Location is perfect, from the terrace, where you breakfast, you see the entire panorama of the city and the valley below. At night the city lights come on slowly until the entire city is illuminated. It is truly magical. Breakfast is excellent and the staff amazing.

Parking is always to be considered in these small towns but the Belvedere is very well organized for it.

Alles war toll, vor allem die wunderbaren Mitarbeiter - ganz besonders Simone - und die fantastische Lage. Auch das Frühstück war toll und dass man höflichen housekeeping service erhält. Wir würden jederzeit wieder kommen - aber in anderer Zimmer Kategorie.

Das Matratzen Molton ist wasserdicht und ist dadurch nicht geräuschlos. Auch das Bett unseres Zimmers #46 war nicht ganz vertrauensvoll- eher ein günstiges Metallgestell. Am wenigsten schön war der Lärm ab spätestens 7 Uhr morgens. Unser Zimmer lag unter der Frühstücks-Terrasse und jedes Stuhl Rücken ist so laut zu hören, als würde es im eigenen Zimmer passieren. Wer kein Frühaufsteher ist, sollte also ein anderes Zimmer buchen ;)

This hotel is special. I cant imagine having a better view of the city. Watching the sunset go down over Matera and seeing the city light up was truly magical and a highlight of the trip. The hotel has access to a back walk way that leads right to the rock churches and attractions of the city. The hotel staff is super friendly and helpful. The rooms are beautiful.

Some wasps outside at breakfast was really the only thing I could think of but thats not the hotels fault its just the time of the year. This is a perfect hotel to stay at in Matera! I cant imagine it being better.

Fantastic location on the edge is the Sassi enabling taxi access with magnificent views over the Sassi and gorge from the breakfast and aperitifs terrace. Excellent customer service provided by friendly staff. Highly recommend this hotel.

The view was magnificent, and the staff even better. Service is outstanding and the cave room was spacious and cozy. We slept great. Breakfast had lots of options and with a gorgeous view.

Zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel. Fantastische locatie in Matera. Loopafstand van het historisch centrum. Aanbevolen: een gids voor rondwandeling te nemen (GetYourGuide?) Hele mooie grote tweepersoons kamer met uitstekend kingsize bed. Zeer service gericht, kwalitatief en uitgebreid ontbijt.

Het hotel ligt in een Zona Traffico Limitato, ZTL van 20:30 -24:00 uur. Je kan je koffer wel afgeven maar niet in het tijdvak van de LTZ tenzij je een ontheffing hebt geregeld. Parkeren voor overnachten moet je dus buiten deze zone doen. Op 10-15 min. loopafstand is gratis te parkeren.

Wonderful stay at Il Belvedere. Perfectc location with a superb view of Matera. Our room was very spacious and immaculately clean. Delicious breakfasts each morning. Our gentlemen hosts were all lovely, nothing was a problem. Davide took extra time explaining the intriguing history of the city to us over breakfast. We would definitely recommend Il Belvedere to fellow travellers.

The location was perfect, the view was spectacular and the staff were lovely and helpful. It had so much character, the rooms have an old world charm and the beds were very comfy, also breakfast was fabulous. Very easy parking, great communication. I would definitely come back.

Per il soggiorno a Matera di due giorni (sufficienti per visitare la città se non si vuole anche andare nel parco attorno) abbiamo deciso di soggiornare in questo hotel per la sua posizione ottima sul confine della zona dei sassi che ti consente di non incappare nelle stradine della zona dei sassi e della ZTL ma di avere un ottimo punto di partenza per visitare la città. La stanza pulita e confortevole era ricavata nella roccia ma nonostante ciò la dimensione era adeguata. Lo staff eccezionale e disponibile soprattutto appena arrivati ci è stato fatto un briefing sulla città e sul come visitarla. Hotel è dotato di una terrazza per fare la colazione con vista diretta sulla zona dei sassi che sia di giorno che di notte ti lascia incantato. La colazione veramente ottima sia dolce che salato. Chicca del hotel avere un cancello posteriore che ti porta direttamente sulle vie della zona dei sassi appena esci dalla stanza.

I loved this place, it is amazing. So friendly. My friend who stayed elsewhere was able to join for breakfast, which by the way is fabulous. The view of the old city is perfect from here. It is really a hidden gem.

Chambre individuelle n° 45 creusée dans la roche (la climatisation devient superflue) ; personnel très accueillant et de bon conseil ; excellent petit-déjeuner (avec le pain de Matera qui est excellent) ; prix très modéré compte tenu des prestations ; parking public situé à une centaine de mètres dans la même rue... Que demander de plus ?

We absolutely loved our stay at Matera Il Belvedere. The location is amazing—right in the heart of Matera and perfectly placed for exploring everything on foot. The views are absolutely stunning, and waking up to that scenery was a real highlight of our stay. The breakfast was fantastic, with plenty of choice, and the staff were so friendly, welcoming and helpful throughout our visit. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Matera. My only advice is to stay for two nights, not one like we did—you’ll wish you had longer!

Im Zimmer roch es etwas nach Keller und Feuchtigkeit. Ist wahrscheinlich dem geschuldet, dass das Haus/die Zimmer in den Felsen gebaut wurden.

Exceptional view. Even better in person than the photos. We took our own wine and they gave us ice and a bucket. Staff were honestly incredible. Room was clean and lovely. Breakfast was really nice and had sweet and savoury options. Highly recommend staying here.

Lokacija hotela in razgled iz terase sta fenomenalna, na terasi lahko tudi zajtrkujete ali spijete kakšno pijačko. Od hotela je kratek sprehod do samega centra, ki ga spremljajo krasni razgledi. Soba sicer ni nič posebnega, ampak je bila prostorna in čista.

Excelente localização e staff muito cordial. A vista dos sassi é realmente incrível. No dia da nossa chegada, o recepcionista nos indicou com precisão onde estacionar, além de nos permitir a entrada no quarto antes do horário do check-in.

The breathing view and the exciting experience of staying in a cave room.

Despite being in a cave, they need to upgrade their beds. The mattresses are slim and you can feel the wood underneath. Mattresses were also wet the entire night. They only provide one low pillow each, which is not great. Overall, we all had a terrible night.

The location is magical, it felt like the ultimate Matera experience. When we arrived Davide was so accommodating and proud to show off his city, the magic began straight away. Lovely breakfast, amazing to have breakfast and aperitivo there.

Wow. We loved everything about the property and will definitely be back. A ten minute walk from the centre but close enough to have an amazing view of Matera and everything to explore.

Staff was friendly and providing excellent recommendations to explore the old city and to eat. Location was near town center but on a quiet street and has excellent views.

This is a special hotel, situated in an ideal location to view and access this special city. David and his colleagues are amazingly helpful and kind and my family felt very welcome at the hotel. It is great for those who are travelling by car as you can drop your bags at the door and park in a nearby car park. The terrace is amazing with panoramic views of the city and historic sassi. The room we had was comfortable and good value. Breakfast had plenty of options and the coffee was particularly good.

From the moment we arrived, we knew we'd chosen the right place. Davide welcomed us with genuine warmth, invited us straight onto the beautiful terrace with a drink, and spent time showing us a map of Matera. Rather than simply recommending a paid tour, he explained exactly how he would explore the city himself, pointing out the best walking route, the must-see sights, and which restaurants offered authentic food without the inflated tourist prices. He also showed us where to park our car for free and gave us clear directions, making everything completely stress-free. While we were parking, he even managed to have our room prepared early so we could check in ahead of time, which was a lovely surprise. Later that evening, we enjoyed another glass of wine on the terrace overlooking the stunning Sassi – the perfect way to start our stay. The following morning, the gentleman on reception was equally friendly and welcoming. We also discovered he'd written his own book, which is proudly displayed in reception, a really nice personal touch. The service here is exceptional and the hospitality is genuine. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and would highly recommend Il Belvedere to anyone visiting Matera. Five stars.

Il Belvedere divided opinions within our family. Some of us found the experience very enjoyable and felt that the room successfully created the atmosphere of staying inside a cave. Others considered it less authentic and somewhat artificial. There are, however, several undeniable strengths. The hotel is easy to access by car, with convenient parking and a location that allows guests to load and unload luggage without difficulty. The terrace is absolutely beautiful, offering a panoramic view of the most picturesque part of the Sassi and an unforgettable sunrise. The staff were also consistently kind and welcoming. The main area for improvement is breakfast. It was extremely simple, with very few options. When the weather makes it uncomfortable to eat on the terrace, the indoor breakfast room is small and has rather uncomfortable furniture. Would we return? Perhaps. The location, terrace and views are excellent, but the overall experience may depend greatly on each guest’s expectations of an authentic cave hotel.

Die Lage dieses Hotels ist traumhaft, der Blick von der Terrasse ist unbezahlbar. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Positiv zu erwähnen ist , dass es beim Frühstück sehr schmackhafte regionale Spezialisten gab. Klimaanlage und kleiner Kühlschrank waren vorhanden. Im Zimmer steht ein Wasserkocher zur Verfügung.

Parken vor dem Hotel ist nicht möglich. Ca. 3 Gehminuten entfernt kann man ein Parkhaus nutzen (1 € / Stunde oder Tagessatz 10 € gilt von 00:00 Uhr bis 24:00 Uhr)

Estadia perfeita, a localização foi sensacional, quarto confortável e ótimo café da manhã. Deixamos o carro em estacionamento muito proximo e fizemos Matera toda a pé. Tudo fantástico

Well lets start with the view!! Amazing and a lovely surprise as at first I was worried we hadn't booked a place far enough in to the centre to appreciate the view. Yes it was a little walk in but we loved the walk to the restaurants and the main action! The hotel itself wasn't particularly modern or glamorous but did have character. Perfect for a one night stay.

Breakfast was quite limited but the view on the terrace makes up for it! Would have preferred 2 rooms closer together as we had to have several sets of keys to get in and out of the property. Not a major issue though! There was an interesting smell in our room, a musty smell but assuming being a cave room it might be normal. The room was actually decked out really nicely with a lovely shower and vanity area.

Vistas increíbles, dispone de una tranquila terraza donde se sirve el desayuno y donde se puede estar en cualquier momento del día. Me encantó poder relajarme con esas vistas cada noche. Mi habitación era la individual, con cama pequeña pero cómoda y con todo lo necesario. Era cómoda.

Las almohadas. Como sugerencia, pondría un gancho en la pared del baño junto a la puerta para poder colgar la toalla grande de ducha.

Lugar inmejorable si visitás Matera, llegas con el auto hasta la puerta del hotel, tenes parking a 200 metros para dejar el auto y salis de la habitación y tenes unas vistas increibles, desayunas con vistas a Matera.

The property was as advertised. The views from back terrace were amazing. The breakfast was very good, many options and delicious. The staff was exceptional (friendly and very helpful). There is a parking garage only a shot distance, which I found convenient and reasonable (10€ a day).

We ate dinner at the Soul Kitchen restaurant (very close to the hotel), which was recommended to us at the hotel. The food was very good and locally sourced. I highly recommend it.
