Forte Kochi

Forte Kochi was a near perfect experience, from the exceptional staff to the property layout and amenities. The breakfast is exceptional, and the chef made sure to cater to special requests. Wish we could have stayed longer, but they were fully booked out!

Very minor nitpick, which is not in the hotel's control - since it's located on the street, there is some street noise in the rooms. The toilet floors can also get a bit wet after showers since water leaks through under the shower door. But otherwise can't be faulted at all.

the pool is open from 8am and every morning wile there, there was a family that were in the pool making a racket at 7.50am and no one told them to keep it down.

The hotel is beautiful and elegant, in an old colonial house. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. It’s located at the heart of Fort Kochi, so there’s a lot to see nearby.

One of the world’s best hotels!!! The staff is AMAZING! The rooms are fantastic, the pool is lovely. Don’t forget to have an Ayurvedic massage! The chef is extremely talented: I recommend alleppey fish curry, beef fry with coconut, and stew with appam. Again: the staff is extraordinarily friendly, kind, and caring. Their attention to detail, the way they take such care of the guests is unparalleled.

It was a wonderful trip. The front desk, housekeeping staff and the chefs were remarkably helpful. They made sure we felt comfortable at every step. The rooms are spacious and clean. The location of this hotel is the highlight, so much so that you find people clicking pictures outside this hotel. The amenities were good, and they were extremely careful about the safety and hygiene for the baby.

This is an exceptionally good hotel in the heart of Fort Kochi! The location itself in one of the most important streets of old Fort Kochi (the oldest part of town) is magnificient. Not only the beach/ seaside but also many other attractions of Fort Kochi (Vasco da Gama church etc.) are just a short walk away. The reception on our arrival - though we arrived actually early in the morning - was very friendly. The whole building has a carefully preserved old world charme, which includes tasteful decoration with wooden interior etc.. The preservation of the old (jewish) bath in the atrium is an additional attraction. Coming to the staff I must say that we were everywhere met with utmost friendliness. The front-desk was helpful in organizing a backwater-tour. The housekeeping put a smile on all our faces by arranging the towels similar to my little sons little teddy-pig. Restaurant-staff was always helpful, the chef came to our table to inquire for special wishes. The food in the "jetty-Restaurant" (dinner a la carte) is very good and the breakfast-buffet, too. I would strongly recommend the "heritage walk" in the morning, we had a very knowledgeable guide ("Rajesh") who literally knew not only every building in Fort Kochi but - as it seemed to us - also every person. To sum it up: this hotel can only be very strongly recommended for anyone who wants to get a feel for Kochi.

Our family (my wife, son, and I) had a wonderful weekend stay at Forte Kochi, and it turned out to be one of those places you remember long after you've checked out. The hotel beautifully balances heritage with comfort. Every corner has been restored and designed with great taste, creating a cozy atmosphere without losing its old-world charm. Its location couldn't be better—right in the heart of Fort Kochi, with art galleries, cafés, museums, and the vibrant streets just a short walk away. What stood out the most, however, was the people. I won't single out any individual because the entire team deserves the credit. Every interaction came with a genuine smile, warmth, and an eagerness to help. Service here didn't feel scripted—it felt sincere. I've stayed at many luxury hotels where, at times, the sophistication can unintentionally create a sense of distance. Forte Kochi was refreshingly different. The team was humble, approachable, and down-to-earth, yet incredibly professional. Everyone seemed to take personal ownership of ensuring guests had a memorable experience, regardless of their role. The food was excellent, the property was spotless, and the overall experience exceeded our expectations. If you're looking for a place that combines heritage, comfort, outstanding food, and genuinely heartfelt hospitality, I couldn't recommend Forte Kochi more highly.

The old Dutch colonial building has so much history and was fun to stay in. Extremely friendly staff, great food, and enjoyable interior ambiance. Stayed there with my 9-month old grandson and had a fabulous time. The staff took great care of the baby with his infant food. Highly recommend for a family stay.

Great staff who took care of all my needs as I am disabled and use a mobility scooter. Very helpful to ensure our room was scooter friendly. The restaurant is very good and the Chef took great care to enquire exactly what we liked to eat and he delivered. Thank you Chef. All staff are very polite and took great care of us.

Incredible stay at a historic property. Was shocked that the building was from 400+ years ago, and was one of the first markets in India. Today, it features the edifice and design elements from the past, but is well equipped with incredible modern appliances and features. AC works great, pool and rest of the property are very well maintained and clean. The service is out of this world good. We were getting pampered and taken care of from check in to when we left the property.

Everything was perfect, the location, the building, the service, the food. It's literally in the heart of Fort Kochi that everything is 2 minutes away on foot, beautiful building with lots of history. I also recommend the morning heritage walk as you get to learn a lot about overall Kochi's history. The service was perfection, from the moment I checked in till I left the hotel. It was a wonderful stay and I would definitely come back when I am back in Kochi.

We had a wonderful stay at Forte Kochi! The hotel is beautiful and full of historic charm, right in the heart of Fort Kochi, making it easy to walk to all the main attractions. So we chose this Paul John property because we were staying at the kumarakom lake resort prior to this and we were so so impressed by it we were hundred percent sure this was also going to be a memorable experience. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case at all. The staff though kind and polite and kept checking on us the hotel in itself had several short comings. A part of the restaurant was under renovation which meant every morning the breakfast available was the cold breakfast including cereals and baked stuff which was really of substandard quality. For a so called luxury hotel to have a worn out toaster was border line embarrassing.. There was the option of ordering ur own hot breakfast but even that came cold (chutneys were not fresh and came straight out of the refrigerator ice cold which was really disappointing). The paneer dish we ordered was stale and needed to be returned. The property has so much potential and the location is so great but just seems like a completely wasted opportunity. The staff is really undertrained to be honest and had no insight on the various attractions nearby or not able to provide any kind of real guidance expect for the usual small talk which seemed forced, unnecessary and quite a jarring contrast to their other property. Will not recommend.

I believe this hotel should be considered one of the five worst five-star hotels! While the rooms were acceptable, the overall experience was dreadful. For what they called "high tea," only tea was offered. When we requested snacks, a family of five was provided with just four small After the cookies, we were served three cutlets, but only after inquiring about the available snacks. The staff was quite poor and seemed untrained; they were constantly chatting but accomplished nothing. Every time we left the room, they immediately entered it. The worst experience ever in a five-star hotel!!! Save your money; don't go to this place.

As a solo traveller, I couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. Exceptional service, a perfect location, and a historically significant building filled with old-world charm and character. The staff were exceptionally warm, welcoming, and always happy to help, making me feel comfortable and at home throughout my stay. The heritage of the property has been beautifully preserved while offering every modern comfort. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Fort Kochi and would love to stay here again.

The beautiful, attentive and kind staff. So many staff made our stay wonderful, particularly Akash, Lakshipriya, Sujitha. The 2 gentleman at reception were fabulous but i can't remember their names. Every morning we were greeted warmly as we were seated for our delicious breakfast that had a great range of western and Indian options. During our stay we ate many times in the restaurant as their were a lot of options and it was so convenient after a long day. We enjoyed the free morning tour and then paid for a longer tour with Rajesh (rajesh_fortkochi_tours). What an interesting place and such interesting, rich history. He was so accommodating, and even helped us with some shopping (as requestedby us - he didn'thave this as the tour), taking us to some great shops where the locals go. We stayed 5 nights - wish it was longer, we would have loved more time sitting beside the beautiful pool. The rooms are stunning, the tiles are beautiful and the wood work beautiful. The bathroom products smell gorgeous. The wifi worked well, the airport transfer at midnight was such a relief to have sorted through the hotel prior.

The location was good and walkable to get around

The cleanliness was very questionable I found bedbugs in my bed the bathroom had black mold growing in the shower area. The staff were very dismissive and did not even try and help sort it out. I am paying five star rates and getting 1 star service I did not expect to share my luxury bed with bedbugs! Unbelievable and very distressing as I did not sleep the whole two nights because I felt like I was being crawled upon. This was supposed to be a solo treat for me for my birthday and it ended up being a nightmare! I expect some sort of compensation and consideration especially finding bedbugs and mold!

Just loved this hotel. The history was fascinating, the rooms extremely comfortable with everything you could need, pool was perfect in the hot weather, food and drinks wonderful, staff exceptional. It was just what we needed after a very busy 4 week tour of India in order to relax for our long flight home. Fort Kochi is a lovely and interesting area.

I travelled with my son and we both developed severe food poisoning which we are assuming is from the hotel room water. We were travelling internationally the next day and the flight experience was terrible thanks to this..this is the reason for the very low score..please make sure this doesn't happen to any other guests
