Service is amazing!

If I have to say one minor thing we don't like is… there is a misqido in our room🤣

從車站商店街過去有個上坡 行李多還是搭車吧

위치: 도고온천 도보 5분거리내 서비스: 직원분들 모두 친절, 공용 목욕탕 내 맥주, 아이스크림 무료, 퇴실 시 얼음 물(한여름에 좋았어요) 조식, 석식(별도옵션) 비싸긴하나 매우 만족. 시설: 외관은 다소 노후됬다고 느낄수 있으나, 단점을 찾기 어려운 내부 인테리어 및 조용한 일본 료칸 분위기를 느낄수 있음. 가격: 다소 비싸다 생각될수 있으나 그만큼의 값어치를 한다고 생각됨.

공용 목욕탕이 24시간 될수는 없을까?

Warm hospitality, thoughtful guidance, spotless cleanliness, and every service provided for the comfort of the guests made our stay truly wonderful. It was the first time we had ever stayed at a place that even explained the emergency evacuation procedures, which made us feel especially safe. Whenever we returned from going out, the staff recognized us and had our shoes neatly arranged. They did the same every time we left, and we were touched by such thoughtful attention. What I remember most about traveling is always the kindness of the local people. My mother, my younger sibling, and I were truly happy in Matsuyama, thanks to the wonderful people at Yamatoya Besso. The complimentary draft beer and ice cream, available 24 hours a day, were amazing. We also had the public bath almost entirely to ourselves, so my mother especially enjoyed the peaceful and relaxing experience. Even the uphill walk to the hotel became part of our happy memories. We loved every moment of our stay, including the yukata experience and the lovely souvenir socks! When we left, all of the staff came to see us off. The image of the elderly gentleman smiling and waving goodbye is a memory that will stay with us forever. Oh, and the breakfast was absolutely delicious! My mother said it was the best meal she had during our trip. The portions were generous, and we left completely satisfied. Since there were so many wonderful local foods to try, we decided to skip the kaiseki dinner this time, and now that's our only regret. We would love to come back again someday. きめ細かな対応に終始有難いと思いました。料理の説明も丁寧で分かりやすく、襖の開閉にも心を配られていました。夢の国に来た気持で、また来たいと思いました。

お出迎えから最後まで全てが完璧のおもてなしでした。 今まで他の宿では感じたことのない最高のおもてなしとお部屋の作りでした。 食事も全て丁寧で日本の温かみを感じられる美味しすぎる品々ばかりで感動しました。 温泉も本館ではなく別荘だからこそこじんまりゆっくりした空間で露天風呂も気持ちよかったです。

It is a very understated ryokan. The reception is very minimal, however the staff service is very attentive. The hotel itself is traditional and the entrance is off a very short and quiet street and is very unassuming. The staff will guide you to your room and introduce the various areas. My sister and I both used the onsen which was also very understated and was very clean and calm. We both enjoyed the facility and the room itself. We opted for just the kaiseki breakfast, and both the presentation and the preparation of the food was excellent - I've travelled to Japan multiple times to various cities. We chatted briefly with the wonderfully effusive yet self-effacing lady who brought the food - she was truly the highlight of the hotel. The location of the hotel is also within very convenient walking distance to both the Dogo Onsen as well as the covered shopping passage - just a few minutes. We stored our bags upon checkout so that we could spend our last moments wandering the shops before taking the train out of Matsuyama. I would definitely love to come back and would recommend this hotel to any of my friends for a calming and authentic ryokan experience. The dinner recommendation for Tai-Meshi restaurant just around the corner was also just excellent - so much so, that we went back a second time during the same trip!

I have been coming to Japan for thirty years and am a fluent Japanese speaker so I dare to say that I can compare this place with others. Yamatoya Besso clearly stands out in terms of location, design, food and the service provided.

Everything was flawfless.

The staff was exceptional. They treated us all very well and explained whatever we didn't know with grace making the stay very relaxing and fulfilling. The outdoor bath was a treat and the hotel was beautiful.

Very nice rooms and location, right next to Dogo Onsen and a beutiful park. The Castle is only 15-20 min walking distance. The Ryokan has a small, but very relaxing Onsen (indoor and outdoor, seperated genders). They even have free beer and ice cream next to the Onsen entrance.

夕食、朝食が美味しかった。トイレは最新なのに　手洗いが昔風で洒落てました。スタッフさんが皆様にこやかで、親切な応対でした。

特にありません。強いて言えば、夕食の量が多くて食べきれなかった(笑)

아침/저녁 모두 맛있었으나 조금 짜기도 했습니다.

음식이 조금 짜고 숙소에 있는 오천은 너무 작고 가성비가 있는 숙소는 아닌 것 같습니다.

Stunning ryokan right in the center of Matsuyama's Dogo onsen district with a short walking distance to all shops, restaurants, public onsens and cafes and the train station and shopping center. Staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful and go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. The ryokan itself is beautiful and you feel transported into a traditional Japanese home as soon as you step in and the rooms are gorgeous too - spacious, with a nice view, separate room for drinking coffee, a nice bath and even supplies yukata and all amenities.

Unfortunately no breakfast is provided.

Very close to Dogo Onsen, the tram stop, and a hundred nearby restaurants. Also near to shrines and other Dogo Onsen adjacent attractions. The staff were awesome, the facilities were classy and very nice, the Onsen bath was spectacular, the room had an excellent view and while I didn't order it, I did see the food and it smelled and looked amazing.

There was nothing I didn't like per say, but if the A/C had capability to actually cool the room down that would have made it legitimately the perfect stay.

I like the bath as there were very few guests taking the bath with me.

The price is over priced for the value. I had breakfast for two days and it was ok but should not be worth that much.

Private, clean, quiet, considerate. Not crowded. One night we had Half board plan - the kaiseki dinner and breakfast offered an experience far beyond a simple Japanese home-style meal. I (my family) enjoyed everything at the Yamatoya Besso.

Luxious.great location, great meal. Attention to every details. Quiet and very confortable. A wood bath is in the bedroom.

We did not realize that the Yamatoya Besso is a beautiful but older traditional ryokan surrounded by the tall multi-story high rise lodgings around the Dogo Onsen. The level of service was very high and traditional which we were not expecting and in retrospect we appreciated and really set a bar for over our multiple trips to Japan and ryokan stays. Its location just above the Dogo Onsen annex and historic shopping arcade was a highlight and we did have views of Matsuyama Castle from our room. The water feature in the room, the kaiseki style breakfast served in the room, and the onsen were highlights.

The traditional and high level of service was unexpected at first so you really have to put yourself into the mindset of experiencing the formalities of a very traditional ryokan experience. That said it wasn't stuffy, just unexpected. We've stayed at numerous ryokans over the years and this one set the bar for service and tradition, so just be willing to go with their exceptional hospitality.

7인*2박에 원화로 400만원 지불했는데 시설이나 조식을 대하고 보니 가성비가 너무 낮다는 느낌에 아차!했습니다..굳이 전통료칸에서 숙박할 필요는 없구나하는 결론..오카이도에 있는 비지니스호텔을 예약하고 택시로 도고온천 다니는걸 추천합니다(비용이 10분의 1도 안 들 듯)

Great luxury housing, worth the price. The traditional Japanese rooms are very beautiful, the place has an indoor bath and service is great.

I would have liked the hotel to let us know in advance that dinner needed to be booked at least 3 days in advance, because we couldn't try it.

Very helpful staff. Great location with a private onsen as part of the hotel. Beautiful rooms and very tranquil. Location within 5 minutes of Dogo Onsen. Easy to get to on the tram as goes to Matsuyama station and the castle. Lots of restaurants close by and coffee bars.

お部屋で夕食も朝食も食べられてのんびりできました。宿泊者は大和屋本館のお風呂にも入れます。タオルの籠も貸して下さいました。素敵な旅館でよかったです。

There was limited possibility to order the breakfast.

From the moment we stepped through the front door the team at Yamatoya Besso could not do enough to make us feel welcome. Everyone was kind and attentive, explaining how the various facilities at the hotel worked, and the relevant etiquette e.g. for using the hot spring spa, and letting us know that we could wear the beautiful Yukata they provided for us out and about. The hotel spa was tranquil, clean and a good introduction to Japanese hot spring culture. The japanese breakfast was phenomenal, different each day, and served in our room. It was wonderful to have such a peaceful, traditional experience at the end of our holiday. Although we speak very little Japanese we were able to communicate easily with all the staff using a translation app on our smartphones. A fantastic experience.

久しぶりに「旅館」に泊まりました。 膝が悪い夫はベッドを希望していましたが、私はお布団が嬉しかった。(普段の生活はベッドですが、なぜかホテルのベッドだと寝付けない事が多いので) 部屋のお風呂も大浴場もよかったです。 食事も部屋まで運んでくれて美味しかった。 関東在住なので難しいですが、次に松山へ行く事があれば是非リピートしたいお宿です。

良くなかったというよりも朝食が豪華過ぎて食べるのが大変だった(笑) 60歳オーバーの私達は朝食は無しにして夕食だけお願いすれば良かったです。

Zeer traditionele ryokan met de (bijna verdwenen) stijl van weleer, temidden van de toeristen kermis rond Dogo-onsen. Kleine eigen onsen faciliteiten, maar er kon ook gebruik gemaakt worden van de onsen faciliteiten met sake bar van het zuster hotel. Stijlvol welkom met thee en lokale delicatesse. Diverse extra's zoals een biertap (onbeperkt) en ijsjes. Inrichting van de grote kamer klassiek en compleet met mooie ryokan kleding voor binnen en buiten. Buitengewoon vriendelijk personeel. Fijn dat deze traditionele gastvrijheid en hoffelijkheid nog bestaat.

Jammer dat eten in deze ryokan niet mogelijk was.

Ambiente muito abafado. Ainda que tivesse umidificador e ar condicionado, não consegui abrir a janela pra pegar ar puro. A questão de só montar a cama depois do jantar me incomodou um pouco. Gostaria da cama sempre disponível para poder relaxar pela tarde. Senti falta dos funcionários dominarem um pouco mais o inglês e de orientarem mais sobre a cultura e tradição japonesa. Foi minha primeira vez em um Ryokan e me senti perdido em vários momentos.

The ryokan had a very traditional vibe, staff were very attentive & the Onsen baths were lovely.

The urinal in the toilet seems unnecessary & it smelled. There was tap beer after the Onsen - largely catering for men. A nice glass of decent white Sauvignon Blanc, from Marlborough NZ or from Australia would be a lovely alternative to water for people who don’t drink beer.
