The hotel provided excellent service, and the entire team was incredibly welcoming, friendly, and attentive. Everything felt smooth and comfortable throughout our stay. They were truly outstanding—professional, polite, helpful, and always ready to go the extra mile to assist us with anything we needed. One litte thing was that the treadmill speed was a bit inconsistent and kept on stopping randomly so i was not able to finish my 5km run

Really one of the most beautiful hotels we have ever stayed in! The landscaping is immaculate! Nice heated pool and good gym. The staff is super friendly and the food is tasty and varied. Highly recommend and would definitely come back again!

The pool was an amazing place to swim especially if it's raining

Booking the spa online didn't send the reservation to the spa, you need to call to book. That wasn't clear.

We really enjoyed the beautiful location, peaceful atmosphere, clean and comfortable rooms, and the friendly staff. The hotel had a lovely view and made our stay very relaxing.

There was nothing major that we disliked. Overall, everything was well managed and we had a pleasant stay.

Everyone in the hotel were so kind! We had a situation of my nephew being sick and they even arranged a doctor to visit him.

Het hoofdrestaurant mocht wel wat ruimer zijn. En de vloeren waren daar spekglad, super gevaarlijk!! Hierdoor kon je niet fijn lopen en rondkijken bij het eten.

The location of the hotel is good, very close to the town but away from the immediate hustle. The views from the rooms are great - although there is one quieter side and there is one facing the road- both have mountain views but you could choose what suits you better. The room is well equipped with what you would normally expect from a hotel of this standard, and the fireplace was a nice addition , beds are big and comfortable. Bathrooms are very basic, no tubs, and this part of the experience could be more sensorial. We didn't visit the hotel restaurant that serves up buffets, but we went to Sackville and its a beautiful restaurant that plays old school music, which seemed nice. Food is of average quality, some menu items are done well, and there is well stocked bar. Overall it has a nice cosy feel when the temperatures outside dip. The hotel grounds are lovely for a walk, and the landscaping is great - lovely hydrangeas everywhere! You can walk up to the higher levels to Pedro heights and some of the nicest views of the valley can be seen from the property. Shout out to Anousha from the front desk for her warm and welcoming smiles and helpful tips for around the city. The nutmeg coffee at Taylors was unique and we enjoyed it a lot.

The pool area needs to be enhanced. The pool deck was full of water and could be slippery. There was an attendant there but he didn't do much to fix this. The changing rooms were also wet and weren't cleaned, therefore accident prone. The spa therapist was good, but the environment could definitely improve - either the music is too loud or if you tone it down you can hear all the screaming from the swimming pool upstairs. The Ayurvedic spa culture of Sri lanka could be better adapted. Room service has a massive room for improvement. Service is lacking attention - once we asked for Mayonnaise and never received it , and a breakfast order was served incorrectly three times - eventually we just gave up and ate whatever we got. The managers were consistent in asking for feedback , via courtesy calls and check ins, so we could see that they were working hard to enhance the customer experience.

The property itself is beautiful, and the food was genuinely good. However, the overall service and attention to detail were below the standard I would expect from a hotel of this level. Most of the staff did not have a particularly welcoming or professional attitude, which affected the overall experience. The restaurant staff, however, were friendly and attentive and stood out positively. The Kids’ Club was also disappointing. There was no staff member supervising the area, the activities and toys were very limited, and the toys did not appear to be regularly cleaned or properly arranged. Given that young children frequently put toys in their mouths, proper supervision and hygiene are especially important. There were also small service issues that reflected a lack of attention to detail. For example, I requested a packet of salt for my baby and was told it would be brought, but it was never delivered. I was also disappointed to notice some staff openly criticizing or commenting about other guests, which felt quite unprofessional and uncomfortable. Overall, the property has a lot of potential, and the food is good, but the service, staff professionalism, Kids’ Club management, and attention to detail need significant improvement.

We booked this hotel for a very special occasion and specifically chose the mountain view with a jacuzzi for that reason. This was especially disappointing given the price, and we expected a standard to match. On arrival, we found the jacuzzi was not working, which caused a significant delay while we were moved to another room and lost the room set-up we had arranged in advance. By the time the jacuzzi was finally usable, it was dark, so the experience we had planned and paid for was effectively ruined. Security at this hotel was unacceptable. On two separate occasions, staff left our door wide open while all of our valuables were inside the room. Then, during the one moment we did get to celebrate in the jacuzzi, staff walked in on us because they had forgotten their room key, completely destroying what should have been a private and memorable moment. The staff we interacted with were pleasant and the food was good, but this does not make up for how the stay was handled, especially at this price point. We contacted the hotel afterward to raise these issues directly and were met with silence - no response at all. For what was supposed to be one of the most important nights of our lives, this level of service and follow-up is simply not good enough. We would think twice before booking here again!

I had the opportunity to visit this amazing place on my way to Nuwara eliya. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the warm hospitality, outstanding welcome by the front office staff, and beautiful atmosphere. What truly stood out was the staff. Everyone was professional, friendly, and genuinely attentive. (want to mention security persons are not friendly at all) They consistently went out of their way to ensure guests felt welcome and well looked after, which made the stay even more memorable. All and all, this hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. From the stunning surroundings and exceptional service to the quality of the facilities, everything was outstanding. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway and look forward to staying here again.

WHAT a lovely hotel! Nuwara Eliya (or 'NurEliya' as most of the SL people we met pronounced it) is an entirely different vibe from much of the rest of SL. They call it 'Little England' for a reason; Different architecture (although I would argue more Swiss-Chalet-with-occasional-red-brick than anything recognisably English); SO MUCH TEA; Different climate (by which I mean colder and wetter - 2hrs north is 30+ degrees, humid and entirely topical - NurEliya is 18 degrees, raining and they're growing cabbages). Definitely worth a visit! We'd treated the town (and therefore the hotel) as a bit of a stop-off. Taking the train from the region down to the 9 arches was a priority. So was visiting a tea plantation. So spending 1 night in NurEliya as part of the overall journey south from Sigiriya/Dambulla/Kandy made sense. As such, our itinerary meant that we spent exactly 14hrs in the hotel. It was a lovely lovely 14 hours. ZERO complaints. - Exceptional concierge team - 5* luxury welcome (take a seat on the sofa...here's a welcome drink...warm welcome towels (as opposed to the cold towels everywhere else) reflecting the change in climate - Very comfortable rooms. Smaller than elsewhere in SL but that's entirely understandable given the topography. Also much more 'European' style (give it 3 years and it will be due for a re-furb) but still a great big, warm, high-pressure shower. I could have done with firmer pillows - I'm old now...that's more of a 'thing' than it used to be. - INCREDIBLE RANGE of DELICIOUS food. This really surprised us - I am not sure why. Perhaps because it was better than one of the previous equally-if-not-more expensive hotels we'd stayed at. Both dinner and breakfast offerings were truly extensive across cuisines and great quality. I ate A LOT but could have eaten three times as much. Plus, you've gotta love a hotel which has a designated pastry chef (best croissants/danishes etc I had in SL by far - not bought in) who is roaming around his (vast) station and therefore has a whole conversation with your gluten and dairy free friend about what's OK for her to eat, plus what they might make in the future. - Well stocked and varied bar menu (although they did get one of out drinks orders wrong - not exactly a make-or-break scenario though) The hotel also has a heated indoor pool, spa/treatment rooms and a rooftop bar with, what I imagine would be, an incredible view. And all for an entirely reasonable price all things considered. Can't complain about the value (it's not their fault that we didn't have time to take advantage of all they have to offer, especially as we were 1-2 hours later checking in than planned). Bottom line: If you're staying in the area for 24-48+ hours, I highly highly recommend The Golden Ridge Hotel. #100PercentWorthIt If, like us, NurEliya is a brief stop-off, it's probably more luxury than you need. But if there is room in the budget, the food makes it worth it!
