Hotel was lovely , clean , very warm and cozy, room was lovely and staff are really polite and friendly , breakfast was amazing and piping hot with a good cooked selection, good coffee

I didnt like that the room has a book that tells you that you cant eat or drink in the room unless you order room service that stops around 8-8:30 and really expensive, no food or drink to be consumed or brought in from outside, most people head away for the weekend and head out at night for a few drinks and pick up a small takeout on way back to hotel , but here you need to stand outside in the rain and eat before you go in to ask for you key again , i also didn't like that every time you head out to the shops or a walk ect that you need to leave your key at the front desk , that anyone could pick up as not always staffed , also felt like it was to watch if we where bringing any food or drinks in , as came in and i think it was the lady owner that was trying to see what was in my bag , breakfast juice and water ect could have been getting topped up regularly as i had to ask the boy if he could top them up to be asked what one , why not just top up apple, orange and water as three glasses out them and its empty again , i wasn't the only person to ask , bed was uncomfortable as mattress was collapsed in , there is also two clubs outside and a police station, so can be noisy late at night

Booked a room that was advertised on the booking.com site and was given a much smaller room and when i asked for a partial refund i outright was refused even though it wasnt the room i booked and paid for! Scamming customers asking them to pay for rooms advertised on website that are not available at the hotel. Misleading and fradulent. Do not book this place. Staff and management uncooperative and rude.

Noise from nightclub/bar across the road. I realise that was why the room was so cheap and late availability. A Saturday night during the Mofest , so to be expected.

We stayed for only two nights. The breakfast on the second morning was really good. Check in was quick and easy. Room requested was given to us. It was a short trip for my husband's 50th birthday. Not the first time there.

Not the first time there but more than likely the last. No updates have been made. Place needs a good paint job, new carpeting, and new beds. The bed was so uncomfortable, I was unable to sleep both nights as the lumps and what honestly felt like springs were digging into my back. By the time I got home, I was in a lot of pain. As for the staff, they look like they don't want to be there. The morning of the 1st breakfast, the boy couldn't even crack a smile, spoke very dull, and I had to track him down for missing items from our order. The porridge was dry and lumpy as if it was sitting for hours. Housekeeping on the first morning, did not knock and opened the door slightly before I had to say we were still in the room. Housekeeping was extremely noisy in the morning and could wake the dead with how loud they were. Don't understand why they are on the floors so early. This hotel has a lot of potential if done up and done properly. A fresh coat of paint does wonders.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Puppy given a great welcome and found a dog bed, bowl and treats in the room waiting for her. Good breakfast. Easy to get to both St Cyrus and Lunan beaches from here.

The staff were friendly and welcoming. Excellent service from reception and bar staff.

Our room was at the front and we were kept awake by a pub/club customers leaving in the early hours.

The property was ideal for us. We needed a local hotel for a wedding we were going to just outside Montrose. It’s a traditional old style hotel but was very comfortable.

The room as a whole. The outer window was jammed open and a plastic screen thing was placed over the inner wood. This did not stop any noise making the room noisy. The room was so light throughout the night the curtain rail was too far from the wall to block any street light out. The bathroom had black mould on the roof the shower was hot only no matter what you did it was just hot water. And finally the corridor doors constantly slam shut.

The location is very good an easy walk to the high street and the harbour. The breakfast is very nice with a good choice. I had the vegetarian breakfast.

Maybe a pelmet at the top of the windows so light doesn’t get in early in the morning during lighter months ,or black out curtains.

Noisy room. Could hear a loud squealing noise from every time next door turned on their taps. Right across from police station and heard sirens all night

Room 25 was excellent in every respect apart from the window curtain. The window faced east and the window curtain was rather thin and ill fitting. By 4:30 am the morning sun was blazing in through that window and there was nothing I could do about it. There was no way I could get back to sleep. The window needs well fitted blackout curtains or a blind.

It was located where we needed to be and not far from central Montrose on foot. Carpark very close by.

Very tired decor. Took awhile for reception to acknowledge we were there in front of him but minor detail.

When we checked in, we had to wait for the receptionist. An older blonde woman came. She didn't even greet us or ask how we were. She was very rude. The windows in the room were very dirty, but worst of all, room number 2 was above the bar and played loud music until 1 a.m., keeping us awake. We won't be going back and we don't recommend this place to anyone

Very clean traditional building. Private parking next door was very handy and even as I was travelling by motorcycle, I found it safe. Meals in the restaurant were very good. Tracy, the receptionist was exceptionally nice, friendly and very helpful with any problem. Free coffee from a vending machine in the hallway. All in all a lovely stay.

Staff were very helpful. Evening meal portion size was generous, and there was a surprisingly wide choice on the menu.

Opted for a single room, which was small (as expected), but the single bed was not particularly comfortable. In room facilities were fairly basic but clean. Not yet VAT registered so effectively more expensive than I was expecting.

Nice town location close to Montrose train station, friendly staff and the food was nice with very fair pricing two courses and a drink was £23 with nice helpful staff serving me for the price a nice hotel for contractors like myself with big bedroom and big tv with lots of channels to chose from while drifting to sleep on a comfy bed.

I was on the second floor and they don't have a lift i had some heavy work bags and equipment to cart up and down a few steps but for the price i would stay again and if you book more in advance probably get a ground or 1st floor room I booked at 17:00 and arrived at 18:30 the same day.

It was in an ideal location and value for money for the one night stay over. Hotel was clean, warmly, friendly staff and perfect to stay in.

Aufgrund der direkten Lage neben der Hauptstraße und der schlechten Abdichtung der Fenster hört man alles, jedes Fahrzeug, jede Möwe und jede angetrunkene Konversation. Und es gibt keinen Lift, d.h. Schweres Gepäck sollte man nicht dabei haben.

An inexpensive short stay but perfect for what I needed. Late check in, bike parking was just what I needed. Room was comfortable enough, good bed, basic bathroom but all clean and a really nice bed

The place has a really bad smell like an old chip pan, iv had different rooms here but the latest one was really bad the smell was knocking me sick.

Absolutely lovely breakfast, very friendly staff, the hotel is very clean and the mattress was comfortable. Nice clean bed linen. Breakfast was in a pleasant dining area. Free coffee available whenever wanted also a very nice touch.

Pillows were rather old and well used. Room quite small, difficult to access wardrobe. Couldn't open window, luckily it was a mild night, rather than hot but the room did feel stuffy. Having confirmation in advance that check out was 11am then receiving a message at 10:13am stating checkout was 10am. Also was shocked to receive an email the day before we were due to stay that personal ID, eg driver's licence, passport, was required, this was never requested on arrival or during our stay but did seem very strange to receive after booking and paying in full, with no cancellation allowed, a couple of weeks before our stay. Had difficulty getting most channels on the television, could only view one and it wasn't a channel we'd usually watch.

Arrived late and accommodated us for a meal.

The location was great, so close to town and the beach. The room was such a good size. The bed was really cosy. The staff were very friendly.

The 24 hour service night porter was very helpful - and it was great that he could let us in as late as we needed. The girl at reception in the morning was great too. We didn’t bother with the hotel breakfast and instead went to the very close Tescos which served us a magnificent breakfast.

On arrival we were ignored for at least ten minutes by the manager who, without making eye contact or acknowledging our arrival, kept chatting on the phone re unnecessary detail for someone booking by phone. During this a young boy was clearly aware that we should have been at least acknowledged, a smile and a gesture of the head would have done, and did his best to help us with checking in. I don’t think the woman acknowledged us even while processing our arrival and carrying on talking. Boy 120% - woman Nul points. The hotel has a sound problem, and unfortunately the night we stayed there was a couple in a nearby room who had the television on loudly up until 5.45 am.

We loved the ease of everything. Trish, the owner was very kind and welcoming. The staff were all fantastic. The rooms were bright, airy, comfortable. We had three nights with delicious dinners and very plentiful portions…..Steak and Ale Pie etc 😊😊 Dog Friendly. Convenient parking Everything made in house! What a treat. The choice and quality of hot and breakfasts were exceptional. Good amenities close by.

The breakfast was good, I loved the location, near to the High Street. The staff were friendly and made me feel at home.

The room has was in was nice and quiet. Maybe could do with a new bed.

Room was very clean and comfortable. Had a bar meal too which was tasty and generously-sized. Large selection of menu items. Reasonably-priced and good breakfast next morning.

Small things - Showerhead fixing was a bit loose on wall of shower cubicle. Waitress forgot to bring butter and jam with our toast and milk for our coffee at breakfast. Also slight noise at night from 'Sharkey's' across the road but stopped before we slept.

Lighting on stairs not good, especially if someone was visually impaired ; bathroom lacked grab rails for those with accessibility needs; no where to hang bathrobe/ towels when using the shower or to hang coats in the bedroom (only wardrobe)

Breakfast was very good and I would recommend we didn’t get to see much of the town because we arrived and left when it was dark. The park was very nice to walk the dogs I would make a point of visiting again and spending time in the are.
