The bar and dining areas were good. Clean and appealing. Staff excellent. The breakfast was very good.

Our room was disappointing. The carpet in particular was disgusting. It was heavily stained all around the bed area. I tried to convince myself that it was tea/coffee spills but I'm really not sure about that. Even worse, at the end of the bed area there was a splattered stain on the carpet which we were certain was blood. I asked at reception if it could be cleaned but they said no. We ended up placing a stool over it so that we wouldn't accidentally walk on it. Unacceptable. The cupboard trim was peeling in the bathroom and the whole room felt neglected.

Chaotic breakfast on all 4 days. Food and drink servery squashed into too small a space especially the coffee/tea machines. People queuing across each other. Replenishment of food slow. Cooks overwhelmed?

Falamos com o gerente que reconheceu as deficiências, uma vez que tiramos fotos, apresentou um reembolso de 50% para o 2 dia, o que nunca aconteceu, revelando desde logo ausência de profissionalismo.

Small light next to bed broken which with the rather uncomfortable single bed disturbed my sleep

First room had debris on windowsill from previous guest - bits of black plastic and an unopened sanitary pad. Also TV, kettle and electrical sockets on one side of room weren't working. I rang reception and was told someone would be up to check the sockets, I queried whether the room had been cleaned due t the debris and he replied "of course it's clean". 30 minutes later when no one had come up, I rang again. A different person answered my call and he attended immediately. He quickly assessed the TV etc was not working and then I showed him the debris on the windowsill - he immediately moved us to another room.

The first room had issues as outlined above. The restaurant was short staffed on our first night which meant a long wait to be served. There was an issue with the lifts - one not working so long queues at times

Well noone told us that casting your phone on the TV was still a working progress so normal TV channels was rubbish

Location for visiting family in Wantage. Spacious and generally clean rooms.

Bathroom needed some TLC - floor tiles loosening and sealant in corners of shower needs attention. In restaurants area, some flat surfaces needed dusting.

Breakfast was OK. The staff seemed to be struggling with demand, so the mushroom and eggs were down to the dregs for the want of a different word. Didn’t like the cheese and meats not being covered.

Excellent location in a quiet business park, very close to the motorway and especially convenient for travellers by car. Free parking was a big plus. Our room was fantastic, comfortable and exceptionally clean, and the hotel arranged an extra bed for our child. The staff were attentive, polite and very helpful, and the food was delicious. Everything about the hotel felt well maintained and professionally managed.

The restaurant meals were a bit overpriced for what they were and 2 of our party who had the same pasta meal had to send them back as they weren't cooked properly.

After a full on Wedding on the hottest day of the year we were absolutely delighted with our air conditioned room. It was cool, quiet and the bed was so comfortable. I will definitely be using Courtyard Marriott for future trips

Our room had obviously just been repainted in the standard white, although they’d only done half of each wall! Not a gripe, just odd…..

Lovely bedding & towels. Toiletries were very nice too.

Asked for an accessible bathroom for my disabled husband and close to a lift. Apparently this had ‘ been overlooked’ and there were no accessible rooms left. Apologies and put closest to lift as she could. One of the 2 lifts was out of order and the other was in constant use by coach loads of people coming up and down with suitcases. One morning I walked down to breakfast and waited for my husband for 30 minutes! Really not acceptable for a man who cant stand due to muscular dystrophy. TV in room only showed SKY repeats. No Uk channels. We asked for it to be looked at and were told they were all the same. Found out next day not true all other rooms had perfectly good TVs. We don’t have much money and obviously with husband being disabled don't go away much at all. This was my treat to us for our anniversary and it was a total disappointment. Breakfast was awful, dinner very average. We left early on our last day as honestly felt totally deflated.

The Marriott is a quality product and predictable. It was precisely what we expected and delivered the goods.

Simple slippers being reserved for only “complimentary guests”. Receptionists wasting your time or seemingly annoyed by the questions you ask (except for Anastasia, only reason this review isn’t totally catastrophic). Plugs not working despite calling multiple times. Ironing board leaking. Chair in the room destroyed. Just bare minimum all over and an overall feeling that if you’re not a vip you don’t deserve basic professional treatment. Had to ask multiple times for my points to be added into my mariott account only to find out days later that it was not possible in the end because booking was made on booking and not on Mariott. But was told the exact opposite when checking in on the first day. Breakfast bare minimum, no flexibility whatsoever on putting it. The only nice thing I have to emphasise is the receptionist Anastasia who tried her best to accommodate. Will not set foot there again and probably not in another mariott hotel ever again. Not for the facilities but for how I was made to feel.

Caters a lot for coach parties, there were two when we visited. Be prepared for a wait both in reception and restaurant and bar if you are independent travellers.

Modern good-looking hotel, conveniently located. Good buffet breakfast and adequate lounge bar food. Nice room, modern shower. A/c worked fine. Unfortunately we had a frustrating issue with our room TV for our 3 night stay. This is not so much about the issue itself but the way it was handled by the hotel staff. With world cup soccer and Wimbledon on, our room tv kept turning itself off every few seconds and was unwatchable. Reported it straightaway on the first evening and were promised someone would work on it the following morning. The problem was exactly the same on the second evening with no communication from the hotel. The lady answering the phone at reception claimed to be too busy to even try to find out an update for us. The man at reception was more helpful and did at least track down a TV remote so that we could change the channel in the bar area to watch Wimbledon. He eventually established that they had tried to fix the tv but couldn't, had no replacement and no policy to supply one, and no alternative room we could move to. He promised to investigate whether we could move to an alternative room for the last night of our 3 night stay, but again we heard nothing more on this, and at this point we had given up on the issue. Another unfixed problem was that one of the two elevators was out of service for our entire stay. One working elevator for a six storey hotel is totally inadequate leading to long queues and overloading in the remaining elevator, particularly in the mornings.

Conveniently situated hotel, close to major road networks, with a relaxed ambience. Room upgraded on check in (thank you) was very comfortable and clean. Considering the hotel is close to busy roads the noise level was acceptable. All the staff members we dealt with were very pleasant. Special mention to Eric Lee who excelled in his service in the Oxen Restaurant. Eric’s customer care was first class and we commend him for this. Thank you all. We hope to return .

The rooms were a great size, super comfortable and spotlessly clean! It was great to have a pool table in the bar area too (although might be time for a new one).

Oxen grill absolutely useless ! Waited 40 mins to get a drink ! Then waited a further sat down to be served and was ignored so had to resort to walking out of the hotel to McDonalds to eat !

Staff were courteous and attentive. Room clean, spacious and good decor throughout. Food good, although limited menu as we were on a deal. Big failure was air con. In bedroom which remained unbearable at 27c energy though thermostat set at 19. Rest of hotel was nicely cool. Special mention and thanks to David on reception and engineer Jay who fixed tv and tried to fix air con.

The very greasy, smelly breakfast. Very poor liquid supposed to be coffee. The location - a concrete highway stopover far from everywhere. The blocked basin in the bathroom, which was not attendd to despite complaint

The room is quite comfortable and the staff are helpful with good knowledge of the area.

Breakfast room was untidy and we struggled to find a clear table, opting to sit in a booth for 6bas that was the only one clear.

The rooms were very clean. Breakfast was the best.

Went with a coach party. Very disappointed with the service. They hadn't a clue how to cater for such a large group. Made to feel like second class citizens. Had to queue for all of our food like one did for school dinners. By the fourth and last night, they'd managed to get their act together with some sort of a system, perhaps they were looking for tips! However at breakfast the following morning and our departure day, it reversed to chaos again. Overall only for suitable for one night accommodation. On the plus side, the rooms were spacious and clean.

Everything was really good. The beds were very comfortable. Restaurant was very good. Breakfast very good. Staff was exceptional overall. Bedrooms very nice. They have a strong hairdryer. Facilities for ironing excellent. I loved the shower, it was great and possible to take down off the rail if you needed to.

I like a lot of air. I found the room very warm at times and lacking in oxygen. I did use the monitor but it helped only a bit. It's the only criticism.

Lack of information package in the room

I’ve been staying here regularly for work trips over the past year, and I want to be clear that the staff have always been excellent — friendly, attentive, and helpful. I have no complaints about the service from the team. My frustration is with the hotel’s TV casting system, which has not worked at all for at least the past year, and possibly longer. This is especially disappointing given that this Marriott charges a higher nightly rate than most other hotels in the area. For that price point, I think it is reasonable to expect basic in-room technology, such as reliable TV casting, to work. The staff appear to be just as frustrated by the issue as guests are, which suggests this is not something they can resolve locally. However, after a year of repeated stays with no apparent fix, it is becoming increasingly difficult to overlook. I genuinely hope the hotel addresses this soon, either by fixing the casting system properly or by upgrading the rooms with smart TVs. Until then, this will continue to affect my view of the hotel, despite the otherwise good service.

Lovely hotel, great rooms and breakfast. Unfortunately was only there for a few hours so didn't get to try any of the facilities.

I spoke to the hotel many weeks in advance around the importance of early check-in due to it being my father's funeral and me driving a very long way. When I arrived and called ahead, they told me this wasn't possible and this was a huge impact on what was a very stressful day already for me. So in light of that, would never stay again.

A Frustrating Stay Defined by Poor Maintenance and Zero Follow-Through My wife and I stayed for two weeks, using the hotel as a base to explore the local area. Sadly, what should have been a relaxing and enjoyable trip was repeatedly undermined by maintenance failures, inconsistent housekeeping, and a management team that ultimately never bothered to respond to our concerns. Problems started from the very first day with a non-functioning TV — annoying, not least because it meant missing the FA Cup final. We reported it to reception, were told someone would attend the next day, and of course, nothing happened. A second request eventually got it partially working. Shortly after, our bathroom light failed. Again we reported it, again we were told maintenance would come straight away, and again we returned to find nothing had been done. A second visit to the desk was needed before it was finally fixed. The most serious issue, though, was the air conditioning. As the weather warmed up, our room became genuinely uncomfortable. We reported it, came back the next day, and found no one had even visited the room. I could see the filter was almost completely blocked and offered to clean it myself — maintenance eventually came to do it, which helped airflow slightly, but the room remained hot. When we asked what the plan was, we were told they didn’t know why it wasn’t cooling and that a specialist would need to come out. By this point we had endured three sleepless nights in an oppressively hot room. We had even gone out and bought our own desk fan just to cope. Enough was enough — we requested a room change, which they were able to arrange, and thankfully the new room had working air conditioning. We shouldn’t have needed to fight for that. The smaller frustrations were constant throughout. Toiletries, toilet paper, tissues and hand soap were regularly left unreplenished and had to be specifically chased each time. The room wasn’t cleaned on at least a couple of occasions. And the fan we had purchased ourselves disappeared from the room — taken by housekeeping, we can only assume, who perhaps thought it belonged to the hotel. One morning we arrived at breakfast to find the buffet empty of cooked items. We waited, assuming food was coming. Another guest was already visibly frustrated, saying they had been asking for food to be brought out for some time. It took over 20 minutes after we arrived — during advertised breakfast hours — before anything appeared. Before checking out, we raised all of these issues at reception and were asked to write everything down so the manager could respond. That was two weeks ago. We have heard nothing since. The staff were never unpleasant, and to be fair, problems were eventually resolved when pushed hard enough — but the pattern of reporting issues, being ignored, and having to follow up repeatedly made for an exhausting stay. The complete silence from management since our departure says everything about how seriously our experience was taken.

Had to move rooms as tv didn't work they took the key and said they would be back we had to wait and wait and eventually ring them as we were waiting to go out, or phone charger for left in the room we moved from and when we rang and asked if they could get it they told us they couldn't get into the room! And we would have to try in the morning! In the new room the air con would not go below 20 so it was too warm to sleep comfortably, in the morning we had to wait after calling for the charger!! And when asked if the new room was OK, we said about the air con and the receptionist just replied "oh well' and carried on talking to her colleague!!

The room was spacious and well designed. The bed was large and comfortable, with sensible pillows. The air conditioning was quiet and unintrusive. The room was dark at night with only a few dim LEDs in various places - excellent.

The buffet breakfast was passable but uninspiring. The coffee was terrible (instant?) The 'Oxen' restaurant dinner was poor: In particular, the veggie korma tasted more like pea soup than anything Indian.

The restaurant was very expensive for the meal quality & quantity. The service was fantastic. For £8 of nachos I expected a lot more of them & a £18 burger could at least have some salad served with it.
