Economical night’s stay at Newport Clarence House with helpful friendly staff. Kitchen facilities and parking added value. Tall building so once you’re in it’s like a bubble and you don’t hear the noise outside.

The location getting into the multi storey carpark was somewhat difficult having to go past, turn around and approach from one side. Interesting people on the street with a club downstairs.

Facilities quite good; bit pricy considering how far out it was. Luckily taxis were pretty cheap and reliable!

Following a great visit last year, we were unexpectedly upgraded, for free to a nicer apartment. It was so appreciated and made our stay much more enjoyable. Defhope to visit again next year 👍🏽

The windows don't open but the aircon and fan were easy to use. Only one lift working and it was a little cranky 🤷‍♀️

CONVENIENT STAY FOR MY NEEDS

Location

The place was very hot, windows nit opening to allow in cool/fresh air, no air-conditioning: the so called water air-conditioning in bedroom was poor quality and fake NOT working. The proprietor ONLY thought about winter and NOT summer

Excellent well equipped apartment. Located within easy walking distance of the centre. Staff at property extremely friendly and helpful. Although in this high rise building the windows don't open, there is an effective air-con unit in the lounge. Would certainly use again.

There is a multi storey car park almost immediately next door, which is not of the highest standard, but is close by. The apartments do not appear to have parking themselves, though if you pay the multi storey parking through reception rather than the machine in the car park, there is a small saving. Ignore the sign in the car park referring to directions to the reception being "pass the Iceland", as that store is no longer there. Simply walk out of the car park and turn right.

Management was very helpful & friendly, the size of the place was more than expected & the kitchen facilities were very good! Air con unit was ok.

Receptionist was a waste of time, the room didn’t smell too great but that’s probably due to lack of airflow as you can’t open any windows. Having to sleep with the noisy air con unit going due to how hot the apartment was.

Zeer schoon en ruim appartement, met zelfs plaats voor onze fietsen. Alle faciliteiten aanwezig. Heel vriendelijke host. Zelf te bedienen airco zorgt voor een aangename temperatuur. Nachtwaker aanwezig bij de receptie tot 23u.

Ramen kunnen niet open en zijn erg vuil. Begrijpelijk, want het dubbel glas is zo geplaatst dat je het nooit volledig schoon kan maken. De buurt is echt heel vuil en voelt onveilig. Daklozen hangen steeds rond bij de parking, drugsspuiten liggen gewoon op straat bij de ingang van de parking. Geen fijn gevoel om daar je auto te moeten achterlaten en dan te voet voorbij de junks te moeten wandelen naar de ingang van het appartement.

Arrived after a long journey there are no windows that open heat unbareable air con portable unit did not work stunk of smoke and drains main issue the heat in the room had to leave my advice book the holiday inn they have aircon and spotless very disapionted !!

The apartment was very clean, I couldn't see a spec of dirt anywhere.

There was a smell like someone had been smoking in the room before us, like stale ashtray. The windows cannot open and the little ac unit provided does not filter the whole room so we had to breath in hot, stuffy, smoky air the whole time. Woke up in the middle of the night sweating because the bedroom got so unbearably hot. if you suffer from claustrophobia do not stay here. The lifts were a bit scary, old, rickety and made loud sudden noises. The car park always had Nittys hanging around outside it shouting and fighting, it was a bit intimidating going to our car.

We had everything we needed for our 3 night stay. The kitchen had all utensils and the lounge area had an Aircon which was a life saver in the 30 degree heat . The apartment is a 10 minute walking distance to the town centre and there are also off licence shops which are at the entrance of the apartments.

We didn't like the fact that the bedroom did not have an Aircon .The apartments do not have ventilation and it felt like we were in a furnace!The fan in the bedroom did not do anything but circulate the hot air round .We found relief by migrating to the lounge or by leaving the apartment and going outside for some fresh air . This property is ideal for Winter but not for summer . Please note that the apartment has a £40 cleaning fee if you want your apartment cleaned during your stay .

Dated scary lifts rattling and jerking badly, No ventilation other than in living rooms ac unit so gets very hot on hot sunny days, utensils were just limited, washing mc could be in built inside the big units at least or designated area should be opened 24/7, no open common space at all.

No opening windows so even with fan in bedroom it was very warm. The exit/entry fob didn’t work and when reported to front desk we weee told we had to ring a number to get it sorted! I don’t expect to have to sort a building issue out myself when there are staff there. Things were broken/didn’t function as should and was reported, but I’m sure these things would have been reported by last guests and not actioned?

The room was very spacious and the environment was so good. City centre. I recommend it 💯. I will come back again.

It was modern and the cooking facilities were good!

It was very hot during the warm weather and with no windows that opened it was unbearable to sleep in. My key dropped through the gap of the lift and it cost me £100 to replace the key which is far too excessive.

Excellent around all rounder. Location parking and entry exit. Most of the apartment. Very cosy. Loved the walk-in shower. And the fridge is nice and large. Everything is there. Luke home. Will definitely come back. Parking is brilliant and very safe. .24/7 someone at the front desk that was nice and felt safe knowing there's someone there all the time. Very polite and friendly staff. No long forms to fill in and no waiting around. My stay was stress free and felt warn and safe. And no loud music. Had a great night sleep on the biggest bed I have ever seen. Was so nice slept like baby. Anyone reading this review, please try it. Once you won't regret it, i rate it 5 stars for sure. I am very fussy and hard to please. And I notice everything. Everything is organised I like that location

Front desk staff were great, room was clean and spacious. It is good value for the price and it met out needs for an overnight stay. The beds are super comfortable and the kitchen and lounge was good quality and we were able to cook for ourselves. The location was good, and there is a great convenience store below.

The exterior building and parking area (next to property) are not well maintained but not a serious issue.

It was in the centre of Newport

It was very hot like a furnace. I had to move my family including my 75 year old mother to a nearby hotel due to the place being inhabitable. The windows to the property were sealed and couldn’t be opened and the air coolers were of low power and not fit for purpose.

It was EXTREMELY uncomfortable it was extremely HOT I was sick twice no windows to open just the worst experience car parking wasn’t pleasant dirty rubbish all over signs regards to drugs doors all boarded up glass all over

The welcome and pre check in communications were excellent. I requested early arrival and everything effort was made to accommodate this. The weather was exceptionally hot and we appreciated the fans and cooling units provided. Spacious 2 bed apartment, although the one beds were more compact.

Seriously major issue was the temperature of the room. It is unsafe, and for individuals who may be more frail, potentially dangerous. The room becomes extremely hot. They provide an air con unit which seems highly effective at first use; however, I quickly noted the bedroom becoming extremely hot whilst the air con was on in the living room. After looking into it further, I realised whilst the aircon unit is running and the ducting connected to the relevant vent, hot air is wafting in full force directly through the air vent nearby in the bedroom! It was the most uncomfortable and suffocating nights I've ever had an in an accommodation outside of home, and the windows couldn't even be opened so there was no escape. Genuinely this factor ruined the stay for me. Upon closer inspection of other reviews, I note this is a consistent problem!

The bathroom smelt like damp and the handle fell off the door. The apartment was very warm! The air con unit in the lounge area was great and cooled the room down quickly. The small air con unit in the bedroom wasn’t great but luckily I’d asked for a fan which helped slightly.

There was no breakfast facilities and nothing locally available for get any. The was a convenience store close by but didn't offer any breakfast options.

It was very warm despite 2 small air-conditioning units. Would benefit from proper AC. I personally did not like the fact windows couldn't be opened, it was a bit stifling.

No tiene buena ventilación. Es horrible dormir en la habitación en verano . Hicimos todas las instrucciones del aparato y nada, sale solo aire caliente de calefacción nada de aire frío. No se pueden abrir las ventanas. En cambio, en el salón, si que hay un aparato que medio funciona decente. Ahí tuvimos que dormir. No volveremos aquí. No vale la pena.

Tricky to find. Room was very warm despite the outside temperature being much lower. Both AC units were on but neither really made any difference... certainly the one in the bedroom hardly worked. Massive double duvet on single beds... really?

Great location, apartment was nice, bed comfortable, nice lounge and kitchen area. We got a uber into Cardiff which was super easy. Also a convenient shop at the bottom which was great.

Unfortunately we were on 9th floor and despite the very best efforts of the staff the apartment was super hot. The staff tried to bring fans and there was an air con unit plugged in but to no avail. Also there was a bad smell coming from the air con and from the bathroom which I assume was due to the machine not being used often and the drainage. Now it was the hottest day of the year which is why the score hasn’t been reflected too badly as I would actually stay here again, but for such a modern apartment at this cost I would of expected better air flow to be provided.

Lovely apartment in a great location

Had space and everything we needed.

The bathroom air vent was loud and kept going on and off which was quite annoying to hear.

Clean, nice new fittings, complete kitchen fit out. Convenient location for downtown. Good views of the river from the room. Large 2 bedroom apartment, good shower.

Parking and getting in was a bit confusing with accessible access not available directly from the carpark and no one on the check in desk when we arrived.

The beds were uncomfortable and the apartment block was in a poor state. The windows were not cleaned and the walls needed repainting. The overall condition was unsatisfactory and I would not recommend staying there again. it felt like a crack den !!!

No air! I was surprised that there was no way to vent the apartment. All windows were locked. The people before is cooked and the odour was strong

Nice apartment, big, comfy bed, kitchen well equipped, with cooker, hob, microwave, fridge, dish washer, coffee machine and more. Living area with sofa, chair and big tv, with air conditioner. Bedroom has lots of storage, a big, comfy bed and an air cooler. The view from the 9th floor apartment was good, looking out across the river at Newport Castle. There was a decent shower, in a double sized cubicle. Location was 5 minutes walk across the river, into the city

The parking and then entrance was a bit hard to find after office hours. But it worked out fine.

The location was convenient to the Railway station and Newport town. I enjoyed the stay for 3 nights. The room amenities were basic and the beds were comfortable.

Unfortunately, the internet was very weak. I needed to do a bit of work on my laptop and the internet couldn't support basic tasks. Also the internet seemed to cut out after 12 (midnight).
