The location is very good. Breakfast was very good, the coffee was terrible. We didn't eat in the restaurant in the evening as the menu was very poor.

Lighting in the room was poor. The over bath shower was i feel dangerous.

Undichtigkeit an der Decke und erster Schimmel an der Wand! Das Bad war unzumutbar! Nicht sauber, rostige Anbauteile, schimmlige Silikondichtungen. Preis Leistung schlecht!

Self service breakfast was very good with a selection of cereals and cooked foods. Swimming pool was a pleasant temperature and swimming lessons were offered to children

Marmalade was rather runny which made it messy to eat, but it tasted good

The manager was incredibly helpful and made our stay enjoyable. The variety at breakfast was great. The grounds and the view make this a very good location.

This is a small, traditional style hotel in Windermere. It felt very personal and staff were welcoming and helpful. Very high standard of cleanliness. Small but lovely grounds and view of the Lake from the terrace. Small, warm swimming pool. Good choice of breakfast items and although hotel was full, it did not appear busy, and no wait for tables. Dinner menu changes nightly and whilst a relatively limited choice, it was good quality and good value for money.

There is no lift to the second floor where our room was. On arrival it would have been helpful to be advised that there is however a lift as far as the first floor. Our room was very warm but fans were already in place.

Stayed for the weekend due to partaking in a running event in Windermere and thought this the ideal place to make base camp. Overall the hotel is very nice, great location, while slightly dated it's clean and all the staff are wonderful and very helpful. We also had the breakfast which was also perfection and exactly what was needed after a busy weekend, will definitely be staying again if we are up this way.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It is an old building, large, spacious; and the staff were lovely people. Our room was as expected; and we have no complaints about that. It is located in a quiet area, which is what we wanted. We had our evening meal there, and although the menu was of limited choice, it was a good meal with a reasonable price. Breakfast was really good, plenty of choice, and was all I wanted. It is buffet style which i do prefer, and although not on display, fried eggs are available on request, no issue.

The bedroom floor was very creaky, but it is an old old building, and it did not bother us. It is what it is. The location was further from Bowness than expected, 1.5 miles, not the 0.5 miles as quoted on the website; but there is a local bus that passes by if required.

Location was central. Views were amazing and staff were very helpful.

Unfortunate hot water breakdown not fixed for over a week. No hot water on first day. Intermittent subsequently. We understand this was subsequently fixed and we had hot water on our very last day. Housekeeping slightly variable/ inconsistent (day-to-day cleanliness, replenishment of tea/ coffee, changing of towels, etc). Swimming pool changing/ shower areas could be better.

Beautiful setting, cosy bar and dining room with lovely staff. When a problem arose with our room, they were responsive and made sure we were moved and recompensed.

It was a bit too far to walk to the main lake and town and at the top of a steep hill. Nice walk to the lake edge though but to go into town we had to drive and the car parks were quite expensive. I didn’t see a bus stop so don’t think it was on a route as we would have taken the bus

Appalling food for an evening meal. It was slop - I was disgusted and sent it back. I could not believe a restaurant meal could be so awful. Presentation and content were abysmal. They should be ashamed to offer it to anyone. We were tired and hungry at the end of a very long day's driving, and I had booked it as a treat: unfortunately it did not meet my expectations. we were thoroughly disappointed In addition I had to ask three times for more linen and to have our bathroom radiator looked at. Could still not get it to work.

Location was good, staff were helpful and friendly, room was a little tired but had nice clean bed linen and towels changed daily. Tea, biscuits and water refilled every day and breakfast was good.

Day 2 and there was a party that went on till early hours and the room we were in was at the front off the stairs so no sound barrier. It may have been better if the room was on the main 1st floor corridor as that had a door between the ground and 1st floor.

The location was superb, distance from the lake, views of the lake from our room, the room was large, comfortable beds, lay in bed looking at the lake! staff weee friendly, helpful, parking was great and the garden is lovely if you get the weather.

We unfortunately had a problem with staff smoking outside our window on the ground floor which we told reception on leaving

we booked this hotel at short notice and found it to be a lovely place to stay. We were given an upgrade to the cottages and the room was beautiful. The beds were comfortable and we had a great nights sleep. cleanliness was good. The swimming pool was great. The food in the restaurant was very nice.

The coffee machine in the room had drips in the tray not cleaned and there weren’t any coat hangers in the wardrobe apart from the ones the robes were hanging on. A couple of small issues that didn’t detract from our stay.

Good location. Short drive to various attractions nearby. The grounds of the Manor were nice. The pool was good to have.

The manager - The room was advertised with a couch in it, but there wasn't any. On asking about it, the manager said the pictures are only a guide and not representative of what you will actually get. I understand this, but the way it was conveyed was quite curt. I also asked for a couple of extra pillows and again, a rude reply that they do not have any. I have never been refused extra pillows in a hotel! Lost property - We left something (of sentimental value) behind by mistake. On calling, a few hours after checkout, it was said (again rather rudely (without even checking), by the same manager I assume) that nothing was found (which is a surprise). Then on sending multiple messages and calling, another receptionist said they found it, she has it and can mail it out. We were thrilled and were happy to pay for the mailing of it. Then 15 minutes later, they send another email saying it was thrown away by "someone". A good lost and found is a mark of a good hotel. This was most disappointing. Room - There were ungainly stains on the floor the bathroom. The room was near the kitchen of the hotel and there was constant noise and banging at early hours when the kitchen staff came in.

The room was not what we had expected from a standard shown in your website. Our room was much smaller. The whole hot water tap moved and a gap in the floor tile in bathroom which could cause problems in future The diner choice was limited and some items on the menu were not available when requested

You need a car to get to this hotel. Very very long arduous walk from the train station. Very 'old school' establishment. Milk in the room separated when trying to make a cup of tea. Twice. Reception did not explain what their WiFi name was. Had to go down all the stairs to ask. Lots of stairs and corridors.

Very helpful handyman who attended our room but could not assist. Provided his own fan as we could not open windows. In August.

There was a wasps nest outside our window and we had to fight them out of the room then suffer in heat for the full two nights.

The bedrooms. It smelt like cigarette smoke really strongly. I also kept finding lots of hair, some on the bed and inside the bed, on the pillows - and on the bathroom sealant by the mirror, you could see shaving hair where a previous guest had stayed and shaved

Sadly, not like it was when we visited 11 years ago. Some strange guests who don't know how to use a swimming pool properly and push in at breakfast, leave their rubbish all over the gardens. Windermere it's is NOT what it used to be. Some very unsavoury characters in town, didn't feel safe at times and certainly would not walk around after dark.

I requested a lake room view and it didn’t disappoint. What a quaint room and overall accommodation. I was surprised at the grounds: great grassy area and Lounge chairs to watch the sunset over the lake. Very central to the attractions I hoped to see.

All the public areas are clean and well maintained. They look nice and sympathetic to the culture, history and style of the building. I was really looking forward to this Hotel. It’s a bit of a catfish to the rooms.

Room: Poor maintenance, scruffy and generally poor quality. Beds as hard as rocks. Windowsill had holes in it, one double bed didn’t have a headboard (was a permanent bed). Walls scratched and poor paintwork. Room generally smelt damp like the carpets had been wet and not dried properly. Fire evacuation maps only show you the floor you are on which didn’t seem great. It just had the floor we were on and not where to go on the next level (floor 2) 3 fans as it was the hottest room ever. Images look nice, fresh with clean, modern bathrooms- it’s poorly maintained and old. Cheap repairs do not have to look cheap. No tie backs on the curtains and stained carpets. There’s no character or love to the room, cheap looking fixtures and fittings with clashing patterns and colour. It felt like a room in a cheap B&B in Blackpool. Bathroom: black mould on sealant, fixtures not attached well. Botched repair jobs looks poorly maintained. Food: The menu was rubbish and limited choice *Allergy information given different depending on what staff member - needs urgent training! * Pool area smelt of sewage. I did go down after arrival and ask for a room change but was told there wasn’t that option. Nothing else offered other than a room change the following day, I. The middle of the day. I expressed I would want to see the room to check it was worth the hassle but couldn’t. It’s a shame really as ‘Windermere Manor Hotel’ sounds grand and I love to support independent businesses but it just wasn’t good enough especially for £200 per room per night.

Changed the menu the day before we arrived so a lot less choice and tried to tell us there was no kids menu. They did end up making us kids food both days but the old menu would have been preferable to what we got.

The room had an unpleasant smell and we noticed it was dusty and had cobwebs and the mirror in the bathroom had black marks over it. Just looked a bit dirty overall.

Mancanza di aria condizionata sopperita con molteplici ventilatori e deumidificatori con non grande efficacia. Vedendo le recensioni precedenti mi sarei aspettato di più. The mattress springs were protruding, i had a terrible night sleep. I was offered the possibility to upgrade for a better view and larger room while booking , on arrival , when I realised my room was in the far corner of the hotel with a tree blocking all the view, i went to the reception and asked if it was the upgraded room i paid more money for . I was answered “the view is not guaranteed “ ! So , Why offering an upgrade if you can’t have what you paid for?

Could benefit from a little update and revamp - furniture is fine but for a more luxury feel better quality pieces would give it a more high end look.

Very dated and had a smell of old people’s home about it. Bed was very uncomfortable, you could feel the springs in the mattress and no care taken in making the beds. Towels smelt of frying. Carpets not hoovered well and lots of dust around. Noise from the room above was unbearable and prevented sleep, sounded like a child was jumping off the beds constantly and the ceiling was shaking with the bangs.

We specifically wanted a hotel which was dog friendly and the Windermere Manor certainly was, but our room smelled of dog rather more than we'd have liked. Also the dinner experience was ok but not great (we should add that the breakfast and lunch experiences were good)

It was not as close to the lake as we were expecting, the room was very disappointing - it was very plain, the bathroom needed updating and had various damage, the room was exceptionally hot and smelt of fried food.

we had a horrendous night in our rooms - rooms 22 and 19 on the night of 25th July to the point that I would consider the heat in the room to be dangerous. None of us slept at all because the heat in the rooms was between 33-35 degrees centigrade and the night of the 25th ruined our trip climbing Helvellen. We were not the only ones and heard other guests in the morning complaining about overhot rooms. The staff were well aware of this issue of overheating. i have only ever experienced this heat in Mumbai about 40 years ago in a hotel which cost £1 per night. The food which was very overpriced was like hospital food. Poor quality and the property smells poorly. The general manager responded to my complaint in an email by disregarding ALL my comments and stating that everything i had stated was untrue. Appalling lack of responsibility. I am a doctor and I am well aware of the correctness of my statements.

Good value pre the holiday season kicking in. Pool was clean and quiet; children spent 3 hours in there playing. Sheets were clean, and the bedroom clean and tidy. Gardens were lovely & enjoyed the outdoor chess board. Lovely view from outside. Very good value bar snack at lunch time. Breakfast was better on day 2 of our stay; I felt the offering was generous and of reasonable quality. With a little attention to detail this hotel could be very nice. It is in a great location in terms of peace and quiet, with the option to drive to eateries etc in less than 5 minutes.

Room was dark with no view, and wasn’t the one we had booked. Bathroom could do with an upgrade. The potential for this hotel is immense if some additional funding were provided. Not a massive fan of dogs being in hotel rooms and would prefer there to be reserved rooms for guests with animals only. Towels could do with a refresh in the rooms; pool towels were better. Perhaps some outdoor seating adjacent to the pool, but not sure how that would work with the fire doors…could be a good option. Bar drinks could be elevated with slices of lime/lemon etc/smarter glass for a gin & tonic, rum & coke etc. I would stay again with my children but during off-peak season.

On arrival the pool was closed, nothing on the site or an email to tell us the pool shut at 5, that was the reason we chose that hotel so we were very disappointed. Unable to open the window any further our room was like an oven.

The location is absolutely amazing. The breakfast is fantastic and the staff went above and beyond when they could. And as always the swimming pool is just fantastic and the grounds themselves are really lovely.

Booked with a 4 month old baby and my 3 year old. Was put on the top floor and when arrived 4 fans were in the 2nd floor room which isn’t a good sign. If I had known we were going to be staying in a sauna up 3 flights of stairs I’d have amended the booking. Also found the bathroom itself was dirty. Mainly disappointed about the room being so challenging to get to with children and luggage and we didn’t sleep due to the heat.
