Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Very friendly staff. Room was clean but looking a little tired. Bed was comfortable. The breakfast was a good continental breakfast. Location was very good close to the centre of Bayeux.
No heat in room and temp was 48 degrees the night of our stay. We heard other guests complain of no heat. The phone number on the hotels hotels.com page is wrong. When told the next morning about the heat and wrong number there was absolutely no response.
Breakfast was enough to start the day., good coffee
It was a very unique guest house and the ladies who ran it were amazing. Breakfast was lovely and the place was very clean. Our room was spacious and beautiful. Would definitely stay there again.
The place was clean and comfortable. The location is perfect to walk to the sites, shopping and restaurants. I would stay here again!
This was a perfect place to visit the Normandy region. Very walkable location. Clean, comfortable, well equipped rooms and kind, helpful hosts. The breakfast is well worth it. We were full until dinner.
This was location was remote, quiet, with a friendly staff.
We loved how close this property was to the cathedral and to restaurants etc. It was a cute and convenient place to stay. Would recommend!
The property was a bed and breakfast and the room and place were very nice. Walkable to restaurants, museums and train station. All very good. What was not so good was check in and check out. On their website they indicate you can make arrangements if you can't make the 5-8 PM check-in. We contacted them via email months in advance and they said email them the day before and we could make luggage drop off arrangements. We did that and they said that was not possible. We were arriving at 1 PM and what were we suppose to do, drag our luggage around for 4 hours until check in. Their suggestion was to leave our luggage outside the building where anyone could just take it, a definite non starter for us. I was finally able to talk to someone on the morning of our arrival to their property and they said they would give us a code to enter the property. What they should have done the day before when we asked for the early drop off of our luggage. Check out was a bit better, however although the website says you can check out at 11 am, they wanted us out by 10:30 at the latest. And no you cannot leave your luggage in the B&B. So if you don't mind living by rules regarding check in and check out that can change on the drop of a dime, this is your place.
Very hard to get access to the guest house, or from rooms into central area. Sheets had two small blood stains on them upon my arrival; were not changed over the following three days. Caffetiere did not work and no response to my reporting the same. Good location, but I did not feel that the disclosure was adequate and respective absence of service, and thought that the service issues above were frankly quite disappointing.
This is a cute historic house that has been remodeled as a boutique hotel. Our room was small, but adequate. Everything was neat and clean. I want to mention that it does not have air conditioning or access to a refrigerator. The week before we came the weather had been quite warm and it might have been uncomfortable. However, the week we were there the weather was very comfortable. It is conveniently located close to many restaurants and the important tourist attractions.
We stayed in the 3 bedroom unit. It was big which was good. The room was really warm though and I didn’t feel safe leaving the windows open on the first floor. It would have been better if there were some fans downstairs. Walking distance to everything though which was convenient.
Fantastic small hotel near the center of town and convenient for everything. The only thing I would mention is to be aware that checking in is only from 5pm until 8pm. No one on the premises at other times.
A lovely property! About a 10-minute walk to the train station in one direction and about 5 minutes to town in the other. Room was clean and comfortable. We loved being able to sit on the balcony in the evening. Two considerations: Check-in time starts at 5:00 pm, so if you arrive to Bayeux early, there is no convenient place to store luggage. We arrived around 1:00 pm, so consider this in your schedule. The other is that breakfast is very simple with no hot food options. But the croissants were amazing! One complaint: when our room was serviced, the toilet paper was not restocked, so we had to go out and buy our own. The roll was very low when we checked in. There is no 24-hour clerk, as we were told that she leaves around 7 - 8 pm. We assumed we would get a fresh roll in the morning, but we didn’t. Overall, we would stay again. It was a nice change from a regular hotel.
This is an awesome B&B. The room was perfect, comfortable and roomy, with a nice deck and great view of the cathedral. The breakfast was amazing with good company and food and wonderful service. Easy and inexpensive parking, as well as convenient walking to sights, food, restaurants and entertainment make this the perfect location in Bayeux and the city is a perfect location for access to the best Normandy sights.
The guest house is beautiful and service is excellent. Colleen was friendly and welcoming. Parking at the guest house is 9 euro/day and breakfast is included. Rooms are nicely furnished. The location is excellent - easy walking distance to everything we wanted to do in Bayeux and an easy drive to Normandy beaches.
This property has old world charm and is located in a convenient spot that is walkable to museums, restaurants, and other places of interest. The staff was friendly and the daily breakfast included was a welcome amenity. Bed was very comfortable. Check in is late at 5 pm. Bathroom needs updating and no a/c though the fan provided was adequate most evenings. Parking is an extra charge. All in all a pleasant place to stay!
This is really a beautiful quaint Bread and Breakfast. Check in hours are limited to 2 hours in the evening. The host is friendly and helpful. Breakfast was pastries and yogurt. It is on a busy street so there is noise. No AC or fans if it is hot.
Very convenient to the sights in Honfleur. Nice , clean room. Very convenient to city centre and train station. We were early so, because there was no staff at the property, we had to find a luggage storage in town. It would have been nice to be forewarned that we couldn’t store luggage at the premises.
Nice older property a few minutes walk from the cathedral, tapestry and a good selection of restaurants and bars. Be aware no air conditioning and you have to pay to park in the driveway.
The room was ok, but the experience was horrible. We wasted half a day trying to confirm that we would have a room upon arrival, and finally had to go through Expedia to be able to get in touch with the property. They also told us parking was available at the property for 9 euros per day, but when we arrived (at 11:30p) there were no spaces and it was too late to try and figure out where to park. We left our car close to a wall and far away from the parked cars. We also left a note with our room number in case there was a problem. The hotel proprietor woke us up at the crack of dawn screaming to us in French. We tried to explain that we did not know where to park (since we were not given instructions when we asked about parking) and we moved our car to a public parking lot. She kept screaming at us every time she saw us even though we apologized and paid 9 euros to park there for a few hours. When we were leaving there was a lady waiting outside who also had a reservation and was not able to get in touch with anyone. She was trying to book a room elsewhere. Stay away from this place, the lady there is very nasty and rude.
Great breakfast.
Great location, close to the downtown and the train station. The room was comfortable with a wonderful view of the Cathedral. Very welcoming staff.
Excellent stay
Enjoyed the stay very nice place
Great French character Inn near the beautiful cathedral.
Excellent location, friendly hostess, comfortable room
The property was very clean and convenient to the town. Our tour guide picked us up at the door. It would have been nice if we could have stored our bags there before the 5:00 checkin.
Excellent hotel in great old building! Great location and staff!
Serverine warmly welcomed us at check-in and showed us to our room. She served breakfast a little earlier than usual the first day as we had an early tour and gave us great restaurant recommendations that we could walk to. Felt like we were staying with friends
Old manor house. Very convenient to walking around Bayeux. Delightful continental breakfasts.
Beautiful boutique hotel. Warm atmosphere. We had 2 amazing French breakfasts including local cheese and juice, fresh bread, croissants and local cheese. Room was perfect sized with a nice balcony. Close enough to walk to anything in downtown Bayeux.
We enjoyed our stay so much, we extended our stay. Ideal location for visiting the Normandy beaches and Mont St Michel.
Well located for a visitor to explore this beautiful, beautiful town.
The host was excellent. Very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was super- a big selection with homemade options. The orange juice was freshly squeezed. The room was nice and clean. The bed was a king size. The room was cool and you could open the balcony doors. The only downside was the late check in time - 5pm. We were only staying 1 night, so it felt like we just slept and left. Parking on site was limited, but there are public options nearby.
The hospitality was superior.
We stayed at Le Castel for 2 nights during a trip to see the beaches of Normandy. The town of Bayeux is charming and the Normandy region is beautiful! Le Castel is conveniently located in town, and walkable to all the charming restaurants, shops, and attractions in Bayeux. My complaints fall with the lack of accessibility of staff. Nobody is there until 5pm for check in. I messaged the property to request check in at 4, or at least to see if we could leave our luggage, as we arrived by train from Paris, and nobody replied to my request. Upon the designated 11am checkout, nobody was on premise and the lobby was locked (per usual) so we left our key in our room.
Castel Bayeux is a gem in a beautiful Normandy town. I absolutely loved the room, the owner is friendly and the breakfast was delicious. I loved the entire town and this guesthouse was the cherry on top!
Absolutely spacious, comfortable, and convenient lodging with 3 separate bedrooms with on-suite full baths in the heart of beautiful and quaint Bayeux. What more could you ask for? Accommodations were above and beyond expectations as was the multitude of restaurants, bars, and shops within walking distance, not to mention the gorgeous cathedral and the fascinating tapestry museum. It's also a close drive to the WWII museums and cemetery as well as the must see Mont Saint-Michel. Highly recommended!
The beds were a little too hard, and the pillows were flat. You must walk the stairs with your bags. The hostess was very helpful in helping carrying the bags up 3 flights of stairs. You cannot check in until 5. You can store your bags near the Bayeaux train station at Nannybags.com and pick them up later.
This was a great place! Right downtown and near all sorts of things, museums, cathedrals, restaurants. The folks there were very friendly and the room was great!
Wonderful hotel
The hostesses were wonderful and the hotel very clean. Convenient to dinner and shopping. Could not ask for better place to stay in Bayeux.
The property is very quaint! The hostesses were very friendly and super accommodating! We were on the third floor so be warned that it s flights of stairs as there is no elevator. We did love the place and would definitely return.
the character of the house was great. other guests very quiet and respectful. the AMAZING breakfast included in my stay and the very friendly staff who were patient with my not-great French. the location very close to town centre, safe and convenient.
This is a very nice option for the Bayeux area. We loved the accommodations, and the staff were very friendly. We absolutely loved our stay of 4 nights!!
Lovely house, in the Centre of Bayeux. A couple of things detracted from an otherwise great stay : there’s little noise insulation (we could clear hear, and I guess be heard, by people walking in the hallway) and the shower was weak - host advised it’s because of water quality in Bayeux (calcium)
Beautiful bed and breakfast. Staff was friendly, even did a little extra for my birthday at breakfast. Convenient to walk everywhere in town. Room and bathroom were nice size even had a little balcony.
Wonderful place to stay. Close to the Tapestry and Cathedral in Bayeux. We were welcomed with great service and had a beautiful view of the Cathedral from our room. Everything was just superb.
Lovely property. Manager so sweet and helpful! Only negative is 5pm check in seemed a little late to me.
Great, comfortable accommodation so well located in Bayeux. Run by lovely helpful people who couldn’t do more for you. Highly recommended!
very close to the cathedral and nice restaurants Clean and comfortable room and bath, great windows with lots of light Our room is a bit small, which seems common for European hotels
When I first made the reservation a few property amenities actually did not exist ….most importantly an elevator and our rooms were on the third floor. Lugging luggage up three floors is no piece of cake. Also a point of interest there is no A/C in the rooms. Thankfully we experienced cool weather while we were there.
Very friendly and helpful staff!
This is a very comfortable and very clean hotel with nice hosts. However, it is an older building with limited access to plugs to use to charge your phone or other devices. We had just one plug available in our room, and this was in the bathroom. My husband and I had to stagger our charging to keep our devices useful. I consider this a minor inconvenience, but others might find it difficult. Breakfast was good, although choices did not vary day to day, and there were no hot/warm offerings. No toaster available, which would have been nice. The biggest negative to this hotel was the late check in time……..5:00. We arrived at 3:00 on the train from Paris, and had to drag our suitcases with us until someone arrived to let us in at 5:00. The doors are locked and there is no option for dropping suitcases early before check in, as is available at most other hotels. This would not necessarily keep me from rebooking this hotel, as it was a pleasant stay and very convenient to downtown Bayeux. However, I would most likely spend some time researching other hotels with a less severe check in time.
Charming chateau! Very good location! Walkable to city center! Good service and spacious room.
We had a very pleasant stay here- a great place to explore Beyeux and also easy drive to Normandy beaches. It is very near the beautiful cathedral and nice dining. The breakfast was ok.
Great location, charming bedroom, nice breakfast, good coffee, and really excellent bathroom.
We had a large room with a bathroom on the top floor. The room was clean and comfortable and we were able to park on site for a small additional fee. Breakfast was continental. Very convenient location just a short walk from downtown, the cathedral, and the tapestry.
We loved our stay at Castle Bayeux.....would definitely stay there again.
Severina abdhrr mom were lovely and very accommodating hosts. Thecprpperyy os stunning amd a stone'sthrow from the cathedral and tapestry museum.Dhort was to train station
Great location, great host, and beautiful place.
Perfect location and Severine was an excellent hostess!
Great location and cozy place to stay. Very friendly staff. Definitely would stay again
Great location in Bayeaux and very nice. Free public parking very close and walking distance to cathedral and museums. Also had a very good breakfast included and room was very comfortable. Only drawback is limited available of check in or even leave luggage.
Nice hotel, the only issue is that the check in is from 5 to 8… breakfast starts at 8… but most of the excursions start at the same time… On the other hand, it is just three blocks from where all the tours leave and it has a small parking area in the front.
Great place to stay the host was lovely
Interesting building very close to town centre, Tapestry Museum, cathedral and plenty of places to eat out (no evening meal offered). Room and breakfast area clean and presentable. Hosts friendly - Séverine speaks English. Stair carpet getting a bit old and musty (there is no lift). Free public parking 2 or 3 hundred metres away. A few parking places being made on the site.
We stayed in the separate 3-bedroom unit behind the main house. It was perfect for our family of 5. The location is perfect for touring Normandy sites. The town of Bayeux is wonderful with good restaurant choices.
We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed a wonderful stay. The room was well equipped and had a very large bathroom. Our hostess, Severine, was gracious and extremely welcoming. Highly recommend this lovely place!
Very nice, very roomy, nice bteakfast
A brief, but lovely stay in Bayeux. The interiors are beautifully appointed, and our host was most welcoming. A brief notice about parking would be helpful prior to arrival. Delicious breakfast.
Lovely property! We stayed in the carriage house and it was Lovely and spacious. Be sure to pay close attention to the email you receive the day of arrival. It had specific arrival directions/map that were quite helpful. We walked from the train station in the rain & it was no problem. Was also within walking distance to many restaurants
This property only has staff and its main doors open for a little while after breakfast (while housekeeping is done) and then 5-8pm during check in time. We came across a couple who took a taxi and arrived at 4pm and were sitting outside in the cold weather. We allowed them in through the locked side door for already checked in guests so that they could sit inside a couch outside of our bedroom until the building opened. We were unable to let them into the main lobby. The next day we compared notes with that couple on how cold we all were. The radiators in the rooms even at full power were barely giving any warmth. We also noticed that there were steady strong cold drafts coming through some of the windows in our room. In wet, windy 30 F degree weather, it seems like a basic requirement to provide heat. The breakfast while beautifully laid out seemed sparse - we are used to continental breakfasts. I am at a loss at all of the 10/10 ratings - perhaps this is why Orbitz is rejecting my rating.
This charming hotel was just the right place to experience the quaint town of Bayeux. Severing made us feel so welcome and was very helpful. The continental breakfast was delicious and plentiful. I’d go back in a minute!
Beautiful small hotel, great location 1 block from Notre Dame. Very well maintained older building.
The host was very nice, breakfast was good, and location was great.
Great staff. Very friendly and helpful. Great value for money.
Lovely staff, Francoise and Severine, who are charming and welcoming to their guests. Breakfast at the communal table is enjoyable. Two minute walk from the cathedral, and five minute walk from the center of town, quiet and safe. We would stay here again.
The design of the building itself was beautiful and unique (old French charm). The rooms were a bit chilly, though. Tough adjusting the heat to proper temp.
The guesthouse is very charming. It is clean which is important to us. It is located close to shopping, restaurants and many historic places. The manager is very helpful. It includes breakfast which is along the lines of a continental breakfast. There are no hot choices. The only drawback is that check-in is between 5 and 8 pm. So if you arrive early you can leave luggage outside and walk around.
Very nice stay at Le Castel. Lovely breakfast each morning. Françoise and her daughter were very helpful to us. Convenient location, within walking distance of the cathedral, the BAYEUX tapestry, and numerous good restaurants.
This was a lovely place to stay and a good location. Severine was very attentive and helpful.
This is such a warm, inviting B&B right in the heart of Bayeux! The host is super friendly and spoke English. You can walk everywhere you need to go from the B&B with endless food and little shopping options. The room was spacious with views of the cathedral, and very quiet. Great place to kick off tours of the area! Breakfast was also delicious with homemade items!
A remarkable property, a great room, and a great breakfast. Extremely convenient to the town and to the tour origination stops. The only negative is the parking, but there is good street parking (free) about 100 yrds from the property. Highly recommended.
Very quaint castle like building. Very very old but much larger than any other hotel we stayed at in France. If you are looking for luxury and posh this might not be the place for you. Room is basic but charming and comfortable and adorably France. Gorgeous terrace with a stunning view of cathedral. Very central to Bayeux and walkable to everything including the meeting spot for all the tours. Host puts on an adorable breakfast every am that is included in your stay with coffee and yogurt and croissants etc.
We had an annexe completely separate from the main guest house, which gave us independence and privacy. The guest house is central and accessible from the station. We loved it.
The room was extremely tidy and clean with a huge bathroom. The breakfasts each morning went above and beyond with plentiful options to start the day. The hosts were very hospitable and welcoming. An excellent all-round option.
Servine met us at the door to greet us! She speaks English very well. Her breakfast is wonderful! Lots to choose from but nothing hot, if that’s what you’re looking for. No air conditioning but we had a lovely breeze coming in through all the windows. Highly recommend!
A fantastic stay in beautiful Bayeux. Plenty of space for my family of 4.
Staff very helpful and breakfast was wonderful
Very nice establishment, I received a very warm welcome, super nice breakfast, and excellent service, I would highly recommend.
Le Castel is perfectly situated in Bayeux to help you feel like you are right in the middle of everything. It is less than a block to the cathedral and another block to the tour losing zones. The personal touch on the breakfast was also delightful. The only consideration is to plan around the limited check-in hours.
When we walked into the lobby, there was a very strong smell of rancid garbage that permeated the house. Our room was small, but very clean. Our room faced the street which was extremely noisy. View was lovely. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was okay, but less than expected.
Lovely accommodation, let down by late check in and free parking there is not, had to pay 7 euros to the hosts to park
Liked breakfasts Liked laundry services Wish there was a space for afternoon drinks and meeting with other guests Need better bed mattress Enjoyed stay
Host was friendly and helpful. Located in Bayeaux and easy to walk around town and easy drive to sights. Lovely breakfast
A very friendly guest house with a warm welcome from owner Sévérine. Ample room, comfortable bed, good shower and excellent continental breakfast. Four minutes walk to the cathedral; eight minutes to the railway station. The 1937 architecture may look very gothic (almost Bates' Motel) but far from forbidding once inside.
The owners of the guesthouse are so kind and welcoming. They made me feel like family and made my stay very special. Thank you!
Loved being in this beautiful guest house! Great help. Very friendly! Very clean!
