Lovely clean room and en- suite. Decorated to a high standard had a really comfortable night. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Great breakfast with lots of choices. Eggs Royal were super. On arrival had tea and scones , and room ready early of us.

Fairly steep steps to the bedroom, and staff offered to take our bags up for us.

The staff were excellent - very friendly, polite and professional. The breakfast was great - freshly cooked to order and delicious. The property is in a small village location with a local shop (Teco) and a few pubs and restaurants. We ate both nights at the Rose & Crown and thought it was very good. Small car park but plenty of off street parking too.

Staff were all very helpful and friendly and wanted to make your stay enjoyable.

Room 5 is our new favourite room, we have stayed before but never been allocated this room, it’s lovely!

Chef didn’t turn up to cook breakfast until 10am! Not the establishments fault however, there was no contingency plan, no one else apparently knew how to turn on the ovens or cook. There was no offer of compensation or suggestion of a solution. There was cereal and toast available. I think owners should have made arrangements with a local cafe or hotel to provide a breakfast.

Het ligt vrij kort bij de boot. En was niet heel duur. Netjes water op de kamer in flesjes. Douche is OK. Prima koffie.

Het bed was echt slecht. Veren steken je gewoon in de rug. Badkamer had iets schoner gemogen. Ontbijt is pas vanaf 9.00 uk time. Dame kwam 8.58 binnen en toen moest de koffiemachine nog opwarmen. Kok kwam nog een kwartier later. Al met al net voor 10 uur het ontbijt. Je moet geen haast hebben.

The service and staff were friendly.

The signage was confusing, rose and crown is in small letters under tipsy tea rooms when driving past easy not to notice. Maybe a note in how to find us would help others.

Old fashioned in a good way. Nice to see as most places now tend to make themselves modern in their decor.

Breakfast not served until 9am waited 25mins for a breakfast which appeared to be cooked in the microwave as everything was excessively hot and was not ediable, bacon like leather, poached egg solid yolk, hasbrown lumpy, mushroom rubbery, sausage rank, baked beans dried out, would not recommend, even had to make own toast and coffee and cup I picked up was old and had stain in the bottom of the cup.

Temprature in the room exceeded 30 degrees and the fan did not work, reported to staff whom couldnt get less and said they had no alternative fans on site, so we slept in a sweatbox, 12am and patrons were outside in car park shouting with a teenager crying, this went on for at least 30mins and no one appeared to challenge them to keep voices down even though there at least a dozen people out there.

Kamer had tien balken van 175cm hoog. Dat moet wel vermeld worden voor iemand van 195cm lang.

Breakfast was excellent wide choice of hot and cold food . Evening meals were excellent and good value for money.

My partner drinks ale and unfortunately there was very little choice.

Super friendly and welcoming staff who regularly checked if everything was okay, including the lovely meals. Great location too as only 10 mins drive to Frinton-on-Sea.

Lovely friendly staff. A beautiful, traditional pub in a lovely village setting. Our room was modern and comfortable, with a lovely comfy bed. A fan was provided as it was a hot week which was great. The food was delicious both in the evening and for breakfast.

No real negatives but if I'm being really picky, the stairs up to the rooms were quite steep and not ideal for our middle-aged knees. Parking was limited so it might be tricky to find a place on a busy night in the pub, but we managed fine. The cooked food was lovely for breakfast but limited cold selection. Coffee had to be ordered separately as only hot water was provided on the breakfast buffet table. It took us ages to turn on the light in the bathroom due to how the switches were wired which was quite entertaining but got there eventually.

We hadden achteraf beter kunnen zeggen dat we toch twee aparte bedden hadden gewild. Het was best krap en dat zijn we niet gewend. Ze hadden het nog gevraagd, dom van ons.

The meal we had in the rester-aunt on the evening was only average , we both had gammon fried egg and chips , the chips were frozen or oven which was a shame to spoil a nice place. It takes a few minutes to peel a few potatoes and nowadays can be air fried in no time

Lovely welcoming and friendly atmosphere, the room was excellent very clean and comfortable, and a spacious bathroom, breakfast was more than substantial. In all a lovely stay. I would definitely recommend

We hadden een grote kamer onder het dak. Weliswaar netjes en ruim, maar het was er snik heet en geen ventilator.

Honestly loved it. Only one thing I can think of is my room was up 2 flights of stairs. No problem for me but might be a problem for some. Worth it to be honest the room was massive .

Location was as expected on the main road (busy during the day, but fine in the evening). The staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms clean and comfortable.

Weather was hot and the fan in room inadequate. It seemed to take a long time to get served if you wanted a cooked breakfast.

Liegt gut zentral im Ort. Fußläufig jede Menge andere Pubs zu erreichen.

An einer vielbefahrenden Straße, Zimmer zur Straße sehr laut. Zimmer im Dach brachial heiß. 2 Ventilatoren reichen da nicht aus. Schlecht funktionierende Duscharmaturen. Wenig Handtücher.

Was a bit hot in the restaurant and room, so better cooling system would be good. There were big stains on the quit cover. Most of the food was good but my wife’s jacket potato was under cooked and hard.

The location was ideal for us. The breakfast was excellent.

Excellent staff, rooms comfortable and clean. Breakfast has a good choice and cooked to order. Dinner maybe could give a wider choice, but all food excellent. This is our third visit over a few years and would be happy to book again.

It was perfect location for us visiting family in Thorpe le Soken

The road outside was unexpectedly busy all night. The mattresses had a ridge around the edge. The pillows were thin. Breakfast was included in the price but took 45 minutes from ordering and we were one of 3 tables of 2 in the room.

Perfect for weekend break

1. Great welcome from staff on arrival; 2. We were lucky to get one of the limited parking spaces on site, but there is also plenty of space nearby on the road; 3. Due to hot weather the staff had added a fan in the room which worked well - my wife really appreciated this; 4. Really nice to be able to relax in the pub downstairs for a drink & snack; 5. The room & furnishing are simple/ basic but we had everything we needed including kettle, tea, coffee etc. 6. Very convenient location / stopover on way to North Sea ferry the next morning

Good value for money - so cannot be faulted; breakfast is only served from 09:00 onwards, so we missed this because of early ferry

Very clean rooms. Good value for money and great breakfast. Fan was perfect in this hot weather and plug sockets were perfectly positioned for drying/styling your hair.

Rooms needed a long mirror (even on the back of a door) and a shelf in bathroom. As a women these are things I always look for in a hotel room as I like to see my whole outfit with shoes and somewhere to put my makeup and vanity bag in the bathroom when I use them. These are often lacking in many hotel rooms.

This is one of my favourite places to stay when I am in the area. Great, friendly pub serving quality home made food.

We live over 200 miles away but were visiting the area to see an elderly relative. The room (number 5) was large. Parking was no problem. Staff were excellent as was the freshly cooked breakfast.

Although the room was large it was at the top of the pub and access was up two, quite narrow, staircases. We are both in our 70s and a more accessible room would have been preferable. The bathroom was long and narrow with a very tiny basin, not really big enough for a wet shave. There were low beams in both the room and bathroom which I just avoided knocking my head on (I am just 6' tall). There was tea and coffee in the room - some biscuits would have been a welcome addition. Yoghurt and fruit would be a good addition to the cereal option at breakfast.

De mooie schone kamer. Het eten was uitstekend en gezellig bij de oen haard. Omdat we vroeg naar de boot moesten heeft de kok 2 lunch pakketten meegegeven.

De verwarming deed het niet. Bij navraag kregen we een goede oplossing middels een elektrische kachel.

This was our 4th Easter weekend and as usual the staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Our evening meal was tasty and filling, with an excellent cheeseboard. As we needed to be at a local competition early on the Sunday, they once again happily let us pre order the cooked breakfast the night before, and allowed us in just before 9 to start with the continental breakfast.

Not really a dislike, but found the room a little warm and the fan wasn't usable.

Friendly team…nothing was too much trouble. They allowed us all into our rooms by 11.30 which was so perfect as we had to change and drop off our stuff before a 1pm wedding nearby. Clean rooms. Good breakfast.

Small details: Pillows a bit lumpy. Full length mirror would have been useful. A bit of fruit and yogurt at breakfast for those not having cooked options.

Due to a singer in the pub downstairs it was very loud in the room till around 11.30pm, but once that had finished was very quiet

The location as visiting someone in the village.

It's an expensive pub/eatery. Single gin £5.30, no mixer.. bar staff did not give a welcome you expect with a B&B. On entry to the rooms, first climb 13 steep stepped staircase. Then a few more. We had a twin room which had 3 foot wide 'children's size beds. Unless you are under 5.6" height and thin, avoid. The ceilings are low presumably due to refit. The bathroom good, new but the sink could not be emptied and the brrakfast staff said it would be fixed as soon as housekeeping came in, due now, but was not..Could not brush teeth! Staff too busy chatting over coffee at the bar. The breakfast was from 9am. Far too late for many. 2 plastic bags of bread to toast, (hygiene) a table laid with usual cereals and spreads. Make your own tea. Coffee good but only one jug at a time which was quickly emptied and new needed making. The cooked food was a good standard menu. After 10 minutes our order was taken and after 40 minutes it arrived. So nearly 10.am by time we ate as not a cereal lover. The end of October is out of season and there is nothing special about the village except beaches a few miles away.£114 for a Friday nights stay. We were desperate. We paid. But, Avoid if you can. Apparently The Bell is better but £130. Unless you have no choice, stay in other prettier, realistically priced villages. And myy advice if you have stairs difficulties or breathing problems or over 5'6" check with accommodation first. This venue is not good.
