So easy to find. So easy to access. Amazing location. Beautiful room with al the little details thought about. We will definitely stay again but next time for longer. Gorgeous outdoor areas too

Only issue was my door lock wouldn’t open with the fob or key code at one stage and I couldn’t get into the room and no one around or call to offer assistance . I did message the mobile number to give me instructions but nothing back . Also the key fob keyring is massive and heavy ! I actually went out and left the key in my car as I didn’t want to lug it around with me so had to take my car key out instead lol . All that being said was a brilliant place and will use again

The property was full of charm lots of lovely finishing touches and a fridge the little court yard was very pleasant

The shower tray filled up and wet the outer floor and bath mat but was on a slant so didn’t flood which was of slight concern at first however this lovely property more than made up for that.

To be clear, Sebastian's Hotel is not a hotel in the conventional sense. There is no reception, enquiry desk, or on-site staff. In reality, it operates more like a self-service Airbnb, with no face-to-face contact at any stage. While this arrangement may work when everything functions as intended, it becomes problematic when there are technical issues, as we experienced. In my view, the website does not make this operating model sufficiently clear. Communication with the proprietors is limited to a video intercom located at the front entrance on the main street. Upon arrival from the difficult-to-find car park at the rear, the access code to our room repeatedly failed to work, despite us having received several confirmation and reminder emails beforehand. So assuming there would be a reception, I went to the front entrance, only to discover that the “Hotel” premises at the front were completely closed, contrary to the impression given by photos on the website. After some time, I eventually managed to speak to someone on the intercom, who remotely unlocked the door to our room from an off-site location. This raised an obvious concern: what would guests do in the event of a power cut, internet outage, cyber incident, or poor mobile signal that prevented access to the system? Without any staff on site, gaining entry could become impossible. Our experience left us far from impressed. A fully automated, unmanned operation is only as reliable as the technology it depends upon, and when that technology fails, there appears to be no effective on-site support. The hotel's website should be more transparent about the absence of staff and the potential limitations of its self-service model.

Booked as previously stayed with Sebastian prior to new owners as location is suitable to where we need to visit.

I’ll start with the good: Clean bedding, good communication from owners, friendly housekeeping lady, free parking, nice lounge area and use of kitchen, nicely done bathroom. Nice use of original features, overhead beams etc. Lovely cafe (Brambles) over the road for snacks and breakfast. The not so good: Our room (4) is not listed/featured on the website as was more part of a bigger separate building with other bedrooms, lounge area and kitchen. Strangely there was a bolt lock on the outside of the door - not the inside - which was a little disconcerting. The complimentary croissants were 5 days out of date, the ‘fresh’ milk in the fridge had gone off and was lumpy. The handwash, showergel and shampoo in the bathroom were an awful yellow/brown colour like they’d gone stagnant. A few cobwebs etc around and bedroom wall could do with a spruce up as there’s evidence of a leak running down the wall. With a little attention to detail this could be a gem. The other rooms off the courtyard/ground floor did look much nicer/modern although wasn’t able to see in detail.

Amazing place to stay. We had the king room. Nice touch with the breakfast snacks and fridge. Lovely courtyard to sit outside. And good for parking.

We had booked a room to stay at the end of May 2026. A few days before our booking I unfortunately injured my back and could not walk or drive at all so had to cancel my booking. The hotel totally ignored my request to refund me or even change my booking to a later date so we did not totally lose our money. They will not even answer my messages. Cold hearted they are. I will be avoiding this place in future. No customer care at all.

The room and setting were lovely, peaceful even though just off the busy street. Breakfast items and hot drinks were a nice touch.

Not sure about not liking, but having no reception area was a bit strange. Or did we miss it? No issues though as staff replied to messages promptly.

Great location with very modern facilities and privacy - mush better than all hotels.

Changed the combination on a lock on the final night of our stay and we were not advised; it caused a delayed departure on a BH Monday but was worth the inconvenience - great place, will consider again.

positives first. Clean room bedding really lovely. Lovely welcome gifts (biscuits, apples oranges and teas) coffee machine great addition room nice size. Bathroom good size too. Negatives :- I hated the long frosted windows from the bathroom into where the bed is. So if you get caught short in the night put the bathroom light on the whole darn room lights up waking your husband! Not a good idea. Pillows very lumpy and hard. Only four coat hangers we stayed two nights ! No reception no one around. This place is more like an Airbnb but with a cleaner in the mornings. We had trouble with the loo wouldn’t flush no one to call midnight coz no reception! Had to wait till morning to use the number left for emergencies. Although they were very efficient and fixed it straight away except broke the following day. We got very handy with using the bin to flush the necessary! We had a large comfortable room with a modern very clean bathroom and tea/ coffee and biscuits available. The bed was huge and comfy. Altogether excellent value for money and a very pleasant stay!

It is a cute property, well located and very clean. There was parking and the host was friendly. Great shower and like having fresh milk for our coffee and tea in the morning. Nice refrigerator.

Lots of very steep stairs to get to our room, no breakfast available because the owners are new, the host was never on site. It was very hot and we only had a fan to try to cool the room, which did not work well.

Central location, easy to walk into town. Room was well appointed. Great shower. Parking was easy. 11am check out was nice.

Outside noise carried through the shut windows. Especially the boy racer exhausts on Friday night, and the bin men at 7am on Saturday morning. We booked room 2, for it rustic charm, but I caught my head on the beam in the bathroom and the one above the stairs.

No one on site - Did not meet a single member of staff. The bathroom in particular needs some tlc. One of our bath towels was wet - but only in the middle - as though it had been used previously. Very limited car parking. Breakfast basket was poor. One of the rooms had non stop dripping toilet with broken handle.

Location suited our needs

A few things were disappointing, such as the heating was not on and the room was very cold, (however, staff did rectify it when we were able to get hold of them), there was a leak from the toilet rail, and the bed ;(although the four poster looked pleasant) was small and very squeaky with a very squashy mattress. We probably would not stay again.

Excellent location, room is adequate size and has all amenities .Seamless and rapid check in and out.Fridge in the room is a big bonus. I had a query on the invoice for my stay nad my email was answered in less than half an hour

The hotel used to be staff and has switched to self check-in. Despite the advantages stated above, i prefer to be greeted by a person. Also it is quite expensive for a room only hotel (the basket of cookies etc offered cannot be considered breakfast)

The room was very comfortable and very well stocked and as there was no breakfast they had provided some fresh fruit as well as biscuits. The walk in shower was wonderful and the bed large and comfortable. We had asked for a ground floor room and this was provided and the good directions to the car park were very welcome. In addition, the location was perfect for us and the security code access meant we could come and go at any time.

Room was fine and tea coffee and snacks were well stocked. Heating was responsive.

Overpriced for the area and with no breakfast available. Another guest had trouble getting in to their room. I tried to help but the code didn’t appear to work. I showed them where I had received the reception sign and whilst we rang twice no one answered and there was no number to ring. I emailed the contact email but got no response. So customer service would be rated as zero.

It’s clean and everything was provided including good coffee and welcome snacks of fruit biscuits and croissants . It was quiet and felt safe when inside room .

I had difficulty on arrival . I was uncertain about the parking as there was a small car park with 4 cars already there and I parked obstructing the gate at the bottom left of the car park and was nervous I might be blocking that gate .in the end I left a note . I was phoning emergency no of care taker to ask how to get into my room but that when onto answer phone . I couldn’t find a key safe and it was dark .Finally I realised the code was on the doors but you can’t see that in the dark . On the third attempt the front door bell responded and flashed me into my room .Reception was firmly closed up at 9.45 pm with no one around and there was no reception this morning at 10 so I gave keys to the cleaner . It was all a bit spooky at 9.45 pm at night . I am not sure where the Townhouse is ?

Our request for an earlier breakfast was accepted without any fuss. The breakfast was very good in a relax environment. We booked three rooms and all were comfortable and well specced. The location was fine for exploring Oswestry and catching up with family and friends.

The only slight negative was the TV reception is poor.

What a fantastic place to stay. Parking available. The room was immaculate as was the en-suite. Lovely extras in the room including a type of continental breakfast. Ideally situated for bars and cafes a like. It is in a quiet,safe and secure area. Loved it.

We did not immediately understand that we would not meet anybody and there was a bit of confusion about there being no reception. It was not a problem in the end, but if you'd like to check in, in person and / or have a chat during your stay, this is not for you.
