Reviewed Sep 13, 2026The property is small but very welcoming and very well taken care of. The staff is just amazing and very nice. They were in communication at all times and they even took our bags to the room. Access to it is easy and is located in a great location in the heart of the historic town of Santiago.
The only thing we found a bit uncomfortable was the shower. Not a deal breaker but a bit uncomfortable because the shower does not have a shower door, it’s a glass panel that covers half of the shower so the water splashes everywhere in the bathroom. They are very aware of this issue and are very attentive in giving extra towels to place on the floor. I think a good investment in shower doors would resolve this issue.

The location was outstanding, being right next to the cathedral and perfect for when finishing the Camino. The rooms are small but exceptionally clean with everything you need.

The one downside is it can get noisy at night due to people walking on the street to/from bars in the area. Didn’t really bother us but something we noticed.

The rooms are up a winding staircase, but staff grabbed my bags and made the climb as easy as possible.

Destacar la amabilidad de José y su hermana para facilitarnos la estancia, desde subirnos el equipaje a la habitación y permitirnos dejarlo en el hotel desde la hora del checkout hasta que nos fuimos De Santiago, hasta todas las recomendaciones para disfrutar más de la ciudad. Volveremos sin duda.

Reviewed Jul 15, 2026The hotel is conveniently located to many restaurants and within walking distance to any area in the city. The staff provided great local recommendations. You are within seconds to the entrance of the cathedral and surrounding areas. We drove into the city and the parking garage is an easy 5 minute walk away. The staff were super friendly and kept our bags the morning of checkout so we could explore a bit more!

Si hay que decir algo, solo mejoraba con una mininevera en la habitación y una cafetera aunque sea de pago en la zonas comunes. Por lo demás es un sitio estupendo y volvería mil veces.

Reviewed Jul 10, 2026Sin duda, recomendamos el hospedaje en Casa Balconada. No hay un sitio donde te puedan atender mejor, la ubicación es excelente, pulcritud a la máxima potencia. Mención especial a José y su hermana, dueños de Casa Balconada y la chica de recepción, cuya hospitalidad es digna de elogio; nos hicieron estar como en nuestra propia casa. Nos permitieron dejar nuestro equipaje durante todo el día puesto que teníamos que dejar la habitación a las 11 y no teníamos el vuelo hasta las 21h.

Jose, Maria,and Karla, made our stay feel like we were at home or with family. They were so inviting, helping us with our luggage, and even helping us locate our bags which were delayed they went above and beyond ! They would spend time talking with us and giving us excellent recommendations on where to eat and explore! Their recommendations made our stay so much better. We will definitely miss them. Thank you!

The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. I was traveling with my two-year-old son J., and the reception staff were absolutely wonderful with him—they even bought him baby food, which was such a thoughtful and heartwarming gesture. The room was beautiful, spotless, and had everything we needed. We truly felt welcome and had a fantastic stay. We would happily come back and highly recommend this place.

Let us store our bags early and actually took them to the room for us before check in. On top of that, they offered to do our laundry. Top notch stay all around!

Reviewed May 31, 2026This was a beautiful spot. Close to the Cathedral and everything we were wanting to see. The owners were so very kind. Let us in early to drop off our packs and get to Mass. We brought a bottle of wine and sat in their little outdoor garden area. The owner brought us two wine glasses to use. It was very thoughtful. We loved our stay here and would stay again. Thank you very much.

Reviewed May 27, 2026The staff at Casa da Balcinada were amazing. The location couldn't have been better. The room was lovely and very comfortable.
The only downside is if you have any mobility issues there is no lift. The staff were so great and brought up our luggage but my friend had a knee injury and after walking the camino the stairs were a little hard on her. I didn't find it an issue at all.

Reviewed May 20, 2026Wirklich außergewöhnlich nettes und zuvorkommendes Personal! Wir haben 2 sehr gute Tipps zum Abendessen und Frühstück erhalten. Uns wurde sogar die nasse Wäsche zum Trocknen abgenommen, da wir sie nicht in einen Trockner geben wollten. Auch die sehr schnelle und einfache Kommunikation hat uns wirklich sehr geholfen und gefallen! Trotz belebter Altstadt konnten wir sehr gut schlafen! Nächstes Mal auf jeden Fall wieder im Casa da Balconada!! Vielen Dank für diesen super Aufenthalt!

Reviewed May 5, 2026Tolle Zimmer in bester Lage nahe der Kathedrale. Der Kontakt war gut aber "leider" nur über WhatsApp. Ich hatte ein Zimmer um dritten Stock. Nach einem langen camino tut jede Treppenstufen etwas weh was natürlich ohne Aufzug dann anstrengend wird. Davon abgesehen alles super. Würde definitiv wieder kommen und dann nach einem Zimmer mit weniger Treppen fragen 😄

Reviewed Apr 21, 2026Läget kunde inte vara bättre, precis vid den stora Katedralen. Hotellet var litet och mycket trevligt. Vi kom med bil och den kunde vi parkera i ett parkeringsgarage bara 5 minuter från hotellet (18,5€/dygn. Frukost åt vi alldeles vid stora torget.
Det fanns inte någon hiss, men det fanns inte heller någon plats att installera en på.

My only nitpicky thing is that I didn't realize that right after I checked in, all the staff were going to go home, so I wasn't able to casually ask questions after checking in. That said, the staff did WhatsApp me with restaurant suggestions, etc. and I was able to ask questions that way.

The rooms are fairly small as you would expect in these old buildings but it was well laid out. It's run by a great couple who really go the extra mile to make sure guests are looked after. Loads of places for breakfast nearby. 100% we'll stay here again on our next Camino!
