Its location and friendly staff
Welcoming
The staff could not do enough for us so friendly and helpful. Also fabulous food and a charming location. Great base for Goodwood
Nothing
We had such a friendly, kind welcome, after a horrid evening the night before and we really appreciated this! We had a lovely room with a very comfortable bed and great pillows ( so important!). Nothing was too much trouble. We were only staying the night as we were walking the South Downs Way but would like to spend more time in Midhurst and would gladly stay at The Swan again. I inadvertently left my headset behind and the manager is sending it back to me. Customer service above and beyond! Thank you

Friendly staff room was exceptional
All goof
Beautiful property and lovely staff
Very well located. Relaxed & welcoming without being intrusive. Excellent cooked breakfast but I think it would be good to offer healthy alternatives like shakes & overnight oats.
No allocated parking
Wonderful historical property, and came to life throughout the day as a hub for locals and residents. All staff very welcoming and willing. Complimentary breakfast a nice touch, food always freshly cooked and worth the wait.
Due to the age of the property things you may rely on and assume ie basic tv channels may prove challenging. You can adapt and walk around the lovely town or catch up with a good book
Good location

Nice pub and room, lovely staff, great breakfast
Nothing
The Swan Inn is right in the heart of Midhurst. It is a beautiful old property that is a hub for locals and guests alike. But the best thing about the property is that the staff were all so kind and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for them. In fact, when their chef was unexpectedly sick one morning they paid for us to eat at a local cafe.
We loved our stay, but as it was so hot we had our first floor bedroom window open which meant the had the smell of the smokers outside wafting up into our room
Lovely rooms, staff were brilliant.
It was very nice. Although they did not have direct parking, there was parking just down the road by the bridge. It was no problem.
Well located
We were looked after by Matthew who was an outstanding ambassador for The Swan. We had a very good evening meal in the pub however the chef did a "no show" at breakfast but we were provided with an excellent breakfast in a cafe called Collectables just across the road - all paid for by The Swan. The Harveys beer was also very good!
Nothing.
Friendly helpful staff. Old world charm, clean with all necessary amenities in the room. A small fan was available.

Everything needs improvement
great staff, amazing food. Rooms clean and nicely decorated
Noisy shower, broken blind, we found parking extremely challenging
Lovely comfy, friendly place. Breakfast was outstanding and staff where friendly and helpful
It was a lovely place the only disadvantage was no near by parking Parked in a local car park which was approx 10 mins walk away
Great position and lovely old building
Nothing
Loacation is the best about this property.
Lack of customer service and staff friendliness. Rooms need some TLC.
Very helpful staff, and great breakfast!
Breakfast was great. Location ideal for a wedding at Cowdray Walled Garden. Staff super friendly & let us have an early check in to get ready.
Parking a bit tricky but we found somewhere on the road. It’s a pub so a little noisy plus a fair few fast cars seem to use the route there as a race track!
Staff were brilliant. Breakfast was lovely. Room was comfy. All you can ask.
Nothing.
It was a great location but unfortunately it was the hottest day of the year and we had to be u super early and everyone was outside under our window enjoying themselves so was very noisy .
Atmosphere was great. Central location in lovely town
Nothing
Such a beautiful little hotel, the pub was vibrant had such a lovely atmosphere, the rooms had such character and the staff were so so friendly. Breakfast was so so nice and the bar made cocktails that were so delicious
Location and nice bedroom.
The bed had a wooden board at the end. As a tall person this was too short for me and led me to have a bad nights sleep. I was not able to straighten my legs and be comfortable. The hotel does not have a lounge to use, but you have to share the pub downstairs which can be noisy. Breakfast is offered at a nearby café. The staff behind the BAR were friendly and attractive.
Very accommodating, clean, friendly and had everything we needed. We were able to park right to property but free parking is limited. Breakfast was EXCELLENT, top quality and cooked well.
The only drawback was the bath and shower head, the water pressure was a bit rubbish! We had the roll top bath room which we had to pay extra for and was not very usable.
GOOD POSITION NEXT TO MARKET SQUARE. LARGE 4 POSTER GAVE BEDROOM CHARACTER. STANDARD BREAKFAST.
HOTEL SEEMED A LITTLE RUN DOWN INTERNALLY.
Amazing historical building. Great location, rooms and breakfast!
Nothing
Great location to stay for Goodwood events. Didn't eat at the restaurant but the bar was great. Staff super friendly and helpful. Room was a good size, comfortable and clean. Check-in was painless, even when arriving later in the evening when the pub was busy.
The electric shower in the en-suite had low water pressure and was a bit tricky to get the temperature right, either boiling hot or stone cold! Also, room was a little on the cold side. Room had a radiator but I couldn't see any heating controls so probably just me not looking hard enough!

Superb location - fabulous breakfast. Clean rooms and facilities - relaxing ambiance in a period Inn!

Beautiful room, relaxed check in and departure. Nothing to dislike at all
Nothing . All good
Central location and great staff
Very noisy in the evening as it is a busy lively pub / no shower in room
It was comfortable and clean and the staff were lovely. Delicious breakfast. Ideal location for us.
We had a great stay. No hesitation in recommending this accommodation.
Suberb hitoric building in the sublime historic middle of Midhurst. This ancient building is a delight. There was ample outside seating to enjoy the Spring sunshine. Great range of beers and ales. Their cocktails are all expertly mixed. There are only a few rooms, but all are very nicely furnished, very clean, warm and supremely comfortable. There are five or six options for the breakfast (included in room price). We both had the Swan Breakfast, essentially a full English, all freshly prepared and expertly cooked. The level of service is excellent, even when the pub was busy, it didnt take long for one of the staff to come over and offer service. We really enjoyed our stay here. Highly recommended
This place is pretty much faultless. My only very minor gripe is that the window in our room wouldn't open.
Great location and very friendly staff.
Very noisy from the bar below and the road outside the window. W We were unable to have breakfast in the accommodation because we were the only people staying. We were told to have breakfast in a nearby cafe instead, which would be paid for by the hotel. Not ideal and quite disappointing.
We had a leaving do at work so it was close for me to walk to work in morning so excellent location for me i plan to stay again in the near future and come down to bar for a drink and food
I was disappointed i didnt get to have breakfast as i hax to be at work fir 6 am
A really warm welcome on arrival, the room was really lovely. We had both dinner and breakfast and both meals were delicious
Staff were amazingly helpful and polite and everything was done with a smile
The breakfast form was filled out the night before serving , and although certain things were missing after asking for extras etc it was still on top form and delicious
Staff were extremely friendly. Food was great - I had the in house breakfast but also had dinner one night downstairs. Room was cosy, clean, nicely decorated. Worked perfectly as I was attending a course nearby.
Bathroom was a little less nice, but I think goes with the age of the building.
Friendly , helpful staff , excellent menu , delicious food , comfortable bed
Really comfy bed, and friendly staff.
Staff tried to be really helpful, but if I'd known before the morning that breakfast was going to be in the deli across the road I would have made different plans. (The deli was great by the way.) The room felt dirty, needed a good clean and probably a new carpet. Light bulbs missing.
Quaint historic building overlooking the church. Only stayed one night.
Room could have been cleaner (paintwork/windows)
Right nice place to stay! Very old pub with rooms, quaint, and the food was all excellent! Ita not a luxury place, I’d give it an 8.4 overall, but the price was right and we loved it.
The situation and the super helpful staff. Great breakfasts.
There was no dinner service for all three nights we were there. The chef was sick. Real shame but a problem that couldn’t be sorted.
Accommodating, friendly.
Property was in a good location
Beds were very small and not that comfortable. Breakfast took a long time to arrive, but was good quality.
What a little gem! Room was great, staff were amazing (really welcoming and friendly, particularly one young fella!) and food (dinner and breakfast) were excellent. Thanks to all at the Swan Inn!
Nothing!
Location, staff, cleanliness and the convenient position in the heart of Midhurst

Pub is noisy
Room was comfortable, clean and spacious, although the bathroom was rather cramped.
The breakfast was very disappointing - none of the usual cereals, pastries, juices, fruit or toast provided. Particularly disappointing given the quite high price for a room above a pub. As expected, there was noise from inside and outside the pub until after 11.30 p.m. Should have double glazed windows to reduce the inevitable noise.
Beautiful old building with spacious, airy rooms and a good breakfast! We’d stay again!
Great central location. Warm welcome. Kind offer to assist with our luggage was a good touch too. My friend enjoyed her pasta/ fish meal. Breakfast was good.
Room was far too cramped, and dark. Obviously had small windows (as a very old property) but room painted in very dark colours too. Overall affect I’m sorry to say was very gloomy. Looking for a charging point I saw how behind the bed (headboard end) hadn’t been cleaned for a long time…. Very limited vegetarian menu. Very Slow service at dinner - although helpful (? Over stretched) young woman.
Le service était vraiment top et les managers tellement sympathiques. Un hotel charmant avec une belle ambiance.
Nous avons tout aimé :-)
The location, historical history, food, friendly and competent staff
The noise from the bar but appreciate live music is offered on a Saturday night
Wonderful hotel in beautiful old English town! Parking is a challenge but we were lucky! Staff greeter was exceptionally friendly and helpful. No elevator (lift) so prepare for spiral stairs! Food was absolutely first-class as was the service. Highly recommended 👌
Perfect location in lovely town Breakfast was very good staff very friendly and efficient
A great overnight stay in a friendly pub. The room was spacious and very clean and the inclusive breakfast was excellent. The cooked breakfast was one of the best I have had. The staff were great and very helpful - nothing was too much trouble.
Nice bar area, very friendly staff.
Parking is tricky nearby.
All of it
The staff were lovely, the food was great and the rooms were pleasant. We were in room 2.
My aged parents were in room 6 and found the decor too dark. They also found the Prime TV extremely difficult to navigate which meant I had to keep popping into their room to help.
Very helpful staff when we had to change date of arrival at short notice. Kitchen unavailable for breakfast following morning but were advised to use café across the square and just give them our room number and order/eat breakfast there. No fuss at all
Friendly staff, lovely room, great breakfast and pretty location. Can recommended.
Character full old building, very comfortable bed. Very helpful and courteous staff who did their best to sort out a couple of issues which arose promptly and efficiently and satisfactorily.
The kitchen was not open during our brief stay so we were not able to enjoy their food however alternative arrangements were great. The gaps around the window were not a problem for us but could be for others as we were there in high summer and had the window open but if traffic noise was an issue and you wanted the window closed it would not keep the sound out.
Lovely pub in the perfect location for Goodwood! Lovely atmosphere, great friendly staff, great breakfast! Definitely recommend
Nothing we didn’t like
Bed ok, room clean but no normal tv and no hand soap
In the centre of town but opposite the church and it’s courtyard so pretty quiet.
Very pricey for an okay hotel. Room okay - not great - en suite so small. Breakfast was okay - missing cereal and other breakfast nicities but cooked breakfast was good.
Very central. Helpful staff. Good breakfast.
Had to park few hundred yards away in a local car park (£6.60 for 48hrs). No food offering on Tuesday evenings. We got the last room (6) at short notice, hence rather compact and quite dark. Room 2 would have been much nicer.
Great position in midhurst , decor is so right! Lively atmosphere .
