Shenandoah House

Location a little out of centre, but 5 mins on bus to Old Town. The residential area had a small Tesco, and a variety of interesting restaurants and takeaways. The cost for a single bedroom without ensuite (toilet and shower room immediately outside the room) was very reasonable. A variety of options for breakfast, from.help yourself to toast and hot drink (included in price), to full English extra on request. Helpful and friendly owner.

Bit of a climb to the top. More rooms one floor down. The hot water didn’t last very long for the tub.

Everything! Spotless, perfect location for walking into the village, well appointed and everything in its place, very pleasant owner. Comfortable bed which we really appreciated after a long car trip. We felt happy to have landed in such a clean and comfy accommodation.

We got there way to early for check in. But they was so happy to let us check in there and then gave us the keys.. took the cases and put them in the room when it was nice and clean for us, so we could go and do our thing .

Stayed as we were going to a gig at Dreamland. Very handy location. Room had a sea view and was spotless. Bed comfy, everything needed was provided. Would stay again.

This is a lovely guesthouse, in a fabulous position, just a short walk into Margate. The host, Jim is very welcoming. Our room was spacious, light and airy and very clean. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious too and the strong coffee was appreciated, thank you!

The perfect location and accommodation that totally suited all my needs. Very dog friendly which was our highlight. Jim was very friendly as were the staff. The double room was clean, the shower (opposite the bedroom) powerful and perfect and the location just a short 10-15 walk from the station and old town. The full English Breakfast was also the perfect start to the day! Back in August and staying again. Great guesthouse choice.

We stayed one night in family room. Comfy double bed and bunk beds,tea/coffee in the room, hot shower, everything was clean. Lovely host! Friendly and nice to chat with. Breakfast was included (which we didn’t know), so was a nice surprise and one less thing to worry about with 2 kids. Margate beach is 2 min drive. Tesco express just down the road. When arrived was over booked put in cabin in garden had to walk to toulet and shower outside down path in dark no light next day was given room no wardrobes clothes in case toilet in corridor i booked room with shower toilet in room i left on second date after i left key for partner in room i could not get in for ab hour i left on the evening back to london in gale force winds my partner and i broke up due to this she stayed on not happy at all

Very friendly, and breakfast was quite nice. Bed was comfortable.

The room was quite small, and because it was in the eves, it meant the ceiling had very low points. Not good for someone who's 6'+ tall. It even made using the shower difficult. The pillows were very firm, so not at all comfortable for us. When we arrived, the heating was on and our room was lovely and warm. Unfortunately, when we returned at night, having been out for something to eat and a drink, the heating was off. It wasn't on in the morning either, which meant a very chilly bathroom! For the price it would have been nice to have the choice of us turning it up or down to suit our needs.

We liked the cute house and how pet friendly it was! The house was super close to the beach which made walking to the beach so convenient! The garden in the house was also very convenient for our dog. Jim was also very hospitable, will definitely recommend anyone to stay if you’re looking for a short getaway at Margate

The breakfast was excellent and the host was very friendly and accomodating. The room was clean and comfortable. More attention to detail would be appreciated e.g. replacing tea and coffee during the day whilst the guest is out and about. Would certainly book again.

Close to beach and also Wonder-works. Jim was great, could not do enough for us. Room was clean and tidy. He welcomed the dog, and garden was enclosed for her. Breakfast was freshly made when we got up. Could not fault.

Shenandoah House did not match the rating of 9.1 given by Booking.com. No off street parking, poor location and very low-key brekfasst.

Jim met us on arrival explained where we could park, once in the property we were made very welcome , Jim & family also made our dog Very welcome, we were shown to our room which was nice even had a train line at the bottom of the garden home from home as I live next to a train line , went for breakfast jim made sure we had everything we needed & fussed our dog , breakfast was great plenty on offer to eat , jim was a great host, property well placed to walk the beach , would definitely stay again

Shower wouldn't stay in the middle , kept turning to the wall , couldnt take it out the bracket , but did manage to shower

The owner confirmed question before we arrived and was there to show us the room, letting us know breakfast time and aquantus us with the keys. The room was clean and warm with a separate toilet and shower that worked well. The breakfast was great with a choice of cereal, lots of high quality full english breakfast items and toast with jams. Lots of drink options too with fresh orange juice. Jim the owner has made a special place to stay, even allowing guests to use the dining area outside of breakfast time with a microwave available to use. There are information leaflets for the area too, with the main town just being a short walk away. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Thanks Jim

It was in a great location and Jim was amazing

The location is excellent. We were able to walk everywhere. It’s a 2 minute walk to the nearest beach where we were able to have a morning swim before a delicious breakfast. Jim was an amazing host. He is very knowledgeable of the surrounding areas and gave us good recommendations. Best value stay in Margate!

This was my third visit. Jim, the host, was out when I arrived; however, the lady whose name I did not get booked me in was polite and friendly and got me settled in my room. The room was well presented, clean, with tea/coffee facilities, clean towels and a comfortable bed (I had a good night's sleep). Jim greeted me at breakfast, which was a self-serve full English with a selection of various teas and coffees, fresh fruit juices and cereals. A very hospitable place to stay.

Near to seafront and walking distance from town.

All ok but too pricey for what you get. No hair dryer or fridge, so for £108 too much. Breakfast all pre cooked and looked really unappealing so ate in a local cafe even though it was included. Host really nice and offered a room upgrade even though the upgraded room was no better, as at the front of the house on a well used road. Stayed in the room booked which was at the back of the house with no one above us and had a good night’s sleep.

The staff were very welcoming and super friendly, the beds were very comfy and the rooms were clean. And the location was spot on! Only a 10 minute walk into the main part of Margate. Ideal spot if you're spending the weekend or like we were going to a gig.

Had difficulties in contacting host, as email sent a couple of days before our visit and a telephone call on the norming which went straight to answer phone. No contact made by host before we attended. Room clean and tidy. No parking on front as although 3 parking bays 2 cars parked badly so has to park on the street

Shenandoah House is located in a quiet area, close to the beach, and has street parking.

I stayed in the top floor room. It was nice to have a private bathroom, but the ceilings in the room and bathroom were low and slanted, so I bumped my head several times, even though I'm not very tall.

Jim was a great host & looked after us very well !

I spend 2 nights with my family the room was a good size and comfortable. My children enjoyed sleeping time. The room was however noisy being on the side of the main road. The view was great with the sea just a stone throw away. I had to personally asked for the WiFi connection on the second day. I needed for my kids lessons online. The location was good with Tesco close by. But it’s quite a walk to the town centre. The cost is affordable as a bonus Overall was a good stay.

Very friendly staff , Laura and Jim made us feel very welcome. Room very clean and comfortable and has all you would need for a short break. The area is really nice , it’s in a busy road but did not bother us . Very conveniently located to Margate main sands - will definitely staff again.
