Location can’t be any better opposite La Isla… on the beach, close to market. One of a handful that is not all inclusive.

The rooms although clean were outdated and dark but this is more personal taste. Function over fashion I guess.

Do not let the "concierge" desk fool you—this property operates a high-pressure, predatory timeshare sales scheme that compromised my safety and personal well-being. During my stay, resort sales personnel lured me under the guise of handing out a "free gift." Instead, they separated me from my husband, cornered me in a room, and trapped me in order to aggressively pressure me into attending a timeshare presentation. I was held against my will in a isolated area while my husband frantically searched the pool area for me for 30 minutes. The extreme intimidation, cornering, and physical isolation triggered a severe panic attack. Being trapped like this was a terrifying experience and a complete breach of guest safety and duty of care. This resort engages in unconscionable, coercive tactics that violate basic consumer rights and statutory protections (including PROFECO consumer safety regulations). Corridors and common areas should be safe spaces for paying guests, not host-sanctioned traps for harassment. I have escalated this safety breach to Marriott Executive Care, Booking.com, and regulatory authorities. Avoid this hotel if you value your personal safety, privacy, and peace of mind.

Très grosse déception pour un hôtel annoncé comme un 5 étoiles. Pour nous, le niveau de service et les prestations ne correspondent clairement pas à ce standing. Pour les fumeurs, cet hôtel est particulièrement déconseillé. Il faut obligatoirement fumer dans un petit espace réservé, ce qui peut se comprendre, mais cet endroit est loin d’être confortable. Avec les fortes chaleurs, il n’y a même pas de parasol ni de protection suffisante contre le soleil. Pour un hôtel 5 étoiles, nous trouvons cela vraiment décevant. Autre point très négatif : l’hôtel n’accepte pas les paiements en espèces. C’est une contrainte importante et, selon nous, un véritable défaut pour un établissement de ce niveau. Cette information devrait être annoncée très clairement avant l’arrivée des clients. La caution de 200 dollars par jour est également totalement disproportionnée. Pour un séjour de plusieurs jours, cela représente une somme considérable immobilisée. Nous trouvons cette exigence particulièrement excessive pour un hôtel qui se présente comme un 5 étoiles. Au final, nous avons surtout eu le sentiment que le standing annoncé ne correspond pas à l’expérience réelle. À notre avis, cet hôtel est loin d’être au niveau que l’on peut attendre d’un 5 étoiles. Nous ne le recommandons pas, particulièrement aux fumeurs et aux personnes qui souhaitent avoir la possibilité de payer en espèces.

La alimentacion que vendian era muy cara, habia que ir al mall a comer, a pesar que tambien es caro comer en el mall la isla. La playa al frente del hotel, pues la mantienen bien ellos mismos, pero el resto del frente de otros hoteles, la playa muy fea, llena de huecos peligrosos, porque los hoteles no los mantienen bien o hay hoteles abandonados o en reconstruccion, entonces es dificil caminar a lo largo de la playa.

I liked the location. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The beach was clean. The pool and its facilities were great.

The TV inside the room was old, and the hdmi connection was not working. There were two times when the cleaning service didn't clean and replaced our towels. The kitchen was good, Could use better pans instead of the aluminum steel looking ones.

Tudo foi excelente: atendimento, localização (shopping La Isla em frente), ponto de ônibus em frente (nos 2 sentidos da avenida), opções do café da manhã, bar, piscina... nada a reclamar.

Poderiam melhorar a iluminação ao redor das piscinas, fica muito escuro quando anoitece.

J'ai particulièrement aimé le complexe, la vue incroyable sur la mer ainsi que les piscines et la plage privée.

Reservamos para 7 personas y al llegar, que el desayuno era solo para 3 de ellas, lo peor fue al llegar al aparta estudio, una cama doble para 7, estábamos desconcertados y casi nos toca llamar a la policía para nos respondieran, en últimas nos tocó si o si pagar según ellos haciendo un buen trato, pagar el desayuno para todos los días de dos de las personas, según ellos en una letra pequeña advierte que rentan para un grupo y dan desayuno a unos cuantos, nos iban a meter otra cama en la sala del aparta estudio lo que nos generó más indignación, ya llevábamos 5 horas después de llegar sin una buena solución, cuando definitivamente tuvimos que llamar a la policía ante el inminente engaño, apareció quien ahora sí podía solucionar después de 5 horas, un supuesto “gerente” y ahí si nos pasaron para otra habitación en las condiciones que espéranos y habíamos reservado, gracias a la asesoría y asistencia de nuestra agencia de viajes que pagó los desayunos en consideración y que siempre estuvieron ahí de manera muy responsable y a quienes querían culpar, pero que claramente supimos que ellos nos habían reservado de manera correcta, de haber reservado nosotros nos hubiesen engañado y hubiéramos tenido que pagar cantidad de dinero ya en el lugar por otra habitación y desayuno para 4, sumado a todo, la prepotencia de los mexicanos que se creen más que todos los latinos por estar debajo de EEUU.

La playa nos tocó temporada de sargazo 😭

Wir hatten ein Studio, waren zu viert und es hat an nichts gefehlt. Man hätte ein ganzes Menu kochen können…das nützlichste war sie Waschmaschine mit zwei kleinen Kindern und Tumbler, alles sehr hochwertig ausgestattet. Die Aussicht aufs Meer jeden Morgen, sehr freundliches und zuvorkommendes Personal. Es wurde immer und überall im Aussenbereich und in der Hotelhalle gereinigt. Das Frühstücksbüffet und auch A la carte, es fehlte an nichts. Die Poolanlage war auch einmalig, sehr großzügig angelegt.

Die Matratze vom Sofabett war etwa zu dünn, wir waren fast 3 Wochen dort. Es gab keine. Aufsatz als ich anfragte, es wurde mir aber eine zusätzliche Bettdecke angeboten die ich drunterlegen konnte.

The location of the resort was excellent, directly across the street from a great plaza with restaurants and shops. Javier was excellent with assisting us with booking the best family adventures: Tulum, turtles, sailing, snorkeling, etc. The owners White NIght on the beach was an amazing evening hosted by Carolina. The Westin Spa was nice and highly recommend the Heavenly Massage. Overall the venue and rooms were great! The pool was really nice overlooking the ocean. The food on property wasn't the best, so it was nice to have a kitchen for snacks and a quick meal if needed. The entire resort team were very attentive and very friendly.

Plusses and Minuses: 1) Extremely difficult to access as main road Kukulcan Blvd is under heavy construction with detours and massive traffic jams--not informed of this condition when we booked. 2) Check in (Brandon) haphazard--lots of rules, $25 per day in taxes and fees in addition to what we pay for Maintenance and taxes as owners 3) Parking a long walk from units. 4)Arrived late and found on site restaurant closed on Saturday--one of busiest days for arriving/departing guests. 5) Duna Sports bar--hostess inflexible and impertinent-we left. 6) Owners get 20% discount on food in restaurants but not until you visit concierge who tries to coerce you to attend owners update-read sales pitch! Plusses: 1) Large unit in 2 bedroom lock-off was huge, attractively furnished, had fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, dining table with room for 6, provided bathrobes, large bathroom with walk in shower and 2 wash basins, very quiet and a beautiful ocean view!! 2) Adjacent smaller unit had king bed, small kitchen area fully equipped, washer/dryer, comfortable convertible sofa and balcony overlooking ocean and pool area. 3) Grounds were kept well maintained and attractive; facility had 3 large pools with large number of shaded loungers, umbrellas, and several pool bars one bein a swim up facility! On balance a relaxing stay with good service BUT not much differentiation for owners versus daily/ weekly rentals or other guests.

The amazing: the location and the grounds were just perfect. Easy to walk around this large resort. There were several very large pools and a slide (for kids & adults). The drinks were amazing. The room was just perfect. We had a slight obstruction of view of the ocean and they quickly changed our room. The staff was amazing. The great: we did dinner there one night with a fire show and singer. The food was just ok but the show was great. The experience was way overpriced. The good: hotel amenities were fine. It was very crowded but fun at the same time. We will definitely stay at the Westin Lagunamar again if we come back to Cancun.

Even though we had a disappointing experience at the Greek restaurant during our trip, our stay at the Westin Lagunamar was absolutely spectacular. From the moment we arrived, Oscar at the front desk made us feel genuinely welcome. A huge thank you to our incredible team at the swim-up pool bar—Armando, Alejandro, Cesar, Sergio, and Sandy. You all went above and beyond every single day and made our afternoons at the pool something we looked forward to. I’d also like to thank the wonderful young lady who took care of me during breakfast and who also worked at the sports bar from time to time (I’m so sorry I can’t remember your name!), Sandy, Oscar, and Juan, who were all in gray (sorry, I’m terrible with names!), another wonderful lady whose name I unfortunately can’t remember, Omar for helping with our reservations, and the young ladies at the gift shop/Starbucks area. Every one of you greeted us with a smile, treated us with kindness and respect, and always made sure we had everything we needed. What stood out the most wasn’t just the outstanding service—it was how personal it felt. The fact that so many of you remembered my name, asked how I was doing, what we’d been up to, and genuinely cared about our experience made us feel like we were home, not just staying at a resort. This was our third stay here, and it had been three years since our last visit. The fact that so many staff members still remembered us truly put a smile on my face. That level of hospitality is rare and says a lot about the amazing people who work here. Thank you to the management and every member of the staff for creating such a welcoming atmosphere. You made this vacation unforgettable, and we’re already looking forward to coming back—hopefully much sooner rather than later. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you!

Es un gran hotel, en todos los sentidos. Las piscinas son maravillosas, igual que la atención de todo el personal. El equipamiento de la villa es perfecto.

Quizá que, al ser tan grande, cuesta desplazarse desde las instalaciones de un lado del hotel a la parte contraria. La condesación del aire acondicionado en la habitación era desproporcionada.

Que tenía entendido que el desayuno estaba incluido en el paquete. Al hacer el check-in para mi y mi familia (5) me dijeron que era para 4 personas y que debía pagar 1 desayuno. Sin embargo, al ingresar al desayuno me dijeron que debía pagar 2 desayunos por la edad de uno de los niños. Finalmente, cancelé un desayuno porque era lo que había acordado en el check-in. Lamentablemente, esta situación se repitió los 6 días que tuve que ingresar al restorán Océano a tomar desayuno.

This is a massive resort and beautiful! The pools are awesome and very large and they allow floaters . There are numerous lounge chairs, beach access is easy, towels are easy to get from the towel bar and the pool menu food is delicious from Viento. Friendly staff everywhere. We were NOT accosted by anyone including MVC sales agents and no one was pushy about sales for Marriott. There are little vendors on wednesdays near the property. The condos are very nice and the pool bar with swim up is a plus. Loved our stay!

turist olarak rahat etmek için geldiğim tatilde otelin hiçbir yerinde sigara içilmesine izin verilmemesi beni müşteri olarak çok rahatsız etti. çünkü bu alışkanlığa sahip müşteriler için de daha konforlu alanlar veya hijyenik önlemler alınabilirdi. ikincisi kahvaltı deneyimim çok kötüydü. çünkü otelde eşim ve iki oğlum ile kaldık ve buna göre kahvaltı dahil rezervasyon yapıp ödeme yaptık. fakat sonradan öğrendiğimize göre, sadece 2 yetişkin kahvaltısı dahilmiş. çok küçük puntolar ile rezervasyonda yazıyor ama bir uyarı da yok. çok anlamsız ve gereksiz bir uygulama. ben zaten bu ücreti vereceğim, neden en başta alınmıyor anlamadım. kendimi kandırılmış hissettim. Ayrıca, bunu kahvaltı alanında öğrendik ve oradaki personel çok saygısızdı ve hiç kolaylık sağlamadı. aynı şekilde resepsiyondaki özellikle chekin de gördüğümüz kız dışındaki herkes kabaydı.

Estábamos en una villa, muy útil para silla de ruedas pero se salía toda el agua de la ducha inundando el piso del baño

Be prepared for damp and musty rooms. If you have mold sensitivities I would steer clear. This resort looks great in the lobby and then it goes downhill. The pool police come around about holding chairs yet at 4:30am the whole front row is taken with towels and they sit for hours. That’s allowed, but way back from the pool in the empty areas they come around and badger you. The on site food is mid at best. The taxi prices vary depending on the mood of the drivers. The pool was ok in terms of upkeep which is better than the Westin in St John where it looked like it needed to be completely refurbished. Be prepared to be approached 2-3 times daily about wanting spa treatments. The bedding is very very cheap. The thin blanket on the bed is worn and the one for the couch is the roughest cheap thing I’ve come across. The rooms lack sufficient climate control and the air vent drips from the condensation which is fun. For reference:We are Chairmans level with MVC. We have been to ocean and surf club in aruba(both mid level with ocean being a bit better) but overall our first pick since the weather is better and the food choices are top notch, Ritz in St Thomas is obviously amazing, Westin St. John is great for location and that’s about it, Frenchman’s cove in st Thomas just skip, the new Bahamas location is gross and should not even be operating under the Marriott name. We have a lot to compare this too and it is just not great. Use a hotel where the climate is better controlled and for the money you can get an all inclusive package.

La ubicación es muy buena (enfrente del centro comercial de La Isla) y la piscina es lo mejor de lo mejor.

We visited this wonderful resort on June 15th through the 20th. We were guests of our Friends who are owners of this timeshare resort. Right across the street is La Isla Cancún shopping center. The center has many great shopping and dining options, from expensive to budget friendly. Our Jr suite had an Amazing view. It was wonderful having a washer/dryer in the room. The room was clean and had dishes, utensils and coffee maker. The pools and beach are clean with Absolutely Amazing views of the ocean. Now to the reason for my post. The staff at this resort especially the main pool bar and Viento Bar and Grill are exceptional. I want to personally acknowledge Cesar and Franscico at the pool bar. On my second day there, Cesar had already memorized our names and room number. I always felt great walking into the pool bar and having Cesar welcome me and other guests by name. The banter between him and Franscico was hilarious. Their personalities and their Outstanding service is one of the reasons we will be returning to this resort next time my husband and I visit Cancún. I'd also like to acknowledge the Duna Sports bar team. We had lunch here while we watched the USA World cup game. Our food and service were Amazing! Thank you for a wonderful vacation.

The infinity pool and the jacuzzi were great. The health menu on Oceania restaurant was great if you feel like a grill salmon.

The beach is full of sea weed (sagusam). I’m talking massive sea weed that you can’t walk on the beach. Don’t even think to swim. The winds were also strong but that can be nice sometimes to be cooled down in the heat.We were there at June for a week. We had internet but was extremely slow in the building were were staying. The staff didn’t care much to fix it. Other reviews praise the shopping mall next to the hotel, it was mainly American brands, and prices are much lower in the US.

We have fallen in love with the Westin Lagunamar. It is so close to town and amazing restaurants and shopping, while the beach feels like you are miles away from the city. The rooms are super comfortable, and the beds...well, the Westin bed is the best anywhere. We love the convenience of a kitchen and washer and dryer. It makes our stays so much easier. The infinity pool is HUGE, and the gyms are well appointed. We've stayed many other places in Cancun, but have found our home away from home here.

Another fantastic trip to our happy place. We've been coming here for some years now and it always great. Shout out to Williams, the biggest smile in Mexico, and Robert (tocayo!) They greet us like old friends and go above and beyond taking care of us at the pool. Can't wait to come back.

Our family had a great stay at the Westin Lagunamar. The property is beautiful, well-maintained, and the staff were consistently kind, welcoming, and eager to help. Everyone we interacted with made us feel at home. We especially appreciated having two different pool atmospheres: one geared toward families and another with a livelier vibe. It gave everyone a chance to find their happy place. The drinks were also tasty and refreshing—although I have to admit I could barely taste any alcohol in them! The location is convenient, and the resort does a great job delivering the polished experience people expect from a large resort. That said, this trip helped us realize we’ve probably outgrown this style of vacation. The only downside wasn’t the hotel itself, but the broader corporate resort experience where so many interactions can feel like sales pitches or opportunities to upsell you. And personally, traveling all the way to another country only to spend most of the time surrounded by people who look and live just like the folks back home isn’t what I picture as an ideal vacation anymore. That’s not a criticism of the Westin Lagunamar—they do what they do extremely well. In fact, our positive experience here made us realize we’d prefer to explore smaller towns and more local experiences on future trips to Mexico. Even so, we’re still a Westin family. We’ve had wonderful experiences with the brand over the years, and we absolutely plan to visit other Westin properties in the future. Our tastes may be evolving, but our appreciation for Westin’s hospitality, service, and quality remains as strong as ever. If you’re looking for a clean, beautiful resort with excellent staff and a great pool setup, Westin Lagunamar is an excellent choice.

My family and I have been staying at the Lagunamar Resort for many years and were always very satisfied with the service. Unfortunately, the experience has been declining over the last few years, and this trip was particularly disappointing. We are Titanium members of Marriott Bonvoy and have always accepted the invitations to the sales presentations because the points offered were attractive. However, when we made it clear that we were not interested in buying a timeshare, the treatment changed dramatically — especially this year. The Lagunamar sales team removed their seller badges and began approaching us in an aggressive and disrespectful manner. We were questioned in a hostile way about why we were even there if we didn’t want to buy anything. They called us fools for not accepting their “great offer,” said they prefer clients who “don’t think like us,” and that we are just there to pay the resort fees. At the end, they rudely told us something like “now that you’ve received your points, you can leave.” It is truly unfortunate to see a resort allow its guests to be pressured and insulted this way simply for not wanting to purchase a timeshare. In addition, the way foreigners are being treated in Cancún has become increasingly disappointing. Menu prices that don’t match the final bill (we were charged nearly 3 times more in some cases), automatic tips added without consent, and arguments or scenes when we questioned the charges. Cancún is undeniably beautiful. But beauty does not replace respect and safety. After this experience, I unfortunately have no intention of returning to Cancún or Mexico in general anytime soon. If you are planning a trip, do thorough research, read recent reviews, and be very careful. What you see in the media does not always reflect the reality that tourists are facing right now in Mexico.

We booked this trip on a $399 deal for 4 nights/5 days as long as you sit through the 90-minute timeshare sales pitch. Good: The overall price with the deal, Westin heavenly bed, room size and amenities, location across from the mall and shops, multiple pools and plenty of chairs. The hotel is very clean. Onsite Starbucks was a treat in the market. Our outlets in our room went dead due to the rain, but they sent a service person up fast to fix them which was very impressive. Our concierge decorated the room for my birthday before arrival with rose petals and balloons. Bad: The timeshare sales pitch is high-pressure, vague about costs, they take every answer to their questions and turn them against you, and the manager that was brought in to help sell was borderline rude. The survey after we said that we were not interested by their “corporate” man was just as unfriendly. The food is bland and sub-par at the on-site restaurants. We would NOT return based on that alone. The beach is pretty, but waves are rough and lined with seaweed. The Studio room only comes with a queen size bed.

My stay at The Westin Lagunamar was absolutely unforgettable! From the moment we arrived, the level of hospitality and customer service exceeded every expectation. A special thank you to Javier in the concierge department for making us feel welcomed from day one. In the kitchen, Jazmin and Ignacio were always attentive, kind, and genuinely cared about ensuring we had a great experience. The true highlight for us was Viento Bar. Willie is an absolute gem 💎 always smiling, incredibly personable, and someone who truly embodies exceptional customer service. No matter how busy the bar became, Willie and his entire team consistently went above and beyond to make every guest feel special. I was also very fortunate to be taken care of by Victor, whose creativity and passion shine through in every drink he makes. His cocktails were not only delicious but an experience in themselves. What sets this resort apart is the people. Every staff member we encountered was warm, professional, and dedicated to making this vacation memorable. The hospitality here is unmatched and truly sets the standard for what a resort experience should be. Thank you to everyone at The Westin Lagunamar for an amazing stay. I left with wonderful memories and cannot wait to return!

A very special thank you goes to Angie and Teresa. They made us feel like a king and queen throughout our stay and consistently went above and beyond with their incredible customer service, kindness, and genuine care. Their warmth and professionalism truly made our experience unforgettable. We would also like to recognize Juan Carlos and Gabriel, who were incredibly gracious, genuine, professional, and helpful in every way. Their attention to detail and welcoming personalities did not go unnoticed. Since we spent much of our time enjoying the pool, we especially want to thank Hernan, Eduardo, and the entire pool staff. They were friendly, fun, attentive, and truly made our days feel like paradise by the pool. This letter would not be complete without mentioning Alejandro and the Fun Team. We looked forward to 3:00 every single day! And darn it — my husband still has not won his Westin Cup, but he is determined, so maybe next year! He is definitely not giving up! LOL. La ubicación es excelente y el área de playa y piscinas también. Las habitaciones son muy completas tienen todo lo necesario para una estadía larga en familia.

Deberían tener más tumbonas en la playa, un poco mas de sombra y ofrecer alguna tarifa con desayuno incluido.

Es hat kein Wasser im Zimmer. Ganzes Hotel strengstes Raucherverbot, es hat bei der Hotellobby 3 raucher Ecken. Ebenso ander Poolanlage & Strand strengstes Rauchverbot. Zimmer eher klein ausgefallen ClubAira mit Bus/Auto 7 Minuten weg In die Stadt Cancun ca. 15-20 minuten fahrt

​We had an absolutely wonderful dining experience at Oceano inside the Westin Lagunamar, and a huge part of that was thanks to our fantastic waiter, Efrain! ​From the moment we sat down, Efrain was incredibly attentive, anticipating our needs and ensuring everything was perfectly timed and delicious. Beyond the excellent service, he was incredibly warm and knowledgeable, taking the time to share some great insider tips and information about the surrounding Cancun area. ​It is rare to find service that is both highly professional and genuinely personal, but Efrain balances both effortlessly. He truly elevated our evening. Thank you, Efrain, for making our night so memorable—we can’t wait to come back!

I absolutely loved the pools and jacuzzis at this hotel! Waking up every morning to a stunning ocean view from my room was pure happiness. Both the main bed and the sofa bed were comfortable. I also loved having a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, washer, and dryer, which made my stay independent. Public transportation is highly accessible, with a bus stop right by the hotel entrance. There is also a mall right across the street; while it is nothing spectacular, it is highly convenient for grabbing dinner, getting ice cream, or hitting an ATM.

The only downside was the timeshare sales card slipped under my door every morning disguised as a welcome gift. It was quite annoying, and management should explicitly ask guests if they want to opt into these sales pitches.

Pools were nice. Clean. Not overcrowded or noisy. Big enough to lap swim in early pre-crowd hours. Not heavy party scene which I liked. Loved the kitchens and the ocean view. Helpful staff. Good seaweed management in sargasso season. Lifeguards. Lowkey but professional. Would definitely return.

The facilities! So beautiful and close to the mall as well. Amazing cocktails options and up to 3 happy hours in the afternoon and evening!

Double beds instead of a couch and one bed

The location is great and the facilities are very nice. There are two pools at the resort and both are very nice, especially the infinity pool, with very warm water. The beach is also lovely and there are beach chairs and beach towels available everywhere. Our suite was clean and well equipped. Checkout is early (10:00am) but they do offer complimentary late checkout (12:00pm) if available.

The checkin experience could have been better. We arrived early and we were told they were doing their best to give us our room early (they explicitly said our room was empty and being cleaned as we were checking in), given that the actual checkin time was at 4:00pm (quite late, usually it's 3:00pm as far as I know). In the end we were only given the room at 3:00pm and definitely not around 1:00pm as we were led to believe - I just wish they were more transparent during checkin, as we would have planned our day differently.
