The Boutique room, was clean, comfortable and quiet. Large room, with kitchen facilities and 5 minutes walk in to town.

The location near park Love the bathroom
Noises though out the day and night, came from the building opposite (air ventilation???!!) Apartment doesn’t have table to sit down for dinner or breakfast
I appreciated that there was fresh milk, bottles of water and plenty of tea and coffee sachets. The bed was fairly comfortable. The accommodation is very central to Preston and allowed us to meet our friends comfortably.
I expected the accommodation to be much better than actually received based on the photos on the website. The wifi didn't work at all unfortunately, I did speak to a person via messenger and she said they would try to restart the system, its still didn't work. The fan didn't seem powerful enough for the room and just moved hot air around sadly. Sadly when one of us had a shower it didn't drain efficiently and we had to use towels to mop the water up and prevent the carpet getting flooded.
Great location for bars and restaurants. Clean and well appointed.
A little bit noisy as we had the windows open due to it being warm. As it’s a converted old building you get a bit of creaking as people walk around on stairs etc.
Clean, tidy and easy to find
Nothing
Room was very comfy, bath lovely, complimentary upgrade was a nice surprise!
Got up early as attending the golf, shower was stone cold no hot water
Very convenient for train travel. Nice neighborhood for morning coffee and stretch before going onwards.
It was spacious and clean - we got an upgrade having paid for an upgrade but the room was still on the small side but adequate for our weekend stay. Parking outside was fab and really convenient. Close to all town places to eat and drink, all in walking distance,
The shower was a walk in shower and this flooded every time we used it and the water came into the main room. Due to the hot weather it would have been beneficial to use the shower room facilitates more than once in the morning but this was impossible. The room would have benefited from more powerful fans too as the one provided was insufficient to cool the room down.
Absolutly brilliant even had the kitchen manager or main chef for resturant speaking to me and extremely friendly
I have stayed here several times since my daughter started Uni last September. It’s a long 4.5 hour drive from home and I always enjoys the ambience and comfort and location when staying here.
I was travelling alone this time so opted for a smaller room and before I arrived I checked to see if I could have the windows open at night. On arrival I found I had been given a complimentary upgrade to a room on the first floor to enable me to have the windows open at night for sleeping. I appreciated this very much much. However the room had lots of spiders and green fly in the room. Housekeeping immediately sorted this for me. The room was as lovely as others I have stayed in except for being right above the front door. The Aven restaurant was very busy Saturday night and the front door, that was on the latch for the evening, kept banging each time someone arrived or left. Sadly this went on until the staff left just after midnight so kept me awake. Other than this I had a lovely stay.
The space and decor.

Really comfortable accommodation, centrally located.
The room is nice. Nice bathroom
The pillows was heavily stained. It put me off the whole experience. I struggled to sleep once I discovered the pillows where dirty
We stayed for 5 nights. It was our second stay at the property. We needed a private room with ensuite and kitchenette, this property met our needs. The location is good, being a 10 minute walk from the train station, and close to the amenities on Preston high street and parks to go for a stroll, and local coffee spot. It is self-check-in so interactions with staff were minimal, but those we did have were very pleasant. There is a number provided to call if anything is needed. Housekeeping tended to the room each day we were there unless we put the do not disturb sign on the door. They tidied the bed, cleaned, refilled the teas/coffees/milk etc. WiFi was weak, but the staff were kind to give us access to the staff network for our stay. It was incredibly hot when we stayed and there is no A/C, but the staff provided a small fan. The kitchenette was missing a few items (pan, bowl, plate) but when we requested these items they were promptly brought to the room.
We booked a ground floor apartment which was "upgraded" to the J'adore room on the first floor. I did not see the room we originally booked but I imagine it is not an upgrade, I suspect they assign the rooms as they are available when booked via booking.com. The room was smaller than imagined, there was no bath. There are only roller blinds and no curtains or black out, so the street lights were coming through the windows and brightening the room - it made it very difficult to sleep. Black out curtains should be installed. The bed in the room is also incredibly soft and we felt like we were sinking into it. I prefer a firmer mattress but I understand hotels cannot accommodate to every preference. There are no windows or exhaust fans in the bathroom. The door to the ensuite is frosted glass which I found strange. The door to the room kept catching/struggling to close/open. One night the door to the room got caught open and we did not realise until a member of staff came to alert us to it. Being an older building the floor is not level. As we had the windows open due to the hot weather, lots of insects came into the room. There is a restaurant on the ground floor, I feel that they are losing a business opportunity not offering breakfast to hotel guests.
We stayed at Winkley Stays for one night. On arrival, the bathroom, kitchen and general living areas appeared clean. However, the carpet and sofas were heavily stained, to the point that they looked dirty and were not what we expected from the property's description or photos. I took photographs immediately and raised the issue with the company. To their credit, they responded promptly and initially offered me a complimentary stay at one of their Preston properties. As my visit to Preston was a one-off, that wasn't a practical solution for me, so I declined and requested a partial refund instead. After further discussion, they offered a 20% refund as their full and final offer, which I accepted. While I don't think the condition of the carpet and sofas reflected the standard the property is advertised as being maintained to, I do think it's only fair to say that the company dealt with my complaint professionally, considered the evidence I provided, and reached a reasonable compromise. My advice to future guests is to inspect the property when you arrive and report any issues straight away. My experience was that the customer service was responsive, but I also think the condition of the soft furnishings should be addressed so that the accommodation better matches guests' expectations.
I think this probably looked good when it was first done. Comfy bed.
It felt a bit unloved.
Lovely comfortable room with fan
TV kept freezing and was sporadic
Location and cleanliness
TV size, setup in living rooms, lack of AC
Functional
No WiFi or phone signal
Nothing
Everything, no air in the room no fan to cool down it’s so hot and stuffy with the to tiniest window and nobody is here to ask for things
Bed Decoration
Wifi Did not work - Was not Visible Kitchen was poorly stocked - Limited utensils Difficulty getting in
Great location, 10 minutes walk from the train station. The communication prior to my stay was great and it was easy to access the building when I arrived. The apartment was clean and the bed was so comfy, and I loved the complimentary tea and coffee. I would definitely stay again and would recommend to anyone.
Convenient & easy
Fire alarm went off & woke us up for a couple of mins in the middle of the night. Parking is a bit of a problem & room was average.
The whole place, amazing. Room was outta this world 🌎 great place
The room was beautiful and location fantastic
Found it a little awkward to walk through the restaurant if I'm honest
The room and the facilities were amazing. The little touches with milk, water and sweets too.
Nothing
Good features such as modern bathroom and kitchen space with fridge
The apartment I had was very comfortable although a problem did arise and I was upgraded to a better apartment. I will definitely book Winckley Stays again when I return to Preston
Nothing negative to say about these lovely apartments.
Price. Comfort. East of check in
Very clean , good location and good facilities
Internet did not work. Old building and possibly because of stone build of the property. Did not spoil the experience though
The location was near to the centre and the bed was comfortable.
The room smelled like someone had left a chip pan on. The smell of hot fat made the stay unenjoyable. The room was dated and small as well.
Well located and well set up apartment.
Everything was fine but a little strange being a room as part of a restaurant building .
All was amazing
Great location, easy check in, great communication and plenty of room!
Slight lack of facilities. There was a chopping board provided but only butter knives in the draw. A small bottle of milk was provided but the use by date was 4 days before our arrival date
It was nice and accessible. The room was also a reasonable size and the location of it was great.
I found some cobwebs in my bathroom. The overhead shower head was loose. The connection of the glass door of the shower to the wall appeared to hinge on a loose nail in the wall? It just didn’t look secure. And no one gave us any information about the restaurant which was odd. I also feel maybe we could’ve had more water in the fridge instead of just two and a small bottle of milk.
Comfy bed and good location
Poor communication (we were told twice in writing we could check in early as we were getting married that day but upon arrival it wasn’t clean) Facilities are tired (chipped paint, shower is too hot or freezing, taps say hot and cold the wrong way round) Window opened onto bins Ground floor room was noisey until 10pm due to the restaurant and other guests
Fantastic place to stay. Really flexible to suit our needs. Lovely apartment and spotlessly clean. Even some really nice touches like having dimmed lighting and the telly on for when we came in late. Really friendly staff member who brought us up to our room. Lots of nice little complementary products.
Nothing!
Beautiful comfortable room. Everything you need.
Too much light comes in so woke me up early. Could do with blackout blinds.
great location which was a short walk from the station
the bathroom floor was slippery but it was lovely polished marble!
The property is clean tidy and worth every penny so don’t hesitate and book here to
There is nothing to dislike about the property
Well decorated, very comfortable extra large beds.
Amazing room
Lack of parking
Great room at the front of the property, very well located for town and the surrounding parks
First time of staying here but definitely won't be the last, gorgeous place to stay if you're in Preston. We were in the secret garden room right at the top of the building. The room was really pretty, clean and had everything we needed for our 1 night stay. Great contact with owners before our stay explaining instructions for finding and accessing the house. Location was excellent being walkable to center but far enough out to feel quiet. Really comfortable bed and a lovely ensuite bathroom with a great shower. Definitely recommend this hotel.
Couldn’t fault it. The room was well appointed, comfortable, spacious, warm and fresh. Lots of nice touches….milk and water in fridge, sweets on the table. Everything was tight and it is in a great location central, but near to Avenham and Miller parks
No welcoming staff, but the arrangements for checking in were fine. It may have felt a bit weird if it was late at night.
Very conveniently located near the centre
Location and price
We stayed in The Den. Granted the booking details do say second floor room and no lift. That’s no problem for us, but what wasn’t made clear was the second flight of stairs are very narrow, very steep, very windy. There is no hand rail, and for this reason alone we wouldn’t choose that room again, The room was clean, bed comfortable, kitchenette basic but useful to have just for breakfasts. There seemed to be attention to aesthetics rather than basics. 2 hangers in the wardrobe, 1 teaspoon, 1 tumbler glass. There were a couple of fake plants which took up a lot of space in a small room, so the bistro table and chairs were in front of the electric log burner (which didn’t work). It hasn’t been designed with practicality in mind, the usual hunt for a socket to plug in a hairdryer near a mirror. It wasn’t awful, for 4 nights perfectly adequate, but the photos are slightly misleading! Winckley Square is central, an easy walk from Preston station and backing on to Avenham Park. It is also very quiet and there seemed to be available street parking every day, although we travelled by train. Aven restaurant is the ground floor of the building and is a fabulous Fine Dining experience. Locally there are plenty of eateries too. We would probably use Winckley Stays again but choose a ground or first floor room.
How clean the rooms were
Everything was amazing
Convenient, clean, comfortable in a very nice part of town. Near the park for an early morning walk
Couldn't get the WiFi to connect and access after hours was a bit tricky
Great location by 2 parks in a quiet area of Preston we were only staying 1 night. Upgraded to the Bouquet Apartment which in itself was amazing and a good place to relax in for our short stay Clear self check in instructions too.
Unfortunately our sleep experience was very poor due to ongoing conversations going on in adjacent rooms throughout the early hours 2am to 4am. There were also people talking outside our window at 6am presumably popping out for a smoking break. We would return but probably to an apartment at the back of the property
