Breakfast started too late.
Carvery was lovely asked to be moved to a ground floor and lady at reception kindly sorted as quickly as she could
Very clean, comfortable and good location. Friendly staff.
Very comfortable bed Excellent choice of drink in the bar. Good choice of the food, typical "pub" grub plus a carvery
From first check in staff were friendly and Professional Room was very clean and neat and tidy
Bed was a bit firm (personal preference)
Great staff.And lovely clean room.L
Breakfast was not very hot.
Great size family room
No lift to family room on second floor not easy with a 1-2 & 3 year old children
Easy parking, great breakfast, clean Appartment
Nothing
Nice air conditioned room.
Location and ease of access. Great staff Superb breakfast
Room poor by comparison with Premier Inn Plus which are the same price. Zero out of three USB chargers working Bath too high. Bed not great by comparison with Premier Inn.
Property great the adjoining pub is absolutely awful. 8 of us met up from different parts of the country so we stayed and ate there.
The food at the pub is the worse pub food ever. One meal had ants crawling all over it, the steaks were awful, rough and dry ….subsequently non of us wanted our meals. The decor seemed old and dated with worn out seat pads. Management were good about it a refunded our meals. It’s a good job there is a 24hr McDonald’s nearby.
Friendly service
Clean & accommodating - professional
Good value for money with all necessary amenities and no extra fluff: AC, EV charging onsite, clean sheets, quiet rooms, pub nearby.
The location only works if you travel by car and stay for a night on a long journey. It’s kinda in the middle of nowhere, especially on foot.
Reasonable price, good AC, good-sized room, plenty of beds. We booked because the temperature was 38 degrees and I have a newborn baby. I needed the AC.
Not the cleanest - stains on single bed, window and lamp—no toilet paper when we arrived. Reception is in the pub and not manned or easy to get ahold of. Double bed was very hard.
I rested very well the air was very nice.
I wanted to be in floor 1 because I have a family and it’s hard to get up and down.
Breakfast and all food was fab. Room was cleanish apart from a few cobwebs and no soap in the bathroom. Beds were ok
No soap in the bathroom. Maybe a second check on cleanliness.
It was just what we needed to attend a funeral in Chaddeston.
Nothing ig was all fine.
Location, staff and restaurant
Bed was uncomfortable me and no extra pillows provided
did not have breakfast
exceeded my expectations
Clean and tidy
Only one towel in the room so had to go ask for another one. No offers or discounts offered for the adjoining pub. Staff in pub/restaurant weee unhelpful and gave incorrect information. Paid almost £40 for 2 carveries which at 5pm had very little to choose from.
Quiet, clean and very comfortable
Just the outdoor seating areas , they need replacing or refurbishing
It was nice and quiet, the roo waa clean and food was great
The spoiler was the bed, it was really hard and not forgiving for us
Room was clean and staff very polite
No toilet paper holder in bathroom just left with a plastic disc on the wall Breakfast could have been warmer … perhaps needs to be on warmed plates
Clean and good location

Room had aircon, which considering the heatwave was very welcome indeed. Was set nice and low so entering the room was bliss! Breakfast is pretty decent and they are more than willing to accommodate different requirements. Also ate their in the evening too, normal pub grub, but decent food.
Decent room. Decent food. Decent staff.
Clean and tidy and basic. Not in a bad way as everything you need. Check in at put and then rooms just behind. Parking good and EV charging. Pub was lovely, menu was good and daily offers. Bar staff were lovely. A good stay overall and ticked all the boxes.
No lift and had 3 flights of stairs to climb. Like most places they never leave enough milk, sugar and t bags in the hotel room. Details of the menu and food offers for the pub are advertised in the room. Offer stating 20% off all main meals cannot be used if you book via booking.com, asked the manager to honour the offer but he refused. He also lacked good customer service skills but other staff were lovely.
sort the drains out there is an awful smell outside
Comfortable bed Great food and friendly staff
The location, pub next door which had lovely food and friendly staff
The bed was too hard for me but I understand not everyone has the same comfort. My husband didn’t have any complaints.
Comfortable and clean

Location was perfect for travelling to alton towers, the room was clean and perfect for our stay

Having to wait 15 minutes to check in
We were in Blue Jay for one night. Location is very good. Room was comfortable and clean. Food was delicious and very good choice of breakfast.
When we arrived in room was switched on condition and for us was little to cold.
Clean
Close to where I was visiting
We had a family room and there was plenty of space between the three beds, the room didn't feel cramped at all as family rooms sometimes do. The aircon was extremely welcome too. All the staff were incredibly helpful and the breakfast was delicious, plenty of choice.
Very good
Tidy and spot on well done
The air conditioning was a real bonus. The room was comfortable and clean.
Breakfast area, bar area and facilities have all seen better days, but I guess that there had been a long late session due to the men's football world cup.
We liked the clean room and Free parking next to hotel. The playarea for kids next to restaurant and McDonald's nearby were also convenient.
We didn't like that our room was never cleaned in 3 nights and no change of towels. The food at the restaurant was not fresh at all! We took the carvey and the meat was over heated and the vegetables tasted rotten! We also were charged for the breakfast - it was not included in the package apparently!
Great location and air conditioning
Air conditioning and location
Location, value for money

Cant really think of anything that i didn't like.
It was comfortable and clean and very accessible

A Very friendly welcome. Comfortable stay. Lovely breakfast
NA
Pleasant staff , food good and our room was lovely and cool with air con left on for us
There were plenty of tea & coffee sachets, we were so glad of them. The Receptionist was great, she printed out directions to the place we were going to visit our friends.
We could have done with extra pillows, i did message to say but I don't think they got the message.
Nice rooms , clean, comfortable bed. On site pub. Very handy for stop over before going to East Midlands Airport.
Staff very polite and helpful.
Bed was comfortable and air conditioning was very nice!
Terrible customer service at the bar and drinks very overpriced. A bar staff removed a fly out of my drink with a napkin, then carried on pouring the drink. I had to ask for fresh glass. Very miserable man that served with no interest whatsoever. Awful body language.
Air con and cleanliness of room. Good shower. Comfy beds.
The breakfast wasn't great.
Ideally placed for where we needed to go. Good pricing.
Clean abs tidy with a pub on site for a good breakfast. Excellent location for us when visiting family
Great food staff are brilliant as usual and comfortable rooms
Just getting bit more pricey last few months, only problem when great place stay
Clean, air on was great and decent price for a Friday night
Beds weren’t very comfortable and tv didn’t have signal, had to unplug the Ariel to get it to work
Property was clean and tidy staff were friendly
Comfort of room
Could have been better on cleanliness. Observed black mold in bathroom.
Location
Food made us sick pub needs deep clean and some new furniture
Location
Some Staff appeared to be ill or using drugs and it was dirty
Didn't have breakfast as we were busy visiting family and friends Air conditioning as was very hot ,came in useful
Bed very firm ,for side sleepers Couldnt get onto to internet ,until found a manager next day People staying above on first night was clomping around for about an hour ! Second night awoke by a staff member at 11:30 pm ,she had got wrong room
Aircon already on in the room when I arrived. Meant I got a great night sleep. 5 stars!
Notjing
Location was fine ideal for visiting family
Food was atrocious just warmed up microwave meals we asked for a table reservation before we arrived all the staff said was just go and sit at a table this is not we reserved. Attitude of staff was condescending only one male bartender helped us he felt guilty for not giving us a good service. Meals were cold, tables sticky disgusting really. Rooms were like ice boxes! Staff definitely need some sort of customer training
Close to download festival
Rooms are very similar to Premier Inns and of a same standard. Decent food in the pub restaurant.
Check-in experience could have been more enthusing
Staff brilliant
Could be more competitive for money
Fair sized rooms, normal facilities , nothing different to most hotels. Decent enough breakfast ,
Quite rude staff, maybe because they are part of the bar /restaurant they have a lot of rude people so they then become rude. I was greeted with a what name , no hello, how are you. Nada. Food was dry, overcooked, expensive and not very tasty. Uncomfortable beds, sofa bed had so many springs in it, probably better to sleep on the floor. Hotel is across the road from the reception so no one to ask anything from unless you go into the bar
The location was good, and the room was clean and spacious enough for us a family of 4.
The quality of our breakfast wasn't great, and the continental breakfast options were very limited due to stick availability despite arriving 20-30 before breakfast finished. The coffee machine was broken as well. Separately, I requested 2 additional pillows on arrival, which we never received.
Perfect for festivals retreat. Quiet, spacious and organised.
Location of hotel.
Uncomfortable bed Set up of bathroom, sink and toilet too close. Difficulty reaching soap dispenser
Good size clean room. Really good for business stop over
Great stay, really friendly staff, good food, room was spotless. Highly recommend.
Location
Comfy accommodation. Excellent staff
It was a wonderful stay
location great
Breakfast was very poor. The cheapest of ingredients. Bacon poor, baked beans the worst I ever tasted, poached egg pale and watery
Good room size
Breakfast starting at 8am on weekends. I needed to be away early.
Convenient location. Good food
Good value and location

What guests love
Areas to consider
Cleanliness
8/10Mostly reported as clean and tidy across many reviews, but a few serious negatives (room not cleaned for 3 nights, lack of towel changes, and an outside drain smell) lowered the score slightly.
Service
8.5/10Generally praised staff and friendly pub/bar staff in multiple reviews, though there are notable negative incidents (rude receptionist, a manager refusing an advertised offer) — overall service is positive but with a few impactful lapses.
Location
9/10Repeatedly highlighted as a strength: convenient for food outlets, Alton Towers travel, pub next door, and free parking; location consistently praised.
Room Quality
8.2/10Rooms described as comfortable, clean and with welcome air conditioning; some comments about beds being too firm for some guests and occasional initial temperature issues on arrival.
Amenities
8/10Good practical amenities mentioned (free parking, EV charging, play area, aircon). Some shared spaces (breakfast/bar area) have seen better days, so amenities are solid but not premium.
Value for Money
8.5/10Several guests called it good value or 'cheap and cheerful' and praised family rooms and space; a few issues (unexpected breakfast charges, food quality) temper this but overall value perception is positive.
Food and Beverage
7.8/10Mixed reports: many enjoyed the breakfast and pub meals, while others reported poor food quality (overcooked carvery, stale vegetables) and issues with advertised offers not being honoured.
Overall Experience
9.2/10Overall stays were described positively (good location, family-friendly, comfortable rooms, helpful staff in many cases), though occasional service failures and food/cleaning problems impacted some stays.
