Fantastic! In my opinion, it's the best place to stay in Sayulita. The courtyard area was a beautiful haven away from the hustle and bustle of the town - super safe and secure. The rooms are beautiful, AC and fan super comfortable. Internet good. The breakfast was excellent. The housekeeping and groundskeeping crew were fantastic - they keep the place pristine. The manager, Martin,is fantastic - he is the nicest guy ever and super genuine. The dogs are super cute and chill. 100% recommend.

There is nothing to not like about it!

We like the vibe and Martin and staff are all so accommodating!

La amabilidad del personal, hermosas instalaciones y su tranquilidad

Excellent service, disponibilité et amabilité de Martin et de son staff, confort, calme et propreté Très bon petit déjeuner

Breakfast was amazing, staff were wonderful, room was comfortable and the pool was great. Located just 5 minutes away from town, a nice walk, away from the noise. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

All great. Extremely nice host, fantastic retreat, good breakfast, comfy room and bed.

Nothing to dislike.

Quiet, clean, and super friendly staff.

Everything was perfect

Because of political unrest we decided to cancel our trip. We were eligible for 1/2 refund when we decided to cancel. The hotel was very generous in giving us a full refund. For that they deserve a high rating!

You should stay here! A sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of Sayulita. Beautiful grounds, large clean and modern rooms. Located in a quiet area close to town, a great breakfast with multiple choices and good coffee. The staff are very friendly and the owner speaks great English.

That we didn’t stay here all week! Absolutely nothing to complain about!

Everything was perfect , the room size was big, everyday we had room service, nice fan and AC, the kitchen tap water was filtered so we didn't need to buy water , the staff were so nice and friendly , breakfast was great , the pool and lounges were perfect, the room had everything you need ( blow dryer , iron, smoothie maker , two different coffee maker , kitchen ware , nice body lotion, even Beach blanket It was a great and lovely stay 😊

Nothing

The location was perfect - just off the main area. The breakfast was amazing, lots of shade near the pool area, and the room itself was very clean and perfect for what we needed.

Very Beutiful serenity at a Mexicain charm

Nothing to mention very nice Casa.

Oh! Where to start… the rooms were fantastic! Having filtered water out of the faucet is a game changer! The kitchenette was well stocked, we blended our smoothies and made snacks everyday. The breakfast was also a nice treat! They had espressos drinks, fresh fruit, yogurt and cereal. PLUS, the choice of hot meals (Chilaquiles, omelet, pancakes, huevos rancheros and more). The pool was a nice place to unwind each day with plenty of areas to lounge. It’s an easy five minute walk to the main square and about the same to the beach. Close enough to be in the action far enough a way to sleep quietly and comfortably. This will be the only place we stay in Sayulita when we come back. The staff is also WONDERFUL.

Absolutely nothing

Very quiet, clean and comfortable. Excellent staff.

Perfect location with all the amenities you need to enjoy a short or long stay. The property manager, Martin, was exceptional — he was dedicated and kind, with a great sense of humour. The two dogs were also a wonderful addition! The rooms were kept extremely clean and tidy. The breakfast was convenient and relaxing.

Quiet. Amazing location. Great breakfast. Amazing staff. Clean, attractive, well maintained and beautiful facilities.

Leaving :(

There was so much I loved. The location was perfect, being near the town centre, but just far and private enough to be quiet. The grounds are absolutely stunning; it was a pleasure to just spend time at the pool or on the patio, taking in the beautiful courtyard, day or night. The staff were incredibly welcoming and kind and take so much care in what they do. The water filtration system at the kitchen and bathroom sinks meant that we never had to think about water, we just filled up our glasses or bottles. Having stayed other places in Mexico on our trip, this felt like an understated luxury. Everything was immaculately clean. The bed was very comfortable. The kitchenette was well-appointed with everything you’d need and the room had thoughtful closet space that made our lives easier not having to live out of our bags. Everything here felt like it was chosen with thought and intention. We always remarked upon returning from our day’s adventure how happy we were that we chose this place as it just felt like coming home to a beautiful retreat with everything we needed!

Quiet. Martine and his staff are excellent. Very secure.

Only source of fresh air is your door. Otherwise there is no window that opens. The 2 bedroom suite has patio doors

Clean and modern- good breakfast The best pet of our stay was Lara. She was exceptional in every way - helpful, kind, accommodating

10/10 I love it

The host Martin is very nice and very helpful. The Hotel is very clean and de rooms are good. The breakfast is very good to

I enjoy my time there, everything was well

Let me start by saying Martin Gonzales the concierge is the absolute best of the best! He keeps the grounds immaculate, and makes sure all your wants and needs are taken care of. The hotel Casa De La Ballena is a short walk to the center of Sayulita, and offers peace and tranquility. The rooms are very clean, and have everything you will need. i forgot to mention the breakfast was delicious, cappuccino, OJ, Mexican scrambled eggs, or hotcakes all made from scratch. I cant recommend this place enough. thank you Martin...We love you!!!

Casa de la Ballena is a wonderful oasis in Sayulita. Only a 10min walk from the main beach, yet a world away -- no outside noise, dust, or mosquitos! The pool and lounge chairs in the central courtyard are well maintained, and beach towels and blankets are provided at no extra charge -- nice! The rooms are modern with small kitchenettes -- perfect if you like to make the occasional meal and stay indoors for dinner. The hotel Manager, Martin, and his team were friendly and happy to accommodate early arrival or late departure. We can't recommend this place enough!

Fantastic! The "salsa roja" is out of this world

The place was amazing. The staff were all awesome we loved the pool, the room, and the breakfast. The place also had a really nice gym.

Nothing

Well kept grounds, lovely room and nice breakfast with an easy walk into town

Beautiful and peaceful property perfect for our first visit to Sayulita. Included breakfast every morning, the best breakfasts I've had in the last few years of travel in US and Asia. The friendly property manager provided top notch service everyday so we could truly enjoy our mini-vacation. I plan to return and I am recommending Casa de la Ballena to friends and family.

The hot breakfast was excellent and included wonderful fresh fruit.

Everything was fantastic

Martin & the staff were awesome! They worked hard to make sure we had a comfortable stay. The enclosed courtyard with the outdoor pool & hot tub were well maintained & very clean. It was so relaxing to hang out there. We will definitely be back.

Casa de la Bellena was wonderful! The rooms are spacious and the bed comfortable. It was nice to have a little kitchenette in the room. The grounds were lovely and well kept. The location is perfect being right in town, but the hotel grounds itself is fully enclosed, so you feel like you are in your own little paradise. It was such a nice surprise to a breakfast menu to choose from and the food and coffee was delicious. Martin and his staff were so welcoming and helpful with our questions. We will be staying there again!

There was nothing that I would improve upon.

Martin was very attentive from check in to check out. Very nice breakfast included. Wonderful quiet and comfortable room. We also loved the pool and enclosed rooftop gym. Very romantic place.

This was a peaceful oasis in a busy place. The rooms were beautiful and spacious with polished concrete floors, a little kitchenette with a full sized fridge, a comfortable couch and bed. The location was excellent to the centre square of the town (less than 5 minute walk). The staff were super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fantastic in the beautiful courtyard. The gym is spacious, has relatively new equipment, and is air conditioned. There is also a great view from the gym!

Our stay here was amazing! The property is so well kept and clean, the amenities are great, and the host is wonderful. We felt comfortable and relaxed during our stay. We cannot wait to come back!

What a beautiful location. Our room was large and clean. The pool area was beautiful. The breakfast was very good. But best of all, the staff was so friendly and accommodating. (My friend spoke Spanish so that helped, but they speak English there too.) Someone recommended it to me and I'm so glad I chose it. I highly recommend it too.

This place was great! I’ve stayed at a bunch of places in Sayulita and absolutely loved Casa ballena. The staff (Martin and his team) were fantastic. Highly recommend

This was an exceptional stay with such warm lovely humans (and bonus dogs!)

I hate to say anything bad but the lighting in the rooms could be a bit more warm. You know it was a good stay when that’s all I’ve got

Wonderful hosts, clean, safe.

Wonderful, small property. Rooms were perfect and nicely furnished. Breakfast was always really great. Gym on the upper floor was well equipt. Felt totally safe, comfortable and quiet.

The peaceful setting with a beautiful garden and pool, the rooms are very comfortable and the staff is exceptional. Breakfast has many options and the chill at the pool music is relaxing.

Nothing, it was really magical. The pups, Layca and Maya were helping Martin with the various duties.

Martin and his staff were very nice.

Amazing place. Great design, very comfortable and a perfect distance from city center. Short walk and very quiet. Really great stay.

Wonderful all around. Clean, close enough to the action to walk to easily. Just far enough to be quiet. Breakfast was fantastic every time. I seriously can't wait to go back.

Martin is a great host very attractive

Martin and staff were excellent, attentive, and accommodating. Would highly recommend this spot. Martín y su equipo fueron excelentes, atentos y serviciales. Recomendaría este lugar ampliamente.

Stay longer lol

Friendly staff, breakfast was great, love the vibe of the courtyard with the pool! Gym was great too.

Exceptional customer service, breakfasts made to order, very well appointed and clean room.

I had events at night by the ocean for a wedding. It was dark and wasn't very well lit at parts between there and the hotel, so felt more comfortable grabbing someone to walk me back to the hotel. It probably wouldn't have bothered me if I travelled with someone or had a companion.

Am amazing place. We will be back. Martin is the best host you could ask for!

Everything about my stay was lovely. check in was easy, the room very clean and comfortable, bed was extra comfy, loved the option for breakfast in the morning, the pool and courtyard area was beautiful and relaxing and the hotel felt very safe and secure. The hotel was very close to town but was peaceful and quiet. Martin and the rest of the staff were very accommodating, attentive and kind. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and would stay again if I found myself back in Sayulita.

Nothing because he overcharged me

There is no open door entrance to get in. There was not any staff working there only one man and he overcharged me 🤡

Beautiful, clean, boutique hotel! Martin was lovely, and so accommodating. He was very helpful answering any questions! Many extra lovely touches, with the excellent coffee, delicious breakfast, and great location close to town but away from the noise. Will definitely return!

Nothing

I love everything about this hotel. Feels like home but at the same time such a luxurious place. Everyone in service was amazing (specially Martin, the guy in charge). I couldn’t recommend enough this place. The location, everything.

Absolutely stunning hotel, spacious and comfortable rooms. It was quiet and so close to town.

Gorgeous villa in a safe, private area. All the amenities from the pool to the gym to breakfast were great. This place really puts thought into the details with outdoor shower to rinse sand off, beach towels, and linen robes. The huge table and pull out couch in the room made it comfortable to work remotely. The staff were so hospitable and tended to any needs we had thru WhatsApp.

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at the Casa de la Ballena, even with 5 days of rain. The rooms, pool, hot tub and grounds were beautiful. The perfect relaxing environment. The hotel was also in a great location, close enough to easily walk to town but far enough to be quiet in the evening during sleeping time. What made our stay perfect was the on-site hotel manager, Martin. Martin was an outstanding host and helped us with any issues we had, from driving us to town to find an IT store to fix our dead cell phone, helping secure parking for our golf cart rental and arranging airport transportation. He made sure we were happy with all of our time at the Casa de la Ballena. The hotel was a special place with special staff. And, the breakfast is awesome, with many delicious options.

The only thing I can say we didn't like - was that the hot water in the shower did not stay hot very long, about 8 minutes then start to cool. My wife found it a little challenging shampooing and rinsing her hair, but she made it work and the hot water would reheat fast after the shower. A few days we had to make it a two-shower day, but that was okay.

Great reasonably priced well maintained property.

The garden

We enjoyed the beautiful property, whether lounging at the pool or sitting in the dining area. The hard-working staff was very pleasant and it was a joy to walk into our lovely super-clean room at the end of a busy day. Martin, the manager, was helpful, no matter the request. The room was spacious and the little kitchen had everything necessary to prepare a meal. Only 5 minutes walk or less, to the beach and the town! If I had to come up with one suggestion, it would be to add grab bars in the shower. Otherwise, it’s a lovely oasis!

The small hotel was absolutely perfect. Martin was incredibly sweet. No noise in the evenings which was so nice. Calm, private, clean & super relaxing. The included breakfast & lattes were delicious too! I would highly recommend this property if you are looking for a serene/chill vibe.

The property itself is beautiful, very well maintained and landscaped. The landscapers/cleaning employees were terrific and very much keep up the property. Our king room was a great size, very quality materials/cabinetry. The pictures online don't quite show how pretty and well made the hotel is.

The breakfast was fine, nothing above and beyond. It was fresh cooked. Small plate of fruit, no salsas or special pastries or juices that I'd expect at a more expensive place like this hotel. The hotel reviews about how quiet this hotel is what made me book it. Their rules are quite strict that if you party or disrupt other tenants that you can be asked to leave. However, one night there was a loud bass party that lasted from 2:00am to 4:00am. We could hear other guests trying to figure out where the party was coming from. We figured it was from a neighbor to the hotel. In the morning I found out it was from the owner and his friends that had come to stay at the private penthouse (not accessible by guests) & had a party. We were so tired in the morning and I felt that the owner (who i didn't meet) was very rude and insensitive. A double standard. It seemed to put the hotel manager in an awkward position, and he seemed stressed the entire length of our stay. He was kind but not overly friendly like I had seen in prior review. I don't believe the owner lives there, I think he was there on holiday. It was only one of the nights we were there. Only a few rooms were booked for the remainder of our stay, I don't know if others left coincidentally at this time or because of this party.

safe, very well kept property with great staff! We had a perfect time staying here, it's quite and far from noise but also close to everything you need.

Loved staying here! Martin who runs the property was incredibly kind and helpful. Clean and safe property that’s closed to the public. Rooms are chic and spacious!

It’s a quiet refuge in a beautiful town - close to everything. The property is clean, modern, with a wonderful courtyard and pool, open 24x7. Plus rooms are so quiet you can’t hear any outside noise. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Also very safe, including the water that is filtered.

Beautifully landscaped property with comfortable, clean , well appointed rooms. Tons of dining and shopping options within walking distance. The host, Martin was gracious and kind. Check in and out were extremely easy.

comfy beds, nice shower, linens, towels, breakfast included. friendly stuff

smell of cleaning products, music at the pool area.

Beautiful property. Very well maintained and managed by Martin. A little haven in Sayulita, close to the centre but far enough away from the hustle and bustle. Highly recommend this property. The rooms are spacious, beds very comfortable and kitchenette well equipped.

That I had to leave!

Loved everything. Location. Decor. Amenities. And stopppp drop everything bc the sound proof! WOW.

Maybe the construction happening but it didn’t bother us.

Everything was perfect

If you are looking for a quiet, cute and relaxing place within 5 minutes away from downtown Sayulita and beach this is place. Thank you for amazing hospitality and the delicious breakfast was plus.

I liked that the hotel public spaces were private from the rest of the town in a little courtyard style area.

Very clean and amazing costumer service! Staff is very attentive. Martin answered all questions and made our stay very enjoyable.

private, quiet, serene setting, just the right distance from town and noise. Staff was great and even met owner who was gracious.

Internet was spotty.

Location was perfect, slight hill to get to hotel - not enough to make you huff and puff but enough to feel good in your body. It was about a 5-10 min walk to the main plaza, downtown where all the shops and restaurants were. It was about a 10 min walk to Sayulita beach and maybe 25 min walk/hike through some jungle to both Carricitos and Muertos beach. Ma Pasa beach was VERY secluded, was able to sunbathe and get in the ocean nude. That was a little past Sayulita beach-maybe a 30 min nice hike, can either go over the rocks or through the jungle. I ended up going there 3 days in a row. Amazing and grounding energy there. The hotel was in the perfect location in my opinion, far enough from the town so you didn't hear the music all night, so you could get some sleep-but close enough to walk to everything pretty quickly. The first night I was there, Friday night, did get a little loud. Earplugs completely drowned that out though. Fri and Sat can be like that. AC was nice and cold. Internet was in and out but fine for what I needed it for, was wanting to mostly digital detox while I was there anyway. Was good enough to check on things back home here and there. The staff there were lovely, very heartwarming and hospitable. I can't say enough good things about them. I am vegan and gluten free and they were able to cater my breakfast to my diet.

Heavily scented cleaning products. The scent was nice and fragrant but I am super sensitive to smells and get migraines often. It helped a little when I took the air freshener out of the room. If you aren't sensitive to smells-it won't bother you and you'd probably find the smell enjoyable. Other than that, no complaints at all and I wouldn't really consider that a complaint.

Comfortable stay, delicious breakfast, quiet location, spotlessly clean. The service is top-notch. Martin runs a tight ship.

quiet, peaceful boutique hotel close to center of sayulita, but away from the bustle and noise. deluxe king room was very comfortable. Rooms did an excellent job of keeping sound out from any chatter in the courtyard or from neighboring rooms. Well sized, very nice bathroom and great mattress. Having the kitchenette was nice for our 8 day stay. Staff was very kind and helpful. Pool area was just the right size for the number of guest. This is great place if you are looking for a peaceful retreat and not the party scene.

Everything was great

I highly recommend Casa de la Ballena. Martin and his staff are amazing. Very responsive and always looking to accommodate their guests. The breakfasts are delicious (pro tip: go for the huevos rancheros divorciados!).
