We had the best weekend we could have asked for. Alma was an absolute delight every morning at breakfast. She always greets my wife and I with the biggest hug and smile. And in the afternoon and evening reception timing, Katlyn was the best host. She is so attentive to all patrons making sure no one is left thirsty or needing. When it comes to recommendations she is top tear among what you are feeling and serving you the best option for your craving! These two women made our stay for sure!! On top of these two, I can not leave out Dennis at the front desk and Peter, the GM!!! As well as the valet!! All Together this hotel had one the best teams I have seen in some time!!

Hotel was very accommodating and the staff. Was friendly. The breakfast was delicious and Alma is one of the best waitresses I’ve had. She is sooo caring and loving!!! If you want drinks at the bar. The stay was amazing, relaxing, The room was clean inviting. The front desk staff were Professional knowledge and kind. The pool was nice clean with chairs and umbrellas. But the Gem. The real icing on the cake so to speak was the restaurant in the lobby. A lady named Alma she attended to me and my family and she was so kind, and attentive. She made sure we had everything we needed with a smile and incredible customer service . She is the type of employee that every workplace needs. The kind of employee that increases the volume. You would come back just because how special she made you feel. Alma see you again soon.

The Royal Sonesta left a lasting impression on my family. Visiting from Australia, we were made to feel really at home. So many positives: 10 minutes walk from one of America’s biggest shopping malls, we couldn’t ask for more convenience. The free shuttle service which took you anywhere within a 3 mile radius was an unexpected bonus. Perhaps the greatest joy for us was the courteous and helpful staff. We want to particularly single out Alma at the restaurant. She went above & beyond in attending to our needs making breakfast time a special delight. We highly recommend the Royal Sonesta to anyone visiting Houston.

Oh my gosh the service we experienced was over the top - see Alma in the restaurant- she was absolutely incredible!!! She knows how to manage every little detail to make your visit easy

Que resulta que por política del hotel se debía solicitar previamente que se hiciera la limpieza de la habitación (lo cual jamas me comentaron)…y todavía el segundo día que y había solicitado la limpieza llegue a mi cuarto a las 3 pm y seguía sin hacerlo, lo realizaron después de 3 veces que fui a recepción molesto por dicha situación

I just want to take a moment and remark on how WONDRRFUL the staff is during breakfast! I'm here for an extended stay, and Frank, Alma, Maria and Irene make me feel like FAMILY every morning! It really means a lot when far from home. Food is excellent too! Great all around - 5 stars

The water literally took 25 mins of running to get hot upon arrival, so my mother had a cold shower. I ran the water until we got hot water for the tub. The carpet was also buckling in the bedroom in several places. The meal selection at the coffee shop was good although things kept running out during our breaks.

The hotel is fine. Terrible air conditioning in rooms. every night it ceased to work. too hot to sleep. ONE GREAT THING HOWEVER: Alma the waitress in the main restaurant is really terrific! We had been there last year. She remembered us and took great care to be sure we were happy.

Had a great time at the Royal Sonesta. It's in a great location across the road from the Galleria shopping mall and close to lots of lounges and bars. The staff have been great and made us feel very welcome. Alma who works in their Ara restaurant has looked after us very well. Always greets us with a big smile and great service when we would go down for our breakfast

Had a really great experience staying at the Royal Sonesta. I would like to highlight “Alma” who works in the hotel restaurant (Ara). Such an amazing person. She was so attentive with me and my family whenever we would come to eat breakfast. Always gave us what we asked for, she’s super friendly and has an excellent sense of humour. Such a professional at her job. I would like to personally thank Alma for her service. Because of Alma I will be back to stay at the Royal Sonesta.

I stayed at the Royal Sonesta while traveling for business the other week. After the airline lost my luggage and my flight experienced a crazy amount of turbulence, I arrived at the hotel to find my room had also been over booked. Daniel Melendez at the front desk not only found me a proper room but also sent me a bottle of prosecco, fruit tray and a hand written note apologizing for the inconvenience. When I arrived back at the hotel from work, it really made my day to find that someone had gone the extra mile to improve my travel experience. Thank you!

Jasmine from the front desk and Kaitlynn the bartender were OUTSTANDING!! They really showed professionalism and hostility all rolled up in one. They made the trip enjoyable and worthwhile.

The small fridge and absence of cleaning service at least I didn't see them. For the record, I don't used them anyway but I wanted additional cups and couldn't find them.

My birthday trip to Houston was phenomenal I would stay at Royal every time the staff was was very professional especially the shelter drivers and Aima the waiter was extremely helpful the food was delicious

Lobby staff was all really nice and helpful. Was dining inn the lobby bar area everything was great. The bartender on went out if her way to make sure we where well taken car of. Plus free parking with your room key.

The shower in our room did not work properly at all. We checked in late and had an early flight the next morning, so being able to shower and get some rest was important. I called the front desk and explained the issue, asking if we could switch rooms. The woman I spoke with was not helpful and told me they were completely booked. Later, I was told there were rooms available but none were clean, which was frustrating and inconsistent. A maintenance worker eventually came and got the water running, but there was no hot water. I called the front desk again, and after waiting, the issue “changed” — this time the water was scalding hot, essentially unusable. It felt like trying to shower with dishwater-temperature water. At that point, it was so late that I didn’t push further. We just needed sleep before our early flight. But overall, the experience — especially the lack of resolution and the poor customer service — was disappointing enough that I would not choose to stay here again.

I stayed at the Royal Sonesta in Houston for a Convention. The rooms are very nice. Lines for the elevators were long at the end of meetings, but at the height of it, some of us were escorted by staff to the service elevators. We appreciated that! During breakfast lunch and dinner we had sit down meals. The servers were phenomenal! On our first morning my friend asked to have her insulated mug filled with coffee. Francisco (Frank P. ) was more than happy to accommodate! He was very attentive to our entire table always making sure we had everything we needed, and was very personable doing it! On the second morning Frank was at the door of the Ballroom and recognized us as we walked in carrying our mugs. He took them immediately and filled and returned them before we were even seated at our table.

The hotel is well located, safe area, relatively walkable distance from someone good places (Galleria area), health center 24/7, good breakfast. The personnel was very kind, especially Alma, she was the waitress for breakfast during my stay, and she was extremely kind and attentive. I'll make sure to stay here again next time.

The location was great, and also the staff! Shout out to María which helped so much with the check-in, and also she had the best disposition to help when needed. Also Bri was super nice and friendly.

It was a little too crowded, I know that is nothing wrong but because of the 5 conferences I felt it was a little too crowded. Sometimes my key didn't worked in the elevator.

Very friendly reception that will answerany questions. Room included complimentary coffee and bottled water. Ended up getting breakfast buffet- $28/per person as breakfast there is not included. Friendly staff though. Clean hotel and clean rooms - good for hosting events of your choosing. Definitely on the upper scale side as their bottled water is between 6-8 dollars per bottle. Great location - only a few blocks from Houstons shopping mall. The hotel provides a shuttle to take you there if you want to avoid walking. Traffic there is pretty rough

This was one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at in a long time! The staff was super nice and helpful! We got the continental breakfast and Alma was our server. She was very sweet and her customer service was A+!! Her smile started our day right! We will definitely be back!!!!

Mani , he drove us one night to a restaurant and Michael the bar tender were the only people on staff that made us feel welcome.

The staff seemed put out to assist in any way, the elevators, yes all of them malfunctioned multiple times, the pool and hot tub were dirty. The first night we arrived. We tried to get service in the Lounge, no one greeted us or asked if we wanted a drink. When we went up to the bar to ask if we were supposed to order up there, we were treated very poorly and decided to just leave and not spend our money at the hotel. We will not be staying at this property ever again.

The Royal Sonesta has everything you need for a pleasant stay. The rooms are updated and spotless. The service is excellent and the management highly visible during the day. The lobby bar and snack bar are a hotspot of fun in the afternoons and evenings, and although I didn’t try the restaurant it had breakfast and dinner available. You can’t beat the location for shopping and restaurants, and the hotel even offers a shuttle within a 5-mile radius. Don’t hesitate to book the Royal Sonesta!

We had an excellent experience and the Ara restaurant staff was outstanding. We arrived at closing time and still Alma took great care of us and always with a large smile. Business trips can get busy and these moments of kindness make all the difference.

Everything exceeded my expectations

The entire place smells of marijuana, the gym is small and very tight, laundry was broke, hot water was hit and miss, and maid service was late and neglected to supply half the towels. For a hotel that is in this price range I would have expected much more and clean environment free of stenches of drugs. Would never stay at another sonesta

The hotel is in need of renovation. Stayed several nights, isolated experiences: smell of pot around the entrance, no hot water in the shower, party noise in the hallways.

Alma is very sweet and turned a flight cancellation into a positive meeting :)

The location was central to the events I attended. I felt secure and comfortable. The manager that checked us in was warm and friendly. I loved the decor of the facility. I tend to be picky about where I stay and my room was too my satisfaction.

The Valet driver could have been a little more attentive and hospitable or maybe work in another area where customer service is not required.

Great location and the hotel appears on surface to be very nice, but found many, many things disappointing. 1. $50 for early check in. If the room is available, it’s available. 2. Coffee maker in room had a cord way too short to reach any outlet. I had to move entire piece of furniture to make coffee. 3. No ventilation in bathroom. After a shower, entire ceiling dripping and everything soaked. 4. Room noise. Had the pleasure of hearing every syllable of my neiGhBors late night fight with his wife/girlfriend. Unacceptable. 5. I was there four nights and never had housekeeping show up. Ridiculous. 6. Every morning waiting for Uber, had the pleasure of seeing what I can only assume were “working girls” wearing next to nothing emerge to be picked up.
