Room and terrace were fabulous, need to find out what the bedding was, forgot to look or ask but I need to get some! Location was perfect for exploring the city. Breakfast was brilliant. Parking right outside the room was a bonus.
Breakfast could have been a little later for me but was well worth the effort!
Very nice b&b- but the single room is a very small attic room- and even an average height person may feel restricted by the ceiling height. Staff great and breakfast superb.
Room size
Beautiful place, room was large and well furnished, staff were great and really helpful
Bed was very uncomfortable, only reason I am giving less than excellent
Gorgeous boutique hotel right in the heart of Lichfield. Such welcoming, friendly yet professional staff. I stayed in the Holmes room which is very compact, but the limited space is used very effectively with everything one needs, including an excellent fan on a very hot night. The breakfast was one of the best I've ever had...perfectly cooked and beautifully presented in an elegant dining room. Thank you to Sandra the chef and Imogen who served me, and to James on reception for his great welcome. I was only there for one night, but would love an excuse to stay there again!
Absolutely nothing.
Characterful, good breakfast with a big choice served at our table, not the usual lukewarm buffet. Good location, comfortable room.
Lounge shut in evening when we returned at 9.00pm.
Location, rooms, staff and breakfast all excellent
Shame no bar or evening restaurant, given the rest was so good, have no doubt would be too. But it is classed as a B&B so doesn't effect my rating
The whole stay was very good Just a mention for the young lady who served breakfast every morning . thank you and excellent work
We stayed in the St johns Accommodation with a very lovely bathroom and bath it would be good if some luxury bath accompaniment could be provided. i/e bath salts , bubbles Towels i am sure some guest like to have clean towels every day but i think you could give the option i/e leave on floor if required clean hang up if not required to change ( save the planet and a little cost ) very minor niggle The breakfast room was very hot and stuffy could have done with the door being opened or something.
Excellent breakfast, as good as anywhere, nice breakfast staff
Poor check in procedure. Room was not suitable for anyone not of a diminutive size. Bed not long enough for me ( 6'02")
The welcome upon our arrival at the time for our stay. Very warm and welcoming. Made to feel very welcome indeed, the room was prefect. Really comfy bed, all the facilities we expected and so close to the centre of town but so quiet top, the best of both worlds. Had a lovely cooked breakfast before we left in the morning too, amazing, thank you.
Couldn't really fault a thing during our stay
Excellent location for sightseeing, railway, & bus station. The breakfast was of good quality and choice & in a tasteful setting.
Clean and early to book in and drop bags off
Nothing
Fantastic location and excellent parking. Breakfast was very good
quirkiness
we werent advised that a wedding was taking place so we werent allowed to use the bar
Very clean, great breakfast with lots of choice for everyone All staff I came across were very welcoming and friendly ! Stayed in the terrace room in the stables wonderful room with the added touch of a lovely outdoor area, would have loved to stay longer but just passing through. Would definitely recommend !
Beautiful room in the stables. Friendly and helpful staff. Good location.
Breakfast was very slow!
The terrace room was gorgeous. So nice sitting outside in the garden with the wonderful smell of roses. Breakfast was incredible. An excellent choice on the menu. Beautifully cooked and very tasty.
This is a great boutique B&B in the city centre within easy walking distance of the cathedral and public gardens. The staff were lovely and the facilities were excellent, including a coffee machine and fresh milk in a small fridge. The bathroom was very clean and had nice, thick towels. The breakfast was delicious and I would definitely stay again if in the area.
This room was in the eves of the building and there was an advisory for anyone over 6'. I am only 5'2" and managed to bang my head a couple of times before learning my lesson! This wouldn't stop me from staying again, though.
Fantastic stay. There was so much attention paid to the details. Homemade cookies, fresh milk & a bottle of water in the fridge, nespresso maker for coffee, great section of teas, a fan as it was warm, plenty of parking, warm welcome from staff and a gorgeous breakfast. Would definitely return if I'm staying in the area.
Only one small inconvenience to mention. The TV seemed to be stuck on BBC1 & had to turn off at switch. Think the batteries in the remote were dead.
Lovely room, staff great, breakfast very good
We liked everything
Great location, very helpful and friendly staff
Very modern , clean , everything you need
Great location lovely building with really nice rooms. Super nice and helpful staff
No air con on the hottest night of the year
Ubicación muy buena, a dos pasos del centro. Desayuno, bien, bastante variado, con todo hecho al momento.
The old world charm, the spacious room
The worn staircases, the squeaky floors
Location is great, staff are both professional and friendly, the rooms are several cuts above anything else in Lichfield, and the breakfast was excellent.
Nothing I didn't like. I will return!
Staff welcoming and helpful; good location for exploring Lichfield, but a lack of trees and green space... Fresh milk in the fridge was certainly appreciated. Thank you. Breakfast was fresh and tasyt.
My room was in the attic of the stables block and sweltering hot. It has two small velux windows facing west and south- There was a much needed fan in the room, butthe insulation is clearly not great as th eroom was extremely stuffy and hot. It was dark if the blinds were down to keep out the heat - and small- with gable ends and beams in a small space. There wa s nowhere else inside the hotel to sit in the evening except quite hard chairs outside ona snall terrace - which was happily shaded.
Perfect spot lovely pervade patio.
Nothing
The location and the character stood out and the staff were very good .
Sadly the bath leaked and made the floor wet and slippery in the bedroom which was not ideal as the toilet lacked a hand basin so you had to go past the bath to get to the basin .
Lovely property with a nice garden
The room was upstairs and very hot. Although a fan wax provided it was very difficult to get comfortable.
Unique setting and nicely done. Extremely friendly and courteous and took time for the extras. Rather tucked away so its best to read the instructions carefully! Lovely little courtyard personal space for the room was sweet. Gardens and borders were beautiful (Early June)
Location, staff and facilities
Nothing
The central location, the free ample parking and the nice breakfast.
The single room is really only suitable for a shorter person.
Wonderful location with easy walk into town 5mins max. Spotlessly clean and comfy. On site parking free too. So,e many little touches to make your stay just wonderful. Breakfast amazing and staff so professional and nothing was too much trouble.
Shame no bar and only breakfast available but so many eating and drinking establishments just a few minutes walk away it wasn’t a deal breaker. Car park entrance a bit tight.
Lovely property, beautifully decorated
Nothing
Clean and beautiful rooms. Excellent breakfast. Free parking.
The stairs!
Everything
Friendly staff, lovely and comfortable room, great location
It was spotless and comfortable really cosy
Nothing
Instant hot water. Friendly staff. Good breakfast.
Just a personal thing. It was very hot at night. I like a cold bedroom.
Breakfast was excellent and staff were so nice
Nothing
Lovely period property. Nice rooms
Couldn’t use the bar/lounge area due to wedding…should have been informed about this in advance. Breakfast was average
The attention to detail that makes for a 1st class, comfortable stay. Spotlessly clean, fine bedding, good quality furnishings and a great breakfast are all there. The location is perfect for central Lichfield. Free parking for residents. Beautiful building.
Very comfortable and spacious rooms and excellent breakfast. Fabulous central location with on-site parking.
We stayed in one of the suites so the bedroom was large but dated , bathroom very nice though. Breakfast was good and the staff very friendly. Good location for the pubs and restaurants
Decorating very dated and worn carpets on the stairs
Well appointed room with all that is required ie. Kettle and coffee maker. Good walk in shower. Nice freshly cooked breakfast, served with a smile by waitress.
Nothing.
Stunning accommodation, well decorated and furnished, quiet room with comfortable bed well located close to bars restaurants and Lichfield attractions and served an excellent breakfast.
Nothing
Excellent as per our last stay. First class accommodation and very professional. Excellent breakfast
Driving through the entrance to car park is rather narrow and tight
The location, welcome, breakfast staff and general ambiance were all delightful. The stable block where I believe the majority of the rooms are, is tucked away at the back of this old coaching inn, so well away from what could be a busy and noisy road. It is an ideal, centrally-located place from where to visit Lichfield and to have the opportunity to start the day with a delicious, freshly cooked breakfast, excellently served. I would highly recommend a stay here.
My only reservation was the temperature of the room which remained unpleasantly hot on a reasonably cool May evening and night – with seemingly very few options for regulating the temperature. I appreciate the room, at the top of the building, might be difficult to keep cool, however unfortunately the heat did not suit me.
Very quiet and comfotable room in the old stables. The breakfasts are freshly cooked and very good indeed. Although located on a main road the hotel was very quiet.
The shower/ toilet is a bit on the small side but everything else was very good
Lovely room
We have stayed several times now. The accommodation is clean, comfortable, with individualised decor in each room. The staff are friendly and efficient. Breakfast is always very good. Thank you
Nothing
Lovely period property tastefully updated . Near town centre and lovely small gardens . We liked it that much after checking out we stayed another night in the stables . Lovely grand rooms
Nothing that I can think of .
Our room was lovely, well furnished and decorated, and very comfortable. Very conveniently located in centre of Lichfield. Great breakfast.
No negative issues at all.
The room provided was one of the very best that we've ever been given. Note during my employment I travelled extensively and stayed in very many hotels in that time.
Nothing
The room in The Stables was very well appointed. We had a fridge that had fresh milk and bottled water provided.
A ground floor room would have been better for us as there was a large beam running through the upstairs room and we are both relatively tall.
Gorgeous property in the heart of Lichfield with parking.
Everything was great. The cobblestone were a bit difficult with the wheelchair and there could have been an extra light in the courtyard when we returned later in the dark.
Authentic, clean
De aangename en smaakvolle inrichting

Great location for exploring Lichfield
Their IT system struggled to take payment and the receptionist made us feel it was our problem, even when both payment cards were refused..... something we knew to be incorrect. She insisted that we paid by bank transfer which had not been our intention. A 25 minute conversation with my c card provider proved it not to be our problem. The bathroom didn't have any hooks or methods to hang up towels, bath robes etc..
I like everything about this hotel, lovely cozy rooms, friendly and helpful staff and a great breakfast!
NA
Large room. Fresh milk in fridge. Comfy bed Great breakfast Lovely staff.
No hanging space in room Shower slippery. No non skid features or safety handle Door latches a bit vicious. Window catches challenging.
Comfortable spacious room. Excellent breakfast. Good location. Very near to town centre and train station. Highly recommend.
We stayed in the St. John room, and it more than exceeded our expectations. The room size is incredible, and the bathroom is amazing, nothing like we expected from the pictures. The complementary biscuits were delicious and a lovely touch! The lady who checked us in (fairly new) was delightful, friendly and made sure we had the correct daily biscuits. Breakfast was lovely, and the service was great.
The ceiling in the St. John room needs some attention. Looks like it's bowed. Other than that, not much to dislike about the stay and facilities overall.
Room felt sumptuous Breakfast was gorgeous
Location and style of building
Beautiful room with gorgeous, high quality furniture and furnishings. Very tastefully decorated. Everything thought of. All felt very luxurious. Great location, just a few mins walk into city centre.
Lovely hotel which was very conveniently located. The staff were very friendly indeed and extremely helpful.
My husband and I have stayed here several times. St John's never lets us down. It's a hidden gem of Lichfield
Nothing
The room was really beautiful and comfortable. Great shower. And breakfast in the morning was excellent. Book here for the convenience, stay for the food and service.
Nice building. Lots of history to it. Good location. Excellent breakfast and friendly staff
We were baffled by the bath/shower in the middle of the room. All very romantic for a couple but not for 2 friends who'd like to shower privately. Plus no shower curtain so water went everywhere unless u sat in the bath. Couldn't work coffee machine. Bar area seemed uninvting so we didn't venture in when we'd returned from our meal. Despite fancying a night cap. Beds were hard..pillows uncomfortable
Staff were excellent receptionist and waiter top class
Beautiful hotel. Great location.
Loved the location and design of this hotel. Staff were also very lovely.
Overall whilst claiming to be a boutique hotel, it’s looking a little tired and in need of TLC. I don’t know whether it was the location of our room but you could smell the kitchen cooking in the room. Which wasn’t pleasant and made all of our belongings smell too. That was our only negative though.
Good
Ceiling in the room looked like it was ready to collapse- added to the character though
Very welcoming and so convenient.
Nothing.
Lovely friendly staff
Unfortunately private event on and bar/ lounge not available to residents
Beautiful building right in the heart of the city. Very spacious room with every comfort considered. Bath House toiletries! It was hard to stay out of the shower! Definitely recommend
That we only got to stay 1 night!
I liked how pretty the designs were and how well kept it all was.
Well situated to walk into the centre of Lichfield. Characterful well developed property
Heating went off in the night and it was a bit chilly in the stable block
