Staff were lovely and room was perfect for our needs
No complaints
Lovely staff beautiful food Lovely beding and comfortable we just was unlucky the time we was thery a problem with the toilet in our room all night the toilet was very lond but we told them when we was booking out so hopefully it gets sorted out but as not put use off would go again 😀 👍 😄
Staff and the bed and food all off it
Good breakfast, good evening meal. Friendly helpful staff.
Room ready for an update.
a good pub hotel for an overnight stop on the road, with a pint in the evening and a place to sleep.
Lovely olde-worldly place, dating back to when drovers moved their flocks across the Dales. Owned by a French chef, the meals were superb, with a shoutout to a chicken and leek shortcrust pastry pie, full of meat and delicious. The staff were friendly and made us welcome
Nothing
the food was absolutely superb - dinner and breakfast
nothing
The food at the Clarendon was excellent The evening meal menu was either restaurant or Pub grub We chose the pub meal which was excellent. Breakfast was cooked with high quality local produce Our room was quite small but clean and comfortable . The pub had ample parking too It was ideal for our short stay
The homely feel, Freddie was very helpful We enjoyed meeting the local people and other guests for evening meals. Meals where nice the Caesar salad was lovely Location beautiful for long walks.
The room was not replenished or cleaned in 7 days including towels. The bed and linens need to be replaced old and tired. The fan in the very small bathroom not working at all. Could also do with some form of cooling air conditioner or ceiling fans. No other restaurants near by
Good
We were welcomed and checked in swiftly. The staff made great efforts to advise us about local spots. The food was wholesome, tasty and big! The pate starter was equally tasty. As an aside, if you can time your visit to be on a Sunday evening you can join a most informal and enjoyable pub quiz where the relaxed quiz meister sits at the bar ( having won last week s/he has to set this week's quiz) and reads out great questions and bats aside very good banter. It turned into a night we'll never remember. Great pub, great people.
Not a problem for us we were on a cycling trip,, the pub is a couple of miles from a village. The village is Grassington where much of the new version of All Creatures Great and Small is featured.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was very good and very generous portions. It was in a very good spot near Grassington and in the lovely rolling hills of the Dales. The bed was very comfy with clean bedding.
Our ensuite was very small with the shower cubicle hardly big enough to turn around. The mirror over the basin was too low and the light over it didn’t work.
Location and very friendly staff.
Could be a little cleaner with regard to the dusting.
Nice friendly staff good food in a good location with nice walks. dog friendly and good parking
A bit tired in places decoration wise
From arriving to leaving we had no concerns at all. We was made very welcome , the staff went above and beyond to make our short stay comfortable . The food is amazing and accommodation perfect . Lovely location .
This pub is the real deal on service and hospitality. Our bedroom was comfortable and nicely decorated. The breakfast was fabulous and really high quality. We particularly liked the homemade yogurt! The pub is situated very close to gorgeous walks!
Apologies but we liked it all a lot.
A great country pub
The room was too small
The food quality was the best part of this stay and guess thats where they gain stars.
Very tired looking decor in a room for £130.00 a night. Door paint scratched I guess with dogs staying in this particular room. I will add I did not have a dog with me. The shower unit had black mould on the ceiling, the room was on a main road, and above the bar, a little noisy. The mirror had not been cleaned in a while, I was able to write on it with my finger. The toilet made a very strange noise when flushed. The window boxes were very neglected with dead plants. Summer heat was not an excuse as along in the village at Grassington the flowers were abundant in everyone's garden and hotel and restaurants. I did not stay my second night but of course had to pay. Overall very disappointing 😞
Lovely staff, comfortable, spacious room. Good location for exploring Wharfedale and surrounding area.
On a very hot night in August, a fan would have been very welcome. Having to have the window wide open to let in some air meant the close proximity to the road made it very noisy.
Sehr süßes Hotel, sehr sauber und hübsch. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Vielen Dank an das freundliche Personal.
Food was excellent both evening and breakfast
Last meal order 6.30.
I’ve already done a review on this stay.
Comfortable room with good facilities. Great dinner and breakfast
Nothings
Nice old building and pub
See above.
The breakfast and meals were very very good
Firstly the room was shabbily decorated, there were extension cables running around the room for tv and kettle, the lampshade on the side of the bed had wires coming out of the top where the bulb was definite health and safety issue, we asked for a double bed and got two singles pushed together, every 30 mins during the night the toilet system would go off, most definitely would not recommend to stay here to anyone until those issues were addressed.
The meals were excellent , well prepared, Cooked and presented - both dinner and breakfast .
On a main road - not the best for dogs !
The staff was excellent. Could not fault the food location perfect Although the rooms are not serviced whilst you are there the staff could not do enough for you
The rooms although lovely and clean are looking tired and need to be spruced up a little
Friendly staff and excellent food
Nothing
The breakfasts were excellent, with lots of fresh fruits and cereals available. The cooked breakfast was really nicely. done. The evening meals were also very good, with something for everyone. The room was comfortable with great views. Both the staff and the locals are very friendly. We had a great visit!
Decor is getting a bit tired. Otherwise nothing to report.
Outstanding food and the staff couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. Beautiful surroundings and great for walks.
Room decor was a little dated...especially the bathroom. And it was on the small side but that waa reflected in the price.
Food excellent, facilities homely but a little tired
Just said it above
La colazione e il personale della colazione
Era distante dal paese
Breakfast very good. enjoyed the stay .
Evening meal - the fried chips fell short of expectation.
The location is good and close to many walks
If would have been good to have a clean toilet as well as clean sheets and a comfortable bed
Room was nice & clean, we had a meal which was very nice, the surrounding area was lovely 😊
All good 😊
The hotel is a gem, bed so comfortable & towels so fluffy! Lots of nice touches in the room, water , fresh milk, selection of teas and coffee & chocolate too! Food was amazing & huge credit to Freddy and his team who looked after me &made me very welcome. Would definitely book again
There wasnt anything that I disliked
Vriendelijk personeel, goed ontbijt, mooie kamer
Helaas ligt het hotel aan een drukke weg
Great location, easy to park. Friendly staff, very helpful. We were in Deer/ Stag room, over looking front of property. Able to get cold bottled water and fresh milk as needed for room. Freshly cooked breakfast, good choices.
The main road can be noisy at times but this didn’t disturb us during the night. A fan for the room might be a good idea in warm weather.
Hotel, staff, food, room/comfort. Location. All very good.
'Can't really think of anything we didn't like.
Location was good Food was nice
It was a very hot weekend when we were there, and umbrellas would have been nice over the tables outside to shelter from the sun. Also in need of fresh paint here and there as looking very tired now.
Breakfast ok room absolutely dirty black mould in shower which we refused to use lots of dirt under table ,skirting boards hanging off, dirty windows limescale in kettle I wanted to leave but husband persuaded me to stay as we had already paid £290
Everything it needed a good clean.
Nice inn and good location, with good food
Quiet location, close to the Dales features we wanted to see. Very good breakfasts and dinners.
Friendly staff, good location, comfortable beds, lovely breakfast
Requires a lot of TLC, Dead flies on windowledge in room, stains in bathroom extractor fan didn't work, when the toilet was flushed and cold tap used then horrendous noise which happened all night so must be other users as well which disturbed our sleep. If you want an evening meal then check menu first as not traditional pub food ie pigs trotters. When we checked out we asked for our bill and it was completely wrong, they had not deducted the deposit we paid 4 weeks prior and there were drinks and food on there that we hadn't had. The manager was not on site so we paid what we owed and showed the lady the email I had confirming the deposit which she took a picture of.
The staff were very friendly and helpful
Nothing
Excellent location and plenty parking. Decent sized room.
Entrance doorway needed a little tidying up! Window in bedroom wouldn’t fully close. Although one has to bear in mind it is a very old building.
Nice food and good breakfast, friendly staff.
Room was small, bathroom small with a poor and noisy plumbing system
Not very much. There was a warm welcome from a member of staff although it was too much trouble to call a taxi for me. And although I had paid for breakfast it wasn’t served until 8.30 (this on a weekday morning) so I had to miss it.
My room was pretty horrible: A bed patently not suitable for hotel use with a particularly poor mattress. A bathroom desperately in need of refurbishment (they could start with getting rid of the rusting towel rail) and a general grubbiness all round. The coffee pot in my room had a mould growth about the size of a tennis ball. And the table at which I had an evening meal was sticky to the touch.
Freddie and the staff were very pleasant and attentive. Nothing too much trouble. Food was excellent.
The area
Filthy room, dirty carpet, mould in the shower, rusty towel rail, mouldy cushion on the bed, knobs hanging off wardrobe drawers with screws sticking out which I caught my leg on. Very dated & dirty pub
Staff are really lovely and very friendly and welcoming. Food is good - especially breakfast. Our dog was made very welcome. Our room was very clean and the bed was comfy. Hebden is a nice little village with plenty of walks on your doorstep. The Clarendon is well positioned for walking the Dales Way. It’s a pleasant walk to Grassington and also to Burnsall.
Rooms could do with a bit of updating/maintenance.. our room was clean but the decor looks a bit tired and things like the loo roll holder need fixing.
The location was excellent for getting to different locations within the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The staff was wonderful. Freddie printed out PDF maps for me that I had forgotten to do before our trip. The breakfast server was the BEST! And the breakfast itself was the best on our trip. The dinner we had there was also excellent.
Unfortunately, the rooms, while clean and comfortable (we saw 2 of them), need some TLC. (The public areas were all very nice though).
The hotel is sei in a beautiful village with plenty of lovely walks
Lhotel could do with some TLC and spruce up
Lovely country pub.
Friendly staff, comfortable well equipped rooms. Very good breakfast and delicious food in the bar/restaurant. Excellent location, fantastic walks from the pub door. Quiz night on a Sunday! We loved it, thanks to all.
The food is amazing from the breakfast to the evening meal - local produce etc.
Great location, friendly staff.
The pub is good but the rooms are very dated and in need of renovation. Wood-chip wallpaper, badly stained carpets, dated and broken furniture. It’s REALLY not worth £130 a night - the accommodation is 2*
The bedroom and bathroom were a bit shabby for the price
Welcoming friendly pub. Food was excellent 👌 home made. Room very clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay again. Excellent service at breakfast and a delicious home made full English.
Everything was brilliant
Great rooms, food and staff, even a community pub quiz that we were encouraged to join. Fabulous place to stay while walking the Dales Way.
Na
Lovely landlady and bar staff Great food
Room was small and scruffy and very dated woodchip paper on the bathroom, holes in the carpet where it had been cut to fit.
The breakfast was good the staff were really nice and friendly
Nothing it all was good
The staff were really friendly and polite the bed was super comfy and clean and breakfast lovely nothing too much trouble with plenty of parking drink prices were reasonable
We stayed in the grouse which was a large room because its an old building the plumbing was noisy and decor a bit dated and a dripping cold tap but wouldnt put me off staying again
It was clean, staff were friendly and welcoming.
Great food, comfy beds and friendly staff. My main point would be that the restaurant undersells itself; it advertises fish & chips, burgers and gammon and chips. The reality is far from that. We had a very high quality pie and there was other great selections on the menu. Great breakfast also. Well stocked bar.
I have been several times and I enjoy it very much
Everything was great
Very friendly staff and nice terrace to sit in the sunshine.
Food very poor. Ordered fish and it was mainly batter. Ordered mushy peas and got garden peas. Breakfast overcooked bacon and sausage and items on the plate I did not order - black pudding. The room was very small and needs a refresh and new carpet. Disappointing at the price of the room.
Homemade yoghurt in individual jars was really tasty at breakfast. All staff really friendly especially at breakfast, friendly chatty lady. Pillow, duvet, mattress really nade for a good night's sleep
Macerator when tap water turned on or toilet flushed in ensuite.
Breakfast was excellent. Shona, who served us each morning, was brilliant.
The pub needs a good refresh. The front of the pub is grim and does not look like the image shown on the advert.. A bit of effort could easily improve the look . The room had no hooks to hang anything, including in the shower room. Again, an easy fix. The one meal that we had was well below expectations , very poor.
The location was very good. Breakfast was excellent and dinner and service were also good. Top marks to Scarlet who was utterly charming and helpful. And a special mention for Shona who brightened our breakfast.
The bathroom was awful ( room 6). Little more than a cupboard with poor fittings and a lack of planning to utilise the existing space. No shelf space, no hooks on the wall. Nowhere to put anything. Definitely needs a refurb. There was no hairdryer in the room and we had to ask for one, which fortunately turned up. Thank you Scarlet!
Really friendly staff. Amazing food. Really accommodating, especially for people with a dog. Great spot for anyone who's exploring the area.
No complaints at all.
The staff were really friendly and the food was lovely.
The room was so unlean. There were cobwebs on the light and the curtain pole. The dust on the skirting boards and the wardrobe was bad, the carpet was dirty. There was so much mould in the bathroom and around the window. It was so bad in the bathroom, huge patch's of it as the extractor fan was so clogged up it wasn't working so there is no ventilation. It generally felt so unclean.
The staff were over & above - very welcoming
Nothing
The surroundings, great location , the food the staff were lovely
Could do with a link of paint
East access Parking available On site bar
Room a little cramped, but no worse that a cruise cabin !
Cosy hotel. Nice food and decent bar
Nothing to complain about
All staff were friendly & welcoming
The room was clean but in need of a refresh
Breakfast very good , staff very helpful
The beer selection
Lovely Breakfast and we ate there both nights , food was of very high standard.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Good food.
Room outdated and no hot water!
The staff were lovely
The shower was cold.
Charming, location and staff were incredible The food is absolutely phenomenal.
Wonderful food and exceptionally friendly staff.
Meals were excellent
Love this place. Visited several times and will visit again. Food exceptional, staff exceptional. Comfortable friendly hotel it’s one of our favourite places in a beautiful area. Special thank you to Freddie who is a one off and to Lionel the owner for his excellent food and the effort made by him and all his staff for an excellent evening.
The Clarendon was very welcoming for with dogs. Lovely room. Very comfortable bed. Breakfast excellent. Shona was so lovely. She made sure wr we had everything. She is an asset to the Clarendon. Will definitely recommend. Evening meal was lovely.
Nothing. All good
There wasn’t much room to sit and relax , it’s quite small and all tables are made up for food either than relaxing and unwinding. More restaurant than just chilling in front of a log fire . It is a little tired looking and could do with a freshen up. Staff were lovely, it was just the place a little disappointed. The fire alarm went off at 7.45 am and there was no reason for this , we were all up at this point 😔
It could do with a good revamp
The location of the pub was good for walking in Wharfdale. The front of house staff were attentive and friendly.
The pub looked shabby and wasn’t particularly clean. The bedroom was very basic and the heating not very effective on a cold day. The food was almost good but the chefs were very young and probably needed a bit more direction. It was expensive for what it was.
Room was ok but a little dissapointing. First night lock didnt work, ensuite needs attention but bedroom itself decent enough. No room service but it is a pub with rooms and dont doubt staff would have accommodated any reasonable requests. Breakfast was delicious and plenty of options, set you up for the day. Staff all friendly. Dinners ok but pricey for what you get and dissapointed with game dishes on offer after seeing all its awards. Sausages most dissapointing as they were just same breakfast sausages, nice at brekkie but not really dinner. Not much accompanies the dinner dishes.
ensuite very small and needs a refurb with panels falling off shower tray, boxing behind wc was off and brackets left on wall where something was removed. Shower access difficult as door opens against basin. On a sanifo so loud at night if using loo but not much they can do about that one.
Breakfast and dinner both very good, menu specialised in game and when we arrived the pub was full of staff from a neighbouring shoot who were enjoying themselves immensely, staff helpful and friendly, location very attractive and good for walking dog.
The room had been modernised but in a slightly generic boutique hotel style way that was a bit uncomfortable, the bathroom was so small it was difficult to turn round in. The staff, however were all lovely and the food was very good.
Very friendly and welcoming. Great location and wonderful venison.
Located near to many walks so did not need to use the car . Near to a fantastic Tea Rooms . Our room was quiet despite being over a pub. Lovely food . Staff , particularly Shona and the blonde waitress in the evenings were wonderful - very helpful . The bed was comfy .
Just a slight comment that the ceiling in the bathroom was a bit stained ? Damp .
The staff were excellent. I had an amazing night's sleep. The breakfast was absolutely lovely.
