Garda House

A little smaller in size throughout than presented in the images. But plenty space for us (4 adults) as we used it as a base and spent most of our time out and about.

We were on a multiple location holiday over 3 weeks and partly booked this accom for location convenience aswell as the washing machine and dryer facility. With no pre warning- the glass door of the machine just had a note saying not working so we ended up taking our laundry to the closest laundromat… not ideal. Kitchen amenities-cutlery, utensils should have been cleaned before we got there, plus there was not enough of each for 4 people!! Equally the living area and kitchen combined area was not big enough for 4 of us tye sit and watch tv or just relax.

Firmer beds. No where to put jackets.

This is a great property in a great location, however the photos the advertise were not the apartment itself

The front of the building on the outside was very unkept windows and doors very very muck. All I need was a good cleaning. Also the staircasing more cleaning attention needs to be done there, and little small touches in the apartment. Are you either Blinds and window frames could’ve done with a better cleaning

Location was ok - very hard to get parking

We stayed at Guarda House for two nights and unfortunately were quite disappointed with the standard of the apartment. The main issue was the cleanliness. While there wasn’t rubbish left around, the apartment simply didn’t feel like it had been properly cleaned before our arrival. The floors were dirty, the bathroom was not particularly clean, and the towels provided on arrival were very dirty. I contacted the owner about the towels during our stay but unfortunately received no response, which was disappointing. Overall, the apartment just didn’t feel clean or comfortable, and we never really felt settled during our stay. It’s a shame as the property has potential, but the standard of cleanliness and lack of response when we raised an issue really let it down.

You cannot beat the location! A half block from the center of town. I was a little worried when entering the building and being blinded by the shocking red carpet😄 But…the apartment is very nice and tastefully decorated. We were able to park in the lot of the building both days. Our stay was short so we basically only slept and showered there. The tiny kitchen had nice appliances that we didn’t use. There are several little coffee shops and cafes within a half block. And of course pubs! The photos included are the view from the apartment living room and main bedroom. So quaint 🩷

It was in a great location – walking distance to just about everything Kinsale. The apartment was bigger than it looks in the photographs and it was generally clean and comfortable.

We were very lucky to find a parking space behind the apartment when we arrived, but for some guests parking could be an issue. The small patio area behind our back door was dirty and looked scruffy. It needs attention. There were cigarettes lying around and it looked a bit tatty. There was some noise from the apartment above, but thankfully it didn’t go on too late. It would’ve helped if a couple of bottles of water had been placed in the fridge, as this was a basic provision everywhere else we stayed. There were dispensers for toiletries in the bathroom, but the hand soap beside the wash basin and the body wash in the shower were both empty.

Great location, easy walk to restaurants , pubs and shops. Comfortable bed, good shower.

The proprietor said he sent us info via booking.com with access info to the apartment, which we never received (and have still not received 4 days later). He was not on the premises when we arrived at 5:50 pm after driving from Dublin and flying from the west coast of the US. He ignored my phone calls and texts asking for access. Fortunately the helpful proprietor of the inn across from Garda House tracked him down at a coffee shop. The Garda proprietor was hostile and rude and seemed quite willing to just leave us hanging with nowhere to go for the night (Kinsale was all booked up). He finally gave us the code over the phone, begrudgingly. Not a good experience.

Parking was free nearby !! Amazing for a busy town like Kinsale.Location central close to all amenities.

Die Lage im Zentrum in der Nähe zu den kulturellen und gastronomischen Einrichtungen! Gegenüber der katholischen Kirche! Alle Wanderrouten waren fussläufig erreichbar! Hafennähe! Wir haben den Aufenthalt genossen!

Mit dem Bad mussten wir uns erst anfreunden, ein Zettel zur Erklärung der Dusche hing blass an der Wand! Das Handwaschbecken war verstopft und das Wasser lief auch nach Reinigung der Rohrleitung nicht ab!

Ideal location nice and peaceful 2 minute walk from anything you could need and the apartment was really cozy

Location is exceptional, a 2 min walk from the middle of town but tucked away in a quiet street. Self check in was via a lock box, this was good but I had not been informed of this until last minute and as a result I had rushed and stressed throughout my 7hr car journey unnecessarily as I thought I had to meet the host for the designated time.

The accommodation was basic and a little dated, of a hostel standard but clean with readily available hot water and very effective electric heaters. Car park at the rear door was full but we were able to park in the larger free library car park 2min walk away.

The apartment is in a great location with easy key box access, Wi-Fi, warm water, and a spacious layout. The kitchen is nice but lacks basic dishes and pans. The two double bed mattresses were adequate but not comfortable. The sleeper sofa was unusable, no sheets or blankets, and the pad was badly soiled. The whole place needs a deep clean. Only two kitchen chairs for a family of four, and not enough towels (those provided were thin and had holes). I contacted the property about missing bedding but got no response even after 2 emails and 1 WhatsApp. With better upkeep, bedding and communication, this could be a solid stay. I would have booked elsewhere had I known.

The rugs and floor were very dirty, under the beds filthy. Sofa worn, uncomfortable and grubby.

Kinsale is so pituresque. People were welcoming, friendly and helpful. Weather was perfect!

Amenities not as great as other properties we stayed in, no extras or nice touches but a nice overall stay. Washing machine was badly needed but decommissioned for some reason which wasn’t clear.

The property manager was wasn't the nicest person. Our key codes for each apartment was mixed up. Difficult to find the property. The apartment was nice, but could hear footstep from apartment above. Main reason l chose the apartment was for the washing machine, only to be told it can't be used. Washing machine & tv didn't work.

Lovely location and quiet, quaint accomn

Issue with plumbing/piping which meant the bathroom smelled very very badly by the final day of our trip. I suspect this was noticed before our arrival as on arrival the accom had been cleaned with a considerable amount of bleach which masked the smell initially but was also very intense…

The apartment is in a convenient location, making it easy to get around and access shops and restaurants. It also has the basic facilities you’d expect, so it was functional for my stay. That said, while the space was surface clean, it was in real need of a deep clean to feel properly fresh and comfortable. I also had some issues with communication. I reached out to the host when I couldn’t find the apartment and again when the washing machine didn’t work. Unfortunately, I received a rude response when I was lost and no response at all regarding the washing machine. For international visitors, a bit of grace and understanding would be expected, especially when navigating a new place. Overall, the apartment has potential thanks to its location and setup, but it would be a much better experience with more thorough cleaning and more supportive, considerate communication from the host.

Great location. And that’s where it ends. We checked ourselves in to find a very dirty apartment- sticky and dirty floors, a sofa bed and extra blanket that smelled of urine, non-working appliances and threadbare towels. The property manager is only on duty until 6 pm, so we didn’t receive assistance until the next day at 9 am. The apartment was deep cleaned the next day. It should have never been rented in that condition. And no offer to compensate us.

Good location. We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment and it was good for a group of 4. The bathroom is nice and modern.

It was hard to find and the host was completely unresponsive during our stay. The instructions for finding the property were unclear. It took us one hour to find and the host did not answer our calls nor respond to our message when we had informed him in advance of the time we would arrive (6pm - not an unreasonable time). No checkout instructions either on how to lock the lockbox etc.

the washing machine was broken, there was no sweeping brush to sweep up, only one tea towel and no kitchen towel and the shower was leaking so not much water from the head.

Kitchen not overly well equipped - limited pots. Tiny table, only 2 proper chairs. No curtains in bedroom so very bright early morning and also very noisy from upstairs - can hear every step and what’s spoken on the tv from apartment above !

Location was very good. We were staying in kinsale for a wedding and we were allowed to check in early to leave our luggage which was great.

Parking is not guaranteed near the apartment.

Location, location, location! Near free parking to avoid in-town traffic. Relatively quiet even on a busy weekend! I also mistakenly left behind some valuable personal items and Varun kindly coordinate mailing them back to me. This is very much appreciated!

Generally clean though could benefit from a good deep clean. Particularly the bathroom door facing the interior of the bathroom.

Excellent location right in the heart of Kinsale. Easy free parking right nearby and super easy key retrieval. Spacious living area with TV, fridge, kitchen well stocked. Two bedrooms were nice and it even had a pull out couch if we had needed to sleep another two. The neighborhood was quiet and nice to hear the bells from the nearby church. Nice warm shower and medium sized bathroom.

The light in the hall was broken which made coming home at night difficult. The mouse in the lounge was a particular issue for my friend who was scared stiff!

Location in Kinsale was great. Bedrooms both comfortable.

Place had dust everywhere. Hallway is grotty, cobwebs everywhere. The apartment needs a good deep clean. Washing machine still not working. Heaters on tripped the fuse board. The shower was pathetic, the water dribbled out.

Unfortunately the washer didn’t work and was told it wasn’t a current option to use The property manager only communicates through WhatsApp which you don’t know until he doesn’t reply to any emails and you finally call and it’s on his voicemail. He was very attentive once we communicated via WhatsApp. Download the app and don’t expect to use wash machine and after that you have a great place to stay. Our unit did have small steps to go up and down to get into the place.

The location was very central.

The owner said they would meet us at the property, then said they would instructions for entry the morning of our arrival. Neither happened. We were left unable to enter until after 7pm. They claimed to have sent instructions on the app in the afternoon but this was not true. Their phone was turned off the whole of the check in window they gave us. At no point have they apologised. They blamed the booking.com app, but they clearly just had their phone off and sent the instructions as soon as they turned it on and tried to gaslight us. The room also hadn't been cleaned thoroughly, there was a sock from the last guest on the floor of our room.

Was hard to find. Roads r very narrow and was a little scary until we found it. In both the units the wash machine was broken so we couldn't do laundry.

We arrived at 2pm and were allowed in at 2.30pm which was great as we had just travelled 7hrs even though check in was at 4pm. It was a beautiful apartment with 2 spacious double rooms in an excellent location. We were able to avail of the disability parking spot just to the side of the building. There were 6 steps up to the apartment but this was manageable. The bathroom was modern as was the rest of the apartment. Highly recommend.

Slight smell in the drains in the bathroom but not that it would put me off staying again.

Front door to the main building did not close at all. Locked the apt door but that was it. Felt this should definitely have been top of the to do list to fix immediately or at least inform us. Pity because I would have given this apt top marks otherwise.
