Ideal situation to Hereford, very nice restaurant with excellent food.Staff very friendly. Large car park.
Very polite and welcoming reception, nice back yard view on the field and great terrace
On Tuesday there was an unpleasant odour of cat food in my room near the window and outside on the parking space. Breakfast buffet is bit modest, limited just to flakes, yoghurt and toast with jam - wish they had more fruits.
Beautiful views and great food. Very friendly and helpful staff
Decor was a little tired but this didn’t worry us…
Did not eat breakfast-Location is stunning.

The hotel was very clean and the staff were very pleasant and caring.The.food menu was varied and exceptional in taste and presentation.. The bedroom was large and airy with all the facilities and stunning views.I will definitely be returning to this hotel and I can fully recommend it.
The staff were friendly and helpful and the penthouse was absolutely fabulous The views are gorgeous
Nothing, I couldn’t fault our stay here
Scenic and good staff
Not enough food options nearby
The location was perfect for our visit to Hereford. We had the garden suite which was fabulous, large room, modernised with amazing views, patio and garden furniture. A lovely hotel with period features. All the staff were very friendly and helpful from reception, to bar staff and restaurant. Food quality was excellent for evening meals and breakfast, and prices for food and drinks were reasonable for a hotel. Good choice of evening menu. Would recommend a stay at this hotel and would definitely book again.
Only a couple of small points, even though the prices of food were reasonable, the additional costs of items such as the naan bread with the curry and the egg and pineapple with the bacon steaks could be avoided. Carpets such as the breakfast room in need of upgrade, but this could well be in future planning, as they do have plans to convert other ground floor rooms to garden suites.
Everything good. Great views and friendly. Were especially interested in the association with Violette Szabo . Hope to return shortly.
We have stayed here several times now over the last 2 years. This a great venue for eating drinking or overnight stays. Excellent deals, bed and breakfast and or evening meal included. There is a variety of rooms, all are well equipped and clean and very comfortable. The staff here and lovely and very welcoming. Food is lovely and there is a great wine menu. We love staying here, ands having lived in Monmouth for several years we frequented for evening meals and the murder mystery nights. Excellent value for a fabulous well run independent hotel.
Last minute booking direct with hotel. Friendly and really helpful. Room great. Very accommodating with food intolerance. Plenty of free parking. Grounds and surroundings beautiful.
Excellent hotel in a perfect location. Stunning countryside views. Staff were exceptionally welcoming

Excellent staff, delicious food, very clean, wanted for nothing.
Decor is a bit dated but staff and food makes up for that.
Had our 3yo granddaughter with us; support from the hotel was excellent.
Great hotel, restaurant and bar, not the latest interior in rooms but everything you need and bed was very comfortable. Also good location to explore and loads of free parking
Old
Noisy floor boards in room above
Staff were all lovely, food was great.
Very friendly and helpful staff on the front desk. And a complimentary night cap was an unexpected bonus
Nothing to dislike
Nice garden room
Restaurant and bar very tired. No soundproofing in the ceiling so heard every footstep in room above
Beautiful location with stunning views, superb food in the restaurant at very reasonable prices, quiet, comfortable and spacious family room at extremely reasonable price as my son stated for free! We will definitely be back 😄
Nothing bad to report. Really lovely stay. If I was going to be picky the only thing I noticed was the size of the towels which were fine for me but anyone larger than 5ft might have struggled.
Nice staff, wonderful views
A wee bit shabby
The location, comfort of the bed and the helpfullness of staff
Non-applicable
Zeer vriendelijk personeel lekker eten mooi uitzicht aan de achterzijde grote parking
Bij het ontbijt was het spek en worst te droog en te taai kwam toch wel vers uit de keuken
A good car park out front. Friendly staff. A spacious room. Pleasing outlook from the rear of the hotel.
Decor a bit of a mixture of styles - predominantly 70's/80's wood veneer. Sanitary fittings tired and in need of an update. Lighting a bit on the dim side. Bathroom mobility aids (in an upstairs room accessed by staircase) somewhat intrusive.
Staff were friendly and supportive .they reached out to ensure if we need diner we didnt miss it. the rooms were beautful and penthouse was amazing
nothing
Nice setting with pleasant views from the bar and restaurant balcony. Staff were attentive and professional. Would stay again.
Nothing.
Great hotel for exploring Herefordshire and was perfect for our wedding access to Dewsall Court.

Tasteful large room
Winter duvet in 30 degree heat!
The Pilgrim Hotel has a big (dusty) gravelled car park which was ideal. Reception was efficient but no offer of help with the luggage - there was no lift. The room was very spacious, clean and very 1970's. The bathroom had a Triton shower and a plastic shower curtain. It worked. No mixer taps on the bath or sink. Electric sockets were available but extension leads were in evidence. Not a good look. Room only at £114. No breakfast. Violette Szabo room with information. Very good. There is a lovely restaurant terrace with wide-ranging views and I enjoyed a pint of Butty Bach. The restaurant had a fair choice of options with curry being the signature highlight apparently. I opted for the pork belly. Very disappointing. There was a thick layer of white gooey fat that had not been rendered. What was left was not a lot! Not good. I mentioned it to the waitress who said she would pass it on to the chef. On reflection she should have mentioned it to the restaurant manager. This hotel would be brilliant if some investment was made to bring it into the 21st century. Nevertheless it was a convenient stopover heading towards Newport. I can't see it ever changing
Very well located. Friendly and helpful staff at reception and bar. Room lovely and clean
View was amazing. Lovely chilled vibe. Food ace .
This is a lovely property which feels very secluded despite being close to main roads. The rooms are lovely and quirky, very comfortable and the staff are exceptional - nothing was too much trouble. Great breakfast too, and good dinner menu of sensibly priced locally sourced produce.
That I couldn’t stay longer!
Staff were amazing, nothing was too much trouble. Loved the evening menu. Relaxed atmosphere, would highly recommend. Big shout to Trevor, Lisa and the bar tender in the evenings
Fabulous views, home away from home!
Other guests woke us up slamming doors but that wasn’t the hotel…you can’t choose your guests.
Lovely big apartment suite, great views and restaurant outdoor area.

We didn't have the breakfasts, but enjoyed two evening meals, they were excellent (the Hereford beef steaks especially). The views are spectacular and there were three areas to eat - inside, in the conservatory or out on the decking.
Not a great deal, but the bedrooms and bathrooms are dated. They were clean and the bath had an electric shower over.
breakfast was ok, location perfect, nice hotel, room good
there was nothing i didnt like, lovely hotel
Very comfortable and beautiful location.
Nothing
Rustig. Degelijk ontbijt ook.
Lovely view! Lovely receptionist. 10/10
There were mugs, teaspoons and kettle but no tea or coffee provided.
Staff unfriendly and very unhelpful at check in.
Staff attitude
An excellent relaxed informal hotel. We were visiting friends so could mix and match our visit.
Friendliness, flexibility, very comfortable bed, good hospitality, location, quiet.
Beautiful location, pork belly dinner was excellent, crab salad not so much...I think it was tinned crab
Food was amazing. Second time we have stayed and it was every bit as good as the first time. Staff are also excellent, friendly and helpful
Our room could do with a bit of a refresh but it was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed so it wasn’t a problem.
Our room was large and clean with a view over the fields at the back. Comfortable bed and tea/coffee making items provided. Also plenty of parking. We ate in the restaurant and the food was very good, staff lovely.
The bathroom was a little tired.
During our week's stay in the area, we went to the restaurant at this hotel twice. Good selection on the menu and the food was lovely featuring local produce. Pretty views from conservatory and friendly staff
Staff were very friendly. Excellent service. Fabulous breakast and stunning views.
No plug or chraging point by bed in one of the rooms.
Good selection for dietary needs gluten free items, vegan etc
Limit on gluten free toast. Regular toast had no limit
The food was very very good and certainly good value for money.
Perhaps not their fault but I was quite cold the first and second night. The week before my stay had been sweltering so perhaps they turned the boiler off. Then the weather got quite cold, and so I was cold in the night. The third night they told me to turn up the radiators, which I did, although I don't think the one in the bathroom was working (I forgot to tell them that.)
Breakfast very good..but I only slept and had B?F..
Good location, countryside setting. Clean accommodation.
It’s a little dated could do with a refresh.
The food was good, the choice at breakfast was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable. Plenty of parking spaces too.
The pillows in our room were very uncomfortable, leading to poor sleep on both nights. Overall, the room was good and had everything you may need.
Location
It was ordinary
It is set in such a beautiful place in a lovely old building we will definitely come back. Everything was very nice except you could hear footsteps in the room above, and the mattress was hard. The sausage and bacon in the cooked breakfast option were real farmers old fashioned food (not wet soggy supermarket stuff) Other clientele were so pleased with the place too it was a happy experience
Mattresses
Had a wonderful time at the pilgrim hotel this weekend. The staff were fantastic. Claire especially on reception and behind the bar was incredibly friendly and helpful. We dined one evening and the steak was fantastic. One of the best I have had. The stay was well above what I expected.
Exceptionally helpful and friendly staff. Beautiful views.
Large comfortable rooms, good bar and restaurant.
Just starting to look a little dated.
Everything about the hotel was fantastic. In particular, my room was amazing (room 3).
Nothing, we all loved it.
Only 3 stars but would highly recommend easy for hereford, Ross, leominster. Room was spacious bathroom great.nice privacy on patio.staff very helpful cooked breakfast nice and freshly cooked.also good Sunday lunch.
Nothing to dislike.
Spaces, very clean
Warning to people who are gluten free and unable to eat cereals for breakfast you may be charged an extra £6 for a bowl of porridge
Wet evening in May, called in on spec for a meal. Staff on the ball, and menu choices very good. Food was excellent with brilliant service. Will call again when in the area.
I did not have the breakfast but the family did and was pleased with it!
The staff were very friendly our garden suite was livrly
Breakfast wasn’t included
Big plus, open all day for food. Easy parking and a warm welcome. Fantastic views from the dining conservatory. Extensive menu . Chicken schnitzel, grilled chicken, lasagne, and burger, all rated excellent. Spoilt for choice. A fascinating feature on arrival was a room dedicated to Violette Zsabo, awarded the GC for bravery. A small museum is close by which we aim to include on a return visit.
The location, setup, rooms, facilities and restaurant were absolutely excellent. The staff were all amazing and couldn’t do enough for us. Such a wonderful hotel and I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to recommend the Pilgrim to anyone. The provision for people with dietary requirements was also fantastic - one of our party is coeliac, and she was amazed that she had so much great choice on the menu both at dinner, and breakfast the next day!
Nothing - couldn’t fault a thing.
I stayed with my Mum before and after a wedding at Dewsall Court. This hotel is in the perfect location - less than 10 minutes drive away, and with recommendations for local taxis to book if needed. Mum has mobility problems, and the provision for her room was fantastic - great communication beforehand to make sure she had an accessible room, loads of space in her bedroom to comfortably move around, and a really well equipped bathroom that meant she didn’t need to worry about accessibility. She couldn’t speak highly enough of how comfortable her stay was (and mine too, in my really gorgeous room). Both of us have said it was the most comfortable night’s sleep we’ve had in a really long time! Breakfast was delicious, and the whole team couldn’t do enough for us. We’ll be back!
Everything was amazing!
Staff were really friendly at check in and check out. The location was great on a main road and not noisy at all.
The rooms need serious updating. We stayed in a ‘deluxe’ king room and it was definitely not worth the £100 a night we paid. The bathroom especially was very old and grubby. Poor water pressure electric shower over a bath with a curtain and black mould on the tiles. The toilet flush button was cracked, the floor was very creaky and the door and bin both looked in need of a good clean. The door and lock to the room didn’t feel secure at all, there was a big gap at the bottom giving zero sound proofing to the hallway. The walls were also thin to the point you could hear the tvs and other guests snoring either side and the creaky floor boards made us feel like we had to be careful every time we walked around so not to disturb the rooms below. (The ONLY free plug socket was at ground level on the opposite side of the bed which was very inconvenient for charging phones) Overall no feeling of privacy at all and definitely not worth the price we paid.
While I appreciate the hotel’s response to my complaint, I feel there’s no alternative now but to share my experience for other guests to see before they book this hotel. Yes there was a storm and the weather was poor leading to power interruptions, but that does not excuse the way the situation was handled. I was left in a very cold room, and despite being provided with portable heaters, the conditions remained uncomfortable. More importantly, what has not been addressed at all is that I was effectively told I could leave the hotel during the night, in severe weather, at the age of 71. This was extremely distressing and, in my view, unacceptable. I did not feel cared for or supported as a guest. Regardless of external circumstances, a hotel has a duty of care to ensure guests feel safe and are treated with respect. I hope the management reflects not just on the technical issues that evening, but on how situations like this are handled, particularly when dealing with older guests. Unfortunately, this experience has left me unable to recommend the hotel and we will no longer visiting for meals there like we used to.
Lady in reception was exceptionally good
Gym
Food. Excellent and good value
The staff were so friendly, the food is amazing and the whole place has a nice feel to it for a solo female traveller
Nothing
Bed was comfortable. Very warm, glad they provided a fan.
Not a very nice welcoming smell to the room, shower was dreadful for an expensive room I would have expected more. Black mould in the bathroom.
We attended a family meal last week as relatives were visiting from Australia. The Pilgrim seemed like the perfect venue and setting and it was indeed! All the team made us feel very welcome and we all had a fantastic time, the food was served on time and was very tasty indeed. There were some awkward dietary requirements to deal with and the team far surpassed the level of care and attention expected and were very professional and informative on the ingredients used in each dish served. Once we had finished our food in the separate function room which sat 40 of us very comfortably, we retired to the patio area for drinks as it was a glorious day and wow what a view. A perfect end to a perfect day. Thank you and we will see you very soon.
Lovely friendly staff Clean and comfortable Delicious food Location and scenery beautiful
Nothing we go every year
Really comfortable bed and good curtains blocking out all the sun. And a very nice selection of tea and coffee in the room.
We liked everything about the Pilgrim from the moment we walked in!! All the staff from reception to bar staff to restaurant staff were welcoming and helpful. The food was excellent in the dining room - good choices and well presented
NOTHING!!
Excellent food lovely room lovely location easy to get to lovely staff and an enjoyable comfortable stay. Hotel easy to find and great location.
Everything was great very comfortable and enjoyable stay
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The location is lovely, surrounded by beautiful countryside and peaceful scenery. Our room was very spacious, with a comfortable double bed and a single bed, perfect for our family of three. Everything was spotlessly clean, and the hotel was very quiet, which made for a great night’s sleep. The beds were extremely comfortable. Overall, a fantastic stay and we would happily return.
I like the pilgrim hotel, but dont buy an offer voucher there, an outside company runs this apparantly... and you have zero chance of making your reservation for a room or a meal , without an aweful lot of bother , phone calls and justv arghh !
Very Expensive for drinks no atmosphere ordinary service why would I like to take anyone there .Bar staff are ok but that’s about all .
Lovely little hotel, great views. Nice food.
The walls and ceilings are paper thin and constantly heard people above us and next to us. Not much around in the area. Bar was expensive.
Staff friendly and bed very comfortable and good value for money
Great location. Coffee was weak. Staff friendly and helpful.
Bathroom needs upgrading
Good location for where I needed to be
No heating Food wasn’t great Very tired and run down
Decent hotel in the countryside with big rooms and a good breakfast. We were thankful for the heating as it was freezing outside. Great place to stay if you are visiting the meditation centre.
The shower could have had more power, but we stayed for only one day, so it was fine. The room ceiling had a patch of water damage but nothing that bothered us too much.
Great location, good breakfast although it was an additional charge. Comfortable bed. Room was nice and warm.
For a superior room, there was no proper wardrobe, no iron, no mini fridge, no glasses for a drink. There were 2 plastic glasses in the bathroom but one was dirty with toothpaste at the bottom. Bathroom light wirings were very dated, shower over the bath was an old model with no rainfall shower head. Very small bottles of shower gel, hardly enough for a good shower. Door to the room had a lot of paint chips and a very wobbly handle/lock. It was a cheap fire door possibly dating to the 70s. Surprised there were no offers available at this hotel as it was so quiet. Also we were advised that the bar would close by 9.30pm on a Saturday evening.
Lovely pics on the wall
Very friendly. Warm and comfortable. Lots of history.. Good food.
The way Booking.com tried to cancel my booking without my knowledge. !!!!! If it I had not rung the hotel to change arrival time I wouldn't have had place to stay. Not impressed with Booking.com about this !!!???
