Property was excellent, there was nothing to dislike, superb location, and nothing was too much trouble for the staff.

The staff (lady on reception, serving food and dealing with everything was excellent) food (we had the Asian cuisine) Chef was really good

The room in the annex on the site looks really nice. Unfortunately this is not the case. The carpets throughout the annex are really not good. The towels in the bathrooms are not clean, neither were the covers on the bed. The TV in the room is really dated and the remote was held together with sellotape.

The receptionist was an absolute angel and looked after me well as I did not feel my best. She went over and above and it was very much appreciated.

They kicked me out of the hotel premises too quick because they had a function on.

Everything went well from arrival to time to leave. Aesthetically on arrival everything was as pictured ,the grounds clean and tidy and you know that everything else is in the same vogue .Breakfast was very good and at all times service and attention was excellent.

For us there was nothing we didn't like.

The bed was really comfortable and the shower, powerful. The restaurant and bar areas were modern and bright. The breakfast was fine. The gardens and garden furniture were lovely. The lady on Reception and serving at breakfast was extremely friendly. Parking was plentiful. The hotel was within easy walking distance to a dining pub.

Whilst some of the areas were bright and well cared for, the same could not be said for the staircase and corridor in the main building and the windows in the bedroom obviously hadn't been cleaned for quite a while. The bedroom carpet was also in need of a clean, as there were several, noticeable stains on it - one of them quite large. The toilet flush also made a dreadful noise. I appreciate renovating a large building can take time but the current owners have been there many years now (according to ChatGPT) so I would have expected everywhere to be as smart/clean as the more modern additions.

Beautiful property with lovely furnishings set in nice grounds . Exceptional Indian meal in the restaurant and the inclusive breakfast was amazing with brilliant choices . The lady on reception was soo lovely and nothing was too much trouble for her . Comfortable bed nice bed linen and really gorgeous complimentary toiletries

Location was easy to get to off main A34. Plenty of parking. Bed was really comfortable and I got a great sleep. Breakfast was included and was reasonable.

The shower tray had a crack in it, both the shower and tap dripped water, and I don’t like combined body and hair soaps.

Dit hotel heeft een grote opknapbeurt nodig. Alles ziet er smoezelig uit. Zeer kleine badkamer met 1 kleine handdoek en 2 grotere weinig voor twee personen, erg vuile voegen, zeepbakje en handdouche houder zitten los. Vochtstrip op schuifdeur is kapot. Om het schuifraam open te houden hebben wij er een houten tissue box tussen moeten zetten. Bij inchecken werden we verwezen naar onze kamer op de 1e verdieping, deze bleek op de 2e te liggen. Er is geen ontbijt buffet, keuze uit de menukaart is beperkt als je niet van Porridge, zalm en Engels ontbijt houdt. De eerste dag kreeg ik bij de omelette 3 sneetjes toast de 3e dag nog maar 1 sneetje.

Hotel looked nice from the outside. The main hotel reception looked nice. Staff were very friendly. Check in was quick and easy. Our room was clean and tidy. Breakfast was nice and served quickly. We didn’t have to walk far with our bags.

We were in room 25, the communal areas are in need of some TLC. Stains on carpets, and marks on walls, a bit disappointing for price paid for the room, we expected a bit more but area seemed a bit neglected. Our room was also very hot, luckily we brought a fan with us. The bed was quite small.

I had an excellent welcome from the reception staff. What a lovely bunch of people! Great location for me, quick 5 mins journey down to my office. Lots of parking!

No staff - just 1 person doing everything, so rooms not made up, tables not cleared. Hard to get help if needed Hotel looks idyllic but hasn't had any investment in past few years and is starting to look very tired. Bathrooms need a deep clean and several need urgent repairs

Overall approach to the building was atmospheric. Staff very helpful and enthusiastic. Can't fault the staff.

Unfortunately, I made the mistake of not realizing that there would be no lift or ground floor room types that I booked. Registered disabled, my room was on the second floor. I initially was able to get up the stairs without much trouble but after coming down them and then obviously having to go back up them when I was eventually coming downstairs for the last time I talk about 10 minutes too. Slowly step by step my way down. Breakfast was also on the ground floor which I could not attend because I couldn't get down. I knew if I went to breakfast I wouldn't be able to return to my room and then obviously go back down the stairs. Our room looked clean as you went in but on closer inspection the carpet was full of stains and paint work was patchy on the walls. The only mirror to get dressed in front of was placed in the middle of a wall and I had to move a chair to sit in front of it and had no way to put my makeup or hair things and thus had to keep bending down towards the floor which didn't help with my back. There also wasn't any light suitable near the mirror. The bathroom had a mirror with a large light but I couldn't stand in front of the mirror to do my makeup there as well as they were steps down into the bathroom making it a bit more difficult and toilet trips a rarity. The bed itself I'm sure would be comfortable for some but was very hard in my opinion. I could not get comfortable at all. But then again, that is my personal perspective as I'm not a fan of hard mattresses.

It is so tired and much of it is below par. Our room had awful plumbing, so we heard loud gurgles from the bathroom every time someone else used their bathroom. Our room was scruffy, with stained ceiling, a light fitting that didn’t work in the bathroom, dirty mugs and no drinking water provided. Very disappointing for the money. At the end of the night, our room key stopped working and so we had to wake the staff so we could access our room.

The staff were lovley helpful . Restaurant nice wasnt busy food nice breakfast nice didnt like the sausage was bit spicy..but overall .staff lovley decor downstairs very nice ..

Few issues room was lovley just needed a bit of attention to detail wall loads marks not much selection on coffee tray 1 biscuit not 2 for 2 ppl area shabby and needed attention cupboard empty but wld bn nice hve a fridge in it as had to kerp a little jug cold in the sink ..radiator in bathroom covered in flaky paint used wrong paint oy 1 shower head fixed so cldnt use it as didnt want get hair wet ..had shower in bath not ideal . Bed room wall marks over it and screws in walls cld of used something cover them pictute etc.. bed comfy and clean .. overall was ok but does need attention in few areas

The staff were friendly and attentive. Breakfast very good value for money as included in the overnight rate. Plus cooked fresh to order. Our room was clean and comfortable and we both slept well.

We had a power cut on arrival - so took a while to be able to start working and having a cup of tea (not hotel fault)

It was close to where we wanted to be.

On the Sunday (we stayed 2 nights) we had been out during the day and when we returned we discovered our key for the room wasn’t working. There were no staff and everything was locked up. A sign on the desk gave a number to call but this was just an ansaphone number to leave a message. No response was received and we tried again. We were stuck for well over half an hour unable to access anything until finally a staff member arrived and sorted out the problem. My wife was very distressed by all of this and we were both angry. No apologies have been received and no refunds given.

Location was quiet & peaceful. Staff were exceptionally attentive. Alex deserves a special thankyou for her kindness. Our party of three were celebrating my wife’s birthday and Alex made it special. Hope she enjoys her time with her father back home in July.

Receptionist (Alexandria) was absolutely lovely and went out of her way to try and help as best she could.

Room was not as described- booking.com states it has a bath and it did not. The main reason for booking this was due to the bath!! My wife turned down the room as soon as she was shown to it, so cannot comment on how comfortable the room or bed was, though it looked lovely. Manager Sunni dragged his heels in giving us a refund over this misleading description (or even properly talking to us, for that matter). We were told there were no rooms with baths available. We asked to change dates to a day when there was a room with a bath available and this was denied (this was meant to be a relaxing night away for my wife- it didn’t need to be this specific night- she didn’t *need* accommodation, she needed relaxation, and her relaxation is a bath!!). It was very hard to get any kind of back and forth with the manager as he was doing this all over the phone and through the receptionist. Unfortunately, despite it looking lovely, we cannot trust it now so won’t be returning.

Shower was mouldy and dusty shower head. Fixtures were hanging off the wall. Towel rail leaked over bathroom floor. Bed sheet had a hole in it. Overall felt tired and neglected. Breakfast food was good but was confusing with the amount of preserves with nothing for them to go on such as croissants or toast

It’s lovely place to stay. The staff are really friendly and helpful and the food is amazing.

It a rural location so may not be for everyone, but has quick access to Didcot, Abingdon and Oxford

Having lived in the area for along time I was looking forward to staying but unfortunately the grand old Biulding is looking rather tired inside, in our bedroom the carpet was stained, there were water stains on the ceiling and the paint work in the room needed doing. It’s a shame because it could be a really nice place if it was looked after by the owners.

The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was very good and so much better than expected as it was cooked to order and not the usual lukewarm buffet you get in so many places now.

The property is tired and the rooms are disappointing for the money. It needs an investment of cash to bring it up to the standard it needs to be. We moved to a 4 poster room as we didn’t like the first room they gave us which was allegedly a deluxe double. The beds are not extra large as described which was disappointing. The bathroom was horrible. Paint was peeling off the walls and the radiator. The shower tray was cracked and chipped and the sink had a really bad brown stain all around the top of it. There was no fridge or water in the room. The mattress felt old and the towels and bedding were average at best. I had to pay another £66 to change to this room as well! And no hot water one morning!

Nice quiet traditional English country hotel in a good location for travel connections to London. Room and en suite spotless, comfortable bed with windows that opened. Of especial note were clean and peaceful garden terrace and neat and spacious and peaceful gardens, much appreciated on a warm summer evening, together with large and easily negotiated car park with shading trees. Also a clean, quiet, and reasonably priced hotel bar, and polite and helpful reception/bar service/staff member, Alex, from Macedonia. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would recommend the establishment to anyone.

The features were out of date, sometime dirty and just in need of TLC. The photos make it look like everything is brand new but I felt absolutely shafted with the thin and dirty carpets, radiator that I couldn’t turn off and other things.

The house itself is beautiful, luxuriously decorated room with 4 poster bed. staff were super pleasant and helpful. Customer service 10/10. Breakfast initially seemed small but certainly did what it needed to do.

The room was a bit cold at night, stayed early December 2025. Wasn't a way we could find to make it warmer but the thick duvet certainly helped

Staff very helpful and friendly 😊 restaurant was alot of Indian food which sadly we don't like and you could smell it though the hotel,but that is personal preference. The hotel was comfortable, staff very friendly and wanting to please us. We enjoyed eating in the restaurant the food was delicious as was the breakfast in the dining room.

On arrival, the exterior looked stunning, and the lady at the front desk was very nice, but the interior and the standard of the room were not as expected. The room surface level looked nice, but there were holes in the net curtains, dust on the furniture and a lot of limescale and dirt in the bathroom, especially around the sink.

This is a pretty country hotel very close to the Harwell campus which I was visiting the next day. Brilliant staff, and a great breakfast. Dinner was in their India restaurant. The buttermilk chicken was one of the best curries I have enjoyed for a very long time.

The room was in need of a refit. The TV didn't work and the bed too hard (for me anyway). The kettle needed attention as it didn't work, then it did. It was a good sized room though.
