I found this guest house excellent in every respect, from the initial warm reception on arrival by the host, Freddie-he was of great help to me on my fist visit to Bayeux i.e advice on restaurants, sights, organising taxis etc and he speaks good English for those of us who can't speak French I would highly recommend this guest house

Great location, easy walk from the train station and close to town. Our host was very welcoming and even though arriving mid morning it was a pleasant surprise having our room available. It was a lovely room with a view of the cathedral from the balcony.

La maison style Art Déco a beaucoup de charme et est idéalement placé à l'entrée du centre ville. Ma chambre était correcte, spacieuse avec une salle de bain rénovée. Le vrai plus de cet établissement est l'accueil que vous réserve le personnel et la sympathie qui se dégage de Fred. Il est rare de rencontrer ces personnes qui vous font sentir que vous êtes le bienvenu et qu'ils sont là pour vous aider. Je vous remercie sincèrement.

Soggiorno perfetto in una dimora meravigliosa gestita da persone, in particolare Alfred, che coccolano i loro ospiti. Un vero castello in miniatura con dei particolari adorabili. La nostra stanza era davvero bellissima. Peccato esserci stati solo una notte. Parcheggio a pagamento nel giardino della casa che te se il soggiorno ancora più piacevole e comodo.

Il castello avrebbe bisogno di qualche miglioria: non è presente l'ascensore, le stanze si trovano al primo e al secondo piano, accessibili solo tramite una scala un po' stretta. Moquette molto consumata.

We werden wakker door de regen op het dak! Veel te kleine badkamer. Prijs/kwaliteit niet ok.

We stayed in a separate family apartment behind the main hotel building. It offered free parking and it was spacious with three separate double bedrooms with independent bathroom in each and a large common space (living room) with the kitchen. Friendly and helpful staff, very clean and well equipped. They went the extra mile offering some additional items such as coffee capsules for the Nespresso machine. Sited very close to the city center. Overall great.

The only thing worth mentioning is the absence of air-conditioning. It was not strictly needed during our stay (although when we arrived the upper bedrooms were quite warm), but I can imagine that at very warm days (not very common for the area) it can get very warm inside. Nevertheless they offered ventilators for each room.

Un magnifique séjour dans un lieu exceptionnel Quelle belle découverte! Le Castel Guesthouse à Bayeux, est installé dans une magnifique demeure, entièrement rénovée, au style Art déco. Tout a été aménagé avec beaucoup de goût et un grand souci du détail. Les couleurs chaleureuses et la décoration soignée créent une atmosphère à la fois élégante, chaleureuse et accueillante. Notre chambre était très propre, joliment décorée et parfaitement équipée. Le petit-déjeuner était également très bon et constituait une excellente façon de commencer la journée. Notre hôte était extrêmement sympathique, enthousiaste et accueillant. On se sent immédiatement les bienvenus et l’on ressent vraiment toute la passion et l’attention qu’il porte à ses hôtes. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié notre séjour au Castel. Une très belle adresse, avec une atmosphère chaleureuse et unique, que nous recommandons sans hésitation à tous ceux qui souhaitent découvrir Bayeux et ses environs. Une adresse que nous recommandons vivement!❤️

Het ontbijt was prima, de locatie top. Maar bovenal was de accomodatie heel erg mooi en verzorgd en zeer stijlvol.

Teniem dos habitacions i una feia olor a tancat, vam demanar canvi i no va ser posible. En temporada alta es car per l’estat de les instalacions . Sense aire condicionat, ventiladors poc potens, la tv no vem ser capaços de conectar. L’esmorsar bé pero sensill, poca varietat de sucs, sense embotits, bona fruita i croisant molt bo.

Superb property close to the cathedral and a very short walk into the main shopping area. The room was cosy but no A/c although a tower fan was available. Breakfast consisted of usual French breakfast, which was a very good start to the day. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Beautiful, conveniently located, very welcoming host, wonderful breakfast! We stayed inn a new room with windows all around and a gorgeous view of the cathedral! It was like sleeping on a private porch!

L’emplacement, la place de parking super pratique. Une salle de bain pour chaque chambre, la literie super. Le petit déjeuner sur la terrasse.

Personnellement le sol de la salle de bain était très sale. Nous n’avons pas pu faire fonctionner aucune des 3 télévisions (soir de foot) manque planche à découper et verre à pied.

Es ist ein wunderschönes, altes Haus. Das Zimmer war sauber. Fred war sehr nett und hat uns gute Tipps gegeben. Das Frühstück war ok, gab aber kein Fleisch und keine Eier (hätte man vielleicht fragen müssen).

Das Zimmer war sehr klein und bereits etwas abgewohnt. (Der 1. Stock wurde renoviert, der 2., in dem sich unser Zimmer befand, wird nach der Feriensaison dran sein.)

Very central and a beautiful place.

The host of Le Castel, Fred, made us feel that we were staying with a friend. The location is excellent. It is within two blocks of the Cathedral and the commercial area of the city. Our room was comfortable with sufficient comforters on the bed and windows in the bedroom and the bathroom that opened. There is a system to access the guesthouse when the host is not present. Our Fred and the other staff were generous with his time and knowledge. He gave us recommendations for restaurants and things to see. One day we had to be at a meeting point for a tour at the time breakfast was served. They prepared breakfast early so that we could eat before leaving.

Unser Zimmer im 2. Stock war (noch) nicht renoviert - deshalb sehr in die Jahre gekommen und auch etwas muffig (Hochfloor-Teppich). Während Hitzeperiode im Juni 26 war das Dachzimmer extrem heiss - aber immerhin guter Ventilator im Zimmer. Darum Bewertung ganz knapp eine 8.

The food options were great, but it might be improved, if the breakfast start time was earlier.

See above comment. Also, the check in time of I believe is 5pm. Perhaps move that up to 3pm. It might also enhance the guest experience if you opened up the lobby/reception area for guests in the evening, for reading or socializing.

Gammalt och charmigt hus med ett modernt nybyggt badrum i vårt rum. Lugnt och tyst. Personalen ordnade ett strykjärn när klänningen behövde strykas.

Ingen AC, den lilla fläkten hjälpte inte när solen legat på hela dagen. Rummet var mycket varmt även om vädret nu var extremt i hela landet. Mycket hårda sängar och enkel frukost, vi saknade lite varmt. Det fanns kaffe/the, 2x camembert, marmelad, yoghurt med tillbehör, juice, baguette och varsin croissant. För att ge betyg ”utmärkt frukost” önskade vi skinka/salami, hårdost, grönsaker och ägg.

We loved the historic beauty and decor and the lovely patio to eat outside or in. Fred the host went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and special.

Es handelt sich wirklich um ein kleines Castel mit hübschen Zimmern, Parkplatz direkt im Hof beim Hotel, dieser kann auch früher angefahren werden. Frühstück sehr gut, Lage hervorragend für Sehenswürdigkeiten und Restaurants

Location in Bayeux.

The check-in was poor. I was driving all day and didn’t get the message with the code. I arrived well before the late checkin but there was no one answering the door. I finally checked Booking and found the code to get the key. It was 6:30. You would think someone would be there. The gate was broken and we had hard time getting in.

I liked the location. I loved the breakfast....it was VERY good.

The room was ok. I feel like it was very expensive for what I paid though. Also they only do breakfast from 8am-10am and that means you have to be finished eating by 10am. They were nice and let me eat a little later but it made it a bit stressful. They also have a very strict check out time of 11am but they were very nice and let me stay parked there while I walked around town. It was nice feeling while the eating area was open but it is a private house so this area is not open from 8pm-8am so just being in the room was a little less inviting in such a beautiful old house...I liked the idea of the house for the charm of the experience but being in just the bedroom didn't feel as charming.

The flimsy doors to your bedrooms you could hear every single noise. I think something ought to be done about that we did creep around a bit.

L'emplacement est idéal : à seulement quelques minutes à pied de la cathédrale Notre-Dame de Bayeux, des musées, des restaurants et du centre historique. Right in the centre of Bayeux, so couldn't get a better location. However the bedroom was gorgeous, and the bed really comfy. The staff were really lovely. The hotel was also lovely. And the breakfast was great with plenty of choice. So overall we loved our stay.

Fred is the epitome of hospitality. He's warm, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, and made our stay a wonderful experience. Our room was comfortable and beautifully appointed - it respected its heritage while adding modern touches for added convenience. And we loved the breakfast - especially the croissants and freshly squeezed orange juice!

Fred was an excellent host! Always welcoming with a lovely smile. Great location...easy walk to the famous church and to main Street with all the shops and restaurants. Parking was ok and no charge although we weren't there in the high season. Free parking across the street if needed. Would stay here again!

We were aware the room didn't have any bathroom amenities (from other posts) but we were slightly surprised by the lack of towels... only 1 towel (of any size) per person for a 3 night stay. Only other issue was one of the 2 lights in the bathroom was out (mentioned it to management but nothing helped).

On arrival, we received a very warm welcome from Fred. We were in France to visit the D-day beaches and the location of the guest house was ideal for this. Then in the evening it was a short walk into Bayeux to enjoy the bars and restaurants. We enjoyed our breakfast of cereal and fresh croissants. We would definitely recommend this guest house.

On one of our days we returned back to the room after a day out and it hadn't cleaned i.e bed not made up, bin not emptied and coffee not replenished.

Fred was great and very accommodating of our needs. Breakfast was very good.

Shower head in room 5 has a split along the side and sprays water everywhere. We were 2 floors up without an elevator which was a chore for 80 and 85 year olders. Fred helped us get luggage up but it took me 3 trips to get it down because we had to leave early.

Excellent location within a short walk to meeting area for D-Day tour, shops and restaurants.

Arrived 4 pm to locked front door with no one to receive us until 5pm. Radiant heater in room didn’t work and it was needed due to cool weather. Numerous small ants found among breakfast food items.

Location was wonderful and hosts were very friendly. We were a large party of 7 so it was wonderful to all be able to stay at the same place. Breakfast was delicious.

The property is very close to the centre yet also a short walk to a nature park for a morning stroll. It's an attractive 30's style property that retains a period charm. Breakfast is standard continental but perfectly good. Despite offering free parking nearby I was pleased to find there is on-site parking after all although I thought it was a bit pricey at 9 Euro a night.

Whilst the en-suite was generously large the bedroom was quite small and the bed was recessed between two doors such that there were no proper bedside tables. There is no additional desk or seating either so it's not a room to spend time in and not great to read or have tea in bed. I'm sure there were better rooms and as we seemed to be the only guest staying 4 nights rather than 1, I don't know why we didn't get one. Avoid room 5 is my advice. There was satellite TV but no English channels at all (I really did search hard). Now i don't go on holiday to watch TV but I do like to catch the news a bit so a channel of BBC world or CNN (barely news I know) wouldn't have gone amiss. One odd thing. The tea facilities were on a small tray and I had to move it into the bathroom to find a plug. In doing so a mug fell off and broke. When I asked for another I was told there were no more and got a paper cup. It was never replaced from day one. I find it hard to believe there are no spares of these obviously cheap plain mugs and to be honest I felt I was being punished like a naughty schoolboy. It might be a language thing but perhaps this is something the hosts need to reflect on?

Locatie in het oude centrum van Bayeux met restaurants en bezienswaardigheden op loop afstand. Ontvangst door Fred was uiterst vriendelijk en gastvrij met duidelijke uitleg en tips. Ontbijt prima verzorgd. Kamer en badkamer zagen er schoon en netjes uit in de stijl van het historische pand. Prima locatie om Bayeux en omgeving te verkennen.

Eigenlijk niets. Dat er geen lift is wordt duidelijk vermeld bij de boeking. Wel iets om rekening mee te houden! Onze kamers lagen op de 2e verdieping. Dat zijn 4 trappen op!

We loved the guesthouse, a fabulous location to enjoy Bayeux. Our host Fred was delightful and very welcoming. We even washed our car on the property. Our room was comfortable and had a city view. We had a lovely breakfast in a breakfast room with fresh orange juice, croissants, coffee, cheese , meat and pastries. Very convenient for city walks.
