We’ve stayed here before and the staff are always welcoming, the place is clean and tidy and the room is lovely. Lots of little finishing touches which make the stay more enjoyable

Nice location, nice place. No complaints at all. However the ventilation in bathrooms requires attention that they wouldn't necessarily be aware of and I forgot to mention it.

It’s on a very busy road, lots of traffic noise, our single beds where very narrow ( child beds maybe) and our bedroom window was buy the extract fan from the kitchen, not good. You any get a cooked breakfast on Saturday/sunday, 8.30am to 9.30am a very narrow window as we missed Sunday as we had to leave by 8.30am

We were upgraded on arrival which was nice. There was a King bed which was lovely. Good ensuite. Breakfast basket that came with the room was plentiful. Good towels. Although it was a pub, accommodation was quiet.

Breakfast was variable. First day, 2 large sausages and good rashers of bacon, toast served with meal. Second day 1 sausage, 2 small bacon and had to do own toast. Different quantity of tea. Second day had to ask for more tea. Quality was consistent but why the changes in amount??

Exceptionally warm welcoming staff. Great location overlooking town and hills beyond. Happy Hour was a bonus!

This is a very individual pub/B&B - staff are all very personable and the building is quirky and fun - nothing of the hotel chain about the offering.

Midweek there is a rather modest “continental breakfast” left in the room before check-in. The price is quite good value but towards the expensive end of the B&B scale, especially given there is no hot breakfast midweek.

Lovely and spacious room, nicely decorated. Great bathroom…. nice continental breakfast, great having a fridge.

Better lighting in the bathroom for shaving, basin use could cause injury. Eagle Owl room was lovely but it was noisy although not a lot you can do about that. Parking spaces were very tight for getting in/out of vehicle but again not much you can do about that.

As usual the Eagle and Child is a very nice place to stay and the staff know me by name and the personal greeting is appreciated.

Its situated on an extremely busy main road. Heavy traffic all day and night. The hotel boasts sound proof rooms, suggesting a quiet stay. The incessant noise from the road and industrial extractor fan running 24/7 made it almost unbearable being in the room. The booking .com advert shows breakfast is included. Its misleading as throughout our stay a continental breakfast was delivered to our room the day before. There was no suitable place to comfortably eat anything. On further investigation in the hotel information well into the description after reviews etc. it does reveal how breakfast is managed. However it should say this on the initial information. I would not have booked this accommodation had i been made aware.

Lovely comfortable room. Good breakfast. Were attending a wedding so were due to arrive before the official check in time. Had been agreed that could leave luggage and it would be put in our room which was really helpful. However room was actually ready on arrival so were able to check in without any additional charge. Also given a key to the property so could let ourselves in when we got back in the early hours.

The staff were outstanding and they couldn’t do any more to help at all times. The building was very well presented with an outside seating area and a lovely indoor orangery style room for dining. The room was immaculate and the water pressure on the shower was excellent.

The only little quarm is the location with the road being quite busy. But this cannot be helped, overall the hotel was outstanding.

A nice pub, nice rooms and bathrooms. Very good food and drinks, staff were very friendly and attentive. A very pleasant and enjoyable stay, really enjoyed it and will stay again when visiting the East Lancs Railway

Although they were very busy with Sunday lunches, the staff were excellent. The room was of a good size, well decorated, clean and well-organised. This is the second time we have stayed there.

We were given a room above the kitchen. It called Little Eagle room. The room was noisy, smelly and hot. We asked to move room and were advised that the staff in the kitchen were hot and basically we had to put up with it until the kitchen closed. The manager kept apologising, offered us a drink and said that if we had booked direct we would receive a refund. Guess what… no refund as we booked through Booking.com. It seems as though we had no rights and should have accepted the hot, noisy and smelly room because the staff were hot! An absolute disgrace. Also, please note that the ‘breakfast’ isn’t a hot one. It doesn’t say this on Booking.com. Although we didn’t stay the night (we had to leave as it was so unpleasant) the breakfast was a diy (pour hot water onto a pot of porridge )and a few other bits including croissants that would have been a day old by the time we would have eaten them for breakfast.

Very warm welcome from staff, lovely room with a great view, quiet fridge, modern spacious bathroom with a good shaving/makeup mirror. The food in the restaurant was amazing, and great Thwaites beer. The room was very quiet as the restaurant and bar is pretty empty by 11:00pm - although it was very busy earlier.

A bit more milk for the room, but i'm sure we could have had some if we asked. Similarly a bit stingy on soap/shower gel, although to be fair we were only there one night

Lovely spacious room with a lovely view. The amenities and facilities in the room were great, there was nothing more we could have asked for! We stayed in the owl room. Staff were very polite and helpful and the full English breakfast on the Saturday morning was fantastic as well.

The pub, restaurant and the outside bar were all clean and set out in perfectly to move around and in an easy to reach location with amazing views. Staff were all polite , professional and friendly and happy to help . The accommodation was perfect, could be located from inside the pub or from a privately locked entrance outside, our room overlooked the amazing views. The room had everything we needed for a comfortable stay and the breakfast was packed and more than enough choice to start the day . We had a meal in the restaurant which was presented well and was delicious.

Incredibly cozy room with the comfiest bed ever! Staff were so friendly and extremely helpful. Breakfast was my cup of tea, a lovely hamper in my room so I could stay in bed! Also a free drink was a nice surprise! I was able to log into my Netflix on the tv too! As a solo traveler I really found this perfect for me and I can't wait to visit again!

All I would say is that if you are a light sleeper maybe request a room further away from the road, mine looked over the road and as a heavy sleeper I was able to switch it off but it can be quite noisy.I stayed in the "long eared owl room" for reference ☺️ but honestly nothing negative at all about the trip on my end!

EVERYTHING! (I rarely write reviews but just had to here!😄) My friend and I needed a little break and chose The Eagle and Child and wow... we're so glad we did! 👌 The staff were lovely and couldnt do enough, especially Troy who made us laugh even with severe hangovers! 🤣 The food was gorgeous and amazing quality! 😍 The beer garden is gorgeous and we spent a lovely afternoon drinking prosecco and spritz cocktails in the sun chatting with other customers 🌞 Room was beautiful, clean and had everything we could wish for, including a juliet balcony where we sat late into the evening admiring the fabulous views 💕 It was a perfect day and night away and we will DEFINITELY be back soon! 👌

The fire alarm went off at 3am and we all rushed downstairs. We found 2 phone numbers and 1st no reply then 2nd told us how to turn off...It said basement so we just couldn't relax and didn't get back to sleep. Asked for refund but no reply from owner or booking.com Breakfast music was far too loud and felt we were in a rock concert...not a relaxing Breakfast or stay....

I loved the wonderful staff, so helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean, cosy and well stocked with tea, coffee, snacks and breakfast basket. Bathroom was lovely, modern and clean. Dinner in the restaurant- exceptional.

Very friendly and helpful staff, the room was lovely and a good size. There’s a fridge in the room which they stock with milk, orange and yogurt, there’s a basket of croissants, fruit and cereals. The pub downstairs is excellent, good wine and the food is excellent. Wouldn’t stay anywhere else in the area.

The listing did not clearly communicate that the accommodation is located within and accessed through an active pub environment. The description mainly referred to a bar/restaurant, which is common for many hotels, and the photos gave the impression of a more separate hotel-style stay. Due to my religious beliefs, this made the accommodation unsuitable for me and I had to arrange alternative accommodation at additional cost. I also found the handling of the situation afterwards disappointing.

Breakfast in the bedroom is a massive let down. I travel the world and I’ve never had breakfast in my bedroom when there is a great restaurant in the same building. For this reason only I won’t stay there again.

Fabulous room, nice breakfast, and it was immaculate

The meal we had was lovely, but my partner thought his meal wasn’t enough for him, he had the lamb but the plate hardly had any food on it, so I had to give him half of my meal, so his meal would of been better value for money with more veg and potatoes.

Very friendly and helpful staff. We ate in the restaurant, the food was excellent, in fact one of the best UK restaurants we have used in a long time.

The Full English Breakfast at the Eagle and Child was the best breakfast I had in our entire trip to the UK. My mouth still waters thinking back on it. Great atmosphere and cool to see the history of the site (there's been an operational pub/inn there since the 1600s). Location was pretty cool too with great views down into town and across the valley to the moor on the other side.

Had expected a somewhat larger room, but we probably didn't read the description accurately. Was manageable, but on the smaller side.

The room, ripped carpet, topper curtain, bathroom shower door seal hanging off and mouldy, room is on a slant which means the bed is also on a slant, some chocks under one end would help! The mattress is like a hammock and I woke up with shoulder pain, doors are thin and so corridor noise is loud, the food however was nice and we enjoyed the restaurant, before reviewing I did reach out to the property with my concerns but they haven’t bothered to reply!!
