I think this was one of my best hostels in NZ! The place has a chilled vibe, all the facilities are tidy and the hot bath outside is amazing! I also loved the 90s vibe of the place :) I would come back for sure!

AVOID THIS PLACE. The accommodation may be cheap, but my experience with the management made it absolutely not worth it. I arrived at approximately midnight and accidentally took two keys without noticing. There was no clear phone number or after-hours contact information available to resolve any problem. The following morning I was told that another guest had been unable to stay because the second key was with me, and the owner demanded that I pay for that person’s accommodation. I acknowledge taking the extra key was my mistake. What I do not accept is the way the owner handled it. A professionally managed lodge should have an emergency contact number, spare-key procedure, or another way to deal with a situation like this instead of confronting a guest the next morning and demanding money. I paid because I did not want an argument and simply wanted to leave. The atmosphere was so uncomfortable that another guest, who had intended to stay for three nights, left after one night. I will not return. Based on my experience, I would advise other travellers to stay elsewhere.

Great location

Nikki and Gary are fabulous hosts. This place is amazing . It's so homely, and they have given thought to everything you could possibly want or need. There's a computer, pool table, table tennis, a little spa, a lovely outdoor space, a music lounge, copious dvds and games, and breakfast! Thank you for a perfect stay. Next time we'll make time to enjoy it all.

Top notch hostel

O hostel fica bem próximo do centro (cerca de 12 minutos andando). O ambiente é muito tranquilo e traz uma sensação de relaxamento. Voltaria novamente!

The atmosphere is so cozy that you will actually feel sorry to leave! I loved the reading room, the lounge, the very spacious kitchen full of everything you might need, and the spa! There is a little spa outside where you can soak in, and during the winter months it’s just absolutely amazing, especially after a hike! The staff is exceptionally friendly, they gave me so many advices on the hikes to do in town that I didn’t really even need any online research! I loved my stay at Tombstone, I will definitely be back one day :)

It is a great lodge to stay in Picton with great facilities. Highly recommended and if I want to stay in Picton again I’ll book this one again .

I traveled with some very expensive work equipment in my vehicle and wasn't keen to park down the carpark below and the lady let me park at the top behind her vehicle which i felt my belongings were hundred percent safe.

Garry was very friendly and helpful. The place is reasonably clean and smells good. It definitely is value for money. The location was great because it was a 5-10 minutes walk to the town and the cruise we wanted to go to.

to enter a room, you must go through the bathroom first, but they were reasonably clean..

J'y ai dormi une nuit avant de prendre mon ferry, l'hostel est sympa et propre et les propriétaires sont vraiment chouette.

Easy walk from the ferry terminal. Hosts are very accommodating and friendly. Basic breakfast was appreciated - toast and jam or on occasion home-made scones. We made use of their bicycles to explore Picton. Beds were comfortable. Room and ensuite was tight but comfy for the price.

Could do with some hooks/shelf in the small ensuite bathroom.

Loved everything host was very welcoming and loved the rooms and shared facilities, spa is beautiful with amazing views

Super logement un peu à l'écart du centre ( tout reste à proximité) Les hôtes sont très accueillants et l'hébergement très propre !! Le lit est très confortable et le lieu très bien équipé je recommande vivement !!

Great location to ferry, easy walk to town centre. Caravan is always our option when staying. Facilities very good.

Was in town for a boxing tournament and this motel was the best place to rest and recover after a 8hr drive. Everything was clean, well thought out and the owners are very friendly, kind and considerate. Everything had instructions and notes in case you were unsure. The spa was delightful with an amazing view. The shower pressure was great and heats up well. The bunk beds in the top rooms were the most comfortable I’ve ever been in a long time, completely knocked out. There is a small gym, pool table, dart board and ping pong table that my children enjoyed. The free breakfast was the cherry on top, good variety of foods, sometimes toast or cereals, always tea coffee sugar and milk left out, scones and accompaniments are delish and not something seen at other motels. The shared bathroom/shower area had a hair dryer and straightener. The place was clean and tidy but very homey and easy to relax in. Communal eating area, many living room spaces and tables to enjoy, lots of games and always warm. Very much enjoyed our stay and look forward to coming back :)

Cet établissement est exceptionnel! Je n'ai pas fait d'autres auberges de ce niveau en NZ. Les hôtes sont très gentils et le petit déjeuner est fabuleux (je me souviendrai longtemps des scones). Des vélos et un jacuzzi sont en libre service pour les invités. La cuisine est grande et équipée. Une buanderie est disponible à petit prix. Un grand salon avec des films et des canapés super confortable vous attendent pour les mauvais jours. Les chambres sont agréables et confortables. Je suis restée 3 nuits car mon ferry avait été annulé et ça a été avec plaisir. Les hôtes m'ont conseillé de très jolies randonnées et proposent des offres intéressantes en collaboration avec des compagnies de bateaux pour découvrir les fjords. La localisation est idéale si vous partez avec Bluebridge. Je recommande fortement et j'espère y repasser un jour.

We came over on the ferry not sure what to expect however it has a great edge to it, truly worth a stay.

La localisation près de la navette de Bluebridge ferry. Le calme, la propreté, la gentillesse de l'équipe, le petit-déjeuner offert. Tous les petits salons pour se retrouver loin de l'espace sommeil. La douche et le tapis de bain pour s'habiller au sec.

Cet établissement est très bien sur plusieurs plans malheureusement j'ai du enlever 2 points, il manque un peu d'intimité aux lits d'autant que le dortoir où j'étais était mixte. Il aurait fallu un petit rideau pour ne pas avoir la lumière dans les yeux. Mais d'autres personnes l'ont déjà dit et la direction n'en tient pas compte, c'est dommage! Je pense qu'on peut augmenter le prix de 1 ou 2 Euros par lit pour couvrir le prix du tissu et ce sera alors LA meilleure auberge de Picton.

A staff member said she would put bread, butter and spreads in the fridge so we could have an early breakfast. She remembered the butter and spreads, but there was no bread. Very disappointing.

Everything was fine. Understanding that property on a hill has some issues, but they have been worked to the best situation.

Convenient for late night arrival of f the ferry. Clear instructions to access my room. Quiet, clean. Making my own breakfast was homely and adequate.

L’emplacement n’est pas des plus sympas, entre un cimetière, le parking d’un ferry et une station service. Mais cela reste proche du centre-ville. Matériel un peu vieillot, même si le nécessaire est là. Petit-déjeuner assez sommaire (pain, beurre, confiture).

Very friendly and helpful staff, just had a lovely atmosphere of a home from home. Spotlessly clean everywhere, the communal areas were well equipped and thought out.

Eigentlich nichts so richtig. Das Personal war freundlich.

Leider liegt das Hotel direkt oberhalb einer Kreuzung, an der auch nachts viele große Trucks verkehren. Die hörte man die ganze Zeit. Aus Versehen hatten wir den Caravan gemietet. Der wenig komfortabel war. Die Anlage für die Duschen und Toiletten war wie in einem Backpacker zu erwarten nicht so sauber. Das viel gelobte Frühstück bestand aus Kaffee/Tee und Toast und Marmelade. Hatte ich mir besser vorgestellt.

Rooms were very hot and fan was in a fixed position

we had the family room in the backpacker area, it was really big (bigger than the family room with the bathroom) and the toilets are indoors in the same hallway. Also our room was right by the spa which was awesome.

Because this room is on the front it's a bit noisier. Not anything crazy but because we had stayed in the family room as well we noticed this. Found the beds comfier in the family room with bathroom (both are comfy enough just fyi)
