Hotel Chalets Chamarel

The location is beautiful with breathtaking views. The Chalets are spacious and set apart from each other. THe grounds are well maintained. The staff were polite and the food was good. It was nice to be able to walk to the Ebony Forest.

The hotel needs some work to take it from good to exceptional - which it has the potential to be. There were a number of little things, mainly in the chalets which let them down, such as: the plug in the sink didn't work there were marks on the walls were holes had been filled and not painted over the curtains had come off their hooks the door to the chalet was very stiff and needed a kick to close it the TV kept coming on by itself and we had to find the switch at the back (in amongst the dust) to turn it off the housekeeping generally was not a great standard. All in all, a shame as this should be a really fabulous place, and with just a bit more attention to detail it could be one!

Loved the mountain top location and the absolutely glorious sunset. The staff was super attentive and helpful. My room, chalet 11 was super spacious with an extremely comfortable canopied bed . Loved the dinner in their on-site restaurant where the bartender mixes amazingly good pina coladas.

Not the easiest hotel to access without a car but worth the effort for the views and the overall experience.

Emplacement avec une vue splendide sur le Morne et le lagon. "Chalets" très bien implantés au milieu de la végétation, l'occasion de voir passer de multiples oiseaux et chauve souris. Chambre très agréable et grande. Personnel à l'accueil ou au restaurant, très accueillants et attentifs. Pour rappel ou informations, le repas du soir et le petit déjeuner sont inclus et c'est préférable et compréhensible, le lieu est assez éloigné et isolé. Pour l'accès, Il faut bien "oser" passer les barrières d'accès du site des "sept couleurs" puis continuer par une petite route un peu chaotique (qui se fait tout de même avec un petit véhicule) à partir du parking des "sept couleurs de chamarel" (panneau indicatif). Nous conseillons sans hésitation pour ceux qui apprécient la nature, le calme avec un très bon confort, les petits déjeuner avec une vue splendide. Nous ne sommes restés qu'une seule nuit et sans être un regret, y rester une nuit de plus n'aurait pas été très difficile.

The view from the chalets are absolutely breathtaking. Probably one of the best views you could have in Mauritius and being in the nature to relax is something we really needed to end our trip. The staff were lovely and accomodating and were there to help or if we had any questions. The room was also nice and had a cosy feel.

A few negatives of the stay. Firstly, there were limited options at breakfast I definitely think that there could be more buffet options, but the food still tasted good. Secondly, it’s a little inconvenient as the only way to contact reception is via WhatsApp and sometimes there would be a long wait for a reply. Also the TV system in our room did not work, it is rather outdated (although TV isn’t our main concern) but we would have liked to be able to watch a movie here and there. Lastly, the hotel is definitely out of the way which was not an issue for us but could be for some. The road to get up the mountain is difficult and takes time to get up to the hotel. Some more signs pointing toward the chalets would be good too as we got lost. All in all, our stay was great! Just some improvement points.

Une parenthèse enchantée entre mer et montagne ! Dès l'arrivée, le ton est donné : 1,5 km de piste pour accéder aux chalets, une entrée en matière aussi rigolote que dépaysante ! Perchés sur la crête, les chalets offrent une vue plongeante spectaculaire sur la baie. Face à nous, sa majesté Le Morne se dresse, si proche qu'on aurait l'impression de pouvoir la toucher, avec en prime des couchers de soleil superbes en contrebas. C'est un véritable privilège de se retrouver ainsi en pleine nature, en montagne, pour découvrir une autre facette de l'île. Côté restauration, la carte du dîner est sympa et les assiettes sont soignées. Même s'il y a un petit supplément pour certains plats, il y a largement de quoi manger différemment pendant 3 soirs, et les tarifs ne sont pas exorbitants. Petit bémol toutefois : dommage que le beurre soit servi en barquette plastique et que les confitures du petit-déjeuner soient un peu trop industrielles. L'accueil a été très agréable, avec un personnel souriant et des équipes (service, entretien, jardiniers et gardiens de nuit) prévenantes et sympathiques. En résumé : C'est un excellent spot en hauteur. Ça change des classiques cartes postales de plage, et si vous aimez la nature, ce détour vert en montagne vaut vraiment le coup, avant de regagner la côte pour la suite du séjour. Une très belle étape !

Abbiamo prenotato una camera con cena inclusa: il cibo incluso a cena ha poca scelta e porzioni poco abbondanti che non saziano. La strada per arrivare al resort potrebbe diventare complicata se si incontra un'altra altra macchina arrivare nella direzione opposta. Il prezzo è eccessivo per ciò che offre considerando che l'unico vero punto di forza della struttura è la vista dall'alto sul mare. In bagno manca la ventola nel locale water (in compenso si trova però nel locale doccia)

L'accueil, l organisation pour les chauffeurs de nos excursions, le restaurant, la propreté, le calme, la piscine, la vue.... tout était parfait.

The evening menu was the same for all the time we were there (4 nights) with the half board choices (others were available but at a surcharge) was slightly limiting. A small criticism but overall the offering & quality was excellent.

Non è semplice da raggiungere trovandosi in un punto molto alto e panoramico. Il menu della cena non era molto vario e mi aspettavo una qualità del cibo più alta da un 4 stelle

As a couple who absolutely loves nature especially mountains we loved this place immensely. We highly appreciated the service of the staffs from the beginning , Kevin looked after us well during our dinner time, he is a very polite person. Even vanusha from the reception department received us and guided us very well from the beginning. This time i came for my birthday and i was surprised by a birthday cake and our table was very well decorated without any additional cost which is very rare . As normally many hotels charge high fees to do that. Here they did it voluntarily. Loved it !!!!! The rooms are very cosy and neat. Very spacious also with the amenities already given the clients. The place is very quiet and if you want to have time with family or couple it is highly recommended. Very clean. From the room we can have views from both sides. Sea and mountain view which is very interesting. It is value for money. We will surely come again without any doubt.

It’s a very unique experience to stay in the national park and have this amazing view. The chalets are very spacious and have a beautiful decor. Everyone was very nice and we enjoyed our stay very much. Since we stayed for over a week and the menu of the restaurant did not have so many options, the restaurant came up with special menus for us. We were also provided a late checkout which we appreciated very much.

I read a lot of comments that the road to the hotel was very difficult. Even with a very basic rental car I did not find it too challenging. The road is only for the hotel and we hardly ever met the car.

The view in my opinion was the hero of my stay at Chalets Chamarel.

The property started to look a bit tired after so many years. I could never get the TV to work properly, I had to get maintenance to come and fix the hose to the shower head, it was split and spraying water and if one looked closely you could tell that the maintenance upkeep needed a bit more attention. Walking to the restaurant could be a challenge for some as it’s uphill.

La vue est juste MAGNIFIQUE ! Les couchers de soleil sont à couper le souffle. Le personne est d’un gentillesse sans faille, toujours avec les sourire et prêt à rendre notre séjour encore plus inoubliable. L’emplacement eu milieu de la forêt permet de vraiment se rapprocher de la nature et se reposer au calme. Il ne faut pas avoir peur de croiser des petites bêtes, vous êtes en pleine forêt !

Les attentions faites à notre égard par tout le personnel du restaurant. Merci encore au cuisinier qui m a particulièrement gâté et à pris soin de ma santé avec des menus adaptés. Attention remarquable pour mon anniversaire. Nous nous sommes senties unique . Je pense que le luxe c est ça. Je ne parle pas du lieu qui est exceptionnel avec une vue sur l ile aux bénitiers fabuleuse et sur le lagon.

La route un peu compliqué mais le lieu unique et la nature homipresente expliquent cette route. On est au bout de la forêt de chamarel.

الإطلالة جميلة، والوجبات في المطعم جيدة، ولكن يمكن الاستعاضة بالإطلالة في أماكن أخرى في شماريل، وكذلك بدائل المطاعم والوجبات، تفادياً لخطورة عدم الأمان في الشاليهات، وعدم النظافة الكافية في الغرف.

مكان غير آمن، ولقد تمت سرقة نقودي في حقيبتي الصغيرة داخل الغرفة أثناء فترة وجودي في المطعم من أول ليلة، مع العلم أني طلبت عدم دخول الغرفة في الفترة المسائية، وكان مفتاح الغرفة عادي (معدني) وليس ذكي، وهو في جيبي، وللأسف مساعدة المدير تلقن الموظفين عدم الاعتراف، وترفض مراجعة الكاميرات، وتم إبلاغ السفارة ، والتقدم لمركز الشرطة برفقة مندوب السفارة، وأفاد أحد رجال الشرطة بأن هذه الشاليهات مشهورة بتعدد حالات السرقة من النزلاء، وانظروا إلى تقييمات النزلاء لهذه الشاليهات في قوقل ماب ، وتطبيقات السفر والسياحة لتعرفوا حالات السرقة المتكررة، لقد ندمت على اختياري لهذه الشاليهات ندماً شديداً، وتجربة سيئة لا يمكن تكرارها.

La route peut être compliqué la 1ere fois mais on prends vite le coup

On a aimé la vue incroyable, une des plus belles de l’ile et les chalets spacieux et très beaux. Le petit déjeuner aussi est très bon avec la vue c'est inoubliable.

Plusieurs points ont cependant entaché le séjour et sont non négligeables : - l'hôtel nous avait réservé un taxi pour rentrer voir le coucher de soleil, le taxi est arrivé avec 1h de retard.. Nous avons donc attendu 1h sur un parking et aucun dédommagement ni geste commercial n’a été effectué par l'hôtel. De plus les prix appliqués pour leurs taxis sont démesurés, c'est littéralement de l'arnaque pour touristes. 2500 roupies (45€ !!) pour nous remonter depuis 1 plage à 20min de voiture... ce tarif est inadmissible. Nous avons par la suite payé ce genre de tarif pour plus de 3h de taxi avec les autres taxis trouvés par nos propres soins. - le restaurant de l’hotel est franchement pas tres bon comparé aux cuisines locales qu'on a pu goûter dans des restaurants en ville ou sur les plages. La moitié de la carte contient des plats pour lesquels il faut payer un supplément... ça aussi montre bien l'état d'esprit de cet hotel. Nous avons fait plusieurs hôtels lors de notre séjour beaucoup plus modestes que celui-ci et eux offraient des collations, des cafés, du thé.. dans les chambres sans supplément. Cet hotel est déjà hors de prix et il faut faire attention tion à tout car TOUT est en supplément... Compte tenu du prix élevé de l'hôtel et du standing qu'il prétend tenir ces points ne sont pas normaux. Nous avons ete très déçues de cette mentalité (prix d'arnaqueurs, suppléments à gogo, manque de conciliation...). Ce qui sauve l’hotel est sa vue splendide qui passe la pommade sur les points négatifs..

Situation et vue exceptionnelles, espace et qualité de notre logement, calme.

Je suggère d'améliorer la qualité des vins servis ( par une cave?...), ils ne sont pas niveau du reste et donc beaucoup trop chers.

Die Zufahrt zu den Chalets (Privatstrasse des Hotels) ist sehr eng mit zu wenigen Ausweichstellen v.a. im unteren Strassenbereich und weist an drei Stellen (noch dazu in unübersichtlichen Kurven) extreme Vertiefungen auf , welche offensichtlich schon seit längerer Zeit bestehen. Da es sich bei den Chalets Chamarel um eine Hotelanlage in einer sehr hohen Preisklasse handelt, ist es unverständlich, warum seitens des Hotelmanagements diese extrem schadhaften Stellen der Zufahrtsstraße nicht schon längst repariert worden sind. Man sollte an diesen o.g. Stellen zur Vermeidung von Beschädigungen der Fahrzeug-Unterseite maximal mit dem 1. Gang und mit einer Schrittgeschwindigkeit fahren - oder ggfs. mit einem Taxi zum Hotel fahren.

-Aussicht ist einmalig und unübertrefflich, am liebsten hätte ich den ganzen Tag oben verbracht und mir diese wunderschöne Natur angesehen. -Das Frühstück ist Meisterklasse, tolles frisches Obst, die Pancakes muss jeder probieren! -Verschiedene Eierspeisen zum Bestellen (Im Preis inbegriffen) schmecken überragend. -Die Aufmerksamkeit der Mitarbeiter zwecks Lebensmittelunverträglichkeiten ist sehr hoch -täglich gibt es zwischen 16 und 17 Uhr kostenloses Kaffeetrinken mit Kuchen -uns wurde nach dem Dinner am ersten Abend unaufgefordert das Frühstück (verpackt und reichhaltig) für den nächsten Tag mitgegeben, da wir am nächsten Tag früh los mussten -Es gibt einen Tisch für eine phänomenale Aussicht während Frühstück/Dinner -es wird 2 mal täglich das Wasser aufgefüllt

-Die "Straße" nach oben ist ein absolutes Desaster ,unbeleuchtet und sollte dringend instandgesetzt werden. Die "Straße" besteht aus alten Betonplatten, welche in tiefe Schlaglöcher übergehen, da diese teilweise versinken, es gibt kaum Ausweichmöglichkeiten. Aufsetzen ist keine Seltenheit (trotz 1-2km/h), hier muss dringend ist eine asphaltierte Straße oder starke Verbesserungen investiert werden, dies ist leider ein Grund, nicht noch mal dieses Hotel zu buchen :(. -Das Dinner blieb weit unter unseren Erwartungen in dieser Preisklasse! Die Dinnerkarte wechselt nicht, dies wird nach wenigen tagen schnell langweilig, hier würde ich mir mehr Abwechslung wünschen. Das Essen schmeckt durchschnittlich, teils kaltes, trockenes Fleisch. -Die Cocktails Lychi Mojito schmeckten nicht nach Alkohol -Mocktail Virgin colada schmeckte wässrig -Frühstück beginnt erst ab 8.30Uhr, dies ist ziemlich spät wenn man an dem Tag Unternehmungen geplant hat -Die Chalets ( wir hatten Nr.1) sind teilweise modernierungswürdig -Fenster sind teilweise sehr schmutzig -Abfluss in der Dusche war verstopft und wurde während des Aufenthalts nicht behoben, trotz bescheid gebens -das Housekeeping achtet nicht darauf dass die Türen geschlossen werden, während es draußen dunkel ist und innen das Licht leuchtet, dadurch kommen viele Insekten und Käfer in das Zimmer -Aktivitäten zum Anbieten wären nett -Kerzen beim Dinner auf den Tischen wären nett -Mitarbeiter wirkten teilweise unmotiviert

The Place is very beautiful with very good staffs. We received a very warm welcome from the receptionist, Manager( Nirmal) and waiter. I had an incredible stay.

Due to frequent morning rains there was humid in rooms, but the air conditioning has a drying function. Next minus is the road and the path to the restaurant (it gets muddy after rain).

Tout le reste. Pour près de 200 € la nuit, les éléments suivants étaient tout simplement catastrophique - des sanitaires sales et dégradés - une fause demi-pension avec plus de la moitié de la carte nécessitant de payer des suppléments - une piscine sale et pas nettoyée - une cuisine de très mauvaise qualité que ce soit au petit déjeuner comme au dîner (pain raci, bacon cramé, yaourt pas frais, jus de fruit industriels) - serviettes et peignoirs qui sentent l'humidité

L'emplacement magnifique, le personnel, le logement, la restauration. Mais le must est la vue à couper le souffle.

Le chemin pour atteindre ce petit paradis est vraiment compliqué et très difficile avec une petite voiture.

Die Unterkunft ist wirklich ein Traum. Der Ausblick ist wunderschön und die Chalets sind großzügig eingerichtet. Das Beste an der Unterkunft ist das Personal, so fühlt man sich ab dem ersten Moment richtig wohl. Ein besonderer Dank geht an Vanusha an der Rezeption und Daniel im Restaurant. Von dem Frühstücksbuffet und Abendessen waren wir positiv überrascht. Das Essen war sehr lecker und die Portionen sehr groß. Man sollte vor der Buchung beachten, dass man in der Umgebung nicht allzu viel unternehmen kann. Dafür ist der Poolbereich zum entspannen sehr schön.

Équipement et bâtiments vieillissants

Everything was amazing, the bedroom, the view, the restaurant and on top of that the staff.

The hotel is up in the mountains which really adds to the adventure of the stay. Situated near the waterfalls and national park, it has 360 degrees of breathtaking views. I could stare out for days, it was special. The chalet was nice - although there were a lot of bugs! But that is the nature of being within nature. The restaurant options were good and the staff at dinner/breakfast were amazing. They were friendly, hard-working and were attentive.

While the staff were extremely friendly and nice, there were a couple blips along the way. The first being that they messed up our taxi booking on our first full day. We were meant to leave at 6.30am to go on the hike at Le Morne. The taxi, ultimately, didn't arrive till after 8.30ish, which was a bit disappointing. Both the member of staff at the front desk and the taxi driver said that the staff who had made the booking had made an error. In fairness, the manager, did apologise to us in person at dinner for us - which we appreciated. The second (and much worse) issue was, as I was on my honeymoon, I pre-ordered/pre-paid for some flowers and a bottle of champagne to be brought to the room. The night I returned to the room (and had arranged for this) the flowers were laid out on the bed for my wife but the bottle was not. I had assumed it was the one in the fridge and we consumed it. The next day a member of staff told me that they hadn't provided the bottle and that instead: 1. I would get it at dinner, a day late. 2. I would be charged for this bottle already drank as it was part of the mini bar. The difference between a good and great hotel, is that a great one would not have made such an error. Better yet, they would not have charged me for the bottle given it was 100% their fault. This was a disappointing part of our stay sadly.

Magnifique établissement. Le chemin d’accès est assez compliqué la première fois mais on finit par s’y habituer. Je pense que cet hôtel a la plus belle vue de Maurice!

Amazing stay at Chalet Hotel Chamarel. Rooms comfortable and clean, nice welcoming and overall warm atmosphere and ambiance of the hotel and staff. Cars mandatory to come, free parking. Breathtaking view, probably the best over Mauritius, especially at sunset. A big thanks for the restaurant team for their great high standart service and attentions, everyone was super nice. Highly recommanded 😊

The venue is truly other-worldly. Lived on this island for most of my life but I don't think the view from this lodge can be matched from anywhere else on the island. It was truly breathtaking. The five of us decided to book the whole senior suites (all 3 of them); we thought the privacy would be worth the extra cost and that was bang on! We could enjoy the pool and the entire yard all for ourselves. We set up a telescope in the evening and stargazed for hours. Upon checkout, we got poured on! It's quite a trek to the lodge from the main road, so I'm glad they've cemented the road to make it more accessible - otherwise it could have been a treacherous drive, especially during the downpour. Lastly, the staff was generally very friendly and sweet, especially during check-in/out and during meals. We are super grateful that they very generously allowed us a late checkout on our last day.

At this price point which makes the lodge one of the most high-ends in the country, as a customer (local or otherwise), one expects value for money and top notch service, especially in the small details, let alone the basics. We where therefore a tad disappointed that the basics weren't always there : From missing towels upon check-in, to a whole debacle about wifi (which was critical for us as one of us was working remotely), we found the communication from the staff confusing, if not sometimes ineffective. Again, I reiterate that the staff was super kind, it's just that some of the problem-solving should have happened in the backend, without us (customers paying the most premium price at the lodge for 2 overnights) getting dragged in lengthy conversations over the phone.

Nous sommes venus passer un week-end. L'hôtel est très bien situé parce que nous recherchions le calme et la détente..une coupure dans notre quotidien. Personnel très attentif, accueillant et souriant. Nous étions en demi-pension, petit-déjeuner bien varié et dîner bien raffiné.

A hotel to forget about; there was no hot water, no Wi-Fi, the ATM wasn't working, and at check-in they didn't tell me I had to wear trousers for dinner. When I arrived at the restaurant, they informed me I couldn't eat in shorts, the staff don't speak English well and some are arrogant, especially in the restaurant.

Vue incroyable ! Chalet très beau et très bien équipé. C'est dur de repartir de cet établissement tellement c'est beau. Personnel au petit soin.

La route est un peu stressante mais la vue permet de vite oublier. Le petit déjeuner à 8h30 est un peu tard pour pouvoir profiter de la journée et quand on est matinal.

The view is breathtaking, and the food and staff are excellent, especially Sachin, who was the most gracious waiter.

The road is quite bad for about 1.5 km if you’re not careful to stay on the asphalt tracks.

L’emplacement avec une vue juste exceptionnelle!! Nous étions là bas que pour ça… l’avantage également d’être très proche des 7 couleurs. La chambre est très confortable et grande et le restaurant dispose d’une magnifique vue également. Pour moi c’est un endroit pour une ou 2 nuits maximum.

Malheureusement site exceptionnel donc accès difficile, vraiment très très difficile, nous sommes arrivés avec la pluies et c’était très compliqué de rejoindre les chalets. Impossible de vraiment profiter de l’extérieur car il y a beaucoup de moustique. Bien prendre le ticket pour les 7 couleurs l’entrée du parc car sinon vous devrez ressortir pour revenir, dommage que l’hôtel ne vendent pas de tickets. Je regrette également que seule la directrice et l’adjoint parle le français, il y a avait 7 tables de français sur les 9 et aucun serveur n’était capable de nous comprendre. Propreté des toilettes à revoir et dommage que la chambre ne dispose pas d’une vraie machine à café au lieu d’une simple bouilloire. Nous regrettons également les passages incessants des employés devant les chalets, ça fait perdre le charme du lieu.

L’accès très accidenté pour se rendre à l’hôtel , il est plutôt recommandé de s’y rendre en 4X4

- плата за ежедневную уборку номера - отсутствие на сайте/в букинге на видном месте информации о жестком дресс-коде на ужине (обязательность брюк). Также менеджер ресторана несколько раз невежливо шутил, что он "впустит" нас в шортах на завтрак и ужин. Эти шутки были неуместны и унизительны.

I like everything about the property.

Le personnel était très prévenant et à l'écoute de nos désirs et de nos revendications. Le cadre était franchement magnifique. Je recommande. Nous avons passé un bon séjour.

C'était dommage que dans la partie "cuisine" qu'il n'y ait pas d'arrivée d'eau. Les WC n'étaient pas bien fixés. A chaque fois que l'on se levait du siège un bruit assourdissant résonnait. Les transats sur la terasse de derrière étaient un peu sales. Hormis cela, tout le reste était parfait.

View from our room (Junior Suite, room #1) was stunning. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food was high calibre. Isolated location was quiet, peaceful, tranquil.

We stayed for 5 nights, but 3 nights would have sufficed. At every dinner, stray cats would appear; they constantly approach tables and we saw them jump on empty tables: very off-putting. When booking, we had to select Half Board for meals. However, options are limited, and we ended up having the same meals. Alternative meals incur an extra charge, which, in effect, means that you pay for dinner twice. That was unfair. The Hotel does not offer many excursions, so it is better to have a car, but the road leading to hotel is narrow and winding with very little room to manoeuvre. We didn't have a car, and it was about an hour's walk to visit the nearby attractions. The pool was extremely small and in poor condition.

La vue, la vue, la vue🤩 Incroyable, je dirais la plus belle de l’île. Vous voyez le Morne, tout le lagon et le coucher de soleil. La chambre était grande, spacieuse et très belle. Elle était fraîche à notre arrivée. Le soir, le personnel prépare la chambre pour dormir. Le lit était très confortable. Le jardin alentour est magnifique ! Très bien entretenu et pensé avec goût. On a bien mangé au restaurant, et le personnel s’est montré arrangeant avec le petit-déjeuner car nous avions des activités tôt le matin. Les serveurs (hommes) étaient très gentils et au petit soins. Établissement n’accepte pas les enfants donc vous êtes tranquille 😌.

Le chemin d’accès est abîmé à de nombreux endroits. Il faut être prudent pour ne pas toucher bas de caisse. Cela rend l’accès laborieux si vous n’avez pas une voiture haute. Les serveuses du restaurant étaient nonchalantes et obtenir un sourire était difficile. Nous n’avons pas trouvé la possibilité de faire un massage. Cela pourrait être une idée d’en proposer surtout avec la vue et le standard de l’hôtel.
