We were a family of three adults and stayed for three October nights in this lovely, stunning boutique hotel. It’s centrally located, just an easy downhill walk into the centre of Oaxaca. There are only six rooms, all tastefully decorated by the distinguished and highly experienced owner Amelia, and set around a tranquil courtyard filled with plants. Breakfast is served each morning in this same peaceful space. The rooms have very high ceilings and are furnished with a thoughtful mix of contemporary art and traditional pieces. The bathroom was modern and very clean, and the beds were extremely comfortable. The only comfort I missed was a pair of slippers, as the floors were a bit rough & picks up dirt easily. ( not a major, as the rooms are cleaned daily) The highlight of our stay was the in-house team and the exceptional service they provided. All the staff were very friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help without hesitation. A special mention goes to Emanuel—resourceful, attentive, and an excellent communicator—and to Mari/Maricela for her passion, eagerness to help, and warm hospitality. La Casona de Tita was the best stay of our entire Mexico trip, and if we return, we would have no hesitation in booking again
Beautiful small hotel with 6 rooms around a gorgeous central courtyard. Great location, walking distance to everything in central Oaxaca City but relatively quiet (very little traffic noise). Maricela and Manuel make you feel completely at home with recommendations and arranging tours and transportation. Maricela in particular was great at tailoring recommendations to our preferences. The beds are very comfortable, and the bathroom is modern and well equipped, with good water pressure and very nice toiletries from a local company. Lovely, delicious breakfast is included.
Stayed for 8 nights in May with my partner. This small boutique hotel was perfect. Large room with 18-20 foot ceilings, comfortable bed and bedding, good air conditioning for a hot May. The staff went out of their way to treat us like family. Mari, Gabriel, Diego, and Emanuel were the nicest and most effective hosts we’ve ever had. Breakfasts were varied and plentiful, with both Oaxacan and other options. The location is great, a five minute walk up the hill from the zocalo, allowing access to central venues, but far enough away from the noise of bars and restaurants at night. Highly recommended for a romantic, intimate stay in a gorgeous city.
This is a beautiful, small hotel with a staff that is beyond friendly, warm, helpful, professional, and kind. It was like being with family, in only the best way. We loved our room (#5), the lovely neighborhood, the fabulous breakfasts, the sound of the fountain in the quiet courtyard, and above all, the service. Maricela, Emanuel and Gabriel made us feel that we never wanted to leave. They are very sweet, very special human beings.
Before meeting up with a tour group, my wife and I stayed one night at this gem of a small hotel. Beautifully appointed and centrally located, this hotel is within easy walking distance of all the sights of Central Oaxaca city. Marisela is a wonderful and helpful host.
La Casona de Tita is everything you would want in a boutique hotel. Six rooms surround a lovely patio. Breakfast (included) was spectacular. We stayed eight nights and by the end it all felt like family. The attention to detail and attentiveness of the staff was superb. Highlights recommended.
Having just spent eight nights at La Casona de Tita, I can only write a rave review. This boutique hotel is special! Six lovely rooms surround a charming courtyard. It is here where the sumptuous breakfasts are served. What really separates this hotel from others in the intimacy and quiet of the environment.and the complete attentiveness of the staff. By the time we left we felt like we were leaving close friends. The location is excellent.
We had a wonderful four night stay at the Hotel Casona de Tita a week ago. The hotel is a lovely oasis from what has become a bustling city. The hotel is centrally located, and we were able to easily walk everywhere in this beautiful city and enjoyed fantastic food everywhere. Our room, number 5, was spacious, clean, and well appointed. The bathroom was also large with a good size shower and plenty of hot water. We enjoyed a plentiful, delicious breakfast every morning (thank you, Gabriel!), with many choices. A must is the Oaxacan hot chocolate! Mari, the manager, was the best! She was so helpful, and she and Manuel (also wonderful!) helped us make reservations at all our restaurants, and gave us advice on places to visit. We were sad to leave this special hotel, and hope to return sooner than later.
La Casona is a wonderful place to visit Oaxaca City. Very well located, wonderful inner courtyard, great breakfast and amazing staff. You feel like you know all the staff after 24 hours. They are friendly, will gladly make reservations and make your stay warm and welcoming. Find Marie, Gabriel or Manuel and you will be all set for a fabulous time in the city.
We visited Oaxaca to attend my friend's daughter's wedding and celebrate my birthday. This place was recommended to a friend who had stayed there during her visit. I wanted to spend time with her and her mother during the stay, so we booked it, and it was great! It was the best decision. It's a beautiful place with six rooms that open to a courtyard. The staff is fantastic and made our stay feel so homey. The breakfast which was included was delicious! We got to meet the owner, and she was great. Beautiful lady inside and out. It was such a fantastic experience that we plan to return, and I would love to stay here again. Cindy & Chuy
The staff were wonderful, especially Mari, who was ultra helpful and super friendly. We pretty much had the place to ourselves, but even so, someone was always there, to open the door and bid us a good night. The view when you step out the front door is so so beautiful. Highly recommend.
And incredible experience with an excellent location not only to el Centro but to two trending areas, Xochimilco and Jalatlaco. All areas within a 10 min walking distance. The staff is personable, charming and very attentive. Breakfast was a delight to look forward to each morning on the open terrace. The food was delicious, well presented, and try the freshly squeezed Mandarin Orange juice. We felt safe, comfortable and well taken care of in this small boutique colonial house. We will return on our next visit next year. Oaxaca is charming and historic! And Marie, the manager, will assist you in any of your request. Gabriel was a delight at breakfast! Make sure to visit Rito for chocolate ice-cream around the corner. Marie can direct you there! Make your reservation!
This is a stunning boutique hotel. It's in a great location, a short, downhill walk into the centre of Oaxaca with all its bars and restaurants, but the locale (and the thick colonial walls) means that it is very quiet at night. There are only a handful of rooms, all set around a beautiful and tranquil courtyard with plants where they serve amazing, freshly cooked breakfasts each morning. The rooms have very high ceilings and are decorated with a tasteful selection of contemporary art and traditional furniture. The bathroom was modern and very clean, and the beds were extremely comfortable. Best of all were the staff, who were all very friendly and welcoming, willing to help with anything to improve your stay in Oaxaca. La Casona de Tita hotel was really the highlight of our two weeks in Mexico and when we return to Oaxaca we will have no hesitation about booking it again. Highest recommendation!
La Casona de Tita is a stunning boutique hotel, where we spent three nights in November. Amazing
What a home from home this was. Felt so safe and comfortable. Wonderful beds and spacious rooms. The staff are just wonderful. Breakfast though limited in its choice is wonderfully cooked and delicious. Close to all major spots. Would absolutely stay again and again
Great place
Staff was very helpful and friendly
Excelente servicio, personal muy amable, ambiente muy acogedor
Our stay at La Casona De Tita was incredible. The hotel is located in the center of the city, within a short walking distance of amazing restaurants, museums, shopping and more. The traditional Spanish style courtyard was warm and inviting with a fountain. We had an amazing breakfast al fresco every morning. The staff treated us like family, we loved spending time with them in the morning, chatting while we had amazing home cooked meals and coffee. They were very attentive to our needs and kept our nicely sized room clean and tidy. A experience. We hope to visit and stay at Hotel Casona De Tita again. PS - the food was incredible and the tomatillo salsa rivaled the best restaurants in Oaxaca!
The most wonderful place to stay in Oaxaca - my husband and I were in town for a wedding and loved our entire experience at La Cason’s de Tita. Not only was the location extremely convenient to everything you’d want to see in the City, but it was quiet, safe and charming. The entire staff were warm and welcoming, and even helped me fix my dress when it broke a few minutes before we had to leave for the wedding! Overall, highly recommend.
My husband and I stayed in room 4 of this lovely small hotel. The room was large, with very comfortable beds, a large bathroom, and a great shower. The hotel is very quiet at night, and we enjoyed the neighborhood. There are many interesting things to see and do within easy walking distance. The breakfasts are delicious and are served in a lovely courtyard. We particularly enjoyed having cafe latte each morning, along with a large number of breakfast choices. Above all, the staff is so very helpful and attentive, that they make your stay such a delightful one. Thanks so much to Jesus, Karen, Isabel, and all the rest of the staff for helping us with reservations, tours, arranging for cabs, and recommendations.
A tiny hotel, just six rooms, this a special place, a few quirks, but so much charm and genuineness. The staff were the best. Lovely people. Attentive to every request and great advice on shopping and eating. Try La Popular for mole! Breakfasts were excellent. Good coffee and sweet cake. Canaries singing away. Just a short walk from cafes, restaurants, markets, shops. Oaxaca is a wonderful town. We’re definitely going back and we’ll stay at La Casona de Tita for sure!
We stayed at Casona for 5 days and the whole time was fantastic. The location is ideal for exploring central Oaxaca by foot and it’s quiet at night. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. María, Gabriel and Carin were so helpful throughout our stay. The recommendations they mad e for tours and restaurants for us as first time visitors were spot on. The hotel is clean, modern and spacious. Decent WiFi and good air conditioning. Highly recommend
We had previously stayed at another hotel in Oaxaca, closer to the night 'action.' But last year the noise kept us up all night. This year we tried La Casona de Tita, and were glad we did. We enjoyed the intimacy of this hotel with only six units. We were always able to have a good night's sleep. The complete morning breakfast (not continental) was great as we didn't have to leave the premises before starting our day.
We just returned from 3 days at La Casona de Tita. Wonderful boutique hotel set in a colonial home. The 6 rooms are big and decorated in great taste - sparse, hacienda style, thick stone walls, comfortable bed, strong AC. They are located around a beautiful and tranquil courtyard where a delicious breakfast is served. The location was perfect - a couple of blocks from all the action but completely quiet and peaceful at night. The staff was outstanding, so nice and accommodating. Mary, Karen, Gabriel and the others were very friendly and catered to our every need with a smile. We highly recommend Casona de Tita and plan on staying with them again on our next trip to Oaxaca.
We spent four nights in the two bedroom apartment owned by this hotel. It is a ten to fifteen minute walk away. The staff made us feel like family. First the owner arranged for an English-speaking driver to meet us at the airport..The plane was atrociously late, but there he, Oscar, was waiting. We checked in around 11 pm. Then the driver took us to the apartment and unlocked the two doors. We have had great difficulty getting into other places even in the daylight, so this was much appreciated. Morning breakfasts (included) in a beautifully fountained courtyard were a highlight of the day. What pleasure we got from the staff! Our table was always ready for us; we tried different, delicious selections each day; the bread and granola are made in-house; the orange juice is freshly squeezed. Thanks to Mari for arranging our trip to Monte Alban and for calling taxis when needed. We hated to leave.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the apartment which is an extension of the Hotel La Cason de Tita. The owners Amelia & Danny are warm, friendly and excellent communicators. We experienced flight delays/cancellation en route to Oaxaca. They were extremely helpful and accommodating. When we finally arrived arrangements were in place to ensure a smooth and swift check-in so we could get some much needed rest. The apartment is beautifully decorated, very comfortable and it’s in a quiet and peaceful neighborhood. Simply elegant. A daily breakfast included with your stay at the hotel with delicious Oaxacan dishes. The hotel courtyard where breakfast is served is also beautiful and the on-site manager of the hotel “Mary” greeted us on the mornings we went there. She is also warm, friendly, attentive and extremely helpful. They frequently say “We love to help!” and they hold true to that promise. I highly recommend this accommodation!
Our stay at La Casona De Tita was one of the best parts of our trip to Oaxaca! The hotel is perfectly located, close to downtown, but on a quiet street. The staff is OUTSTANDING! Mari was so kind and helpful, she made our Oaxaca experience so much easier! The breakfast is wonderful and Gabrielle made each and every morning enjoyable and special. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a clean, safe, and special stay in Oaxaca!

We looked over many boutique hotels and B&B's in Oaxaca before settling on La Casona De Tita, and we're glad we chose this beautiful spot. A delicious breakfast was served each morning on their lovely patio. Mari and the rest of the staff were extremely helpful and accomodating. Like I said in the header...it's very close to everything, but not in the loud party zone of El Centro and the Zocalo. Bed is comfortable, shower great, but sometime the WiFi could act up. They'd quickly reset the router and make it good again, so it might be a mild inconvience for a few minutes, but no big deal. If I were going back to Oaxaca, I would definitely return here.
It's a great place with six rooms total that makes it quiet, unique and special all wrapped up in a little box. The staff is very helpful with anything you need and good recommendations with foods, shops and adventures.
Very friendly and professional staff, great English (which is helpful with my bad Spanish), spacious rooms and a lovely breakfast. The place was very central while being quiet.
We came to Oaxaca for a wedding and found the hotel on Trip Advisor. We had a great experience at the hotel. Our room was spacious and clean. The people were friendly and helpful. Breakfast (included) was delicious! The location was within walking distance from everything you would want to do in the city central but was still quiet.
Perfect location, very calm, friendly staff, very delicious breakfast, possibility to open windows to get fresh air, birds singing, comfortable bed. Very high price for a very simple room. No tea, coffe or kettle in a room. Just one chair in a room, very poor toiletters, no slipers Bedding a little worn out.
My husband and I had a great stay at Casona de Tita. The hotel is in a nice quiet location within an area walkable to many of the city’s main attractions. Staff was all very friendly and helpful. Included breakfast was delicious. We stayed in room 1 which was incredibly spacious and well decorated. Great value overall.
We stayed 3 nights before Christmas at the luxury apartment belonging to the hotel but located a few blocks away. Very comfortable appartement with nice deciration with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Perfect for our family of 4 with a teenager and a young adult or for 2 couples. A gourmet breakfast with LOTS of choices was served on the hotel premises and we also used their lunch box service the last day because our flight was very early. We did not use the kitchen, but it was very well equipped. 2 little terraces and a garage to make it a perfect place for a longer stay. Service and advice from the hotel employees was perfect and the appartement does benefit of daily cleaning while we were visiting the beautiful Oaxaca city and the surrounding villages. I highly recommend this place and it was VERY QUIET at night which was an important criterion for us on top of having a garage or parking on the premises.
Love the hotel, service is great, breakfast is amazing, and rooms are beautifully decorated, very well located. This place is in a special category known as Tesoros de México, this guarantee an unforgettable stay
