped us off at our Beragala cottage. He also took care of all our transportation needs to Ella town and other attractions, which was very convenient. This allowed us to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of the resort and the lively vibe of the town whenever we wanted. We just contacted him whenever we needed a ride. We also hiked Ella Rock, which was easily accessible from the hotel as it was located near the trail head. The room and the service were excellent and we couldn’t ask for more.

It's a nice property with Amazing views of the Railway track and hills around Ella. You can just enjoy the amazing Balcony and relax. Special mention ti our host Venura for being very warm and hospitable. He goes the extra mile to make your stay comfortable and also shows you around Ella. Would highly recommend this place

everything was perfect about this stay- big beautiful room, breathtaking views, good breakfast. the owner was extremely helpful and always helped us to get to the hotel, as it is located high in the mountains. he also shared directions to most popular hike to Ella rock. I really appreciate everything and hope to come back some day!

The view was breathtaking! The room had a great view of the surrounding landscape. Also the breakfast served was wonderful. Venura and his assistant were extremely friendly and helpful.

The roads leading to the resort was narrow and worrying. Access to Ella town from the resort is about 10-15 mins and the roads are steep.

Exceptional service from the owner who couldn’t do enough for us. We enjoyed delicious dinner and food at breakfast too. He arranged a tuc tuc for us to go sightseeing and a trip to the local tea farm. Our room was comfortable and overlooked the beautiful countryside. I would recommend.

Excellent location on a hilltop overlooking the railway tracks ((several view points from room and resort) with views of Ella Rock, short walk to a nice waterfall and close to the Organic Tea Plantation. Superfriendly and knowledgeable owner going out of his way to accommodate his guests. Best food (dinner and breakfast) we had during our trip! Very clean rooms with stable hot & cold water supply, insects were not an issue. Ample parking is available, even small buses can reach the location.

The owner Venura and his team are excellent hosts! He even picked us up from the station and offered us some rides in the city... The rooms are very nice and clean with a fantastic view into the green and surrounding mountains - For fans of the famous train in Sri Lanka even better, as the train track goes around the property and allows great pics! The breakfast is local style and very tasty. Venura has a big heart, takes excellent care for his guests and is always happy to help with advices, tipps or arrangements. We can strongly recommend to stay at your place!!

From the moment I arrived, the owner made me feel right at home. The room has an amazing view from the balcony and the four poster bed has a mosquito netting to keep unwanted bugs at bay. Breakfast is included and it is AMAZING!! Little things added to my happiness such as delivering food to my room and picking me up from town and driving me back. The owner also drove me 6 hours to the airport for a super cheap price. I definitely recommend this hotel completely - you get so much out of the price and they make you feel so special. Thank you!!

What a find, such a beautiful spot high up on the mountain side, spectacular views. The room and facilities were so clean, loved the four poster bed and so comfortable too. We had a double balcony with fantastic views of the surrounding area. The dining area is spacious with all round views very clean. The meals were well cooked and delicious. Loved the breakfast. The staff were great nothing too much trouble for them. I do hope I get to go back to stay at Dream Catcher.

The hosts were super welcoming and helpful, providing us tips for activities, free rides to the city centre when needed, as well as helping broker longer taxi rides at fair prices. Amazing stay here !! Perfect experience including the foods (dinner and breakfast) prepared for us, the view surrounding the mountains, the staff so king and gentle. Highly recommended

The location was accessible by Van. But through very narrow street. The owner met us and gave us a briefing about the property. The hotel is walkable distance from the train station. The view out of the room was amazing. Great breakfast with fresh fruits and western and local options. The owner gave us some advice for things to do.

One of the fans in the room didn't work properly and it was a bit uncomfortable during the night. Be ready to battle some insects as it's nature. When you are with a family that's not used to such an environment it was a battle.

The owner of the place was extremely helpful and polite. He even went out of his way to guide us how to get to the resort late at night. The room was sufficient and very clean. The elephant towel fold is an added extra. I’ll definitely would recommend and stay here again.
