This hotel is noted as a 3-star hotel on google maps, I'd be happy to call this a 4-star. Although lacking in additional amenities like pool and a larger lobby, the unique industrial theming is well done throughout the lobby, dinning and rooms. Staff was friendly and the breakfast buffet was nice too with a mix of local cuisine and western. They did have ample free parking though, which was good.

Major downfall would be the location, which felt a bit far away from major touristy things, even with a private car.

I like the overall amenities. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast feels like a bit repetitive. Maybe the choice of deserts could be change..

I really enjoyed staying at this property. The place was clean, comfortable, and well-maintaned. The location was convenient and made it easy to get around. I also liked the peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, which made the stay very comfortable. Overal, the property was a great place to stay, and I would definitely come back again.

I had a pleasant stay at this hotel. The room was spacious, clean, and well maintained. The bed was very comfortable, making it easy to get a good night's sleep. I especially loved the mini bar section, which included a Bonmatic Mini Capsule Coffee machine—a nice touch for coffee lovers. The room was also equipped with thoughtful amenities such as an iron and ironing facilities, a small refrigerator, and complimentary mineral water, making the stay even more convenient. Overall, a comfortable and enjoyable stay. I would definitely consider staying here again.

Had a fantastic stay. Love the rustic concept and vibes. Love the view from the top floor sky lounge and love the ground restaurant and café. The price per head for buffet is offerer at an extremely great deal and price point. The gym could use more dumbell options and perhaps some fans for better ventilation. Also, it's too bad that the sky lounge is no longer as active as before. It now serves as an event space only. Would love to see it become an active spot for guests to hang out again. Aside from that, the overall experience staying there was fantastic. Great value for money. The only major downside is the location. Although there are several eateries, amenities and shops nearby, it's still located further away from KK city. But still, great establishment. Well done 👍

Le petit déjeuner est vraiment bas de gamme...peu de choix et pas qualitatif. La salle de sport n est pas climatisée. Loin du bord de mer, environ 25 minutes en grab.

Unexpected upgrade to suite

I noticed that the bed provided has small wheels, similar to a hospital bed. While the mattress is very soft and comfortable, I feel a bit uncomfortable whenever the bed moves whenever I move...😬

I am not sure if these amenities are included in the room price, but during my one-night stay, my room was not provided with a toothbrush and toothpaste, unlike other hotels I have visited before.

We recently stayed at IBIS Styles KK under the most heartbreaking circumstances—following the sudden passing of my brother at Kota Kinabalu Hospital. What was meant to be a sad and stressful journey, bringing his ashes back to Singapore, was made infinitely more bearable thanks to the extraordinary kindness of the hotel staff, especially to Ms. Natalia. From the moment we arrived, the team went above and beyond. Without us even asking, they offered a complimentary stay and transportation support. Ms. Natalia checked in on us regularly with warm calls and messages, genuinely asking if there was anything we needed. When we had questions, she provided professional and compassionate guidance. One gesture that truly touched our hearts: knowing we had an early flight back to Sin, they arranged the packed breakfast for our entire family before we left. In a time of deep grief, this hotel showed us what true service and humanity look like. We will never forget your kindness. Thank you.

The hotel is strategic, easily accessible and is surrounded with many shops nearby. However, if you wish to go to the mall, you might need e-hailing services.

I may sound like a typical Gen-z here but the TV channels were not interesting to me. There were no YouTube nor Netflix lmao but that's just my own preference.

Stayed for 2 nights and the experience was disappointing from the start. During check-in, the staff were not friendly and one of them was even sitting with their leg on the chair while serving us, which looked very unprofessional. When I asked for nearby recommendations, the only response I got was “disini bukan macam KK, KK banyak lagi tempat mau jalan,” instead of actually trying to suggest something interesting nearby or promoting Inanam as one of the main attraction in Sabah. My mom also mentioned that the corridor was quite dark, but the staff responded that it is “scarier to look at the electricity bills,” which honestly felt inappropriate coming from hoteliers instead of thinking about guest comfort and experience. The gym was too hot to comfortably work out in, and the breakfast menu was exactly the same throughout our 2-night stay. To make matters worse, our door lock became detached while we were out of the hotel, though it was fixed on the same day after we complained. Overall, there is definitely room for improvement in both service and professionalism.

Have many restaurants and shop around there, and the bed have upper body matter feel good 👍🏻

The environment and the food

The corridor to my room in 11th floor is too dim...

The accommodation fee is affordable, considering inflation around the world. It is located in a very convenient area. There are 99 Speedmart and 7‑Eleven, both of which are convenience stores, near the hotel.

One of the issues I faced was that the ironing board is made of synthetic fiber, which is not resistant to the high temperatures of the iron. Please confirm that we will be charged 100 MYR as compensation if we accidentally damage it. In addition, sounds from the room can easily be heard from outside.

The beds were comfortable and rooms were reasonably sized.

The breakfast was quite poor with lots of highly processed items (bread, pre-packaged waffles, chicken nuggets, etc.). Amenities were not well-managed. Shower gel bottles were empty and toilet paper was not topped up. The bigger concern was that we had to leave early, meaning that we did not use our final night stay. I asked the reception staff if we could have a refund for this night and was flatly told 'no' as we had booked with booking.com. When I contacted booking.com they told me the opposite - they would be willing to issue a refund but the hotel had refused. They reached out to the hotel to start the process, however, this was then followed by over a month of back and forth correspondence, with the hotel repeatedly delaying the matter on the basis that we had paid for the stay using contactless cards. In the end, I had to log a complaint with booking.com, who issued a refund in full. The attitude of the reception staff was deeply disappointing. We did not want to cut our trip short and it's a shame that they showed such little compassion.

For the price paid for two nights you cant complain much. The room was comfy and pretty much straight forward.

First impression was not good. No water supply to the toilet seat, mini fridge wasnt getting cold and the safe box wasnt working. Eventually we got transferred to another room right away and the staff was ever so polite and warm.

Clean room. Breakfast was tasty with a nice variety. The selection wasn’t overwhelming, so it was easy to choose what we wanted.

Had been staying Ibis Styles many times. Room still been kept decently clean and comfortable despite the overall appearance looks dated. Good parking space.

Was planning a hike to Mt. Kinabalu and my friend selected this hotel as it was close to the train station. I am an Accor Diamond and I have quite honestly not stayed at Ibis hotels. I thought they were quite low quality brand offerings. I have to say I was completely surprised. This hotel is beatiful. I booked an upgraded room and the suite was very well appointed with a comfortable bed. I left very impressed with the bteakfast, the hotel amenities and ambience. Only issue is the location. It is close to the train station as we were going to Mt. Kinabalu but there are just quite local offerings around the area - Kopitiam's, local mamaks and the like. I did catch a Zus and KFC nearby though. I prefer to stay in the city centre but this was a good hotel given we were going onwards to Kundasang and Mt. Kinabalu.
