Staff couldn’t speak English 😫 WiFi was awful 😞 Answering the phone was awful For get some ice ,it took more than 1 hour
It was not anything for like. Only location was perfect
Nice and spacious rooms, excellent location
Location
We are unable to check in until 2 hours later. Lower level suite is allocated to us. At the breakfast, we waited for 20 minutes to get our coffee and food. The waitress who served us did not care about our complaint. She said she is too busy. Very bad customer service. Rooftop bar is open to outsiders, guests have no priority . I am not going back next time
The location was perfect
Our shower drain had issues
If you run a hotel like The Shanghai Edition you want a Front of the House like Chris. He does not tare care, he truly looks after you. I will most certainly return, as the house is perfectly located, the venue is in a mint condition, food is great and the service is outstanding. If the the rooftop bar of the hotel will join this spirit one day, even better.
My stay at The Shanghai EDITION was simply outstanding from start to finish. The welcome was warm and professional, and the check-in process was smooth and efficient. The staff made us feel genuinely valued throughout our stay and were always ready to help with a smile. The room was beautifully designed, exceptionally clean, and very comfortable. Every detail reflected the high standards of the hotel, from the quality of the amenities to the stunning city views. The location couldn't be better. Being right on East Nanjing Road made it incredibly convenient for shopping, restaurants, and sightseeing, while The Bund was only a short walk away. The facilities were excellent, and the atmosphere throughout the hotel was elegant, modern, and relaxing. Housekeeping was impeccable, and every member of the team consistently delivered outstanding service. Without a doubt, this is one of the best hotels I've stayed at. I would happily return on my next visit to Shanghai and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a luxury stay in the city. Nice views and close to bund
Very good breakfast indeed. The selection of local and western food was extensive. Was well worth waking up in time for the breakfast! The service was attentive and courteous.
The location is prime - right on Nanjing Road. There are very limited number of hotels in this area which mainly are Fairmont Peach and The Edition. Depending on the hotel styles you prefer. Fairmont, offering a unique historic, heritage vibe, is just right on the main street in front of Pearl Tower. The Edition, offering a brand-new Edition vibe, right on the Nanjing Road - a 5-10 minute walk to see the Pearl. My recent stay is in the corner city view room, where I can clearly see Shanghai's Pearl Tower skyline right from the desk and the bed. But I do believe the room size and layout are very vary in this hotel building as transforming from the preserved building zone. Room is super clean, well equipped with amenities you may think of in a 5-star hotel including Dyson hair dryer. Bed is comfy. Lighting is pleasure. Air condition, shower water pressure, and shower temperature are as you controlled. Adapters by the bed and by the desk are well thought. It is also quiet in the room and by the guestroom corridor. Breakfast butter is mainly to order a-la-carte style for hot dishes, with line buffet for the sides and cold items. Price is one of the highest in the area. But I feel that you get what you pay for this hotel.
Stayed here for 3 nights. The edition hotel Shanghai is a gem of a hotel with spectacular views of the bund and easy access to Nanjing Road which is the main shopping area. In fact it is located directly opposite the New World Shopping Mall. And the subway station is also just a few steps away. All is all a great base for a stay in Shanghai.
Excellent location close to the metro and Nanjing Pedestrian Street, with plenty of shopping and dining options nearby. We loved the stunning views, sophisticated interiors, comfortable rooms, and overall atmosphere. The staff were warm, attentive, and made our stay extra special with thoughtful touches such as the birthday surprise, handwritten card, and personalized key card. We also enjoyed the breakfast at Shanghai Tavern and the beautiful high tea experience at YONE.
Nothing significant — overall, we had a wonderful and memorable stay.

The rooms were modern, well designed and the hotel itself was in a great location. The staff were very attentive, helpful and had smiles.
The windows needed more cleaning. The dirt was too noticeable when looking out at the view of the river and Bund.
Everything was perfect. Staff was super kind. I’ll definitely come back!

nada a reclamar

We stayed two nights there and were very happy with the room (clean, beds and pillows were very comfortable) breakfast (great quality and good options, delicious juices) and location (near bund and easy to move to other spots) There were always hotel employees in the street besides the hotel where the taxi parks to assist you with luggage, etc. Housekeeping was late and started first in the afternoon. There is no liquid hand soap in the bathroom, only one bar soap. Their body lotion is awesome. We tried their Japanese restaurant (Yone); it is expensive but worth it. Nice view. We do not recommend their famous roof top bar, it was very small, loud, windy(if you want to sit in the first row) although weather on this day was great and as we were briefly there "to look", smelt very strong to cigars everywhere. Some employees speak a bit English but others absolutely not. I asked one lady in the bar from the first floor where the toilet was, and she showed me the reception. She was also not friendly. Reception area and Lift are very dark. Strange thing is that employees use a flashlight to clean tables and floor and do not pay attention to turn down the light when they move it around. As we were sitting in the bar, the light went direct into my eyes, which was very unpleasant. Why don't they just make the room brighter? Cocktails were good. Btw, there is a great restaurant (Yakitori) just the Street besides the hotel.
We stayed at the Shanghai Edition and we did some trips in Shanghai and also a trip to the yellow mountains. The conciërge team of the hotel did its utmost effort the help us around. Thanks Benjamin and team
Everything in the hotel, restaurant was the best. Surrounded by eatery and shops..
Nothing basically. But to highlight 1 incidents which happened to my girlfriend. The candle lights placed at the guest desk are rather dangerous. Its burns my friend hairs.(was leaning near to the candle lights. It lights up instantly on the back of her hair..) It was shocked after smell the smoke of burns hairs and luckily it does not make a tragedy. As I quickly smash it with my mobile in hand into the burning fire on hair. Few front desk staff were witnessed the incident Sadly, no one follow up with us after that..
This hotel offers what are likely the best views of the Bund in Shanghai. The location is unbeatable, situated right on Nanjing Road, making it an ideal choice for a short city break. I was especially impressed by the personal touch; despite my birthday being a few days away, they thoughtfully sent a card and cake to my room. The rooms themselves are beautifully designed, exceptionally clean, and very comfortable.
Great views from the terrace bar, but a very poor policy: tables are only available if you buy a bottle of exclusive liquor, which is frustrating for staying guests. Room service is overpriced (68 RMB for a cup of milk), and the restaurant staff is quite slow. More importantly, there are serious hygiene concerns, such as staff holding food bowls with their fingers inside the rim. Definitely needs better training Although it was not stipulated the hotel required a large security deposit for 2 night stay - RMB 4000
We had such a great stay at the Shanghai Edition. Location, service, food, all 5 stars. Our King Bund View Suite was a wonderful relaxing timeless retreat from the bustling crowds of Nanjing Lu and the Bund. Zero complaints, all positive. Yes, can be pricey but worth it. Spacious, peaceful, luxurious, and bright. An extra shout-out to concierge who helped us in so many ways - tickets to the LV ship, the local apps, and other confusing stuff. Xie Xie!
I stayed at an EDITION hotel to celebrate my daughter’s graduation, but unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience overall due to multiple issues. Initially, I made a reservation through Marriott Bonvoy. However, I rebooked via my American Express Platinum Card to take advantage of the ¥20,000 travel credit and additional benefits (including about RMB 700 equivalent in hotel credits). Despite having separate reservation numbers, both bookings were unexpectedly canceled without my consent. Even after confirming with the Amex concierge, the reservation remained canceled—and worse, I was still charged without a refund. I only discovered this by chance when I called the hotel. In the end, I had to make a new reservation myself. Honestly, if I hadn’t called, I can’t imagine what would have happened on the day of check-in. At check-in, there was no apology, and the hotel did not acknowledge their mistake, which was quite shocking. Although I am a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite member, I was not upgraded and was assigned a low-floor room. Instead, I was offered RMB 300 as compensation, which was later increased to a total of RMB 1,000 in hotel credit. I accepted this. After being shown to my room around 1:30 PM, I had lunch at the hotel’s first-floor restaurant. We ordered Iberico pork ribs steak, sea urchin and salmon roe risotto, oxtail soup, and mushroom truffle soup. The food took 1 hour and 20 minutes to be served, which is far too long—so I would not recommend this restaurant if you are short on time. Although it is listed as a Michelin restaurant, the taste was just average. Service, however, was good. Due to the long wait, we were given a complimentary cake (which I didn’t try). The lunch cost was about RMB 730, leaving roughly RMB 270 in credit. Later that evening, we went to the rooftop bar to enjoy the Shanghai night view. We ordered two cocktails (under RMB 230 total) and charged them to the room as usual. However, shortly after returning to the room, I received a call from the bar asking me to come back and pay. This was very confusing, as I had not exceeded the RMB 1,000 credit. After contacting the front desk, they initially claimed I had already used around RMB 730. I had to point out that I still had remaining credit. After rechecking, they called back and apologized, explaining it was due to a staff input error. Eventually, they confirmed that no payment was needed. For a five-star hotel, there were simply too many mistakes—this level of confusion is unacceptable. That said, I would like to sincerely thank one female staff member (I didn’t catch her name) who was exceptionally kind. When I injured my finger, she thoughtfully brought disinfectant swabs and bandages to my room. Her attentiveness and care truly impressed me. Breakfast is à la carte, so the variety is limited. I didn’t try much, but the shrimp dumplings were delicious. It’s really unfortunate, as I chose this EDITION hotel to celebrate my daughter’s special milestone. I had high expectations, but the experience did not meet them.
Wonderful hotel!! We loved the location, the decor, and the beautiful guest rooms. It’s right on Nanjing Road, so as soon as you step outside, you can explore and walk around easily. The rooms were very nice and clean. The views from our room were absolutely breathtaking and made our stay even more special. Mia and Benjamin were amazing! They were incredibly kind and helpful and truly made our stay even better. The front desk staff and the bell attendant we interacted with were also fantastic. I wish I remembered their names because they absolutely deserve the credit. We needed to buy a piece of luggage very early in the morning when all the stores were closed, and the front desk associate kindly offered to order one for us through an app on her phone. She was so thoughtful, and we are very grateful to her. The bell attendant also assisted us with helpful information for our next destination, Zhangjiajie, which we really appreciated. Everyone was so friendly! We will definitely be coming back to the Edition on our next trip to Shanghai!
The location is excellent, a 5 min walk to the bund and it's located right on Nanjing Rd. The staff was great and awesome. We traveled with a baby and without asking, the housemaid brought us a bottle sterilizer and warmer. The room was clean and the whole staff was great.
The view and rooms are quite different from the photos, which isn’t a problem, but it’s helpful to know what you’re actually booking. Check-in was slow as well, we had to wait 60 minutes for a room, whereas my friend, who has the same status, was offered a room immediately on the 7th floor. We weren’t offered that option, which may have been due to language differences, as my friend spoke Mandarin and we used an English translator. Unlike other luxury hotels, there were no welcome gifts like fruit or chocolates, which is just a note on the difference in experience. Our luggage also wasn’t delivered as promised; we had to call for it and eventually get it ourselves so we could shower before dinner after a long flight. Lastly, breakfast this is a preference however my whole friend group all agreed the breakfast was below expectation for a 5 star hotel. Overall, the stay wasn’t bad, but for the premium price and 5-star claims, the service felt average at best.
The hotel boasts a superb location, situated right in front of many famous tourist attraction—making it incredibly convenient for sightseeing, shopping, or simply taking a stroll. At the same time, the setting is wonderfully tranquil and completely free from the disturbance of urban noise, ensuring a peaceful and comfortable stay. The rooms are exceptionally clean and spacious. The only regret of our trip was too short, only three days two nights, that we didn't get to fully utilize the hotel's on-site amenities, as we spent all our time exploring the surroundings, indeed, it was simply not enough time to do it all. The service was warm and attentive, and the staff were incredibly friendly—it was, quite simply, beyond reproach for the money and time that we spent

Awesome location and views of the bund
The lower floors didn’t have great views
The room was amazing and the staff was extremely nice
There was nothing I didn't like about this property
Having come from the well lit, well serviced, friendly and welcoming Peninsula Beijing, the Edition is quite the contrast. Dark lobby, very dark elevators, a staff that at most is appropiate but never welcoming. House keeping is a disaster. Once a day they execute the bare minimum. We are on our third night here and despite requesting the we have not once had turn down service. Shanghai and China have a lot to offer, lovely people, great service. The Edition reflects neither.
My friend and I had an amazing time at the Edition Hotel Shanghai. We got a room with a stunning view of the Pearl Tower. Special thanks to Mia and Colin — without their arrangements, we wouldn’t have had such a wonderful experience. We look forward to our next trip to Shanghai and staying at the Edition again.
The service was wonderful, with staff standing by the pickup and dropoff to help with luggages and boarding. We accidentally left one of our belongings at a shopping mall, and the staff helped to arrange for someone to collect the item and send it back to the room directly for a very small fee of 30rmb. The gym is exceptionally stocked with coconut water and cold towels, clean equipment and plenty of space. The indoor pool is also heated, even during winter. Room had a splendid view, comfortable amenities.
The bathroom doors open outwards, towards the sink.
The hotel room we stayed at was modern without signs of wear. Our room provided everything for us on check in. But more so than the view and quality of our room, our highlights were the staff and how they made our stay personable. Our housekeeper was very attentive and noticed we drank lots of water our first couple days and provided us with six cans. They also refilled our toiletries and even provided me with an Invisalign cleaner! I always found cleaning my Invisalign during travel a little gross and annoying so that felt special. The fruit they provided at the beginning and end of our stay were also top tier a nice touch. We had Shanghai Tavern for breakfast each morning which was great and Lori the supervisor was so nice! She gave us great recommendations for our day trip to Suzhou. Staff like her take our experience from a standard five star hotel to a memorable one My sister recommended this hotel to us when she visited and now we booked this room for my parents!
I stayed one night at the Shanghai EDITION during a business trip. If you are looking for a stylish design hotel in central Shanghai close to the Bund and Nanjing Road, this is a very convenient option. The location is excellent—right next to a metro station, two blocks from the Bund, and directly connected to Nanjing Road pedestrian street. The area is very lively and busy, but once inside the hotel it feels surprisingly calm and peaceful. The hotel has a very distinctive design — modern, stylish and quite trendy, with a strong focus on interior design throughout the property. My room was spacious with a large bathroom, and the amenities were from Le Labo. Everything felt comfortable and well maintained. The staff throughout the hotel were friendly and professional. Breakfast was very good. The buffet itself is relatively small, but there is a large à la carte menu, which offers plenty of additional options and works very well. The gym is not very large, but the equipment is modern and when I visited it was mostly empty. There is also a small indoor pool which is nicely designed, although it would probably feel quite crowded if several guests wanted to use it at the same time. One small downside is that the waiting area for the lifts and the elevators themselves are very dark due to the design concept, which sometimes makes it surprisingly difficult to see the floor numbers on the buttons. The hotel also has several restaurants and bars. The Japanese restaurant on the top floor is particularly good and worth visiting. Overall a very enjoyable stay and a great option if you want a modern hotel in a very central Shanghai location. I would definitely consider returning.
We had an excellent stay at The Shanghai EDITION, made truly special by Benjamin from the concierge team. He was incredibly helpful, professional, and genuinely caring, assisting us with everything we needed and making our time in Shanghai seamless and enjoyable. Exceptional service and a beautiful hotel. Many thanks to Benjamin and the entire concierge team—we look forward to returning.
Location
Luxurious. Great location. Great views.
We spent Christmas Eve at the Shanghai Edition, which turned out to be a disappointment. The hotel does not compare to the Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis, or Shangri-La in terms of service, comfort, or overall experience. While the location is good—second only to the Peace Hotel—it is surprisingly difficult for vehicles to access the entrance. Upon arrival, we were struck by the dark lighting in the small lobby and the lack of warmth from the staff. At check-in, we were informed that the hotel was fully booked and that our hotel credits could only be used at a limited number of venues. The rooftop bar was cold and windy; we had to request blankets and gas heaters to stay comfortable. The rooms lack thoughtful details. Although described as “trendy,” they are not particularly convenient or comfortable. The biggest disappointment was the breakfast. Despite a wide selection, the flavors and overall quality fell short of what one would expect from a five-star hotel. The afternoon tea looked elegant but lacked distinctive taste and was not cost-effective. The view (as shown in the photo) was acceptable but not exceptional. Overall, the Shanghai Edition feels like an overpriced hotel on East Nanjing Road rather than a true luxury experience.

Beautiful rooms with a great view of the bund
There is no proper sheltered drop off point that’s standard for big brand hotels. I was drenched from head to toe when a car blocked the only entry into the hotel on a rainy day.
Loved the location and the staff. Had a bund view room… sensational!
The lift foyer area was a bit dark but it was a small gripe.
