Everything was perfect to be honest.
The location was excellent, right opposite the Turner Gallery. Breakfast was a buffet style with plenty of choice but you could order a cooked breakfast for an extra charge. The bed and pillows were very comfy and fans were provided in the room. I liked the coffee making station and the toiletries were divine.
I personally would have preferred a walk-in shower, but we really had no complaints.
Lovely room with seaview. Nice touches like tea, coffee, fresh milk and apple juice. Great location and great breakfast.
Nothing
Booking.com changed my rate. I had to cut the stay from 4 nights to 3, booking.com treated this as a new booking and applied a different, higher rate which I felt was unreasonable - it wasn’t a change of dates.
I can't wait to go back. This hotel is everything you could want in a seaside town. It's intimate, beautiful, full of character. More than anything, it has the nicest staff – it felt like staying with a lovely family. They saw me admiring a sunscreen that they let guests use, and when I couldn't find it at the store they sent me to buy it, they gave it to me! When I admired their hotel paper pads and said my four kids would love them, they went and brought out one for each kid! They were just nice, and friendly, and happy, and I want to go back just to be a part of the lovely Fort Road family for another weekend.
Nothing, it's perfect.
Very clean, well decorated, excellent high quality breakfast able to accommodate gf request, very nice staff! We will be back. We expected no TV according to previous comments, but there was a TV in the room! With nice books, eye masks, ear plugs, tea and coffee and even 2 fresh cookies! The bathroom was quite big and the bed very comfortable. Hard flooring in the room was also appreciated as it is way cleaner than carpet and better for allergies.
It was warm but there were 2 fans and we able to open the window so it did not bother us! The lift was broken but for a one night stay it was not too much of an issue.
Great location, nice breakfast, beautiful and comfortable rooms.
Comfort and cozy, quality sleep and giant bed, daily cleaning and towels renewal, incredible breakfast buffet. Curated art, lived-in art books for you to read in your own room, and daily newspaper selection shared in breakfast lounge.
Location
Lift was broken
Good location by harbour. Excellent evening meal - haddock. Friendly staff. Good breakfast.

Lovely room, friendly staff, great location and breakfast
The location to Margate Old Town. The breakfast & v friendly & helpful staff.
Nothing
Good central location, close to galleries, shops restaurants and many other facilities in Margate. Nicely designed, understated but with personal touches and interesting views. Good breakfast.
The breakfast is a fresh buffet, cooked items are extra which we didn’t have. It was all delicious and home or locally made - fresh fruit, really rich Greek yogurt, unusual jams…the room was super comfy with a silent effective aircon - perfect for this summer. Newspapers are provided in the dining room, a really nice touch.
The bathroom is a smallish wet room which got drenched after each shower, and the floor became slippery, so had to be mopped with a used towel after each use. The B and B rate was almost £400 which is a lot, despite the high standards.
Great breakfast, beautiful art in the hotel
Nothing really, only thing I’d mention was the lift was broken when we were there
Great location
No proper reception area Our bags were left at the corner of the restaurant Breakfast was bread, butter, fruits, cereals No A/C on rooms but has 1 fan and 1 humidifier.
We went for one night as it was of 38th anniversary. Everybody were friendly and went out of their way to make it special- thank you. Location was great. Because of the hot temperatures, the Aircon was turned on for us before we got into the room. Fridge in the room, coffee, tea, water, juices and fresh milk. Shower was great and all the toiletries are lovely. Big bath towels. All was brilliant. A big plus dog friendly we took our west highland terrier with!! Thank you
It was all good. Only one little thing but that was sorted!! Parking
Very characteristic and well executed renovated building, books from the local bookshop beside the bed, central location
Some noise from the road, warm breakfast not included
Gorgeous design beautiful building really handy location comfortable nights sleep
I didn’t necessarily not like it but the no TV in room was unusual
Fruit and croissants excellent
Would have liked a TV in the room.

The location was excellent. The room was spacious and light. Bed was extremely comfortable. Bathroom was spacious and well appointed. I liked that fresh milk and water were provided and that there were fans in the room. The continental breakfast buffet had ample choice and the quality of the produce was good. Service was friendly.
There were issues with booking. The hotel were aware that Booking.com had suffered an outage. At the same time they decided to change booking systems. I received WhatsApp messages, and emails asking for verification of details, credit cards, reservation, etc which were fraudulent and it became impossible to know what were genuine requests and what were not. I messaged the hotel and received a variety of explanations but it was impossible to ignore. It became apparent as well that whatever payment system operated between Booking.com and the hotel triggered emails to me which were confusing and frustrating and worrisome and unnecessary. Despite contacting the hotel and telling them this on multiple occasions I received the generic thank you for your feedback which we will pass onto the management, but as we are so popular we don’t care response. No apologies were made in person when I arrived as well. I have travelled extensively via Booking.com and have never experienced these issues with other hotels. The anxiety caused was unnecessary and entirely avoidable. An apology in person would have been appreciated. A gesture of goodwill even better. As far as value for money. This hotel is very popular and charges accordingly but not to provide an option of a cooked breakfast is mean when you are paying for a luxury stay. One of the joys of staying in a hotel is a great breakfast. Unlikely to stay again. I don’t need the aggravation.
The helpful welcome from the reception guy. Having original works of art on the wall, the vintage look, lovely teas and juices in the fridge.
I was upgraded to a seaview room but it was noisy late into the evening with traffic from the road so I didn’t sleep well.
Just did one night for my birthday, the location, amenities, rooftop were great. Nice continental breakfast and friendly staff.
We stayed in the Superior King Room, from the pics on booking.com I was expecting it to have the bay window with seating in the window, but it didn't. I would have chosen another room with better sea views or specified the room I was after but I don't think you can. Pic 10, 14, 15 and 30 is the room.
Location
The AC wasn't working (I saw same issue in many reviews). It's a common problem. Disappointing !
Excellent location. Cool Touches. Great art Amazing bed linen
No parking
Great location, stylish, friendly staff, great breakfast and roof terrace
No air conditioning in our top floor room
Beautiful renovated Hotel, the bedroom was extremely clean , bed super comfy, slept so well during the Margate festival ! Showering in the morning was very pleasant , good water pressure . Staff very welcoming & responsive , I forgot my phone charger and the lady at reception was offering one straight away . View from the roof top is amazing .
The elevator is extremely slow . We used the stairs to be quicker.
Location was very good! Staff attentive Rooms clean Nice atmosphere throughout. Continental breakfast had lots of variety, also cooked breakfasts available!
Price a little high, but expected due to events on the busy weekend .
Great location & gorgeous design
Gorgeous thoughtfully designed rooms with great amenities and views.
Harried unprofessional staff.
Great location and beautifully decorated rooms- mid century style. Gorgeous bathroom and the bed was very comfortable. Great roof terrace.

Great location, comfortable room, helpful friendly staff and excellent breakfast. I highly recommend this property.

Nice friendly hotel! Spacious room and bathroom. Very clean. Nice rooftop terrace. Comfortable bed, bedding, quiet. Nice staff. I got a genius deal so felt good value for money. Slight sea view! Breakfast included.
Breakfast could have included perhaps 1 more cheese. Subterranean bar not open!
Location staff and rooms all excellent

Everything was so well thought through, down to all the fresh cookies in our room and the locally sourced soaps in each room! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful! And a great breakfast!
Beautiful hotel, filled with original artwork, vintage furniture and luxury toiletries etc. Super comfy bed and just lovely little touches. No TV in our room but we were actually grateful as it made the stay even more relaxing - plenty of books available relating to the area too. The breakfast was really good as well. Would definitely stay again!
Slightly expensive but good for a luxury stay
Great bathroom with lovely products. Comfortable bed. Great location. Pleasant staff.
The room was above the kitchen (which we found out when we couldn't sleep) due to the incessant noise from the extraction system and constant loud banging and thudding from below. The noise finally stopped at 11 PM, but started up again early in the morning. The room was also warm and stuffy though TWO fans were provided. We were probably accommodated in the worst room (Room 1) in this otherwise lovely little hotel. We did bring the matter up with the evening manager and upon checking out but were met with semi-apologetic indifference.
The room was exceptionally hot despite two fans and the pillows were far too soft - they basically collapsed as you put your head on them.
Located close to the town centre. It has a pleasant bar and serves an excellent continental breakfast, with cooked options. The rooms awas well appointed with great shower and quality tea/ coffee facilities
It is situated on quite a steep hill. The room we had, had no chairs just an extremely large window seat filling the bay window.
Perfect in everything The nice little touches Like ear plugs if you partner snores Eye mask A wonderful book all about the history of the hotel and Margate

The location and decor
Couldn’t turn down the temperature to a cold in the shower
What a gem!!! We were made to feel so welcome, and the staff were outstanding. So kind and friendly. Everything in the hotel is beautifully considered. Original artworks on the walls of every communal space, and all the rooms. Tea, coffee and a cafetière in the room, with milk in the fridge. Freshly baked cookies, a fantastic restaurant, a bar and a roof terrace, all just a stone's throw from Turner Contemporary and the sea front. Hand-picked books in the rooms and gorgeous, locally sourced toiletries. Wonderful breakfast. I cannot rate this place highly enough: it's outstanding.
I have no complaints. This is a wonderful hotel. Absolutely marvellous stay, and we would love to come back.
Chefs table for breakfast amazing - just what we needed before our walk the next day. Beds extremely comfortable - all in all a perfect stay. Roof top terrace a lovely bonus for watching sun go down- amazing views
Nothing other than view but could have chosen a room with a view when booking and not really an issue.
We previously stayed last year and enjoyed it so decided to book again. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Our room had everything we needed for an overnight stay. The bed was very comfortable and the room was lovely and clean. We could see the sea from our window and the Turner gallery. Breakfast was also very good with plenty of choice and great coffee.
The only drawback with Fort Road is the cost. It's quite expensive but nice for an occasional treat. If it was slightly cheaper we would stay more often than we do currently.
Breakfast was excellent, great choice of fruit and pastries/bread. The location was perfect for my stay.
Unfortunately when the window was open there is constant road noise - couldn't be avoided
Friendly helpful staff. Clean room and nice bedding.
Lauren in particular was absolutely lovely. The room was beautiful with perfect views and the location of the hotel was brilliant. We loved the roof terrace too!
The only reason for knocking off one mark was because I could hear some noise from the room which was next to ours and also in the morning from the housekeeping staff who were getting supplies from the cupboard next to our room. My husband’s full English was also really overdone, but the manager was nice enough not to charge us as we had waited a long time for our food.
good brekkie , good food at restaraunt too
seaweed
Location & facilities were great
Nothing really
Uma excelente surpresa. O hotel é muito simpático, bem decorado, bem mantido, café da manhã ao gosto dos europeus.
Gostei de tudo
Everything about the hotel was fantastic! All the little touches in the room, bed was so comfortable and aircon in this heat was needed. Overall couldn't recommend this hotel enough, one of the guys who reminded me of Fred was first dates was such a brilliant member of staff nothing was too much for him
I liked everything. This hotel is exceptional, they have thought of everything to make the stay as good as it can be. There are locally sourced products including artwork and books in the rooms. The rooms are equipped with good tea, coffee, milk, juice and water as well as excellent locally sourced toiletries. The cold breakfast was also excellent with so much to choose from that I didn’t have room to try any of the cooked items on offer. Thank you to the owners and staff for a lovely stay.

All breakfast was all zero waste, we're grateful for that. Also in the bathroom facilities. Everyone at the hotel was very kind! Special mention to the picnic breakfast they made us for the last day.
Nothing, everything was fine.
Great location and very comfortable

Krásný výhled na moře Dobrá snídaně
Location, comfortable room with sea view and thoughtful extra touches.
The air con unit was above the bed and was quite noisy during the night. The continental breakfast was tasty but not an ideal set up on the main bar as space was limited making it a bit fiddly.
Great location, roof terrace lovely, comfortable bed, juices in the room, books in the room Beautifully decorated, lovely bathroom. Sea view :)
Slightly too warm but there was AC :)
Lovely hotel with so many nice extra touches.
Great location and the decor is just so nice. Loved the breakfast too. The amazing products in the bathroom are also a treat
Nothing
Well positioned with quiet bedrooms and friendly staff. A nice touch is fresh milk in the fridge for tea and coffee
No television in the room and had to ask for the room to be cleaned.
Really lovely decor, amazing view, comfy bed, yummy breakfast.
That the aircon was very noisy.
Location
Room very small, considering the price, way overpriced
Beautiful hotel room and en-suite. Had facilities such as speaker for getting ready and small details such as earl plugs and a delicious fresh welcome cookie. The staff went out to their way to ensure our stay was comfortable and perfect. Much appreciated! Breakfast was very delicious too with lots of love put into it!
Beautifully decorated. Super comfy beds. Perfect location.
Would have been nice to have more included in breakfast.
Fabulous all round, bed super comfy all little touches so nice. Great breakfast
Nothing
Very clean, beautiful rooms
Lack of air con in 2/5 rooms
The hotel was in a fantastic location, really close to lots of nice cafés, restaurants and the seafront away from the bustling prom. The rooms were really well equipped with hairdryer, iron+board, toiletries etc.
The people in the room above us got in late at night and were quite noisy. The rooms aren't terribly well insulated and we could hear the conversation from the above above us and could hear them walking around as they left early the next morning.
The hotel was very modern and comfortable. The staff were very professional and friendly ! Also a great location for Margate old Town, Beach and Turner Gallery.
There was no TV in the room.
Good location, clean and tidy place. Cosy room.
The breakfast was very poor.
Excellent restoration superbly equipped for modern expectations of style and comfort. Friendly staff and great location for exploring the highlights of Margate.
The staff were incredible, friendly. professional and welcoming.
Amazing location. Very clean. Beds were comfortable. The staff were lovely.
The continental breakfast included was quite poor. We payed for the hot food instead which was very overpriced and not great. Also the price for the room was quite a lot for what you get.
Excellent continental breakfast
Lack of parking
Everything! Rooms were super comfortable, well equipped, delicious homemade cookies on arrival and staff were super friendly
Nothing!
Gorgeous rooms, such a great vibe throughout. Perfect location and the staff were so warm and welcoming.
