NOT the hotel’s fault, but my bedroom window was located out the back. Next door neighbours were in their hot tub and very VERY loud until 3am.

Zimmer unter dem Dach war extrem heiß und Fenster ließen sich nicht richtig öffnen. Ein Bett für 2 Personen mit einer Breite von etwa 1,4m ist einfach zu wenig!

The staff were nice & the place was generally clean

The bed was the most uncomfortable I've ever stayed on: mattress was old, cheap, very dipped & could feel every spring. We woke up multiple times in the night and both had bad backache the next day. The toilet seat was also cracked.

Room didn't have aircon and the windows only opened partially, so it was very warm. Fans were provided however so that was good.

The restaurant was closed for our stay, so no food or drinks were being served. The room was uncomfortably hot, fans should have been on prior to our arrival. Bathroom door handle was broke, so we could not close the door.

The property is in a lovely great area. It’s very close to restaurants and the park. The room was clean and the bathroom was big and spacious.

The room was exceptionally hot. There was no air conditioning. 2 table fans had been placed in the room but this did nothing to cool the room down. I had to sit in the lobby during the night to try and cool down a little. It made sleeping impossible. There was no blind at one of the large windows which also meant there was no privacy from the street view.

Unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience with this hotel. My family and I stayed there during the recent bank holiday. We checked in at the appropriate time and went out for lunch. When we returned to our room, we noticed a very strong smell of cannabis coming from the room next door. We were staying in Room 3 on the first floor, which had a connecting door to Room 4. I went to reception and explained that there was a strong smell of weed coming into our room and that we wanted to be moved. I had a toddler with me, and exposing a young child to something like this was completely unacceptable. The receptionist said he would investigate the matter. He later confirmed that the smell was indeed coming from Room 4. However, the only action we noticed was that an air freshener or odour diffuser had been placed in the area. We asked again to be moved to another room, but we were told that the hotel was fully booked. As a result, we packed our belongings and left. Before we departed, the receptionist assured us that he would report the matter to his manager and that we would receive a refund. 1. Refund issue: We waited a couple of days to hear back from the hotel but received no response. We then contacted Booking.com to help us obtain our refund. It has now been over a week, and Booking.com has confirmed that they have contacted the hotel three times without receiving any response. 2. Communication with management: Eventually, I managed to speak with a lady on the phone, who I believe was the manager. She firmly maintained that Booking.com had never contacted or emailed the hotel regarding our complaint. 3. My concern: Given the circumstances and the fact that we had to leave because of the conditions we encountered, when can we expect our refund to be processed? 4. Ongoing lack of response: Since speaking with the lady, I have tried several times to contact the hotel again without success. I have also left a voicemail message.

Road outside was a bit noisy at night as we needed windows open as hot weather although a fan was supplied. Others may have oreferred closed windows which could have made the room quieter. Next time I would ask for a rear facing room

Location. View from our 3rd floor room overlooking the common to the sea. Shops and restaurants just around corner, Palmerston Rd. There is parking on street, (pay at the metre) free from 6pm to 8am. Two chairs are a bonus. Full length mirror a bonus. TV & tea/coffee tray with kettle.

No lift. No dressing table (bring your own vanity mirror). No drawers No wardrobe No hooks to hang coats. Very small hanging space for two people, not suitable for more than 2 nights in my opinion.

It was a good price for an excellent room. The hotel was conveniently placed, the view was lovely. It was exceptionally clean and neat.

The shower tray was extremely slippery. So much so I nearly fell twice. A shower mat is much needed. There were a LOT of stairs to reach the room.

Lovely building overlooking the park and very close to the sea. Staff were very helpful and allowed me to check in early. The room was perfect for my requirements. Most importantly, clean and comfortable.

The accommodation was sufficient and the staff were nice, the hotel is in a good location and it was clean.

Private parking would have been better but there was no problem parking on street, this might be problematic in the spring or summer seasons.

Only small things, and apart from these, it was lovely. The kettle didn't have a plug socket nearby, so I had to move it across the room and drag a table over to put the kettle on so it reached the wall plug. Only one pillow on the bed, but not a big issue for me. The shower screen doors sort of overlapped, but left a large gap at the bottom. Didn't affect the use, but may turn into an issue if someone makes a mess with the water. But overall, not major issues, and would highly recommend staying here.

When I left home at 16 and travelled to Portsmouth that guest house was my new home.I'm now 60 the owners of Q8 have done some amazing renovation work. Much love and respect to them

Parking will always be an issue as its a busy as it's a hub for travel to to Isle of Wight. The park and ride facility is spot and also the bus to the hovercraft

I booked and paid for a "Superior Double" room, yet the bed wasn't even a standard double, it was even smaller than that. We had the worst night's sleep. When I mentioned this to the receptionist she said I booked with booking.com so need to take it up with you.

I stayed at this hotel while travelling to take part in the Festive Half Marathon, and the location honestly couldn’t have been better. Everything was so convenient and easy to get to. The staff were absolutely lovely — super friendly, welcoming and very flexible, which made the stay even better, especially around race day. I really loved my stay here and would 100% come back again. Highly recommended!

The room was a little cold and I couldn’t get the heating to work properly. I didn’t mention it at reception during my stay, so I’m sure it’s something they could easily fix. Other than that, nothing to complain about.

The location is brilliant as not far from the promenade and sea. Late checkout at 11am is good.

Very disappointed about not having breakfast included on site. A boutique hotel in any other town would include breakfast. You had to leave the property to go to a local restaurant for food. There was no lift. The rooms weren't soundproof so you could hear people coming and going all the time. Very basic tea and coffee facilities. I don't think it qualifies as a boutique hotel

Only stays 1 night to collect our son from his ship but was lovely and fresh, clean and staff very friendly. Excellent value for money

The property was nice and very reasonable.

There were a few small issues such as the shower head would not stay up while trying to have a shower.

The hotel was spotlessly clean, friendly staff and a good location for the seafront. Guest lounge was a nice addition.

They advertise breakfast vouchers but don’t provide them.

The television didn’t work properly. Couldn’t get most of the channels. Bedside tables could be bigger. Storage overall was minimal. You couldn’t stay more than 1 night.
