Handy being right in town. It was private, comfy bed.

Small room, having the sink in the room was weird, wall paper coming off, dents, holes in the wall, place needs renovating majorly!. No place to park your car , sink was rusty. No shower gel, no shampoo, no conditioner.

No cleaning service in the restrooms, bar open till midnight every night, windows couldn't be closed

Shared Bathrooms were mouldy, kitchen cabinets and drawers were damaged, cooking facilities not adequate - bbq style hob was in the room which was filthy. No ventilation in rooms causing condensation. DO NOT RECOMMEND, SAVE YOUR MONEY.

Convenient location with awesome pub underneath - definitely worth eating there.

The shower soap was empty and there was a lot of noise from outside early in the morning.

If location is the only thing that is important to you, than this is the place. We checked in and immediately regretted our decision and ended up booking a lovely airbnb down the road that was clean. I didn't even want to sit on the bed at the horse and jockey.

Food in the restaurant was great.. The beds were comfortable. It was clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Not enough towels. Only one bath towel and nothing else. No hand towel, no face cloth, no bath mat.

The pub was nice. The hotel was not nice.

The extremely loud music going until 1am was too much to bear. Could not even hold a conversation in our room over the booming disco music. Booking.com should not be promoting this place. It is a complete rip off. The bathrooms were not clean and had no lock. The room had no place to put your things other than the floor.

Room was not very clean, very old with broken bed legs the collapsed during the night and had to prop up for the remainder of the sleep. There was no hot water in the morning and very temperamental to maintain even temp in the evening. No TV in room or in any common area.

It is an old pub hotel and the facilities match what you would expect from a premises built in the early 20th Century. There were communal bathrooms etc. I was oaky with that. It was handy that the restaurant was just downstairs.

Great central location in the town. Bed extremely comfortable. Room large with private bathroom.

Very tired and dated looking accommodation - both room, private bathroom and shared kitchen area. Although it looked clean superficially, it didn't 'feel' clean, particularly carpets and upholstery. Shower pressure was poor and the drainage was slow. Shower curtain not adequate to stop floor flooding. Fixtures and fittings all rusted.

Once the music from the bar stopped at around 11pm I was kept awake by a generator running on and off most of the night. Had to close the window to reduce the noise -in an already hot room.

Service was very good and helpful and very polite with smiles and clean will book their again well done 👍🙂😎

I loved the first room I slept in, a lovely bed, clean sheets and spacious bathroom, however when I came back the second afternoon/ evening I was shocked find a young man had moved into my room and was sleeping in my bed. I was impressed with the new male manager and a delightful female staff member, who was on duty that afternoon/evening. Both staff members apologised, and went above and beyond to rectify this problem. The young guy and I met for a beer in the dining room and we saw the funny side of things. The best beer I have ever had, Thank you.

When I returned the second afternoon/evening, I was shocked to find a young man had moved into my room and was sleeping in my bed, my property had been REMOVED by a staff and I was NOT informed of any of these changes by reception, I even double checked with the young man at reception in the morning and arranged to pay for extra nights. I had NO idea why this occurred, I found this very unprofessional and I was very upset that my luggage and personal items were handled by a staff member, and relocated to a smaller room up the hall without a private bathroom. I was exhausted after my flight from Brisbane to Auckland and the coach trip to Mata Mata and needed a safe and stable space to rest and recharge without all this upheaval.

they could have had the room I booked in the first instance ( Queen with private bathroom) and not blame booking.com for their incompetence and then try and give me a room that I did not book or wanted, maintenance on the interior bad, paint peeling off walls and out of order bathrooms

Summer time needed air conditioning rooms very hot fans not doing anything just circulating warm air. Shower not cleaned door had last tenants grimes on door I can imagine the walls.

Run, dont walk, from this place. The rooms are quite uncomfortable. Extremely stuffy and not even a small table or desk to put things. Wi-Fi only works on some of the rooms. There is a small kitchenette on the end of the hallway, but I did not know until the morning as the staff didn’t tell me and there is no information in the rooms. The worst thing was my room was infected with bedbugs. When I contacted the staff on duty at 2 AM, they accused me of bringing the bedbugs in with me. He did not let me remove my things from the room as he did not want another room infected. I am traveling by bicycle and this was the first hotel on my trip. I am very sensitive to bugs while sleeping, and would have woken up immediately in an another setting if there is an issue with bedbugs. I knew immediately when I turned the light off something was crawling all over me. My arms were burning. I found many bedbugs, waiting in the sheets in the morning for me when I went back to get my things. There was black spotting on the mattress and in the sheets, which is an indication of a bedbug infestation. I did not bring these bugs in with me. The owner did not offer me a refund.

La atención del personal, fueron amables. Nuestra reserva no estaba impresa, mientras la chica que nos atendió fue a buscarla, sus compañeros se preocuparon por atender la recepción.

Instalaciones un poco viejas, un poco de pintura a las paredes de la habitación estaría bueno, pues se encuentran manchadas y no da buen aspecto.

Management & staff were excellent. Courteous & very professional. Room & bedding was tidy & neat. Having a band in the garden bar the 1st night & DJ 2nd night did not bother us as the place was soundproof. Undisturbed sleep. Grandaughter n mumma visited on both days. Once door was closed, we did not hear other visitors walking around down corridor.

Not a biggie, but I noticed that there were no 'hand towels' although we had an extra bath towel that we used instead & bathroom window was stuck closed

Location was excellent in walking distance of every thing e.g shops cafe's and other bars, plus the RSA where our EME reunion was held

No complaints, I enjoyed my whole 2 days stay, My accommodation was excellent, room was spotless, found no faults at all, staff very helpful and friendly, most accommodating indeed.Entertainment never bothered me as I had been pre- warned when I booked the accommodation. Awesome weekend

No the kitchen let the over all place down. Staff exellent, bathrooms clean bedding great. Just not useful kitchen no kettle fridge grubby no tea coffee, but had good stay and would stay again

Staff very friendly! Craig and Sunny were amazing! Great food, the cheese garlic toasties were my fav ☺️ great walking distance for Matamata info center for Hobbiton tour. Got back late and felt safe walking back in the dark.

it was in a very good location with shops everywhere and every thing you need right around the corner

the bathroom had stray hairs (not ours), there were moths and mosquitos in the shower. The heater didnt work at night.

Second time staying here, very nice

It was fine - relatively safe - a bit loud till late at night - but expected for being just above a pub. Rooms are pretty austere. I think a complementary water bottle or two would have been helpful during my late night search for water.

The food was great the staff was great and the rooms were great 👍
