Lovely rooms, comfortable bed, lots of communal spaces to relax, nice pool, though very shallow. Food was good. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Close to the beach across the railway line. Unable to swim due to time of year.

Es precioso, está decorado con mucho estilo, tiene pocas habitaciones por lo que tienes mucha sensación de tranquilidad e intimidad. El desayuno es a la carta y muy bueno. La piscina es muy bonita y está muy bien cuidada.

La playa está a escasos 100 metros cruzando la vía del tren, pero no nos bañamos porque había mucha corriente, no sé si siempre será así.

للأسف، تجربتي كانت مخيبة للآمال ولا أرى أن الفندق يستحق تصنيف خمس نجوم أو السعر المرتفع. النظافة كانت دون المستوى، والفرش والأسرة والأثاث قديمة ومستهلكة وتحتاج إلى تجديد. أما البعوض والوزغ والحشرات فكانت موجودة بشكل ملحوظ، وأتفهم أن طبيعة المنطقة وكثرة الأشجار قد تكون سببًا في ذلك، لكن كان من الممكن اتخاذ إجراءات أفضل للحد منها. أما الطعام فكان أكبر خيبة أمل؛ الجودة والخيارات لم تكن بالمستوى المتوقع، رغم أنني دفعت قيمة الوجبات مسبقًا ضمن الحجز. وبعد تجربتي الأولى للطعام، لم أتناول أي وجبة أخرى في الفندق واضطررت للبحث عن خيارات خارجية. السعر مرتفع جدًا مقارنة بالمستوى الفعلي، وأرى أن على Booking.com وإدارة الفندق إعادة النظر في التقييم والتصنيف. نصيحتي لمن يرغب بالحجز: إذا قررت الإقامة، فالأفضل حجز الغرفة فقط بدون وجبات، والبحث عن خيارات الطعام خارج الفندق. أما شخصيًا، فلا أنصح بالإقامة فيه، وهناك خيارات أفضل بكثير مقابل نفس السعر

Geweldig verblijf bij Tara Villas – The Long House! Prachtige, schone kamers, een rustige en sfeervolle omgeving en ontzettend vriendelijk personeel dat je echt in de watten legt. Ook het eten was heerlijk. We hebben enorm genoten en komen zeker nog eens terug. Absoluut een aanrader!

The villa and the property were absolutely fantastic. The design and space really set the place apart from other locations. The breakfast and restaurant in general were high quality, and you had both local and continental options for food. Staff was really helpful and kind. We'll especially have to thank the Assistant Manager at the villa, Mr. Sameera. The staff takes care of your needs and help you on your whole stay in Sri Lanka, not just the hotel related matters.

WiFi coverage was a bit spotty in some corners. Many people mention the train track passing by the property as a problem. This is unfortunately the reality with ALL of the properties on the coast, as the railway closely follows the coast line.

It was a lovely, small secluded property. Our room was lovely when we arrived. Nice pool.

Unfortunately there was a fly infestation that took us asking for the room to be cleaned a second time for anything to happen. We were assured after the first clean it was fine only for us to still find them in the room, curtains, bed, sink, etc. Management did not handle this appropriately and staff started to panic when we took photos and videos. As it is all open air there was nowhere else for us to sit except for the restaurant for 4 hours whilst they cleaned the room and there was no alternative room to move to. We weren’t offered water and we were charged for this upon checkout. Only when I asked to speak to the manager did he offer wine which we did not want. The restaurant has limited options and portion sizes varied with no options nearby so I’m glad we only stayed for 2 nights. Staff ask for orders in advance and they forgot we ordered the Sri Lankan breakfast on our last morning and it took ages. Jacuzzi part of pool stopped working. The fly infestation and managements response really ruined the end of our three week trip in Sri Lanka. The cost and lack of hospitality means I would not recommend this hotel.

Very good food, lovely staff. Very peaceful and quiet. We were initially in family suite, which was a bit noisy and light so we were moved to different rooms which were lovely and spacious with great outdoor sitting spaces. The beach was beautiful but a short walk away across the train track, which was a bit surprising as not exactly beachfront as we expected but there were not many trains passing.

Swimming pool was lovely but very shallow and you couldn’t swim all the length. Very small umbrellas over loungers so you never really had shade and no sun loungers on the beach which was a shame. It would be nice to have some gardens/vegetation by the pool, especially by the right wall.

Fabulous place - we spent our first night in Sri Lanka here and enjoyed every second. Super crammed, serene and relaxing. Very warm welcome by assistant manager Sameera. Incredible room with direct view of beach and sunset. Gorgeous Sri Lankan dinner and breakfast as well. Will definitely come back

Everything was perfect! The room was huge and had a wonderful view of the beach. The breakfast was delicious and we also had dinner at the hotel which was excellent. The staff were amazing. I highly recommend and would definitely stay here again.

Premium hotel with excellent service (9 rooms and a high staff to guest ratio). Sameera was especially helpful. Really outstanding breakfasts. The beach is just 100m away on the other side of the railway line and is fabulous.

I can't help but mention the proximity to the railway line with trains running from 0400 till maybe midnight.

This is an amazing small hotel in a fabulous location. The staff were brilliant led by Sameera who constantly checked all was well. The pool and quiet but vast beach were wonderful and very difficult to leave.

There was nothing that we didn’t like but the hotel would greatly benefit from a bar in which you could buy a glass of wine rather than only a full bottle. We would also have liked more choice on the menu.

Beautifully designed house by renowned architect Anjalendran. An absolute pleasure to stay in.

We had an incredible stay at this hotel – the rooms were absolutely amazing! Spacious, spotlessly clean, with plush beds that felt like sleeping on clouds. Every detail, from the modern amenities to the cozy lighting, made it feel like a luxurious home away from home. The service was top-notch too. The staff were friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond – from quick check-in to personalized food. All the meals were fresh and delicious. We’ll definitely be back!

There is something so calming and relaxing about this place. The understated elegance, tasteful decor, attentive, smiling staff. It is every bit as beautiful as the photos show, with spacious rooms and terraces. The fourposter beds with mosquito netting were kingly, bathrooms large and shower pressure strong. We would start every day with a long, relaxed breakfast, sipping cappucinos from 7.30 and often not finishing till 9.30, moving straight to the poolside. The egg hoppers benedict are to die for! The selection within the breadbasket hard to resist. The location is also great. Just a short walk to the surfers beach and to great restauranta like Nova Seafood and Boss of Prawns. Or from 4pm you can cross the road and get feeshly made roti and hoppers on the roadside. Overall, we were delighted and could not have had a better time. Two things to note: the pool is very shallow at one end, so not great for swimming lenghts but ideal for small kids; there is wine and beer but no hard liquor.

We loved everything about this hotel but our top 3 is: - The stunning pool and its view on the railway and the ocean - The delicious and decadent breakfast - The cleanliness of the room (family suite: huge and beautiful)

The pool is beautiful but not sure why most of it is so shallow (0.6 meters)!! The family suite was noisy & not sure what hit us but we all returned with lots of bites :(

The property has an open architecture, contemporary with local influences, big furniture pieces made of precious wood and lavish plants giving you a colonial coziness feel. It is very clean & the services are exceptional. The food is lovely.

Unsafe to swim in the sea directly outside the hotel. Obviously not the property’s fault but given how nice the beach is it was annoying.

Nous sommes arrivés de notre périple le 1 janvier au matin, assez tôt, et malgré cela nous avons été reçu avec le sourire et d’une manière tout à fait bienveillante et gentille. Le personnel est adorable, aux petits soins, on a même été les premiers à petit-déjeuner en 2026 dans l’hôtel! Incroyable! Tout était parfait, la suite la nourriture la plage les gens…. Un régal.

Das Taru Villas – The Long House ist ohne Frage ein sehr schönes Hotel. Die gesamte Anlage ist hervorragend gepflegt, die Zimmer sind äußerst stilvoll eingerichtet und das Essen – wenn auch eher westlich ausgerichtet – ist wirklich qualitativ hochwertig und lecker. Insgesamt wirkt alles sehr hochwertig und durchdacht. Der Service entspricht dem, was man im Land häufig erlebt – eher ruhig und langsam. Das empfinde ich nicht als Kritik am Hotel selbst, sondern als landestypische Mentalität und vollkommen in Ordnung.

Womit ich jedoch wirklich Schwierigkeiten hatte, war die Situation im Zimmer in Bezug auf Insekten. Gerade weil das Hotel direkt am Strand liegt und von viel Grün umgeben ist, sollte man meiner Meinung nach entsprechende Vorkehrungen im Zimmer erwarten. Dazu gehören etwa ein Moskitonetz am Bett, wirksame Mittel gegen Moskitos und Termiten, ätherische Öle oder Schutzgitter an Fenstern und Türen. Die offen gestaltete Dusche zur Außenseite hin ist zwar optisch reizvoll, aber zumindest eine Tür mit Insektenschutz zwischen Badezimmer und Zimmer hätte den Schlafkomfort deutlich verbessert. Ich schreibe dieses Feedback, weil mir ehrliche Rückmeldungen wichtig sind – besonders bei einem Haus, dessen Zimmer in der Hochsaison rund 400 $ pro Nacht kosten. Ich erwarte bei einem Hotel in dieser Preiskategorie mehr durchdachte Lösungen, insbesondere wenn es um erholsamen Schlaf geht. Den Preis empfinde ich aktuell ehrlicherweise nicht gerechtfertigt.

Absolutely amazing boutique hotel. One of the finest places I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying. The whole process was remarkable throughout. I would certainly like recommend this hotel. All the staff were extremely professional, thank you especially to Nimesh, Sahas and Kavindu.

Отель очень маленький, как такового детского клуба нет… завтрак не шведский стол: все выбираете по меню… бассейн маленький на фото один - и вот практически вся зона. Мы переночевали там одну ночь и съехали в другой отель - потому что привыкли совсем к другому.. Просто выброшенные на ветер деньги.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Long House. All of the staff were excellent, the room was very comfortable and the location perfect for our first stop in Sri Lanka.

If I was staying again with our toddler I’d book a ground floor room for safety as the stairs to the pool were right at our balcony entrance which made us a little on edge.

The rooms were beautifully decorated and had a feeling of pure luxury with a touch of uniqueness.

Only a small thing but the proximity of the railway line which were quite noisy.

One of the rooms was booked for triple adults. The single bed put was for a child- just lucky the person sleeping on it was not tall. Being a triple adult room booking we had to remind the staff about the extra towel, tea cup and water glass.

Prachtig ingerichte, ruime familiekamer met 2 aparte slaapkamers. Heerlijke bedden en mooie badkamer. Het personeel is zo aardig en doet alles om het naar je zin te maken.

Amazing location, you can see the ocean from the property, which is like a 5 min leisurely walk. Spotless clean, friendly and helpful staff. We went in off peak season so we got a good discount - which was great.

If there is something that could be a little better that would perhaps be the choice of seafood, fish etc at a reasonable price being so close to the sea. The Sri Lankan cuisine was amazing though!

Excellent location. For Indians it's like visiting south goa. But a much cleaner quiet place. Excellent food. The hospitality was great. The staff are so welcoming and accommodating. The pool was well maintained. The room was clean and big enough for us and our baby.

The railway line right in front of the pool and between the property and the beach. People with toddlers who like to run around should be really careful. Somehow they didn't have fresh fish for my entire stay of six nights

the staff is amazing and so is the building. The pool is outstanding and the entire look and feel is stunning. The train running through the grounds adds to the special vibe (although it can be loud and smelly at times)

The room pricing was much higher booking online in advance compared to booking (an even better additional room) on location. Also the second bedroom in the family suite is more for kids (and not, in our case, a hosting a family of 4 adults in two bedrooms). This 2nd bedroom is not shown on any pictures and the family room is on the noisy side of the hotel. The rest of the hotel is much more quiet.

Exceptional stay. From the moment we walked in and received our welcome popsicles to the moment we reluctantly left, everything was impeccable. The team was so supportive and helpful with our children, food was incredible (Hoppas Benedict was incredible and make sure you order the curry one of the nights!) Pool and outlooks is beautiful, excellent access to the beach (watch out for the train!). I spent a lot of time looking at accomodation in this area and looked at many reviews. I don't think you could pick a better place to stay. Incredibly comfortable, kind staff, great common areas and the food was amazing. I would highly reccomend staying here.

Very little. Honestly, I can't think of anything. What I would say, however, as we were travelling with two kids, is that these ae hotel rooms and not one bedroom rooms. So everyone is in the same room. That said, there is a beautiful common lounge area outside the room and a lovely private balcony, so you have plenty of room to have space.

The ambience, the room, the food and the service was exceptional. Very cozy, quiet and relaxing. We had a wonderful time.

Die Lage des Hotels ist ausgezeichnet. Der Strand sauber, wunderschön und Menschenleer was uns sehr gefiel. Die vorbeifahrenden Züge empfanden wir nicht als störend sondern eher als authentisch für Sri Lanka. Danke an das Personal welches immer sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit war. Schon nach einer Nacht fühlten wir uns heimisch. Das Zimmer selbst wahr sehr großzügig mit einem tollen Bad und bequemen Betten zudem gab es noch eine angenehme Terrasse. Das Essen sowohl Frühstück als auch Abendessen waren ausgezeichnet man merkte das alles frisch zubereitet wurde. Wir können das Hotel nur jedem vorbehaltslos empfehlen. Wir kommen seit 15 Jahren nach Sri Lanka und das war bisher unser schõnster Aufenthaltsort.

Einige Kleinigkeiten was keinesfalls das Gesamtbild trüben soll fand ich kritikwürdig. Als passionierter Biertrinker gefiel mir das Servieren in Dosen nicht. Warum werden keine Flaschen genutzt ? Der Kaffee schmeckte wie scheinbar überall in Sri Lanka nicht wirklich gut. Die Abrechnung bzw Preisauszeichnung fand ich eigenartig. Preise in den Speise- und Getränkekarten wurden in US Dollar angegeben die Abrechnung erfolgte dann in Rupien. Alle Preise waren Nettopreise es kammen jeweils noch Service-Gebühren und Steuern dazu. Aber wie geschrieben das waren nur Kleinigkeiten die als Anregung zu Verbesserungen zu sehen sind.

Un solo piccolo appunto, essendo la doccia all’aperto (bellissima)collegata con il bagno chiaramente entrano le zanzare anche in bagno e di se non si chiude la porta, entrano anche in camera. Dovrebbero per lo meno mettere degli zampironi o qls in bagno per marginare il problema

The location was amazing and best part is the friendly staff. The airline had lost my luggage and the villa staff helped me with everything I needed, be it with buying the clothes or calling the airline people they were there for me the whole time . Specially the manager Mr.Lalit went above and above and beyond to make sure our experience was really memorable.

We absolutely loved our stay at Taru Villas The Long House! The hotel was so beautifully designed and was very unique to anything else we’ve seen before. The service we received from every staff member we encountered was amazing, everyone was so welcoming and kind. We loved our breakfast each morning, and pool swims were great too.
