Very friendly atmosphere and close to the town Food was excellent we stayed 6 nights and ate in every night.

Lovely hotel, staff very friendly & breakfast was very good 👍 We dined at night & the food was excellent & price very reasonable 👌 Rooms very nice & bed very comfy.

Didn't dislike anything, the only thing that was missing was bottles of water in the rooms & a couple of biscuits but thats it.

Bathroom very small in comparison to large room No full length mirror A few biscuits go a long way when paying a premium price. Hadn’t realised dogs were allowed. The barking and having them at breakfast not my preferred option.

Défaut d'être en centre ville : chambre un peu bruyante due au passage des véhicules dans la rue, quelques détails à ajuster: traces d'humidité sur la fenêtre de salle de bain, ventilation pas très propre. Le café du petit déjeuner pourrait être amélioré.

The food for both dinner and breakfast was really good.

In room 10 the window in the bathroom would have been better with either frosted glass or a Venetian blind for privacy.

Brilliant food, all dishes made to order. So tasty. To die for. Local produce. Staff were so accommodating. Ticked all my boxes what I was looking for in a place to stay. No hesitation in recommending this place. Centrally located in the town. Brilliant.

Excellent location, ample parking. Dead easy check-in and it's a peaceful B&B...

Shower has a very narrow entry sliding door, the room door closer doesn't soft close and bangs loudly. Busy busy roads early outside, which wasn't such a massive issue, but an open window in the heat only amplified the traffic.. Nothing that would put me off booking again.

Loved every aspect of our stay. The rooms, bathrooms, and overall property were impeccably clean and exceptionally well maintained. The breakfast area was warm, inviting, and cozy, with a great variety of options to choose from. Its location is another major advantage—just a two-minute walk from Windermere Station, making it an excellent choice for travelers seeking convenience and comfort. The host and staff were outstanding—friendly, attentive, and quick to help when we accidentally left something behind in our room. Their kindness and willingness to accommodate our request truly stood out and added to the overall positive experience.

Excellent location and the staff were very friendly. The room was very good and the beds were comfortable. The Wifi connected very quickly. We enjoyed the excellent breakfast in the lovely dining room. We would stay here again when visiting the Lake District.

The shower pressure was very poor. A few biscuits would have been welcome on the tea/coffee tray in the room and although there was decaf coffee there wasn't decaf tea. Everything else was very good.

Le personnel est à l’écoute et très sympathique. Tous aux petits soins pour les clients . L’hotel est à 5 minutes à pied de la gare et des arrêts d’autobus,très pratique quand on est sans voiture. Les chambres sont confortables avec un petit.style anglais typique. Les repas du restaurant sont de qualité.

Les options au petit- déjeuner sont typiquement " english breakfast "avec beaucoup à base d’œufs. Nous aurions aimé un peu plus de choix de style continental.

The location is fantastic, close to shops, places to eat & pubs. It’s around a 25/30 minute downhill walk to Bowness. The staff were very attentive and always had a smile on their faces! Happy to help when needed. The breakfast was really nice, good choice of selection to pick from. Plenty of beautiful walks nearby which we made the most of!

The room was very small and not as clean as it could have been. The extractor fan was full of dust which caused slight mould. We picked the hottest weekend of the year and not of fault of the hotel but there was no aircon and we had a small fan. The windows didn’t open fully enough for the air to flow through. The power of the shower was really low, more of a trickle. The beds were not comfortable but we understood it’s each to their own with bed types.

The staff was amazing, friendly and helpful throughout our brief stay. The hotel was quaint and well maintained and restaurant served delicious meals. We had to miss breakfast, our train left before the kitchen opened.

We were exhausted after a long train ride and were disappointed to find the hotel had no lift or AC. The water pressure in the shower was low, but that's true of most hotels.

It’s location.

The receiving staff was welcoming and warm. After a long train ride and taxi to the location and arriving inbetween lunch and supper, we were quickly registered and helped to our rooms. We were given reservations for dinner that night and breakfast in the morning. Rest and enjoyment was all we needed to do. The waiters and housekeepers were all welcoming and helpful. The dinning room food was delicious! The little things mattered and were appreciated…upon arrival and after registration, I wanted to take up to my room a Guinness beer as I relaxed after my trip there. Without a worry, the staff prepared my beer, I paid for it and took it up to my room to drink as I rested. Loved having a full bar, staff to serve it and kind people working there.

Location

On arrival we found it easy to find a space to park on the Lamplighter car park which is free for guests. The welcome on arrival was warm and friendly, and our room was clean and comfortable, with tea and coffee making facilities, a hair dryer for the missus, and plenty of wardrobe space to hang our clothes and store our cases. The first morning we went down for breakfast and was shown to our table by a friendly member of staff who served us with tea and coffee then proceeded to take our order. I went for the full breakfast, and my better half had poached eggs on toast, both were equally tasty, and there's a good selection of items on the breakfast menu for even the fussiest of eaters. We didn't dine at the Lamplighter during our stay apart from breakfast as we had already planned on where we intended to eat before our trip. However, the dining room was filled with people every night so I assume the food must be good. We did have a look at the menu, and there were a variety of dishes to choose from. The location of the Lamplighter was fantastic and only a short walk to the rail station (for those arriving by train or wishing to venture further afield using the network links), or you could take a short stroll into the centre of Windermere to be greeted by an abundance of pubs and restaurants and other establishments offering a selection of cuisines from around the globe such as Italian, Greek, Chinese, Indian, local dishes, kebabs, or just a simple burger. I've waffled on a bit now, but if you choose to stay at the Lamplighter, have a great time.

If I'm truly honest think a little more shinne in the rooms no bleach in toilets

Very homely and very welcoming. The lady who did the breakfast was particularly welcoming and couldn’t do enough. She even offered that she would have done us an early breakfast as we had to leave to be somewhere the morning we were leaving. We also enjoyed the location - it was handy for exploring the lakes and we enjoyed the ‘crafty baa’.

Staircase access up to rooms is not the easiest with changes of direction and awkward hand holds but I do use a stick!

Location is great. Staff are polite and helpful. Room was a great size and beds really comfortable. Breakfast was lovely as well.

Minor issue is just small car park but not really a complaint by any stretch!

Parking difficulties

We had breakfast and dinner in the dining room and the food was excellent. Service was very good. The hotel location is close to the train station and we found it easily walkable, even with bags.

Room 1 was very small for two adults. It was at the front of the hotel so bright and a bit noisy even at night. The bathroom was very small. The shower was difficult to get in and out of and the water pressure was terribly low so it was difficult to really have a shower.

Delicious breakfast, friendly welcome- lovely breakfast staff super polite and lovely! Perfect location, happy with free parking right outside was handy.

Just a suggestion rather than poor feedback as this is hard to get right with plumbing - the shower in room 1 is a trickle not powerful enough so have a proper shower just felt difficult. It could do with getting sorted as was wanting to wash hair but couldn’t wash long hair under that so didn’t really meet my expectations for bathroom must haves.

We stayed in a room (7) directly above the kitchen and from approximately 5am there was lots of banging which sounded like food preparation (I didn’t sleep from 5am) also there was a fan directly below our window and the smell was awful from the cooking. The room wasn’t the best as it definitely lacked TLC. The toilet seat didn’t fit correctly the mirror in the bathroom wasn’t good the lamp didn’t work and there was paint on the Lino. The whole room wasn’t the best tbh could definitely do with re-modernising. We felt like we got the cheap seats. It was my wife’s birthday so wanted to do something special I feel this spoilt it 😢

Everything was very good 😊 the room was big ( room. 11) with a sofa extra and lots of space. The bathroom was huge, and the water pressure was very good and very hot The breakfast had lots of choice and was well served. Food at the diner was excellent and very tasty. Room was cold at night radiator was not working I had to hijack a heater from hall way

Comfy and convenient place along with an amazing service and hospitality from the staff. They helped me check-in earlier and also were sweet to take and keep the luggage in my room (without me even asking to). And they also let me to borrow their cutlery. Thank you kind lady! And as for the location, it’s just 2 minutes away from the bus stop that takes you to the lakes and is just outside the Windermere Railway Station (which is how you ideally arrive in Windermere). Thank you guys! Great job and will be staying with you again!
