Petit Plaisir Cottage

We loved everything about the cottage. This was our second time staying over and loved every minute of it. The hosts are lovely, the cottage has all the necessities. We especially loved the little details like the sweet treats in the room and the kitchen. Upon arrival there was a bottle of champagne and a note wishing me a happy birthday. So thoughtful. It's also situated about a six minute drive from the main road which is great.

This was an amazing stay in a comfortable cottage that we constantly referred to as "home" during our 10 night stay in March. I loved the quality bedding and the very comfortable bed and we couldn't have asked for better cooking and general facilities. We spent much of our time on the cool veranda enjoying the birds and flowers but when we did go out to enjoy the one of the many wine estates it was always lovely to come home, prepare a meal, open a bottle of wine and enjoy our surroundings in a very relaxed way. Malicia made us feel very welcome, ensured we had everything we wanted, helped with a couple of requests I had , was really flexible and left us to enjoy our holiday - such a perfect balance. This is a wonderful place to stay no matter how long you have. I am sure we will be back. Thank you so much Malicia from Jeff and I and hopefully next visit I will be able to purchase one of those gorgeous dresses you wore from Cottonnier. Oh and thanks for remembering that I use my middle name, Jayne, and not my first name as on the booking which meant a lot to me and is not often done.

The cottage is a home away from home. Cosy, comfortable, well-equipped, in a very quiet part of town.

We had a fabulous stay. The house was much larger than we expected and our family of 6 were very comfortable. The beds were really comfortable and each bedroom had an en-suite. Marlicia and Louis are charming hosts and gave us many local recommendations, helping with taxis and Drs. The pool was lovely and so peaceful. It’s a little walk into town but just as easy to drive and park on one of the many side streets. We visited the village market and the Huguenot museum - both worth it. Thank you.

A warm welcome, lovely property, spotlessly clean, great location. Exactly what we wanted four our two nights in Franschhoek. No hesitation in recommending the excellent accommodation to others. Thanks for a great stay.

It was perfect.

Really lovely place around 10 minutes walk from the main high street in Franschhoek. Pool is lovely with comfortable sunbeds. The host was fabulous and just so kind, even doing our washing free of charge (obviously we tipped). Would recommend to anyone.

Well located - close to town center but on a quiet side street; the hosts were lovely and helpful with a useful intro to Franschoek provided; the villa is nice and well looked after. Would reccommend this for a stay in Franschoek.

Everything was good, the owner Marlicia was so friendly and helpful, the petit cottage was bright and airy, spotlessly clean and had everything you needed with little extras. The lady housekeepers were all very friendly and worked very hard. The pool area had sunbeds and parasols, patio furniture, cushions, and a beautiful garden cared for by the two helpful gardeners. We we able to walk into the centre for restaurants and shopping and enjoyed a tuk tuk trip around 4 vineyards which I would highly recommend, really good fun. We also walked to Mont Rochelle for lunch.

Lovely garden, comfortable for a group. The main bedroom overlooking the pool was very pleasant and spacious with a king size bed.

The other two bedrooms had double beds, which were a little cramped for two people. Also a little too far a walk from the town…

Tolles Cottage und Marlicia, eine hervorragende Gastgeberin. Es ist nicht die modernste Einrichtung, aber sehr (!) sauber und liebevoll eingerichtet. Tolles Bad!!! Wir hatten den Poolbereich für uns. Alles bestens!

Just the most perfect little cottage located in a peaceful area of Franschhoek but in walking distance of the Main Street. Everything about this place is wonderful and the added touches like home baked goodies and homemade jam provided by Marlicia just make it that little bit more special. Great for parking. A lovely garden and pool and wait till you see the bathroom -it’s fabulous !

Really nice host, great facilities and a nice location!

The property was immaculately clean and neat upon arrival. We were so pleased to find a cozy fireplace with firewood provided, which made for a perfect evening. The host has truly thought of everything. The kitchen was a dream, stocked with all the necessary cooking gadgets, milk in the fridge, and the most fabulous homemade oat biscuits—they even shared the recipe! The bathroom was just as impressive, supplied with everything we could possibly need, including sunscreen. Check-in was seamless, and having our own key for the automatic gate made coming and going incredibly easy and secure. The best part, however, was the "Forgotten Anything Box." This was a lifesaver, filled with essentials like painkillers, a toothbrush, toothpaste, and even antacids (see photos). It’s a small detail that shows an immense level of care for their guests. We felt so welcomed and looked after. Highly, highly recommend!

The house is so spacious and very well kitted out. We wanted for nothing. The hostess super lovely and welcomed us on arrival and saw us off on departure. Wood was available and craft beer at the property for a small extra fee if used. Cleaning was included and we absolutely loved the electric blankets in the very cold winter nights. Showers were amazing and everything is quite modern with a cosy feel. Would definitely stay again.

We had a wonderful stay at Petit Plaisir. Marlicia was so helpful and welcoming. The cottage was spotless and absolutely beautiful, and a great location near the centre of Franschhoek.

The friendliness and expectional attention to detail

Luxurious, beautifully decorated, spacious home in perfect location walkable to town. Gorgeous garden, shared pool area with outdoor braai and wood fired pizza oven. Secure parking next to house with electric gate. Heat/AC wall units in all 3 bedrooms, plus electric blanket kept us warm at night…fireplace with wood to heat living room. All 3 bedrooms have bathrooms with double head showers in modern frameless glass showers….soaps, towels and robes in each. Master also has a bathtub with bubbles. Lovely owner that was very responsive to any questions. Also gave us a bottle of wine, milk, jam, butter, rusks, granola, candy and lots of spices, plus oil and balsamic. Kitchen had everything and more available for cooking. Highly recommend and would love to return!

Only has a washing machine and had to dry clothes outside. A dryer would be helpful.

We stayed in Le Petit Plaisir, the separate cottage. It could not have been more comfortable and was kitted out with all sorts of things most places would not think of providing, including a box of very useful things designed to assist if anything essential had been left at home. Our hostess was very welcoming and kept in touch throughout without being intrusive. The homemade goodies and milk, butter etc provided were appreciated. The location is perfect - a 10-minute walk into town but away from the hustle and bustle, and in a very picturesque residential area. We highly recommend this place.

Beautiful property, thoughtfully decorated. Lots of internal space with everything you need for a comfortable stay and more (including home made baked goods!). The gardens and pool area are amazing. What made the stay was the owner, who was incredibly responsive to queries, gave us the perfect suggestions for activities and restaurants, and was just so lovely and accommodating, which made my father’s birthday celebrations special.

Everything perfectly laid out, too many nice touches to mention, friendly and efficient meeting, beautiful in every aspect.

Lovely place to stay for a couple of nights. The unit had everything we could possibly need, including the most delicious home made rusks and flapjacks! The attention to detail was 100% and it was perfect for our short stay. Sadly the weather didn't allow us to make use of the pool and loungers this time, but it would have been a great place to relax outdoors.

We spent five nights in the petite apartment, which is beautiful, spacious and very well equipped. Lovely gardens, swimming pool and a braai. The maintenance and cleaning is to a very high standard, WiFi worked well. It’s well located in a quiet / safe area, pleasant walk to an abundance of great restaurants, cafes and wine bars. Highly recommend a visit, we’ll be back!

Marlicia could not have been more gracious, friendly and accommodating. The property is delightful, charming, quiet, attractive, appealing, etc...etc ! There is no question of me staying there (and even longer) on my next visit to South Africa. TOP POSSIBLE RECOMMENDATION GIVEN.

This home was outstanding! Lovely accommodations and a wonderful host! The house was perfect for 3 couples. Each bedroom having its own bathroom was perfect. The home is in a convenient location to town and walking distance to many things to see and do. Marlicia was welcoming and available to answer any questions we had. Communication was outstanding throughout our stay. I wish we could have stayed longer!

Centrally located, easy to find and a short drive from great restaurants and shops if you’re going to be self catering. The home was warm, spacious, well maintained and clean. Me and my 3 guests felt right at home.

The cottage is beautifully maintained. Bedrooms and bathroom spacious with luxury products provided . Kitchen well equipped . Access to garden , pool and patio. Close enough to walk down to the main road but lovely to run around the dam and side roads . There is construction at the house next door to which is noisy but able to reduce the noise by closing the windows . Hostess was accommodating and allowed us a later check out . Warm and friendly and would love to return for a longer stay

Grande Plaisir is spacious accommodation which is ideally suited to larger groups. The kitchen, in particular, is large and well equipped so self catering is easy. Host, Marlicia, is delightful and welcomed us with a complimentary bottle of wine and provided various other basic food items. The gardens are beautiful, the pool and outdoor area well maintained and the property secure. All in all, this is a great place to stay!

Such a tranquil place , a hidden gem. Lois and Marlicia are the perfect hosts. The homemade cookies were lovely , the property had everything that you needed . Marlicia was very helpful and also gave us the number of a local driver ,Johnny, who was great ! We loved Marlicia’s recommendation to eat at Reuben’s! An absolute delight

The builders next door started early and were noisy . Nothing to do with Marlicia and Lois, but maybe the neighbouring property owner should consider that there is a rental property next door and should ask the builders to respect that

Ideally located for the purpose of my visit. Nice and spacious. Loved the finer touches of the wine in the fridge, butter and jam. Garden so beautifully kept, pool sparkly clean. Loved every minute of our stay. Marlicia the perfect host!
