Wilkes-Barre Inn & Suites

We stayed overnight at this hotel for the annual NE PA maple syrup weekend. The hotel could use a bit of a refresh, but there were no significant issues - the rooms were clean enough, the blackout shades worked, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The issue was more the perception of understaffing - the common spaces weren't vacuumed, there were towels everywhere in the exercise room, old circa 2008 carpeting, a feeling that the whole operation was a little on the cheap etc. This didn't really affect us, but I could see someone being unhappy. As others have mentioned, the staff at breakfast was very kind. We would probably stay someplace else next time, perhaps the Hampton Inn around the corner or up in Scranton, only because there are several options available. Full disclosure, our rooms were free with Chase Rewards; if we were paying, we might have a stronger opinion. There were no real issues with this hotel, just a perception of (benign?) neglect.

I stayed here recently for just 1 night. It's a standard Fairfield Inn close to many eateries and the casino. The reason for the low rating is that it's located right next to a low budget hotel or apartment complex. There were people outside talking/yelling for hours. They are not part of the hotel, so no need to complain to the front desk. It was a Monday night and the temps were in the 30's, very odd. There were kids and adults making an awful racket all night.

Hotel was clean. The rooms were weirdly set up. TV was in front of the mirror and made the room seem tight. As most hotels now daily housekeeping is not provided unless requested. I did request service but was told they were short staffed and couldn't perform housekeeping. There was also a mouse trap by an exit door which was off putting

We stayed here as we were passing through. The check in process was fine, the building was a little older. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The shower pressure was ok, the water temperature could have been a bit warmer. When we got back from dinner the fire alarms were on. The front desk staff were working hard to get them turned off, which took about 20 or so minutes and during this time we could not be in our rooms because of the loudness. Bonus that they had a hot tub.

Head's up that the sink barely drained, but one it did (overnight), it left behind some nasty residue.

I didn't stay a night. When we arrived there the guy behind the check- in counter was very rude! He put the key card on the counter with force and he didn't tell us where the room was. When we went to the room, it was FILTHY!! A dead lantern fly was on the floor smashed in the carpet and the tub was filthy with strings of pubic hair in it! We went back to the front office to ask for a refund..the guy said "No" but offer another room. The second room reeked of marijuana! The hotel SUCKED and this was my birthday weekend. My birthday weekend was ruined!!!!! I didn't stay, my husband drove me back to our home which was 3 hours away. My husband drove me down there and basically turned around shortly after arriving at that "SO CALLED" hotel/motel!

Either the water was super hot or super cold, no in between. I called front desk and apparently after you go in a room theres no chaning rooms "their policy". Towels are white originally, towels i got are white with black and brown streaks. Toilet cap was broken, felt like i was doing the "chacha" dance and it doesnt even flush as it should. Good luck if you come here.

Do not recommend. Staff was very hard to understand. Room was loud sounded like they were drag racing on the bed. Bed was uncomfortable, pillows rock hard. Breakfast included with room only available until 8am. Strong smell of marijuana in room. Hair all over the floor, bed spread was holey and worn. Cheap sticky tile flooring, cracks when you walk, gaps filled with dirts

Not quiet. Walls thins, heard people all night long, tv, talking/ fighting, dropping things. Room floors dirty, our feet were black.Needed new linen on the pull out couch… dirt, crumbs, sand. High level of suspicion that they are housing homeless people/families, but feel that needs to be disclosed

It was terrible. Feces on the toilet roll dispenser. And this was in the 2nd room they gave me because the 1st was even worse. And neither the hotel nor Hotels.com would reimburse me. I did not stay at the hotel, but immediately checked out & left.

The room had something that looked like bird food at the foot of the bed on the floor. The shower water pressure was non existing. It took forever just to grt the shampoo out of my hair

We had to switch rooms when we got here because it was dirty,,stained sheets and holes in blanket.Also TV and phone did not work. New room was slightly better and only reason we stayed wss that room was not refundable

This is a terrible and disgusting place and people They took my money and I never got to stay at the hotel, they are thieves. Should be ashamed if themselves

Barely any amenities, paint peeling, rusty towel racks, dirty walls, sketchy outer court row, we showered with shoes on our feet...... One of our party slept in his clothes on top of the bed because he was nervous about conditions. The scanty breakfast had a no food or drink out of the room policy and closed at 8:00am. But worst of all, the nonsmoking room reeked of smoke! We slept there one night and went to another hotel.

There was some kind people but there was a lot of disrespect when you tell someone thank you you were taught to say your welcome but otherwise I mind my own business! And know body bothers!!!

They have pretty nice rooms here but there are a few that need to understand when someone tells you thank you , obviously you should say your welcome who knows maybe the religion or culture don't do that I don't know! Good breakfast but only 2hrs 6-8am , at night time you see the workers and police but you can't ever stop it. They do try tho I give them credit

The experience was simple easy clean and perfect. The staff was helpful and friendly. The room was very clean and beds comfortable.

We booked a non smoking room online as sons as we walk in we notice the toilet does not work. We bring it to the attention of the check in clerk and he has offers a smoking room with no price decrease. The smell was so unbearable we requested a refund at which time he offered another non smoking room, after disclosing there were no more. It’s clear why he is not want to offer this room it was very clear someone had been smoking in there. The sheets were dirty and a used bar of soap was left in the bathroom so clearly the rooms are not inspected in between guest. Would never recommend. Also think Expedia should request more current pictures because the ones they provided are evidently not recent.

Nasty room! Blood on sheets.Very dirty room. Bugs. No microwave or coffeemaker. No smoke alarm or chair. Drug addicts hanging around parking lot. Rude receptionist. Told me I should have stayed at a Marriot if I wanted a better room.

The check in was friendly. Went to our designated room and there was a gentleman who spoke broken English IN OUR room, acting as if we had the wrong room, to which we both confirmed on the card and front desk it was in fact the right room for us girls. The sheets looked used, small stains from shoes and food it looked like.

There are several abandon vehicle's all over the parking lot, there are drug addicts, drug dealers and prostitute's walking around the parking lot AND renting rooms there. The property itself, even in the early afternoon, is unsafe. I checked in and decided that I couldn't trust my vehicle there over night, and ultimately, it's not a safe environment. I could get attacked or robbed while walking back to my room, after the wedding I attended in Dallas, PA. It's not safe. The room selled like smoke and the comforter smelled like a sweaty shirt after a workout. The room was dirty, too. They painted the bathtub because you can see the paint chipping off it. It was nothing short of disgusting, I checked out one hour after I checked in.

This place is so run down. Most of the guests were young hoodlums running around, acting out and arguing with each other. We do not recommend this place!

First room (288) reeked of cigarettes and bathroom was dirty. Bath towels weren't folded and were damp to touch. Went to desk and was given another room (282). This room didn't smell from smoke but hair was in bathtub and on shower walls. Toilet seat was falling off of toilet bowl. Photo gallery of motel was not at all what actually is there.

Bathroom was not clean. There was soap from a previous stay and shampoo left in the shower. It was certain type of hair on the floor in the rest of the bathroom as well and to top it off there was a small cherry tomato in the sink drain that Seem to clog the sink. To front desk about it they said they were sent. I went to clean it before I returned there after work and nothing was done. I said the same thing the next morning before I left for work when I returned again later on that evening again nothing was done or clean

Absolutely horrible-deplorable conditions! Blood secretion on the bedding! Large whole in bathroom wall…. Broken plaster in shower… hair and used soap.. smelled like cigarettes- non smoking room .. no working smoke/fire alarm… management‘unavailable’ to discuss my concerns.. had to leave the premises.. unsafe and unsanitary. I will love a refund

The room that was given was still occupied. The 2nd room was dirty, holes in the wall picture on wall had broken glass frame, bllod drops on floor. Bathroom, nasty, tub was nasty grimy looki g. I showered in flip flops but still was disgusted.

Absolutely disgusting. Smelled horrible. Breakfast is only for two hours (6-8) and wasn’t good. And to top it all off cops, ems, and fire trucks were at the hotel at 130 am.

Very dirty rooms and common places! Disgusting rooms! Stains on mattresses, room smelled like smoke and other smelly fragrance! I don’t understand how this place can be up and running!! There are drug attics in the parking lot and call girls looking for sex!!!! Unbelievable!!!!

The person at the front desk during the daytime check-in shift was extremely rude, unfriendly, and disrespectful — it really felt like he was taking out a bad day on the guests. I don’t know his name, and I’m not sure if he is the same person who also works the night shift, but the one attending today during the day was terrible. I had even called before arriving and he answered the phone with a very bad attitude, then hung up on me while I was still talking. We specifically requested a non-smoking room, but when we entered the room it smelled strongly of cigarettes, so clearly it was not being respected as non-smoking. On top of that, the room and facilities were not clean — we found hair from previous guests and the place overall felt poorly maintained. I understand this hotel is on the cheaper side, but regardless of price, guests deserve basic cleanliness and respectful treatment. Sadly, this was not the case here, and I cannot recommend staying at this property.

We had a good time staying at the Fairfield Inn. Pros include (1) spacious room and bathroom, (2) easy check-in, (3) good breakfast, (4) friendly staff and (5) strong value. We were upgraded to a suite, unprompted! Cons include (1) bed was not super comfortable (neither of us slept super well), (2) I got the sense that the room had an slight smell (i.e., kind of damp; would caveat that my spouse disagreed), and (3) our room had a view to a literal white wall 7 feet away. Overall great value, but not as good as some of the other hotels in the area.

Called to make I still coming an need my credit card info to hold room. Felt very uncomfortable! Gave to phone to my husband to deal with whilst working. Upon arriving staff asked again if i need 2 beds. After being told yes the first time. Entering room floor was sticky. Back of bathroom door was dirty. Paint peeled in shower, curtain not staying closed. Loud noisy neighbors till 3 am. Had our generator on back of vehicle. Was worried about it all night. Will not be going back.

I made a mistake and immediately called Expedia who said they needed the Manager's permission to refund the money. So no one stayed there, I paid hundreds of dollars and now I have to sue the owner. And Expedia loses a lifetime customer simply because they their multinational corporation has my money and we don't.

The room had a not pleasant smell The electrical opening that was to control the rooms lights was missing the switch and the electrical wiring was capped but exposed One of the beds had grass on the sheets One of the two lamps was broken I saw the WiFi connection but the web settings were incorrect and I could not connect till the morning before I left

This was a quick overnight business trip. The location to the airport and shuttle service was fantastic! Lobby staff above and beyond with service. Very comfortable bed and accommodations. Quiet room, very clean. Shuttle was prompt and courteous. Definitely recommend

Good staff

I did not stay longer than 10 minutes. Filthy conditions. Sticky floor. I wouldn't let a dog sleep there. Obvious drug use and people loitering in the parking lot. I cannot feel safe there. Then when I went into the room, that did it. Awful. Just awful. You should never suggest anyone to stay there ever again. It was a waste of money and time.

No drink or snack vending machines, no gym, no hot tub, hard to find. Breakfast had to be eaten in lobby and was minimal. Had two rooms. 10 buck difference. Worse room had no coffee pot. No lighting. Ans scrappy blankets. Queen room had coffee pot and more lighting. Key kept shutting off.

Scam! Photos show the sign of the hotel next door. This is not in any way part of the Fairfield Marriott. This hotel should have been shut down years ago.

The room was suprisingly clean compared to the property. The hotel felt unsafe and was visibly dirty. If it wasnt for the low price and convenience, I would have given a lower rating.
